taken up the job of Club Secretary and I look forward working with him in this capacity over the next 12 months or so.
President’s Report Dean Holden, VWCV President Hello to everyone and welcome to my first report as President of the VW Club Vic. First up I wanted to thank our outgoing President Michael Cronin, who due to his efforts over the past 2 years has handed me the Presidency of a very healthy car club. We are very financial and have an extremely stable membership base with interests that range from Air Cooled Beetles, Kombi’s and Karmann’s thru the very latest Water-cooled VW’s. Michael has stepped down as President, but I am very pleased to announce that he has
As we had our AGM last month we also have a number of new committee members joining the ranks. Please join me in welcoming Brian Reed as our new Vice President, Richard Graham as our new Social Secretary, Andrew Mengyel as our new Membership Officer and Michael Clark as our new Motor Sports Coordinator. We thank Matt Kinsey, Kingsley Morrison, Xavier Larkin and Chris Antonello for their excellent work in these positions over the past couple of years. The key positions of Treasurer, Web Master and Magazine Editor have remained with John Farlow, David Holinger and Tony Albers. During the month of September our main club activity was running the annual VW Club Swap Meet. We tried a new undercover location at historic
Williamstown this year and by all accounts the day was a great success. We had 37 swappers and 350 buyers thru the gates and some great bargains were to be had on the day. The site operated by the Williamstown Maritime Association provided a colourful and central location with easy access from the freeways and walking distance to the Williamstown shops and café’s. We are sure to use this facility again for some future events. In October we have a busy schedule starting with the Oktober Fest at the Cuckoo Restaurant on Saturday the 25th of October and our General Meeting on Tuesday the 28th at South Yarra Volkswagen.
Early registrations close on the 3rd of November to allow time for processing and post. Even if you don’t register early, you can enter the Show and Shine on the day. All show and shine entrants get a very nice DOTVW show Bag and entry for the driver and one passenger included in the Show and Show registration price of $20.00. I encourage everyone to enter in the Show and Shine, regardless of how worthy or unworthy you might think your VW is as a show car, its great value for money and certainly adds an extra dimension to the day. You might just walk away with a trophy.
Look forward to seeing you all at South Yarra VW for the General Meeting. Leading us into November and the Day Francis and Michael will have their team of the VW 2008 on Sunday the 16th. on hand to talk about the latest VW Don’t forget to register for the Show products and sure they will be more and Shine.
