In Concert

Performed by the Ukrainian National Opera of Kharkiv

THE DRIFTERS One of the biggest-selling groups of all time, The Drifters has featured over 65 different vocalists in almost six decades! The current recording line-up performs new material alongside the group’s greatest hits including Under the Boardwalk, Save The Last Dance, Up On The Roof and many more, from Doo-Wop to Rock ‘n’ Roll, and from Pop to Disco through to the present day. The Drifters will be accompanied on stage by pupils from Bromet Primary School. www.theofficialdrifters.com

MADAMA BUTTERFLY One of the most cherished of all operas, Puccini’s Madama Butterfly is the heartbreaking story of Cio-Cio-San, a beautiful Japanese geisha nicknamed ‘Butterfly’, who makes the fatal mistake of falling in love with a philandering American naval lieutenant, Pinkerton. Cio-Cio-San’s selfless devotion collides with Pinkerton’s faithlessness in a heart-rending romantic tragedy. Musical highlights include The Humming Chorus, an incomparable Love Duet, and one of the greatest arias of all, One Fine Day. This traditional production boasts exquisite sets and costumes to complement the highlycharged emotional music. The opera will be sung in Italian, and surtitled in English.

THU 6 OCTOBER

SIXTIES GOLD Sixties Gold gathers on stage a remarkable line-up of artists who have set the gold standard for British popular music. Gerry & The Pacemakers was the first band to have three consecutive Number Ones in the UK charts. Their hits include You’ll Never Walk Alone and the hugelysuccessful Ferry Cross the Mersey which held the Number One spot in two different decades. The Searchers’ unique and individual sound has sustained their reputation as one of Liverpool’s finest 60s groups with hits such as Sweets For My Sweet and the massive Number One hit Needles and Pins. Completing this stellar line-up are The Fortunes, joined by original lead-singer of The Tremeloes, Chip Hawkes.

OCTOBER In Watford for the very first time, Britain’s favourite diva invites you to join her and a live band for a sensational evening of music, warmth and laughter. Let your ears be thrilled by Jane McDonald’s powerful voice, and your feet tempted to the aisles to enjoy a little dancing. The performance oozes sparkle and shimmer...get the girls together for this one.

Cornwall’s Minister of Culture brings his latest laughter-loaded show to Watford for an evening of slightly naughty entertainment. With his favourite drink to hand, and his uniquely irreverent style of delivery, Jethro regales audiences with his stories and irresistible material from his mischievous repertoire.

Joe Pasquale is back, from outer space, he’s just walked in to find you here with that sad look upon your face! Well there’s no need to look sad anymore. It’s time for the Pull My Finger tour. But it’s not just any finger! Is it a chocolate finger I hear you ask, is it an iced finger? No, it’s the fickle finger of fate, and we dare you to pull it. St George’s School in Harpenden is divided into four houses which compete against each other in a hotly contested House Music Competition. 100 students will compete for the best junior choir; the best senior choir; the best orchestra; the best arranger and the best conductor. It promises to be a lively evening with some outstanding music.
