Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, and welcome to Cricklefields for this Ryman League Division 1 North match with Aveley. We hope their supporters, players and officials have a pleasant stay with us, and a safe journey home. We also extend a warm welcome to our team of match officials today. We begin today's programme with some sad news. If you haven't already heard, our former Chairman Terry Back passed away on Wednesday after being involved in a traffic accident. Terry was only our Chairman for just over a year and a half, but he made a lasting impression on us all. He came into the club only a matter of hours before the league affiliation fees were due at the start of the 2006-7 season, and stumped up the cash, despite having only just met Andy Perkins. to running the club meant that he spent most of the months before the start of the season acting as grounds man and coach, as well as Chairman. That season was no doubt one of our most enjoyable seasons of recent times, both on and off the field. We only just missed out on the play-offs by a point or two in the end, but it was a thoroughly enjoyable time, and Terry, alongside Danny Honeyball and Victor Renner created a team spirit that I don’t think we've ever come close to matching in recent years. On a personal level, I have a lot to thank Terry for. He gave me my first job, aged just 17 as a coach for his soccer schools. His methods may not have always been the most orthodox, but if it was not for Terry, we would not have a club to continue supporting today. So thanks for everything Terry, and rest in peace. Last Wednesday saw us run out 8-1 winners against Bowers & Pitsea in the Essex Senior Cup. In all honesty, Bowers were like rabbits in the headlights, and were powerless to stop our attacking football. It seems as if the players learnt almost overnight from the Soham defeat that if we do
not shoot, we won't score. Far too often against Soham we were guilty of trying to walk the ball into the net. Wednesday saw a complete turnaround, and we were shooting with almost every opportunity. It was great to see Tunde score his first goals for the club, and I'm sure it will spur him on. In the two games that he has started - against Grays and Bowers - he has looked very impressive, and seems to be growing in confidence with every minute he plays. The draw for the next round of the Essex Senior Cup is due to be made at the start of next week. In the Ryman League Cup, we have been given a home draw against Canvey Island, who demolished Ilford 6-1 in the last round. That game will take place on the 25th of November. Ryman League Division One North outfit Harlow Town have confirmed that striker Fernando Manuel has left the club. Manuel has made eight senior appearances for the Hawks this term. The 26-year-old has found the net once so far this season. The Hawks still hold his registration at this moment in time.
mid-week round-up Aveley moved up to third in the table with a 4-1 home victory over Sudbury on Monday. They took the lead through Paul Burnett in the eighth minute but Leon Antoine's glancing header from a corner quickly levelled the scores. There was then a great deal of frustration for the home side, who were always on top but could not find a way past defiant keeper Fred Howe. Two substitutions eventually tipped the scales. Petrit Elbi had only been in the action for five minutes when he restored Aveley's lead in the 79th minute and fellow-sub Shane Oakley quickly added another, a fine solo effort. Elbi added the fourth, the tenth goal conceded by Sudbury in three days. It is not going according to plan for the pre-season title favourites. That result pushed Grays down to fourth place but 24 hours later they were on top after two early goals earned them a 2-0 victory at Potters Bar. The hosts started the game in second place but were stunned as Jack West and Harry Agombar struck in the first 16 minutes. Grays are a point clear of Maldon but the previous leaders have two games in hand. Heybridge moved closer to the leading group with a 3-2 home win over Cheshunt, who led twice. After a goalless first half,
Andrew West put the visitors ahead immediately after the restart and, after Luke Callander levelled matters five minutes later, Tony Burke put the Ambers ahead again on the hour. Michael Cheek squared it once more and Callander grabbed the winner with eight minutes left. The most predictable result was at Thamesmead, who made it five home wins out of five by beating bottom club Ware, yet to take a point on their travels. But it was not as easy as the respective records might suggest and Thamesmead had to settle for a single goal from Jack Hopkins in the 34th minute. Chances galore went astray at both ends as Brentwood and Waltham Abbey somehow reached half-time with the scoresheet blank. Abbey’s Chris Sargent headed home a corner after 57 minutes to break the deadlock and Clark Akers punished the home side’s failure to clear their lines nine minutes later to give the Abbotts a 2-0 victory.
Duo return to tilbury Ryman League Division One North club Tilbury have again been busy on the player front. They have announced that centre-half Joe Nightingill has returned to the club after only a week away at Grays Athltic. Nightingill announced that it was a mistake leaving the club, and "once a Docker always a Docker". Last season's Supporters Player of the Year Steve Good has also made a welcome return to the club.

swifts urged to carry on Mark Hawkes, manager of Ryman League Division One North club Heybridge Swifts, has challenged his side to keep up their winning ways. The Scraley Road team continued their excellent October with a 3-2 success at home to Ryman League Division One North rivals Cheshunt on Tuesday and a 4-2 against Tilbury on Saturday. It means they are unbeaten in the league this month, having also beaten Witham Town, Waltham Forest and drawn at Potters Bar. The only blemish was last week’s 1-0 Ryman League Cup defeat at Wroxham. Now Hawkes (pictured) wants them to build on their flying
form and he is hoping for more points in Saturday’s home match against AFC Sudbury. “Consistency is the key,” he said. “We know that on our day we’re good enough to beat any side in the division. “I’m very happy with the players’ attitude, work-rate and workethic. “They get on well and there’s an excellent spirit within the camp, in addition to lots of quality. “But we need to be more consistent and it would be great to string five or six victories together, to see where it takes us.”

Shelvey Waltham Forest romped into the fourth round of the Essex Senior Cup by hammering Bowers & Pitsea 8-1. In doing so, Forest achieved their biggest win since April 2004, and scored eight goals for the first time in their history. In slightly foggy conditions Forest started brightly, but we guilty, as on Saturday, with failing to pull the trigger. Manu Dagher gave Forest the lead, heading in at the back post despite being marked by two players, converting a Whitely cross. Tunde Adewunmi then went close to scoring his first goal for the club, rattling the crossbar with a header from a Douglas Corner. Bowers levelled soon after though, with George Shelvey capitalising on some lax Forest defending and rolling the ball past Omand. Parity did not last long, as Dagher got his second after turning on a sixpence in the Bowers box before firing home at the near post. After half time the floodgates opened. Corey Whitely exchanged a neat one-two with Arian Retkoceri before firing low past Doyle. Adewunmi had a goal disallowed for offside before Forest v Aveley - Page 8
scoring his first goal for the club. Retkoceri was felled on the edge of the area, but the ball fell to Adewunmi who scored with a front-post finish. The front man then secured his second of the game in almost comical fashion. Doyle charged out to clear a long ball over the top, but misjudged the bounce and could only head the ball tamely into Adewunmi path. The striker then calmly rolled the ball into the empty net. Joel Palmer was brought on and began to create problems, forcing a good low save from Doyle. At the other end Omand was called into action on a couple of occasions, saving well from two long-range efforts. Dave Bryan got his first goal for the club after being supplied by Whitely with a perfect pass, enabling him to take a touch before rolling the ball into the corner of the net. Manu Dagher could have had a hat trick, but after waltzing into the box, his shot was cleared off the line. Joel Palmer got Forest’s 7th with a half volley from just inside the box, before Corey Whitely completed the rout with a powerful shot from
the edge of the area. Soham Town Rangers 2-1 Waltham Forest, Saturday 20th October Soham recorded their first home League victory of the season, but for the fourth consecutive game came from behind to get a result. Waltham Forest started the game brightly creating a number of opportunities in the opening ten minutes. Palmer twice got in on goal but failed to test Bircham with tame shots, before the keeper pulled off a diving save to keep out Ordono. Leachman then had a goal bound shot blocked in front of the line by Bromwich, before the ball was cleared out of the area but only to Clifton whose shot from distance found the top corner of the net, but this was ruled out by the linesman for offside. Palmer then headed just wide from a freekick before Soham had their first attack at goal in the eleventh minute, but Harradine fired across goal and wide, whilst McCabe volleyed wide a minute later. The visitors edge the next spell of the game, but neither side really created any clear chances. Forest thought they had a strong call for a penalty after half an hour
Match action when Whitley appeared to be tripped by Baucutt inside the area, but the officials allowed play to continue, before Bircham made two very important diving saves to push over efforts from Leachman after the striker had got in good positions. With five minutes of the half remaining, the Greens were forced into a change as Sofian Bennour replaced the injured Scott Davis at full back. However a minute later and Forest opened the scoring when Dagher received a freekick down the left, delivering it across the area towards the back post allowing Corey Whitley an easy finish at the back post. Robinson and Palmer both had half chances early after the restart before Clifton’s shot was deflected behind and Dagher hit the outside of the post after receiving a ball across the area. McCabe and Palmer then put wide before McCabe received a ball over top of the Forest defence on the area, but after getting into the area Omand came out, spreading himself to deny. Clifton had another shot deflected behind, while Whitley was released down the right, but after cutting into the area placed across goal, before the visitors made a double change midway through the half as Adian Retkoceri and Tunde Adewunmi replaced Joel Palmer and Jack Leachman, whilst the Greens made a tactical change of their own and started pushing more players forward. And this paid off in the 71st minute when Omand pushed Harradine’s corner backwards to Baucutt, whose shot was blocked. The ball was then cleared from the area, with Simpson flicking Paxman’s ball onto Matt Robinson who fired high into the net. Clifton came close to restoring Waltham’s advantage
with the next attack but fired low and wide from distance. However with just under ten minutes remaining Soham took the lead for themselves when Baucutt’s long throw was flicked into the middle of the 6-yard area where Robinson played it back to Michael Simpson to head past Omand. The visitors then pushed more forward looking for their equaliser but Whitley placed wide from Ordano’s throw. However Bircham ensured that the hosts extended their unbeaten run making three more saves in the closing stages; firstly coming off his line to deny Clifton, with Adewunmi collecting the loose ball but placed just over with the follow up. The keeper then pushed away Ordano’s curling freekick before pushing another Clifton effort behind late into stoppage time. WARE BRING IN WINGATE DUO Kristian Munt, manager of Ryman League Division One North club Ware, has agreed a deal with Ryman Premier side Wingate & Finchley for the one month loan of striker Kayan Kalipha and midfielder Tashan Bradshaw-Brown. Kalipha has previously played at Ryman League Division One North side Tilbury. Bradshaw-Brown came through Wingate's youth system before recently holding down a place in the first team. WITHERSPOON EYES TROPHY UPSET Ryman League Division One North club Brentwood Town head for more cup glory on Saturday with another £3,250 of prize money at stake when they
host Ryman League Premier Division side Lewes in the FA Trophy Second Qualifying Round. And manager Steve Witherspoon is confident his side, rejuvenated with two successive wins after their three consecutive defeats, can upset the Sussex side. "There's no pressure on our players as we're playing a side one level above us, we're at home and with nothing to lose and everything to gain," he declared. "We went to Walton & Hersham in the previous round and deservedly won and collected £2,550 in prize money. "Now we have home advantage and more prize money available which is always important to a club like ours," he said. "We made a little money out of our FA Cup run and that all helps." One key player though who will be missing is the experienced defender Darren Blewitt who will be serving a two match suspension. "Everyone is available and fit and we'll be giving it a real go." Witherspoon also praised his players for getting back in the winning habit after their recent mini slump in form adding: "It's all about confidence and I know we have a good squad at the club and on our day we can play the kind of attractive football I want us to play and also get the results."

aveley AVELEY FOOTBALL CLUB was formed in 1927 and played in local leagues until 1939. Club activities were then suspended during the war years 1939/45. In 1946 the club was reformed and joined the Thurrock Combination. Aveley twice won the Essex Junior Cup, firstly in 1948, then retaining it the following year. Aveley gained Senior League status in season 1949/50 and were elected into the London League, Division One. They were Division Champions in the 1951/52 season. In the same season they moved from Lodge Meadow to their present ground, Mill Field, and were promptly nicknamed last match... The Millers. In season 1954/55 Monday 22nd October they were Division Champions 2012 once again which was followed by Ryman League Division 1 election to The Delphian League North in 1955/56. They competed in this league until 1962/63 with little Attendance: 101 success. 1963/64 saw Millers Aveley 4 join the Athenian League. Full membership of the Football AFC Sudbury 1 Association was granted in 1964/65. Season 1970/71 was Aveley: Ronnie Worster, probably the clubs most successful Marcus Rose, Alfred Kaone. The first round proper of the F mara, Jay Leader, Luke WilA Cup was reached along with the son, Danny Hopkins, Junior F A Amateur Cup quarter-finals, Dadson (Shane Oakley 62’), they were also Champions of the Billy Holland (c), Jordan Athenian League. 1973/74. Here they competed without success in Division One until they were relegated to Division Two North at the end of the 1985/86 season. Millers did however achieve two cup successes during this time. The Essex Thames-Side Challenge Trophy was won in 1979/80 and the Hornchurch Charity Cup in 1982/83. The 1989/90 campaign was a memorable one for The Millers. Promotion back to Division One was gained with a tremendous end of season runin to finish second to Heybridge Swifts by two points. This was followed by a 3-0 victory over Premier Division St.Albans in the final of the A.C.Delco (League) Cup. This made Aveley the first team from the lowest division to win this competition. After this the club slipped down to Division Three and cup successes were limited to appearances in the finals of both the East Anglian Cup and the The Essex Thames-Side Challenge Trophy in 1997/98. The 1999 / 2000 season started well with Aveley being unbeaten in the League at Christmas. However a turn in fortunes saw them slip and eventually finish 9th. This was followed by 6th place in season 2000/01. A roller-coaster season 2001/02 saw the club finish
third behind Hornchurch and champions Croydon Athletic and gain promotion to Division 1 North. An excellent season for the Millers in 2002/03. Good runs in the FA Cup and Bryco Cup were capped by an appearance in the Essex Senior Cup Final. This did not go Millers way however with Chelmsford City winning 5-0. The Third Qualifying Round of the FA Cup was reached, eventually losing out to Canvey Island 2-0. A good run-in saw Millers finish in sixth place in the League. The 2003/04 campaign saw the club eventually finish in 14th place. Millers matched the previous seasons performance and reached the final of the Essex Senior Cup. This time a much improved display saw them go down 3-1 to local rivals Thurrock. The final game of the season was another cup final. This time in the East Anglian Cup, and a visit to Spalding United. After taking an early lead this too finished in a 3-1 defeat for the Millers. 2004/05 was a disappointing one for Millers first season in the Southern League, the club finishing in 15th place. Compensation however, came in the form of the Essex Thames-Side Challenge Trophy. Romford were beaten 1-0 in the final at The Mill Field. Simon Thomas scoring the only goal of the game. Another difficult season followed, on and off the pitch. Millers ended the season with their third manager steering them just clear of the relegation places. Steve Browne had taken over from Keith Day who had succeeded Amin Levit. A poor League season in 2006/07 was again compensated for by winning the
Essex Thames-Side Challenge BILLY HOLLAND Trophy for the second time in POSITION: FORWARD three seasons. Millers came form PREVIOUS CLUBS: a goal down to beat Tilbury 3-1 BETHNAL GREEN at Chadfields. The season also UNITED, WALTHAM saw another managerial change. ABBEY, AFC Steve Browne departed in March. HORNCHURCH This was followed by a caretaker spell under Kevin Head and Alex Smith. The Tree SURGEON Today we attempt to get three points to climb away from the foot of the table against Aveley, relegated from the Ryman premier last season and seemingly determined to get back their Ryman Premier status as quickly as possible. They have quite a few people in their management and in their team with Forest connections. Former favourite Victor Renner is their assistant manager and Kevin Head dis the physio- he of course was both physio and manager for a short while a few seasons ago. On the playing side they have Ricky Edwards who was signed by Wale, season before last but never made a start for us and also Sheldon Sellars who was with the club for a few months when Tony Mercer was in charge. Kalipha who was with us last season under Wale and Ellis sands who had a very successful spell with us last season on work experience from the Orient. Unlike us, they have enjoyed a very good start to the season, currently in fourth position with games in hand on two of the three teams above them - I am certain we would swap places with them. I think enough has been said about last Saturday's visit to Soham Town Rangers - a case of extremely wasteful finishing and some sloppy defending combining to send us to defeat in a match w should have won by a country mile. Despite the relative poor level of the opposition on Wednesday in the Essex Senior Cup, we have to be buoyed by our 8-1 win. Certainly at 1-1 it did look as if we might be in for a night of embarrassment, but after going ahead for the second time, we romped away with the game after half time. It was good to see the goals being spread out once again, but, especially nice to see Tunde getting a couple, about time one of our forwards notched a few goals, even if one of them was a gift from their keeper.
I have gone on record as saying I believe in the ability of this team and I think it was proved, even in defeat on Saturday, that if we could find the net with any consistency, we would be the match of most sides in this division and could, quite rightly, expect to be i the top en at least. Today's game will be tough, but, I hope it is just the sort of challenge we need to bring the best out of ourselves and I honestly feel that a win today could be just the springboard we need to start our climb up the table. If we can combine our approach work of Saturday with the finishing of Wednesday, then we could well be celebrating three points today.

Yate on the CUP TRAIL We haven’t reached the First Round Proper of the competition yet, but it is possible that we will not see a bigger surprise in the rest of this years FA Cup than was seen this evening at Rodney Parade when Yate Town of the Southern League Division One South & West beat Newport County by three goals to one in their Fourth Qualifying Round replay. Eyebrows in nonleague circles were raised by Yate managing a draw in the first match on Saturday afternoon, but to travel to South Wales and beat the leaders of the Blue Square Bet Premier on their own turf is a result that is worthy of all the praise that we can offer. To get an idea of the achievement that this club managed this evening, we should, perhaps, take a moment to consider the distance between the two sides. It is a common trope for the mainstream media to lump all “non-league” clubs in as being some unholy, lumpen mass with nothing to distinguish one from another. in hand on every other team in their division, but they are still bottom of their division with just one point from their first six league matches of the season, and whilst they are four divisions below Newport County in the same way that Barnet are four divisions below Chelsea at the moment, it is also worth bearing in mind that the organisation of non-league football means that the amount of work that a club such as Yate Town would have to do in order to catch Chelsea is considerably greater. There are ninety football clubs that would class themselves as being below Chelsea and above Barnet in footballs food chain. Because of the regional pyramid of nonleague football, however, there are two hundred and sixty-three clubs – twenty-three in the Conference Premier, forty-four in the Conference North & South and sixty-four in each of the Isthmian, Northern Premier and Southern League – that could make the same case between Newport County and Yate Town at present. Of course, the number of promotions required to join them would be the same, but it should also be taken into account that, because of that self-same pyramid system, promotion is that much more difficult to achieve for nonleague clubs. There is no such
thing as automatic promotion and relegation for the two hundred and sixty-five clubs of these divisions. Only the champions of each division are promoted automatically, with the unfortunates that finish below the divisional winners being subjected to the exquisite agony of the play-offs. When we talk of the gap between rich and poor, we are normally talking of the difference between the Premier League and the entire rest of English football. It could, however, be argued that the difference between the Conference National and the rest of non-league football plays out the same differences on a smaller scale. At the time of writing, Newports home attendances sit just shy of the 3,000 mark, whilst Yate Towns average home attendance so far this season is a – perfectly respectable for the level at which they play – 138. The Conference Premier is the only division of the non-league game to receive regular television coverage, and a majority of clubs in this division have teams made up of full-time professional players. Yate, meanwhile, are in their second spell in the Southern League, with the first having come between 1989 and 2000, before relegation took them back to the Hellenic League for
five years before getting promoted back again. Thirty-two years ago, Newport County, as winners of the Welsh Cup, reached the quarterfinals of the European Cup Winners Cup. In the same season, Yate Town were losing in the Second Round of the FA Vase against Hungerford Town. It should also, however, be pointed out that there isn’t necessarily anything for Newport Countys supporters to be overly alarmed about. Last nights result was their first defeat in any competition since they lost successive league matches against Wrexham and Dartford at the start of September, and they remain four points clear of the chasing pack of Wrexham, Luton Town, Grimsby Town, Forest Green Rovers and this seasons surprise package so far, Dartford, at the top of the Conference National table. Their manager, Justin Edinburgh (who has done his reputation no harm at all with his start to the season), was gratifyingly magnanimous in defeat when he spoke to BBC Wales after the match: We’re bitterly disappointed. We let ourselves down. I can’t stand here and defend the players. They know that they’ve not performed. We’ll
evaluate what’s gone wrong over the last two games and make sure that we give everything we can to make sure we put that right on Saturday. Give credit where credit’s due – I wish Yate all the best in the next round. The sense of discontentment from the Newport camp, then, is tangible. Those who tend to see the their cups as being half-empty may fret over damage to the confidence of the team. Those who see their cups as half-full may even take solace from the fact that there will be no further distractions in this competition for their team this season. Time will tell, but the nearest to the truth that might be helpful to the club would be to suggest that everybody has a bad day – or night – at the office every once in a while. For Yate Town, meanwhile, the FA Cup adventure continues, and the reward for their performance last night is a valuable one. Not only have they bagged £12,500 prize money for getting through this round of the competition, but their opponents in the First Round of the competition are League Twos Cheltenham Town, a club just twenty-five miles away. A decent
crowd at Cheltenhams Whaddon Road for that match on top of the accumulated prize money would, even should they lose the match, mean that they will have done very nicely indeed from this years FA Cup. And it would take an epic level of curmudgeonliness to try and suggest that they don’t thoroughly deserve their moment in the sun.

Danny Laws, manager of Ryman League Division One North club Needham Market, is confident of a perfect run of form after the Marketmen ended a winless sequence with a muchneeded victory. Following a 6-1 victory over Ware in the second round of the Ryman League Cup last Tuesday night, Needham matched the scoreline against Ilford on Saturday, as Ollie Fenn’s opener was added to by Duane Wright, and braces from Nathan Clarke and James Evans clinched the rampant visitors their first league win seven matches. Laws’ charges will now look to claim their first league win at home today.

Division one north line-up The majority of the clubs in the Ryman League Division 1 North for the 201213 are the same as those who finished the 2011-12 season. We have lost Leiston and Enfield Town, who have both been promoted to the Premier Division of the Ryman League. At the other end of the table, Great Wakering Rovers have been relegated to the Essex Senior League. Ware, who finished in the second relegation place were given a reprieve by the FA. Coming into the league are Aveley, who were relegated from the Ryman Premier Division, while Witham Town and Wroxham have been promoted from the Essex Senior League and Ridgeons leagues respectively.
ryman LEAGUE 2011-12 AWARDS The Ryman League 2011-12 awards were handed out at the League's annual dinner in June. Fair Play winners in each division were Margate, Waltham Abbey and Dulwich Hamlet, while Respect awards went to Tooting, Leiston and, again, Dulwich. The Macron Team Performance Awards winners were East Thurrock United, who reached the
first round of the FA Cup and also the Alan Boon League Cup final. Redbridge’s remarkable run to the second round of the FA Cup earned them the Ryman North prize while in the South it provided yet another honour for Dulwich, recognising their achievement in preserving a clean sheet in the Respect markings for almost the whole season while mounting a strong promotion challenge.

There will be two new clubs in the Essex Senior League next season. Great Wakering Rovers were relegated from the Ryman League Division 1 North, while in an effort to reverse the stagnation of the ESL, the FA have placed FC Bari, a former Sunday League side straight at Step 5. The Essex Senior League themselves have been quick to stress that they had no input over the allocation of FC Bari, and this has raised questions in many quarters as to how Bari were allowed into the Pyramid at Step 5, while so many other teams have tried and failed. The ESL undoubtedly needs new teams for the league to remain competitive, but the way in which Bari were chosen seems odd to say the least. The club will be groundsharing at Clapton for the forthcoming season. Despite rumours of a potential resignation, Basildon United remain in the league.

D A I LY SAUNDERS WARNS STONES: LEARN FROM MISTAKES Manager Jay Saunders is confident Ryman League Division One South club Maidstone United have the squad to maintain their terrific form – but has warned against getting carried away. United stormed up to second place in Ryman League Division One South with a 3-0 win at Eastbourne Town on Wednesday night. It was their sixth win in seven league games and a result which leaves them just a point behind leaders Crawley Down with a game in hand. But Maidstone imploded last season after an even better run, so Saunders (pictured) is taking nothing for granted. He said: "We all remember what happened last year after a 15-game unbeaten run put us top. "Everyone was saying we were going to win the league, then we lost our next five on the bounce. "I’m hoping we’re better equipped to deal with injuries and suspensions than we were last season, but football can change so quickly. LEATHERHEAD FINISH LOSING RUN IN STYLE "That's been coming," was the message from Richard Brady, manager of Ryman League Division One South club Leatherhead, on Tuesday night. The Tanners, who were second bottom of the Ryman League Division One South, thumped league leaders Crawley Down Gatwick 3-0 at the Haven Centre. In doing so they halted a run of four straight league defeats, five consecutive reverses if you factor in the penalty shootout loss to Carshalton in the League Cup, and also became the first team to stop Down from scoring this season. "We've been there or thereabouts," said Brady (pictured) afterwards. "You try not to bemoan bad decisions or anything that can be seen as negative. We believed and we knew we could turn it round. Everyone knows the squad we've got and it's all well and good having good players, but it's about digging in together, working hard and seeing what happens. "When you're on a bad run all you can do is work hard and see if you get the rewards and as long as you're working hard I'll always stand by them.
"I've told them to enjoy that win but I don't think they will because we know we've let ourselves down as a group." Brady is not counting his chickens just yet though. He added: "It has been important to halt that run but it's only one game, we knew we had a few things going on, were going through a bit of a transition, and we hadn't cracked it when we won a couple at the beginning of the season. "A few things weren't quite falling for us and all of a sudden you're on a bad run and people are jumping on it, it was just important to keep the belief of the players."

Aaron Omand - goalkeeper Young ‘keeper who joined the club in July 2011. Has experience with Chehsunt, Heybridge Swifts and Leyton amongst others. Was first-choice for much of last season, until injury cut his playing-time.
Ben Head - defender Signed in August 2012. Was previously with Billericay Town and featured for them in our first pre-season friendly. Dmitri Larin - defender Signed in August 2012. Most recently, he has been playing for London Tigers. Inaki Ordono - defender Spanish defender, who, since he arrived in the UK has played for both Kingstonian and Epsom & Ewell. Signed for the the club from Epsom & Ewell, in late November 2011. Has impressed in his early appearances for the club. Scored his first goal for the club with a beautiful free-kick against Cheshunt. Was voted Most Improved Player last season. Elton Sackey - defender Returned to Forest in January 2011 after first appearing during the 2007-8 season. Has played for a host of nonleague clubs including Maidenhead United and Lewes. Was an ever-present last season, and was voted as the Supporters' Player of the Season Matt Waldron - defender/Coach Defender now in his third spell as at the club. His first spell was in his 2001-2 season under Colin Richards, but left at the end of the season to join up with past Chairman, Terry Back. When Back became chairman of Forest, it signaled the return of fan’s favorite Waldron, who played almost every game at the back under Danny Honeyball. Unfortunately for Forest, Matt followed Honeyball to Arlesey Town, but is now back for a third time. Was voted Clubman of the year for the 2006-7 season. tom vickers - defender Joined the club just before the start of this season, having previously been at Billericay Town. Originally a midfielder, he was placed at centre-half in his first game for Forest, and has been a main-stay in the squad ever since. Adrian Clifton - midfielder
Joined the club in March 2012, from Romford, where he had progressed from the reserves in to the first team squad. Scored on his debut against Tilbury, from the penalty spot. Has recently been apointed team captain. manu dagher - midfielder Is a Liberian international who came to the club in the summer of 2011 after time spent in the Dutch Second Division last season, with Kazakken Boys. Yet another player who is very difficult to stop, once in full flow. Finished last season as top scorer, and has made a goal-scoring start to this season too. Arian Retkoceri - midfielder Industrious player, signed from Billericay Town. Scored his first goal for the club with a lob against AFC Sudbury. Missed the tail end of last season after breaking his leg, but has made a strong return this season. Luke Stanley - midfielder One of many players making a return for a third spell at Forest. Midfield player with excellent dead ball skills, he first arrived in season 2008/2009, after spells at Barkingsdide and Tilbury. Left at the start of the 2010/2011 season for Aveley, but returned in January 2011, when Wale Ojelabi was re-appointed as manager. Started 2011/12 season back at Aveley, before re-signing for us in December 2011. By the end of last season he had clocked up 96 starts. tunde adewunmi - forward Young forward who signed just after the start of the season. Has been limited to a few substitute appearances so far. jOEL pALMER - forward Forward, now in his fith or sixth spell with the club. Originally joined in 2008, when he made his debut against Enfield Town Forest v Aveley - Page 25
in October. Finished the 2008-9 season as joint top scorer, and has continued his scoring throughout his spells for the club. A real handfull on his day. Chris Taylor - forward Recently returned to the club where he first gained first team expereince during the 2005-6 season. He came through the Barking Abbey youth set-up, and appeared in the FA Youth Cup side, as well as Capital and Suburban League sides. When Hakan Heyrettin moved to Thurrock, the midfielder, who can equally play up front, found first team chances limited, and moved to Tilbury at the start of the 2008-9 season. Now 24, Taylor made a substantial number of appearances for the Dockers, but again found first-team chances hard to come by, so moved to back to Forest.
Impressed in pre-season, and brought his good form into the competitive matches. Scored his first goals for the club with a brace in the 5-2 victory over Hemel Hempstead in the FA Cup.

BEER HUNTER Time to get on our travellin' shoes again, starting with an evening game at Needham Market. This small town has two architectural wonders: the railway station and the parish church, which appears to have had an elongated garden shed plonked on top of it - in fact it's the unprepossessing exterior of a quite astonishing roof. Beerwise, the Rampant Horse (near the station) is a pleasant establishment once you've worked out how to open the entrance gate; the interior is a bit like a 1970s guest house, but the beer is fine and included the rarely-seen Ansells Mild last time the Beer Hunter called in. The Swan opposite (Greene King) is soso, but go up the High Street towards the church and you come to Bug's Bar - the unpromisingly-named but quite excellent front bar of the Limes Hotel, which does very good food as well as good beers. Then we're off to Witham, for the first time since we played our final few home games there a few years ago after we were booted out of Wadham Lodge. The part of town to head for here is Newland Street, which contains the Battesford Court (Wetherspoons), the George, the Red Lion, the Spread Eagle and the Swan. Be warned, however - the football ground is out on the edge of town, so allow Forest v Aveley - Page 26
around 20-30 minutes walking time to get there. On our last visit, the Beer Hunter did notice a nice little pub about halfway to the ground (which was then closed for refurbishment), but it doesn't feature on the current list at www.beerintheevening. com , so maybe it's gone the way of many other small backstreet pubs. Finally, we hit the road again and head for Chatham, where there is only one decent pub worth recommending: the Alexandra, just down the hill from the station, which has Shepherd Neame plus guest ales. There's an even bigger hike to the ground from here, and it's all uphill, so allow about 40 minutes for this one!
