Dime Wall Cabinet Evocative of a spinning coin, Dime is a dynamic cabinet with a signature Splinter Works twist of illusion and intrigue. The individual curved segments, glide and shuffle to reveal its function as a sommelier table. When closed it has a poetic repetition of form, softened by the texture of American walnut. Upon opening, the curved segments have a pleasing resistance, each contracting evenly until fully opened. The edges of the walnut leaves are lined in ripple sycamore veneer which highlights their shape. The playful form allows the user to hide or reveal the countertop and wine storage. It is a subtle yet delightfully tactile piece that would fit equally well into a contemporary or more traditional interior setting. LightBox LightBox gently diffuses the light that is boxed inside within its simple volume. Locked with a plus shaped connector, design has a minimalist language that handles details with attention. An easy production with a less material use results in a joyful product. Contrasting pairs generates a direction where light is blocked or filtered through a frosted finish. LightBoxes comes with a variety of colors and creates a pattern through multiple use. Design Agency: DESIGNNOBIS Designer: Dr. Hakan G端rsu Country: Turkey
Tumbler Lamp Apart from the stereotyped traditional oil-lamps, Tumbler Lamp differentiates itself with its modern aesthetic look and also the functioning which also destroys the ordinary. Its fresh look consists of glass and a metal is designed to take place of the ornamental oil candles. The spherical metal reservoir is the reason of this demonstrated stunning effect, while it enables to have a tumbler. Design takes the roots from a traditional object that stands in any angle; and therefore, this functional concern brings an innovative dimension to safety issue smartly. Literally, it always stands. Meltdown Chairs
123
PP Tube #1 The PP Tube #1 Meltdown Chair is created by heating and pressing a seat-shaped form into a stack of common plumbing tubes. The ends of the tubes melt and fuse together as they come into contact with the heated form leaving a pattern of irregular holes on the surface of the moulded seat.
Designer: Tom Price
These are produced in a limited edition of 12 in white, and 12 in black. They form part of a series of chairs created using the same technique with different materials.
PE Stripe The PE Stripe Meltdown Chair is made by pressing a heated metal chair-shaped form into a stack of colourful woven plastic rugs. The rugs begin to melt as they come into contact with the heated form, then set in the shape of the seat as they cool, creating a contrast in colour, form and texture.
Bronze #1 The Bronze #1 Meltdown Chair is made using a "lost-plastic" casting technique. The original form for the chair, made from polypropylene tubes, is encased in a thick ceramic shell and then melted out to create a cavity into which the molten bronze is poured. Once cooled, the ceramic shell is broken away to reveal the bronze form within. The back and underside is left "raw" and patinated black. The seat is polished to a bright mirror finish.
Cable Tie
Fleece The Fleece Meltdown Chairs are part of a series commissioned by Arts Co for the exhibition, 'From Now to Eternity', and are made exclusively from discarded polyester fleece clothing.
The Cable Tie Meltdown Chair is created by heating and pressing a seat-shaped form into a woven ball of approximately 10,000 black nylon cable ties. The ties begin to liquify as they come into contact with the heated form, then set in the shape of the seat as it cools, creating a contrast in form and texture to the remaining ties.
