AS WE GROW PRESCHOOL
As We Grow Preschool Our preschool program is intended to help stimulate your child’s social, emotional, and creative development. Our program emphasizes socialization and learning through play. Classroom activities encourage problem solving, creativity, self-expression, as well as academics. This enables children to explore in a room filled with warmth, affection, and respect for others. It is the preschool environment where children learn to respect the authority of adults other than their parents. Friendship, sharing, and cooperation are modeled and practiced on a daily basis. The children participate in all type of learning including art, music, creative play, cooking, poetry, and science. Through carpet time, direct instruction, hands-on learning and free-time activities, the children are exposed to a curriculum that enhances their creativity and also provides a positive atmosphere for learning. Our 2-year old program is designed to give your child an early introduction to our traditional preschool program. Classes will last one and a half hours per day with age appropriate activities planned each session. Eligibility Children must be the proper age as of September 1st (November 1st for 5-year) and must be toilet trained if enrolled in the 3, 4, or 5 year-old program. All participant information forms will be mailed out in early August and must be turned in to the Community Center front desk by Friday, September 5th. Medical forms will be due no later than October 15th. School Calendar and Payment Schedule Our preschool runs from Mid-September to May. A detailed calendar will be given out during the first week of school. All payments are monthly and are based on a yearly fee broken into nine equal payments. All payments are due by the 1st of each month. Enrollment in the automatic payment program can be completed with the form found in our information packet. If payments are received late, you will be assessed a late fee of $15. Open House Our yearly open house is scheduled for Tuesday, February 25th and Wednesday, February 26th from 6:30-8:00 pm. The open house will give you a chance to meet the teachers, see the facility, and allow the students to show off some of the projects that they have been working on during this school year. 2014/2015 Registration Dates: Monday, February 17th - Current Participant Resident and Siblings Monday, March 3rd - Resident Monday, March 10th - Current Participant Non-resident and Siblings Monday, March 17th - Open Registration

It’s never too early to start thinking about summer fun! We already have a fun-filled summer planned for your children. Camp Wauconda offers a full-time and part-time format with age-appropriate activities like arts and crafts, swimming, games, parties, field trips once a week, theme days, entertainers, and much more! Camp Wauconda is for children entering grades 1-8 in Fall 2014.
Camp Format
Camp Wauconda is an active day camp that is planned by our Camp Coordinator, Camp Counselors, Recreation Staff, and Campers themselves. Our staff to camper ratio is 1:10 for 1st-4th grade and 1:15 for 5th-8th grade. Kids are grouped by grade so they are interacting with kids their own age most of the time. There are also two trips scheduled per session and one special event, which are tied into the theme.

This decision will affect not only the rest of their academic career, but their lifetime learning as well. The Young Rembrandts elementary program provides the tools this age-group needs to succeed at drawing - a teaching tool from which the majority of learners prefer and ALL learners benefit! Our program works because it’s not only handson and visual...it’s simply fun. Add to this our innovative guided instruction, topics that kids love and relate to, and instructors that know how to reach this group; we take kids from thinking they’re not ‘artists’ to knowing they can achieve this, and everything else, they put their minds to. NISRA serves residents of McHenry County, and parts of Cook, Kane, and Lake counties. Programs are provided in community facilities throughout the area. NISRA staff assist our staff with including residents with disabilities in our recreation programs.
Call (815) 459-0737 with questions about inclusion, or contact the Wauconda Park District to register for a program. NISRA’s full-time professional recreation staff hold college degrees in Therapeutic Recreation or related fields, along with various certifications. Part-time staff and volunteers help people with disabilities learn new skills and have fun. Do you have a talent to share and some time to give? Contact NISRA to learn more about part-time work or volunteering. Ask for the NISRA brochure at our office, call (815) 459-0737, or visit NISRA’s website at www.nisra.org for more information.
