PARRAMAT TA , SYDNEY ’S GROW TH STORY Sydney’s dramatic story of growth and change over the last decade has been driven largely by the western half of the metropolis – and the epicentre of this exciting transformation is the city of Parramatta. The natural growth of this region has been accompanied by a powerful change in the demographics of the area. The population of Parramatta is younger, more educated, more productive, more connected and earning higher incomes than in most parts of the state. All this change represents a fantastic opportunity for progressive businesses to harness the skills, energy and talent of Sydney’s most dynamic growth story.

CASE STUDY

A METROPOLIS OF THREE CITIES “When people stand in Parramatta, they won’t be looking East for the best jobs, they’ll be looking West for the best jobs.” Gladys Berejiklian • NSW State Premier The Greater Sydney Commission’s plan to create a Metropolis of Three Cities will balance social and economic growth throughout Greater Sydney.

For the Metropolis to realise its full potential, bold initiatives such the New South Wales Government ‘Decade of Decentralisation’ are critical to stimulate the Western Sydney economy. With the committed infrastructure and services investment into Parramatta, the vision of the Central River City as the 30 minute city is becoming more of a reality every day.

Parramatta, the Central River City is set to play a pivotal role in this polycentric approach to place making.

Sydney’s newest underground metro railway will represent a ‘once in a century’ infrastructure investment by the NSW Government, underpinning its continued commitment in enhancing the connectivity of East and West Sydney.

Working in conjunction with the existing T1 Western Line, the rail capacity will effectively be doubled between Sydney CBD and Parramatta. In addition, linking communities not previously serviced by rail will increase housing supply, boost employment and expand the region between these two centres.

With extensive community and industry engagement, the Sydney Metro West scope of works has been expanded and will connect the Sydney CBD to The Bays Precinct, Sydney Olympic Park, Parramatta CBD and Westmead.
