A special blend of Singapore and Japanese senses ワ

WA-SH IOK、おいしいの最 上 級はこれだ! To celebrate WAttention Singapore’s 5th Anniversary, we are introducing our brand new food guide WAShiok! The title is inspired by the Japanese word washoku (和食, traditional Japanese food) and the local Singapore phrase “Wa, shiok!”. It is an amalgamation of the two, putting together wa (和, Japanese culture) and shiok (a good feeling). It epitomises the satisfied feeling you get after a particularly good Japanese meal. Dedicated to bringing our readers the latest information on some of the most delicious spots in Singapore, we have created a guide to our five favourite Japanese food places in Singapore that make us go “WAshiok!”

Heavenly Frenchinspired treats

The sweetest afternoon tea spot around

Irresistible creamy, puffy goodness

Rive Gauche Patisserie [リヴゴーシュ] — With cakes that are photo-worthy and tasty, it is no wonder that this patisserie is so popular. Their signature cakes include their Guanaja, a rich, bitter-sweet chocolate mousse sponge cake with a crunchy bottom and the creamy, fluffy, sweet-sour Strawberry Shortcake. Also available are sweet macarons and meringues.

St. Marc Cafe [サンマルクカフェ] — Light and fluffy, yet rich and chocolatey – it is this perfect combination of buttery croissant and bittersweet cocoa beans that made St. Marc café popular with sweet-toothed fans. If you are a matcha-lover, try The Gion ($8) – a creamy vanilla soft serve with azuki and matcha pudding and ice cream.

beard papa’s [ ピアードパパ ] — Famous for their light crisp puff shells and rich, milky cream filling, this bakery is a staple in malls worldwide. From their regular vanilla custard to seasonal specials like pineapple, these made-to-order cream puffs are perfect for hitting your sweet spot any time of the day.
