Arts + Rec CODE OF CONDUCT

Arts + Rec programs and events will follow current California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS) requirements for COVID-19 precautions at the time the program begins. At the time of publication of this guide, the following requirements are in place. If CDPH or CCHS guidance is updated, we will align our safety protocols and requirements accordingly. Use Spaces as Intended All spaces, equipment, materials, and furniture are for designated Arts + Rec program use only and may not be removed or altered without permission.

Be Considerate of Others • Masks: All individuals ages 2 and older entering Arts + Rec facilities must wear a face covering/mask.

• Wellness Checks: Specific high risk classes are required to complete wellness screenings to be able to participate. If your interested class falls into this category, additional information will be emailed to you.

• Proof of Vaccination: • Classes: All participants age 12 and older taking indoor dance, yoga, sports, and music classes (where wind instruments are being played) will be required to show proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test results from the past three days.

• Lesher Center for the Arts and Bedford Gallery: Proof of full vaccination for guests age 12 and older is required for entry.

Respectful behavior is expected at all times. People that are inconsiderate or discourteous to others may be asked to leave the class and / or the program.

Communicate with Respect All communication must be made with positive intent.

Harassing and demeaning language or gestures towards others, including behavior such as yelling, physical contact, or obscene language, will not be tolerated.

Act Responsibly We want our program spaces to be places where all people can learn and grow in a safe and supportive environment.

Lifeguard Certification Courses Lifeguard Training leads the way to a great summer job or a challenging career as a professional lifeguard. American Red Cross Certification courses are available throughout the year with Walnut Creek Aquatics, visit walnut-creek.org/aquatics for more information.

Employment The Walnut Creek Aquatics team is now recruiting for yearround and seasonal lifeguards. All applicants must possess a lifeguard certificate. To apply for a lifeguard position, visit walnut-creek.org/jobs.

BOUNDARY OAK GOLF COURSE Golf Course & Driving Range

Rec Swim Recreational swim is available at Clarke Swim Center on Saturday & Sunday from 12:00pm – 4:00pm. Daily admission fee applies.

Youth Competitive Swim and Stroke Class Sessions are designed with the summer-recreational swim team swimmer in mind. Instruction includes each of the four competitive strokes and their associated turns, skills and drills.

Now On View If A Tree Falls: Art of the Boundary Oak Oct 30, 2021 - Feb 13, 2022 This exhibition memorializes the City of Walnut Creek’s signature Valley Oak, which tragically fell during a windstorm in October 2019. As a tribute to the tree’s long life and rich history, which spanned 325 years, 64 Bay Area artists created artworks from its wood, offering this monumental being a second life.

Bedford volunteers also receive special opportunities to visit Bay Area artist studios, museums and galleries and attend luncheon programs featuring fascinating guest speakers, health and safety protocols permitting. The Lesher Center for the Arts is safer than ever before with new state-ofthe-art ventilation systems and filters, ionized cleaning of touchpoints between every performance, and hand sanitizing stations throughout. special events Family & Holiday Special Events Letters to Santa Your little one can write to Santa at the North Pole and will receive a personalized letter from Santa, a Nice Certificate and some stickers! Once registered, have your child write and mail their letter to Santa by 12/15 at 5pm. Santa and his elves will reply back via USPS. North Pole Post mailboxes are located at Shadelands Art Center and the Downtown Library’s back entrance near the surface parking lot where curbside book pickup is. Senior Transportation Program The Transportation Program provides rides to adults 60+ or those with disabilities/ health conditions, allowing them the freedom to get where they need to be within the borders of Walnut Creek. The City of Walnut Creek Art + Rec is utilizing the Lyft Pass with Lyft (a ride sharing app) to expand its transportation services. This is in addition to the Mini Bus Program that will be operating on a fixed route and schedule. There are two memberships the All-Access Pass and the Concierge Pass, both include access to the Mini Bus Program. REGISTRATION POLICIES

CODE OF CONDUCT: Walnut Creek Arts + Rec strives to create an inclusive community and respectfully requests that all people in our programs and spaces (staff, students, teachers, volunteers, and guests) use spaces as intended, be considerate of others, communicate with respect, and act responsibly. We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone for failure to abide by the Arts + Rec Code of Conduct, available at http://bit.ly/ ArtsRecCodeOfConduct.

PRE-REGISTRATION: Pre-registration is required for participation in programs. Please do not attend a program if you have not been registered.

WITHDRAWALS: If you wish to withdraw, call us at least seven (7) calendar days before the start date for a refund. A $12 withdrawal fee per person, per program will be charged. No refunds or credits after this time.

Refunds are processed within three weeks. No refunds for non-attendance or lack of student participation.

TRANSFERS: If you wish to transfer to another course within the same session, call us at least seven (7) calendar days before the start date for a transfer to be processed.

QUALITY ASSURANCE: If, after attending the first class, you are not happy with the quality of the program, call us right away.

Tell us what was wrong so we can make it right.

WAITING LISTS: Waiting lists are established once a program has reached maximum enrollment. If space opens or a new program is created, you will be notified.

CANCELLATION: A program may be cancelled if minimum enrollment is not met. A full refund is available. If a session is canceled due to weather and no make-up class is offered, a refund will be provided.

MAKE-UP CLASSES: Make-up dates for missed classes will only be granted for class cancellations resulting from inclement weather or from direction of the Arts + Recreation Department.

ADA ACCOMMODATIONS: In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the City of Walnut Creek encourages those with disabilities to participate in our programs.

PAYMENT & ACCOUNT CREDIT POLICIES: • Fees must be paid in full at time of registration by cash, credit card or check payable to the City of Walnut Creek, unless otherwise stated.

• All payments are processed upon receipt.

• Supply fees are payable to the instructor at the first class. Please do not include supply fees with your registration fees. Supply fees are non-refundable.

• If payment plans are offered, customers must provide a credit card for automatic payment processing.

• All credits on account are valid for a maximum of one year.
