PADI BUBBLEMAKER
For our younger guests and budding dive enthusiasts (8-10 years), Kokomo is delighted to offer PADI’s Bubblemaker Program. Designed to introduce children to scuba diving, the PADI Bubblemaker Program teaches children how to blow bubbles and how to take their first breaths underwater, in the safety of a pool. At the end of the program, all children will receive a PADI certificate, along with a beach towel, stickers and Bubblemaker Water Toy.
PADI SEAL TEAM
Another treat for children 8 years and above is PADI’s Seal Team program. After learning basic scuba skills such as breathing underwater, recovering a regulator and experiencing weightlessness, you will have the opportunity to complete AquaMissions and become a recognized PADI Seal Team Member. With no experience necessary, this is a fantastic opportunity for action-packed fun in the main resort pool or pool of your private villa or residence.
PADI DISCOVER SCUBA DIVING
Learn to scuba dive under the watchful eye of Kokomo’s experienced dive instructors during a shore dive. Experience the thrill of breathing underwater for the first time, whilst learning key skills. While you won’t walk away with a certification, PADI’s Discover Scuba Dive is the perfect introduction for guests (10 years +) interested in exploring Kokomo’s house reef. After your Discover Scuba Dive, your next step will be PADI’s Open Water Diver Course.
PADI OPEN WATER DIVER
Take the first step to becoming a certified diver with PADI’s Open Water Diver Course. As the certification will take four days to complete, we recommend completing your e-Learning prior to arriving on Kokomo, so that you can spend more time exploring and less time studying. To achieve your certification, you will need to complete: theory sessions, a written exam, swim tests, 5 sessions in the shallows, and 4 open water dives at sites near to the resort.
The minimum age to start the Open Water Diver course is 10.
Divers 10-11 will earn a Junior Diver certification and can dive to a maximum depth of 12m (40ft). After obtaining their certification, they must always dive with a certified adult.
Divers 12-14 will earn a Junior Diver certification and can dive to a maximum depth of 18m (60ft). After obtaining their certification, they must always dive with a certified adult.
Divers 15 years or older will earn an Open Water Diver certification and can dive to a maximum depth of 18m (60ft).
Upon turning 15, Junior Divers will automatically become Open Water Divers.
PADI SCUBA DIVER COURSE
A subset of PADI’s Open Water Diver certification, this course is perfect for guests who are short on time, and interested in scuba diving with a guide in the future.
PADI Scuba Divers are qualified to dive under the direct supervision of a PADI Professional to a maximum depth of 12m (40ft). To achieve your certification, you will need to complete: theory sessions, 3 shallow water sessions, swim tests and 2 open water dives.
The minimum age to start the PADI Scuba Diver course is 10.
Divers 10-11 will earn a Junior Scuba Diver certification and can dive to a maximum depth of 12m (40ft). After obtaining their certification, they must always dive with a certified adult.
Divers 12-14 will earn a Junior Diver certification and can dive to a maximum depth of 18m (60ft). After obtaining their certification, they must always dive with a certified adult.
Divers 15 years or older will earn an Open Water Diver certification and can dive to a maximum depth of 18m (60ft).

PADI ADVENTURE DIVER
Complete three Adventure Dives at Kokomo Private Island and earn PADI’s Adventure Diver certification, a subset of PADI’s Advanced Open Water Diver Course. This course is suited to guests who have completed PADI’s Open Water Dive Course (12 years+), are interested in extending their skills, but who don’t have time to complete PADI’s Advanced Open Water course. Adventure dives offered by Kokomo include: Deep, Navigation, Search & Recovery, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Night, Drift, Coral Reef Conservation, Project AWARE, Fish Identification, Underwater Photographer and Underwater Naturalist.
The minimum age to start the PADI Adventure Diver course is 10.
Divers 10-11 will earn a Junior Adventure Diver certification and can dive to a maximum depth of 12m (40ft). They may only participate in Adventure Dives suitable to their depth and experience level. After obtaining their certification, they must always dive with a certified adult.
Divers 12-14 will earn a Junior Adventure Diver certification and can dive to a maximum depth of 21m (70ft).
After obtaining their certification, they must always dive with a certified adult.
Divers 15 years or older will earn an Adventure Diver certification and can dive to a maximum depth of 21m (70ft).
PADI ADVANCED OPEN WATER
Guests who have completed PADI’s Open Water Diver Course (10 years+) can advance their skills during five adventure dives. After completing your eLearning, ta deep dive (beyond 18m (59ft)), a navigation dive and three additional adventure dives of your choice.
Tailor your experience to your interests with options for night diving and underwater photography, among the adventure dives offered by Kokomo.
The minimum age to start the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is 10.
Divers 10-11 will earn a Junior Advanced Open Water Diver certification and can dive to a maximum depth of 12m (40ft).
After obtaining their certification, they must always dive with a certified adult.
Divers 12-14 will earn a Junior Advanced Open Water Diver certification and can dive to a maximum depth of 21m (70ft).
After obtaining their certification, they must always dive with a certified adult.
Divers 15 years and older will earn an Advanced Open Water Diver certification and can dive to a maximum of 30m (100ft)
PADI EMERGENCY FIRST RESPONSE
Emergency First Response training focuses on building confidence in lay rescuers and increasing their willingness to respond when faced with medical emergencies. Learn simple to follow steps for emergency care and practice applying skills in a nonstressful learning environment. A great pre-requisite for guests interested in completing PADI’s Rescue Diver Course. We recommend completing this course over 2 days.
PADI RESCUE DIVER
Enhance your ability to identify and manage potential problems in the water by practicing dive emergency protocol. Through knowledge development and rescue exercises, you will learn what to look for and how to respond, before practicing your knowledge and skills during rescue scenarios. Suitable for guests who have completed PADI’s Adventure Diver Course and Emergency First Response training within the last 24 months.
The minimum age to start the PADI Rescue Diver course is 12.
Divers 12-14 will earn a Junior Rescue Diver certification and can dive to a maximum depth of 21m (70ft). After obtaining their certification, they must always dive with a certified adult.
Divers 15 years or older will earn a Rescue Diver certification and can dive to a maximum depth of 30m (98ft).

Certified divers interested in exploring the Great Astrolabe Reef have an array of options available. Choose from a single tank dive, a two-tank dive or a five-tank package to be used throughout your stay. Beginners will enjoy shallow channels, soft coral bommies, a kaleidoscope of colours and a plethora of marine life, while advanced divers looking for something more thrilling, can explore deep drop-offs, caverns, and drift diving.

All guests, whether certified or an introductory diver have the option of 1 x house reef dive per adult, per stay included in their room rate.
SHORE NIGHT DIVE
1 HOUR
Experience our underwater world in a different light. With the stars shining overhead, meet your dive instructor on West Beach for an introduction to night diving. Watch as the world comes to life under the glow of your dive torch. See nocturnal organisms emerge under the cover of darkness, keeping your eyes peeled for crustaceans, baby reef sharks and luminescent plankton.
PRIVATE DIVING
Make the most of your experience with a private dive. Set your goal for each dive and allow a certified dive instructor to take you to the best dive site for you. We will tailor each dive to your experience level, ensuring that you are able to explore our underwater world at your own pace, free from distractions. Return to the surface in awe of our impressive barrier reef. Private diving guests are required to charter a boat, subject to availability. Private Boat Charter prices are applicable.
MAY – OCTOBER
This is the best time of year for diving at Kokomo. During these months the water temperature is slightly cooler, sitting at a comfortable 24˚C (75˚F), meanwhile, the magnificent big blue offers fantastic visibility with clear viewing of up to 60m (197ft), rarely dropping below 25m (82ft).
DIVE SITES
With access to over 30 unique dive and snorkelling sites in the Great Astrolabe Reef and Solo Reef, guests of Kokomo are spoilt with choice. Experience something different, each day of your stay. Explore the mysterious caverns of the Grotto, navigating caves and passages in the deep calm of the ocean. Be captivated by coral bommies, decorating the floor of Wonderland, where anemonefish float in and out of the soft corals.
Or discover the sweeping slopes of Side Street. The reef flat is a treasure chest of hard corals, while the drop off is home to an abundance of pelagic creatures. Allow our experienced dive team to recommend a location, best suited to your experience level.
NOVEMBER – APRIL
While diving is a year round activity at Kokomo, the sea is at its calmest and the water temperature is at its warmest during these months, reaching up to 30˚C (86˚F). Visibility is approximately 20m (66ft), and is subject to change due to the more unpredictable weather this time of year.
CORAL DIVES
The Great Astrolabe Reef and Solo Reef are packed full of flourishing hard and soft corals with stunning colourful reef fish such as anthias and damsels for your pleasure.
MANTA SEASON
April - October is Manta Season in the pristine waterways surrounding Kokomo. During this time, snorkelers and divers will likely see these beloved gentle giants.
CAVE DIVE
Come check out one of our favourite caves at dive site ‘Grotto’. This fantastic network of caves and swim throughs is an exciting adventure for curious divers
DRIFT DIVES
We keep it nice and relaxed at Kokomo. The majority of our dives are drift dives. Cruise with the current, benefiting from the air above you.
SWIMTHROUGHS
Many of our sites across the Great Astrolabe Reef have fun swim through passages, perfect for certified divers to explore with their guides.
MACRO DIVES
Despite the awesome megafauna we do not forget about our macrofauna! Come on a Macro Dive to discover some beautiful shrimps, nudibranchs, flatworms and many more!
Many of our sites such as ‘Corner’ and ‘Rainbows End’ have lush steep walls of soft corals to enjoy.
