ENO (PTI) - A 42-year-old Indian citizen in the US has pleaded guilty to planning terrorist attacks in India, including assassination of officials, by allegedly providing material support and resources to terrorists involved in the Khalistan movement aimed at creating an independent Sikh state. Balwinder Singh, a resident of Nevada, pleaded guilty before US District Judge Larry Hicks to one count of conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, knowing and intending that such support would be used to carry out terrorist attacks overseas, Acting Assistant Attorney General for National Security Mary McCord said yesterday. ALM BEACH, FLA | AFP President-elect Donald Trump announced Wednesday that he will nominate South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, a Republican critic who once rebuked him for failing to disavow white supremacists, as US ambassador to the United Nations. An Asian-American with little previous foreign policy experience, Haley was the first woman to be picked
for Trump’s cabinet, injecting a measure of diversity in a group that until now has consisted solely of white men. “Governor Haley has a proven track record of bringing people together regardless of background or party affiliation to move critical policies forward for the betterment of her state and our country,” Trump said in a statement. “She is also a proven dealmaker, and
we look to be making plenty of deals. The Houston Fire Department says the fire started shortly before 3:30am off Holly Hall and El Mundo, off Highway 288. Multiple condos were affected by heavy smoke, flames and water damage. One woman was rescued and we’re hearing others may have been taken to the hospital as well. One resident told us a man had burns on his face, hands and neck. The Houston Fire Department confirms one fire victim was taken to a hospital for treatment. One woman went out to her balcony, climbed out onto her roof, and waited for firefighters to help. She was rescued when firefighters carried her down a ladder.

HPD homicide and HFD Arson investigators responded to the scene and are conducting respective investigations into the incident. At this time, the cause of the fire has not been determined. Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
