"Nola" is a Lab mix pup, who just turned one year old! She is 33 pounds and an active girl, so a home with an active couple or family would be the best fit for her. Children less than 10 would not be recommended due to her activity level. She has completed the Beginner Education Puppy Class at Petsmart and is a very smart girl! Nola is spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, heartworm preventative and microchipped. "Callie" is a female Lab mix with unique markings! Not only does she have a great smile, she is extremely smart! She LOVES to play ball and even walks around with a ball in her mouth! Callie is two years old, spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, on monthly prevention and she’s microchipped. All she’s waiting on is you!

He is one of the sweetest and best natured dogs you would ever find! He gets along with other dogs, and loves to play with ropes and chase balls! Ranger is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative and on monthly preventative and microchipped. “Dusty” is a little over a year old. He was a shelter dog that we rescued. He is a GREAT dog! Very loving and good with kids, adults and other dogs. Typical golden traits. He knows how to sit and shake. He needs a home with a secure fence and a loving family!

Animal Rescue of Stokes
Wag! Magazine’s “Cover Dog”, “Chance”, is a very handsome Lab/Shepherd/ Pit mix who aims to please! He is 2 and a half years old (the perfect age!) and is neutered. Chance is current on vaccines, monthly heartworm prevention & he is micro-chipped. Chance came into the ARSC program through the Stokes County Animal Shelter. He’s a “worker” so he would love to have a “job” doing something he enjoys, like being an agility dog because he loves to play ball and catch the frisbee. Unfortunately, Chance broke his leg back in August but he didn’t let that slow him down! He is back to playing ball with a vengence! He is great with people, other dogs (preferably female) but cats are not recommended. If you think Chance would be the perfect dog for you, contact Animal Rescue of Stokes County via email: ARSC2004@gmail.com
To visit animals in the Stokes County Animal Shelter, visit them at 1999 Sizemore Road Germanton, NC 27019 or find them on facebook: “Stokes County Animal Shelter” (336) 994-2788 www.wagmagazinenc.com
County (ARSC) is making a huge difference for homeless animals in their community. The group was formed in 2004 by Candis Loy and Mona Singleton Triplett. Both ladies, who shared a love for animals, joined forces to become the first 501(c)3 (nonprofit) animal rescue organization in Stokes County. The two worked together for five years before Mona decided to start the Stokes County Humane Society while Candis continued to run Animal Rescue of Stokes County. Loy, who moved to Stokes County from Boone, NC works as a full time elementary Physical Education teacher at three Stokes County schools and says her “ true love is caring for dogs on a daily basis and finding them great homes.” Loy dedicates her evenings and weekends to her rescue work. She also serves on the Stokes County Animal Advisory Board and hopes that in the very near future to see a new animal shelter in Stokes County, which would ease overcrowding for the animals. Loy says she “would love to see some ordinances passed that would encourage residents to spay and neuter their pets to help keep animals out of the shelter” due to pet overpopulation. The primary focus of ARSC is to rescue and re-home dogs from the Stokes County Animal Shelter as well as stray dogs. All of the dogs in the care of ARSC are fully vaccinated, heartworm tested, spayed or neutered and microchipped prior to adoption. New dogs to the program are quarantined and altered before coming into their facility. ARSC was fortunate enough to receive a partial grant from the Apple
Foundation, which along with funds from Loy herself helped construct a 30’ x 40’ building almost three years ago to foster the majority of dogs in the ARSC program. The building was finished in stages as fundraisers allowed and is fully insulated, with heat and air, providing year round comfort for the canines. Doggie doors and large fenced areas allow the dogs to get ample exercise while interacting with each other. As long as funds allow, ARSC provides free spay and neuter for dogs and cats of Stokes County residents who qualify under their guidelines and helps provide veterinary care for citizens who need emergency care for their companion pet. ARSC provides dog houses to residents that are referred to them from the Stokes County Animal Shelter and the organization also has a Humane Education program in place that is presented by two elementary teachers in Stokes County to agencies that request it. Most of the money to support these programs comes from fund raisers and public donations. Each year in April, the ARSC holds a rabies clinic in Stokes County and every fall they host their annual “Music for Mutts” event at Central Park in King. To learn more about ARSC and to view their adoptable animals, be sure to visit them on facebook: Animal Rescue of Stokes County” or visit their website at: www. animalrescueofstokescounty.com or to contact them via email: ARSC2004@gmail.com and to help them continue their much needed work in Stokes County, send your tax deductible donation to:

Emmy award-winning journalist and author Chad Tucker grew up in the Stokes County community of King, where at the age of 12 he landed his first broadcasting job as a radio announcer for WKTE-AM. He got his first taste of journalism while in high school at South Stokes, writing for his hometown paper, the former King Times-News. Chad began his television career as a student at East Carolina University, working as a news producer for CBS affiliate WNCT-TV in Greenville, NC. Chad earned a bachelor’s degree in communications and a master’s degree in instructional technology from ECU. In June 2002, he joined the FOX8 family and will soon be celebrating ten years of reporting for the news station. In January of 2010, Chad received an Emmy from the National Academy of Television Arts and Science for his story on the historic Nancy Reynolds School in Stokes County. The story also gained him first place in education reporting by the Radio and Television News Directors Association of the Carolinas (RTDNAC). RTDNAC also awarded Chad two silver awards for his reporting in education in 2008 and spot news reporting in 2006. He also received an Emmy nomination for spot news reporting in 2006. Readers of Smitty's Notes voted Chad one of the "best male TV news personalities" in the 2007 "The Best of Winston-Salem" awards. Chad and his colleagues at WNCT-TV won numerous awards, including the Edward R. Murrow Award for continuous coverage of Hurricane Floyd and the floods that followed in September 1999. Chad has received recognition for volunteering in the arts, hospice and education and delivered the fall commencement address for the East Carolina University School of Communication in 2005. His Emmy-winning story, “The Last Day of Nancy Reynolds School,” can be viewed at www.myfox8.com. If his subdued southern drawl doesn't give away his Piedmont roots, Chad's personality certainly does. He has an affinity for small town folks, an appetite for North Carolina history, family genealogy and a love of Andy Griffith Show reruns. Chad has authored several regional history books on Stokes County and his hometown of King, North Carolina. His family roots run deep in Stokes County and American history. Through his paternal grandmother, he is a fifth-great nephew of Charles King, whose home, King's Cabin, became the namesake of the City of King. Through his maternal grandfather, his ancestry includes Thomas Stone, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Chad is full of knowledge of the history of Stokes County. One can sit and listen to his interesting stories for hours. When asked what he loves the most about his hometown, Chad replies, “It's beauty and people. The county is a hidden gem of beauty... being right on the threshold of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Above its beauty, is its people... a community hospitality of neighbors helping neighbors.” Chad has always had a soft spot in his heart for animals. “I started helping at shelters in college at East Carolina University. While in graduate school at ECU and working as a journalist at WNCT-TV in Greenville, I conducted many television reports on the animals left homeless after Hurricane Floyd and the floods that followed. Our stories, and the power of television, helped reunite pet owners with their animals.” A photograph of Chad’s beloved childhood dog Bandit, a Cocker Spaniel, still sits in his living room. Bandit had been abandoned and Chad’s family took him in and provided him with a wonderful life. Chad now shares his home with his rescued five year old Jack Russell Terrier/Bichon mix, Otis. Chad adopted Otis through the Animal Adoption & Rescue Foundation (AARF) back in 2006. “He has brought so much joy to my life and taught me about unconditional love, loyalty and forgiveness,” Chad says of Otis. “Animals are God’s creatures and I believe we are called to be good stewards of His creations” states Chad. “I have always loved animals and after reporting on the high euthanasia rates of shelter animals in our communities, across our state and country, I felt I needed to do more than just report it… that’s why I created Otis’ Facebook® page.” Since 2010, fans of the page have not only kept up with Otis’ daily walks, mischievous behavior and trips to the pet store with his dad but also see many of Otis’ furry friends in area shelters and in desperate need of a home. The page promotes adoptions of homeless shelter pets with Otis’ motto reminding everyone “Don’t buy your friends, Adopt them! Adopt a shelter pet!”

Otis’ page now has over 460 fans in seven different countries including Turkey and Guatemala. Chad says Otis’ page also helps educate and encourage the public to spay and neuter their pets, helping reduce the number of unwanted animals ending up in area shelters. In addition to posting pictures of animals from area shelters on Otis’ Facebook® page, Chad’s page and the Fox 8 page, Chad helps other shelters create and run social networking sites including the Stokes County Animal Shelter. Chad helped the Stokes County staff with getting a shelter Facebook® page up and running in 2010 and today the shelter has over 2,000 followers who’ve helped its animals find homes as far away as Canada. “The power in social networking sites like Facebook® is not just with posting animal pictures, but its when your friends repost those pictures and those friends do the same” says Chad. “The more pictures of animals we can post and the more our friends repost them to their page, the more eyes that will see these animals and the greater the chance they will be saved. Due to so many more unwanted animals coming into area shelters daily, ― shelters with limited space ― time is very short. NC law only requires shelters to keep animals for three days. Many shelters try and keep pets as long as they can if space allows. That’s why everyone can help by having their pet spayed or neutered, and on sites like Facebook® post and re-post pictures of shelter animals and encourage your Facebook® friends to do the same.” Chad and his fiancée Meredith even try to help shelter pets become more appealing in their pictures by donating accessories like pearls, hats and glittery collars for them to wear. “Giving people a larger voice” is what Chad enjoys most about being a journalist for Fox 8 News. “That larger voice can help people make a difference in their community and sometimes evoke change.” In recent years Chad covered several high profile cases involving animal abuse. “I covered both Susie and Chamberlin from day one. I will never forget the day Susie was discovered set on fire and left to die in Guilford County. We followed her story of survival every step of the way from her long recovery, the trial of those accused of abusing her to the day the NC law bearing her name went into affect” says Chad. Susie’s Law now makes sure those convicted of animal cruelty spend time in jail. “I was there reporting the day Chamberlin was discovered near death having been abandoned and tied to a tree for weeks at a High Point home with no food or water. We were there, with cameras rolling, from the moment Chamberlin’s former owners were arrested for animal abuse to the day he was able to move again, thanks to a wheelchair. It is stories like these that have helped make changes in our community and hopefully make our society a better and safer place.” Anyone who watches the Fox 8 News can sense the fun they have together. “We are like a big family that likes to have fun … but all while working hard and staying dedicated to serving the Piedmont Triad.” The Fox 8 family is made up of many animal lovers and helps animals find homes by having adoption fairs and its weekly “Pet of the Week” segment. Fox 8 also holds rabies clinics at the station each year. Chad met his beautiful fiancée Meredith while getting a haircut at the salon where she works. The first time he saw her, he knew she was the girl for him. The couple, which became engaged in September of last year, is planning a Spring wedding. Happiness couldn’t come to a nicer guy and I have a feeling that Otis couldn’t be more excited! To “Like” Otis on Facebook® and help him find homes for his shelter friends, visit him at www.facebook.com/OtisTucker. For more information on Chad’s background and history, visit www.chadtucker.tv and to inquire about his books on the history of King and Stokes County, visit www.chadtuckerbooks.com You can also find Chad on Facebook® and follow him on Twitter @ chadtucker

Cruise received the title of “Mr. Popularity” by his kennel mates at FCAC for the month of January. Not bad, considering he was up against Pancake and Luke! Don’t worry he’s not letting the honor go to head. Cruise is pretty humble with his award and had the following acceptance speech: “even as a young Beagle/Pointer mix, I always dreamed of getting this award. I’d like to thank the Academy and my dear friend Gracie Jane for believing in me. To my future owners, thank you for looking past the red bandana Project Pearl dressed me in for my photo at the Forsyth County Animal Shelter.” A248348 (Photo courtesy of Todd McLean). Madison loves to GLAM it up for the camera! Back in her day, this 2 year old DSH, use to walk the catwalk, modeling for famous designers like Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren. Nowadays, Madison likes to kick back in jeans and no makeup. Being a DSH, there is little to no maintenance with her hair and she is back to her original color (so no trips to the salon!). If you can provide an ex super model with a comfortable lifestyle, visit her at the Forsyth County Animal Shelter! A248140 (Photo courtesy of Amanda Sullivan).

Clyde is a charmer and you’ll instantly fall in love when you meet him! Clyde, a 4 mth old Lab/Mastiff mix, loves being around people! This photo captures his calm, serious side, but he loves to play outside and walks nicely on a leash. Although Clyde is still fairly young, he is already proficient in origami! If you can provide Clyde with a lifetime home (and some paper for his hobby), please visit him at FCAC. A248465 (Photo courtesy of Christine Rucker).
You’ll flip over this Pancake! Pancake, a 1 year old Lab was found as a stray! He’s a classic family dog that is sweet and gentle. Pancake loves writing letters and has a few pen pals across the hall in cat adoptions. He’d like to stay in contact with a few of his friends and has recently set up a Facebook account! A FCAC Hiking Hounds participant, Pancake loved spending time in the great outdoors! Start your morning off with a no-calorie Pancake! A239364 (Photo courtesy of Todd McLean).
“I tawt I taw a puddy tat! I did, I did taw a puddy tat!” Although the 1947 cartoon “Tweetie Pie” , put Tweetie and Sylvester up against each other for the first time, it also won an Academy Award! Adopt a part of history and take Sylvester home! Sylvester is an 8 month old DSH that was found as a stray. He’s a gentle kitty and unlike Tweetie, doesn’t seem to want to outsmart anyone! A249053 (Photo courtesy of Christine Rucker). .
“Humans, I am your dog” Luke says in his best Darth Vader voice! Luke, a goofy 5 mth old Lab mix loved hamming it up for the cameras! Brought in as stray in early December, Luke would love a new home by the Super Bowl! Luke tries to stay neutral with his many team favorites! Luke would love to be your #1 draft choice. He’ll certainly outshine any trophy! A248149 (Photo courtesy of Lauren Clark at Andrea Halsey Phot).
Stormy comes with a trust fund! Ok, not really, but we had to grab your attention somehow! Stormy, a 8 month old DSH, is another owner surrender waiting to be adopted. But wait, there’s more! Although you won’t get an additional set of ginsu knives for free with this adoption, you will get an already neutered ($42 adoption fee) amazing cat that can teach you how to play chess! But this offer will only be available if you ACT NOW! A249298 (Photo courtesy of Christine Rucker).
Why rent formal wear, when you can adopt a Tux? Tux, a 1 year old Lab Mix was brought in as a stray in December with his buddy, Merle, who has already been adopted. Tux is a favorite among the FCAC volunteers. His calm, friendly and easy going personality would make him the perfect fit for any home! Ideally, he would like a home by February 14, Valentine’s Day, which is also his Birthday! If you can make Tux’s birthday wish come true, buy some candles and bring a cake to FCAC! A248314 (Photo courtesy of Christine Rucker).
The Forsyth County Animal Shelter hours of operation are Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 12:00-5:00pm, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12:00-7:00pm. Alright, you caught us, PBTDSH is a fancy way of saying he’s a “petite black tiger domestic short hair!” But, we’re not lion’ when we say this 2 year old cat is super cool looking! Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Smokie, Happy Birthday to YOU!!! FCAC can’t think of a better Birthday present for Smokie than a new home! Smokie is a almost 2 year old DSH that was surrendered to FCAC because of financial hardships. If you can provide a loving home for Smokie, please visit her at FCAC. Lovely Gracie Jane was surrendered to FCAC in late December because her family could no longer provide for her. "Project Pearl” was formed after Fowler Ruffin, a local artist and the Farm Volunteer Coordinator at the Children’s Home and Melissa Ball, the former Executive Director of the Humane Society of Davie County and former Manager at the Forsyth Humane Society, met a wonderful Forsyth County shelter dog, Pearl. Found as a stray, Pearl's owner was located, but had moved and decided not to take her along. A staff favorite, Pearl, an adult dog, was already housetrained and had wonderful manners, but also had some minor skin allergies and was missing patches of hair, which made her less desirable. She patiently waited almost 2 months for a home. Fowler and Melissa decided to join forces to find Pearl the loving home she so much deserved. Knowing Pearl was in pretty rough shape and had an unflattering online photo, Melissa went up to Forsyth County Animal Control (FCAC), gave Pearl a bath and got her ready for Fowler to reshoot her photo. Nineteen hours after the photos were sent out in an email, Pearl was adopted and in her new home! Two days later, October 1, 2011 Project Pearl was born! As an open admission shelter, Forsyth County Animal Control is committed to taking in strays, owner surrenders and abandoned animals and those rescued from cruelty cases. The entire staff at FCAC works incredibly hard in a never-ending emotional environment and Project Pearl is honored to collaborate with them. Trying to figure out a new way to help FCAC, Fowler and Melissa decided on highlighting some of the great animals by inventing Project Pearl’s “Lend a Lens” program. Ginny Weiler and Ellen Henson initially helped kick start the photography sessions by volunteering their Tuesday mornings for the first 6 weeks! Friends and family donated jewelry, fabric, chairs, toys and treats. To date, the team of professional photographers has grown to include: Ginny Weiler, Ellen Henson, Nunthany Johnson, Ginger Nixon, Amanda Sullivan, Christine Rucker, Todd McLean, Lauren Hutchinson Clark, David Clark, David Reavis, Joey Cutts, Terri Burke, Will McIntyre and Deni McIntyre. Emma & Nick Sullivan, Project Pearl’s youth photographers, also volunteer. “They amaze us with their endearing photos!” says Melissa Ball. Project Pearl originally hoped to meet weekly and take photos, but now is fortunate enough to meet two to three times a week at FCAC. “Our photographers are amazing! Not only do they take photos that capture the individual animal, they customize each one and deliver the photos to us within 24 hours. Our photographers understand how time sensitive shelter life is and really step up to help our community’s homeless animals” states Melissa Ball, “Each photographer incorporates their own style and uniqueness to the photos. Since we never know how the animal is going to react, we assess our subjects and individualize their needs. Generally the sound of squeaky toys, grunting hedgehogs and tennis balls fill the room, but if we get a shy subject, we change our demeanor.” Once the photographs are taken, they are posted on the Project Pearl Facebook® page and the photos get re-posted on the county's web page at www.forsyth.cc/animalcontrol. Many of the professional photographers post the photos on their web pages and write about their experiences in their blogs. “We are also extremely fortunate to have local groomers on board with Project Pearl. On occasion, we come across severely neglected grooming candidates and our professional groomers take great care of them! Linda at Linda’s Pet Haven, has been especially generous to Project Pearl.” Project Pearl is making a huge difference in the shelter’s adoption rate and it wouldn’t be possible without the volunteers that help during Project Pearl’s weekly photo sessions. They prepare the cats and dogs by embellishing them with their accessories, taking them for walks and bathing the animals which helps provide additional attention to timid animals. Project Pearl is in the process of completing their non-profit status and hopes to raise enough monetary donations to sustain a web site and to assist with community efforts to reduce overpopulation and promote adoptions. In the future, they hope to become a CCP (Community Care Partner) with FCAC and assist with fostering efforts. Project Pearl is looking for local professional photographers and volunteers. They are always in need of props such as furniture, fabric, jewelry, bandanas and treats. For more information, please visit their Facebook® page, Project Pearl or e-mail them at: projectpearl@triad.rr.com

Hi! I’m Annie. I was dumped out on the side of the road in Lewisville and I had a rough start in life, but it hasn’t affected me one bit! I am a GREAT dog! I have received all my Veterinary care. I was given an exam, dewormed for hookworms, treated for fleas/ticks, vaccinated, tested (negative) for heartworm disease and I am on monthly heartworm prevention and I am spayed. I’m a year old and even though we girls don’t like to tell our weight, I’ll say I’m in the mid-20’s and I’m full grown, so you see - I am the perfect weight, I’m gorgeous (if I say so myself!) and I am housetrained! I absolutely LOVE other dogs, so I would really like a great home with a canine companion. What more could you ask for? The Vet. thinks I am a Terrier/Pointer mix. I am red & white & I love to go for car rides too! I will make some lucky family a wonderful companion. If you would like to meet me please call (336)682-1311 or (336) 692-3888. Once you meet me, you’ll just love me! Thanks! Love, Annie

World Spay Day is an international effort, initiated and sponsored by the Doris Day Animal League, Humane Society US (HSUS) and Humane Society International over 15 years ago, promoting the spaying and neutering of pets on the last Tuesday in February or throughout the month of February. Communities around the world create events bringing awareness to the benefits of spay/neuter and provide resources to facilitate this process. Within Forsyth County, the following organizations are joining together in effort to support World Spay Day 2012: · Forsyth County Animal Control · Humane Solution Spay/ Neuter Program · Forsyth Humane Society · Fur-Ever Friends of North Carolina · Animal Adoption and Rescue Foundation (AARF) · Forgotten Felines of Forsyth · 4 Paws Pet Foundation · Central Spay, Neuter & Wellness Clinic · Forsyth County Veterinary Medical Association Our overall goal is to educate owners on the health benefits and alleviate the cost of surgery by pooling our financial resources and offering vouchers to low-income pet owners for spays or neuters. We have planned a one-day event for Spay Day 2012 which involves representatives from the participating organizations being present at several designated locations within Forsyth County to offer vouchers for low-cost spays and neuters, to explain the merits of spay/neuter, and discuss available options. The event will occur on a Saturday in February 2012 (exact date to be determined). Included in this effort will be: · An informational poster on the advantages of spay/neuter · Veterinary and animal advocate representatives present to answer questions from the public and address misconceptions · Offer reduced cost spay/neuter vouchers for those that qualify · Increase awareness of other low cost spay/neuter options To concentrate our efforts on the target demographic, our hope is to partner with a retailer at various locations in Forsyth County. Every dollar that is raised between now and February will be pooled to provide as many vouchers for low-cost spays and neuters as possible. Vouchers can be purchased for $10 by a pet owner and must be redeemed at a participating veterinary clinic by March 30. To qualify for this program, families must meet financial need guidelines on the day of the event and each qualified family can then purchase up to 3 vouchers on this day. Proceeds raised from the sale of the vouchers will be used for future collaborative spay/neuter events. Each voucher pays to the participating veterinary clinic $50 for the cost of the surgery (regardless if male/female or dog/cat). Our hope is to provide 250 vouchers at our Spay Day event.

When I let my dog out to potty when there is snow on the ground and freezing temperatures, how long should I limit his potty/playtime for? J.T.
As long your dog is moving and remains dry, he can stay outside for a fairly long time. They will usually tell you when they are ready to come back inside so watch closely. Some dogs are obviously more cold hardy than others....Tea-cup poodle vs Siberian Husky. Frost bite is uncommon but be observant if he starts chewing his feet or seems painful when walking. What signs should I look for if my pet is having dental problems? M.L.
The most common sign of dental disease is bad breath. If you look under your pets lips and see red gums, excessive tartar or notice your pet drooling more, having difficulty eating or pawing at it's mouth, these can also be signs of dental problems. Remember, dogs and cats are very good at hiding pain and it is amazing how bad the teeth can get before it is obvious to some pet owners. I had to pull 28 rotten teeth from a Pomeranian today, he was still eating, drinking and playing like normal. Also, some breeds seem to be more prone to dental disease, these are usually the smaller breeds like Yorkies, Maltese and Poodles. If you are not sure, have your Vet take a closer look. Dental health is a very important part of the longevity and comfort of your pet. Remember February is National Pet Dental Month and many hospitals including Animal Ark offer complimentary dental screens and dental care kits as well as discounts on dental procedures. When the colder weather is here, it can be especially challenging for our pets living outside. We highly recommend bringing all pets indoors in the freezing winter weather. Here are some tips to follow: • The outdoor pet needs an adequate shelter that provides a shield from the wind, cold and moisture. The house should be raised a few inches off the ground and make sure that your pet can get in easily. Straw bedding is a good insulator; some pet stores carry safe, heated floor mats to help warm bedding. • The outdoor pet will need additional food to sustain body temperature and make sure there is fresh water at all times. When temperatures drop, the water can freeze. Heated pet bowls are also a solution. • Antifreeze is highly toxic to both cats and dogs. They are attracted to the sweet smell and taste. It only takes a small sample, which is rapidly absorbed in the body, to do harm. This type of poisoning has a high mortality rate. Initial signs appear within one hour after ingestion. The most common are stumbling, vomiting, and depression. The kidneys are mostly affected and even if the animal seems to improve with treatment, they may succumb in a short period of time due to kidney failure. This usually happens 12-24 hours for cats and 36-72 hours for dogs. If antifreeze poisoning is suspected you must seek emergency veterinary help immediately. • Some brake and transmission fluids as well as diethylene glycol used in color film processing are some other poisons. • Salt and other chemicals used to melt snow and ice can irritate the pads of their feet and their mouth. Make sure to wipe all feet with a damp towel before your pet licks them. • Cats are attracted to the warm engine of your parked car. To avoid the possibility of injury, bang on your car’s hood to scare them away before starting the engine. • For the indoor dogs that go out for their walks, you need to wipe off the stomach and all feet. Snow and ice can attach to their hair and form ice balls. Our best recommendation is to keep all pets indoors where it is safe and warm.

We use every pro-bono means at our disposal to raise public awareness about homeless animals and responsible pet care as well as to find homes for our dogs. Dogs who are not adopted will live out their lives at Ruff Love. All donations are tax deductible.
