Ravi Waldon is the President, Founder, and majority-owner of Waldon Studio Architects. Christa Kerrigan, Principal and Director of Business Development, and Robert Lyon, Principal and Technical Director, came into corporate ownership in January of 2019. The WSA leadership team also includes five additional Principals. HOLISTIC APPROACH TO COMMUNITY DESIGN Community centers serve many important functions within communities and meet the needs of multiple generations of users. They need to be comfortable spaces where residents can gather and make important decisions, athletes hone their skills, and seniors find support and camaraderie. These types of facilities require a holistic approach to design that encompasses decisions relating to the volume of space within the facility, how the space is illuminated, the art on the walls, and even how residents flow from one space to another and interact with others along the way promotes order, harmony and community. DESIGN FOR 21ST CENTURY LEARNING Collaborative learning, safety and security, flexible environments, and community school design are at the forefront of architectural design in the Education sector. Schools are challenged to upgrade aging buildings, to ensure the safety and security of students and staff, and to implement standards consistently to deliver environments best suited for learning and student engagement. WSA has extensive experience in primary, secondary and higher education design. Our K-12 Education practice has worked with over 80 public schools in over 10 counties within Maryland and the District of Columbia as well as more than 15 private schools throughout the region. We employ best practices in design for 21st century learning (Critical Thinking, Creativity, Collaboration and Communication), creating innovative learning environments that include STEM labs, dental and physical therapy labs, micro-farm and agro-culinary environments, and maker spaces. We have managed safety and security upgrades at nearly 30 schools. Whether we’re working on feasibility studies, renovations, or new construction, we work with school systems to maintain standards and ensure consistency.

DESIGNING SPACES FOR A HIGHER PURPOSE For faith-based organizations, creating spaces that strengthen the connections with their community (both inside and outside the physical structure) and that flex to changing worship needs while serving as an extension of their ministry is paramount. The changing landscape of worship facilities can mean adapting non-traditional spaces, blending technology with traditional worship environments, or creating spaces from housing to community centers that support the broader community within the context of ministering to the entire community.
