Ronnie Patel completes 20 years in Insurance business

Along the way he became a Certified Financial Planner and a stock broker. Mr. Patel’s journey as an insurance agent began in 1993. He started his insurance career with Farmers Insurance and today he works as an independent agent representing several carriers such as Travelers, CNA and Hartford. Throughout the years, Mr. Patel has been a strong community supporter and has given back to the community in several ways through charitable contributions and time spent in the community. n November 14th, 2013 Ronnie Patel celebrated 20 years of being in the insurance business. Born in Bombay, India, Mr. Patel came to the United States in 1982 to attend the University of Houston. He obtained his BBA in Finance and then his MBA in Accounting and continued on to become a Certified Public Accountant. Out of college, he joined Deloitte & Touche, one of the largest accounting firms in the world.
The celebration at Madras Pavilion marked his 20th year of serving the Greater Houston community in the insurance industry. Mr. Mahesh Shah and Mr. Rajan Radhakrishnan of Madras Pavilion did a fantastic job of providing everyone present with a wonderful selection of appetizers, food and drinks. The list of attendees was vast and diverse and was well attended by Mr. Patel’s clients, friends, businessmen and past and present co-workers and community leaders. We wish Mr. Patel all the very best and another 20+ years in this business!

he Indian American Kerala Cultural and Civic Center (http:// keralacenterny.com) honored eight Indian American Malayalees for their outstanding achievements in their field of specialization or for their service to the society on Saturday, November 9th at the Leonards of Great Neck in Long Island in New York The awardees were selected by a committee consisting of four members headed by Kerala Center Board Member and Trustee Dr. Thomas Abraham. “Every year we invite nominations and the committee has to make a unanimous choice for a candidate in a category to be selected to receive the award and this year is no different from previous years in terms of their achievements,” said Dr. Abraham.

The Chief Guest for the evening was Vijay K. Nambiar, Under SecretaryGeneral and Special Adviser of the UN Secretary-General on Myanmar. Ambassador Nambiar, who was also be honored for his service to the U.N. Ambassador Nambiar praised the work of the Kerala Center for the Indian community. The keynote speaker was Sree Srinivasan, Chief Digital Officer of Metropolitan Museum of Art and Adjunct Professor at Columbia Journalism School. Sreenivasan congratulated the Center for its work irrespective of religion, cast and denomination of Keralites. The program started with welcome remarks from Awards Banquet Com-
mittee Chairman Greg Babeendran and the Kerala Center President Thambi Thalapillil. Babeendran in hiS remarks said that the founders of the Kerala Center had a vision to start this center and the new generation like him must ask how we can help to take the center to the next level of activities. Thalapillil said that the center has been providing a common platform for all Keralites and has been serving the Indian American community, especi8aly the senior citizens. Dr. Thomas Abraham served as the master of ceremony for the evening program. An entertainment by Gobba Dancers of Connecticut followed after the award ceremony and dinner.
