Y de repente nació. Llegó como un flechazo, como un relámpago. Llegó e hizo un ruido similar al que hacen los fuegos artificiales en Navidad pero que también se parecía a las tonadas de mi canción favorita.

Cuando Esperanza nació no pude dejar de verla. Tenía un talento mágico que le permitia saltar por todos lados, se movía, jugaba, bailaba.
Era imparable.
When Hope was born, I couldn’t help but watch her. She had a magical talent that allowed her to jump everywhere, she moved, played, danced. She was unstoppable.
Esperanza nació y supo encontrar un lugar en cada sitio al que yo iba. La podía llevar en el bolsillo, en el monedero, y cabía hasta en el espacio que hay entre mi pulsera y mi muñeca.
Hope was born and knew how to find a place in every spot I went. I could carry her in my pocket, in my purse, and she even fit in the space between my bracelet and my wrist.
Su lugar favorito era sobre mi hombro. Ahí, a veces tomaba café, desde ahí leía el periódico conmigo y a veces hasta sacaba una sillita y tomaba ahi el sol.
Her favorite place was on my shoulder. Sometimes she drank coffee from there, read the newspaper with me, and sometimes she even brought out a little chair and soaked up the sun.
