Dale eld Premier Men’s Hockey Team
Dale eld won the 2019 and 2020 Hockey Wellington Premier Men’s Championships, their third and fourth titles in six years. In 2019, Dale eld beat defending champions Hutt United 2-1 in atrocious conditions. The win was all the more special, with player-coach Dane Lett away with the Black Sticks. Dale eld achieved their rst unbeaten season in 2020, winning all 14 games, culminating in a 3-1 win over surprise nalists Harbour City. Dane Lett, Trent Lett, Jordan Cohen, and Benedict van Woerkom represented Central Falcons, who won the Premier Hockey League.
Dale eld Premier Women’s Hockey Team
Dale eld won the 2020 Hockey Wellington Premier Women’s Championship beating erce rivals Hutt United in a tense nal, 1-0 in a shootout, after the scores were locked together at 2-2 at fulltime. Goalkeeper Amy Rossiter-Stead was the hero for Dale eld, saving all ve of Hutt’s shootout attempts, while Katherine van Woerkom held her nerve and converted her attempt in the last play of the game. The championship was Dale eld’s rst since 2017, and third in ve years. Felicity Reidy played for the champion Central Falcons in the Premier Hockey League.
Masterton Golf Duncan Cup Team
Masterton won the prestigious Duncan Cup for the rst time in the club’s history in 2019, beating New Judgeford at Royal Wellington. Masterton dominated the morning foursomes 4-1, and won the singles 6-4 for a 10-5 victory. The team completed the double in 2020, convincingly beating Shandon 9-6 in very wet and windy conditions at Paraparaumu Beach. Again Masterton led 4-1 after the morning foursomes, and they wrapped up their second title, with two matches still on the course. The Duncan Cup is regarded by many as New Zealand’s toughest interclub competition to win.
Wairarapa Men’s Bowls Team
Wairarapa belied their underdog status to win a bronze medal at the National Intercentre Championships in Wellington in March 2021. Wairarapa had never previously quali ed for the top eight, but in the end came within a whisker of reaching the nal. The team made the quarter nals with wins over Nelson, Hawke’s Bay, Central Otago, and Kapiti Coast in pool play. In the quarters they defeated Manawatu. That set up a semi nal against Auckland and Wairarapa pushed their international-laden opponents all the way, only going down o the very last bowl.
