THE SOUNDS OF GLENN MILLER

Featuring hits from Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Tommy Dorsey and Artie Shaw amongst others, the concert would not be complete without reference to the songbooks of Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald. ‘What a night of hot and thundering big band music we enjoyed...the lights went up... Nick Ross appeared...took up the baton and off they all went into a rip roaring arrangement of Cherokee.’ Dr Swing, BBC Radio Northampton

SING-ALONG-A GREASE

The evening begins with your host leading a vocal warm-up before they introduce you to your goody bag. You’ll even get a chance to learn how to hand jive. Then just sit back and watch Danny and Sandy and the gang, while singing and dancing along to the lyrics as shown on the screen.

Based on a true story, it tells of the passionate consumptive Violetta. There are many echoes of Verdi’s own life in La Traviata and he threw himself into the music. The highlights include the Brindisi, the best known drinking song in opera, the duet Un Di Felice and Violetta’s haunting aria Addio Del Passato. This magnificent production boasts sumptuous sets and costumes. Sung in Italian with English surtitles.

COMING SOON Outstanding in his field of killer one-liners, Stewart Francis, the star of Mock The Week, Michael McIntyre’s Roadshow and Live At The Apollo, embarks on a brand-new tour with a fantastic and hilarious new show! ‘A brilliant comic brain...this stand-up cracks some of the best one liners I’ve ever heard’. The Guardian The English Philharmonia and Chorus, under the baton of conductor Graham Wili, present The Armed Man: A Mass For Peace by Karl Jenkins, a profoundly moving yet accessible choral piece. The programme also includes The Lark Ascending (Vaughan Williams) with its soaring violin solo, one of the nation’s classical favourites.

With over 13 million records sold worldwide, Louis Clark’s Hooked On Classics is one of the most successful album series of the last 30 years and now it’s back with a new live production. The legendary Louis Clark will be conducting the English Pops Orchestra and recreating the original Hooked On Classics live in concert.

Welsh wonder Rhod Gilbert is on the road with a brand-new show. A regular on Live At The Apollo and his BBC One show Ask Rhod Gilbert, he’s one of the world’s hottest comedians. His rants on life’s minor irritations are legendary, but he’s a more mellow fellow now, so laid-back he even let someone tattoo a Battenberg on him.
