Registration will open March 1 for all activities. Payment is required at the time of registration. Please choose one of the options below to register today. • Online Visit www.waukee.org/registration to pay with a credit or debit card. Credit and debit card payments are only accepted Online. FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

When do I register? Most classes fill up fast, so don’t wait too long. For most programs, registration will stay open until one week prior to the start date, unless the program is already full. What is your cancellation policy? Programs, activities, special events, and festivals that are canceled, postponed, or changed in location will be announced as soon as possible. Please check our Facebook, Twitter and website at www.waukee.org/parksandrec for updates. What is your photo policy? Photos taken of participants and guests in programs, activities, special events and festivals may be used in promotional materials, press releases, and on the City of Waukee’s website and social media. Do you send program reminders? Please mark your calendar after signing up for a program. The City of Waukee Parks and Recreation Department does not send program confirmations or reminders. What is your refund policy? Refund requests must be made prior to the first day of the start of the program. A $5 nonrefundable handling fee will be deducted from the refund when an enrollee withdraws prior to the first day of class. Once the first day of class begins, refunds are not issued unless the class or program is canceled by the City of Waukee Parks and Recreation Department. Refunds will be issued by check if original payment was made by check or cash. If payment was made Online with a credit card, then credit will be put back on to the card. Please allow two to four weeks for refunds to be processed.

**NEW** Easter Coloring Contest

Help the Waukee Parks and Recreation Department spread some Easter cheer around Waukee’s Downtown businesses by participating in our Easter Coloring Contest! To participate in our coloring contest, please contact Alicia at arichter@waukee.org. The contest will start March 1 and the last day to turn in finished coloring pages is March 23. Please have your child color the page and return it to the Waukee Public Works Building. Coloring pages will be hung in the Downtown Businesses’ windows (detailed in the graph below.) We will vote for a winner and announce it on April 4 at the Easter Egg Hunt. The winner will receive an egg’cellent Easter basket filled with goodies.

**NEW** Live Healthy Iowa 5K

Join us as we partner with Live Healthy Iowa for a 5K run/walk and a 1K kid’s run on Saturday, April 11, starting and ending in Centennial Park. The 5K will serve as an end to Live Healthy Iowa’s 10-Week Wellness Challenge. Adult challenge participants will receive a $10 discount on registration. Proceeds from the runs will benefit our local community by improving our wellness environment, as well as Adaptive Sports. Easter Egg Hunt

Hop on over and fill your baskets full of candy at Waukee’s annual Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Waukee Parks and Recreation Department! There will be three age groups; 4 years and under, 5-7, and 8-10. Location Centennial Park Time 10 a.m. (rain or shine) Date Saturday, April 4 Fee Free!

Join us for our third year of big screen movies under the Big Dipper! Movies in the Park provides an abundance of family fun. This free event is a great way to make memories with your family and neighbors while enjoying Hollywood’s biggest hits under the stars. Don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs and blankets. Special Events and Festivals **NEW** Celebrate Waukee: Unlock Yours

Celebrate Waukee is Waukee’s new annual festival. This family-friendly inaugural event will kick off with a Friday night Movie in the Park brought to you by the Waukee Parks and Recreation Department. Saturday morning the festivities will begin in the historic Waukee Triangle with a pancake breakfast and a 6K run. Around midday, a parade will take the fun to Centennial Park where attendees will find a wide range of activities for all ages, including inflatables, food, drinks, live music, fireworks, and much more. 4th of July Celebration

Waukee will host an all-day celebration for our Nation’s independence this year! Activities start at 2:00 p.m. with the annual parade through downtown ending at Centennial Park, where the fun continues for the rest of the day and night. Come try out inflatable activities and the Game on Game Trailer. There will be plenty of food vendors to choose from to keep attendees full. The band “Toaster” will start playing at 6:00 p.m. followed by an amazing display of fireworks after dusk. Visit www.waukee.org/fourthofjuly for the parade route. BACooN Sizzles Waukee

The City of Waukee will once again play a special part in BACooN Ride with Centennial Park as home base for the A U KEE 2015 ride. An exciting party the night before the event will kick off the weekend full of bacon and bikes. All bacon lovers are invited and those who attend the party on Friday night will enjoy two great live bands—Members Only and the New Mexicos—along with mouth-watering bacon delicacies from a host of vendors, and a beer garden with a variety of local and national brews. Youth Soccer Clinic

Mini Sluggers T-ball is open to boys and girls ages 4 and 5. The program will run for five weeks with a Tuesday Night League starting June 9 and a Thursday Night League starting June 11. Mini Sluggers gives kids the opportunity to participate in a summer t-ball league while teaching them the basic fundamentals of the game through practices and games. Participants will be split up on teams and scheduled into a fivegame season. Children must be 4 years old by July 1, 2015. Each participant will receive a t-shirt. Volunteer coaches are needed! Not quite sure if your child is ready for t-ball? This is a chance for your child to learn the game of baseball and softball with the comfort of you as their partner. Each participant will perform drills with a parent and parents will participate in most activities.

Waukee Parks and Recreation offers a fall recreational girls softball league and girls in 2nd through 8th grades for the 2015-2016 school year are eligible to play. The league will be a shortened six-game season that runs September 14 – October 1 (games played on Monday and Thursday nights). Practices will begin after Labor Day. Teams will be formed at random. Space is limited. Registration opens on June 1. Volunteer coaches are needed! Registration Deadline August 10, 2015 Intermediates: 2nd, 3rd grades Fee: $48 Minors: 4th, 5th grades Fee: $48 Majors: 6th-8th grades Fee: $48 Join us for this three-session fundamental clinic for 4- and 5-year-olds. Children will learn the fundamentals of soccer including: basic rules, dribbling, passing and throw-ins. Participants will also learn how to play a game of soccer. Shin guards and cleats can be worn, but are not necessary for this clinic. Parents are encouraged to stay and watch! Participants will receive a t-shirt. This is a great introduction to our Little Kickers Soccer Program. Youth Sports Little Kickers Soccer

This is an introductory soccer league for 4- and 5-year-old children (must be 4 years old by 10/11/15). The program is designed to teach children the basics of the game of soccer while having fun. Game play will be four-versus-four, with four quarters of eight minutes continuous clock with no goalie. Teams will consist of seven to eight players with plenty of playing time for each child. Tennis Camp

This four-day camp is designed for kids interested in learning the game of tennis. Participants will learn the basic information and skills needed to play. The camp is open to children entering 4th-8th grades. Each camp participant will need to bring their own tennis racket and water bottle. Reserve Ball Field Practice Times

Teams who would like to reserve a ball field for practice will utilize a call-in system starting in mid-March. The call-in dates and times are detailed in the graph below. Teams are allowed one hour of practice time per week (M-F). Weekends are available on a first come, first served basis, outside of Parks and Recreation Leagues. Teams may reserve Centennial Park fields #1-3 and Warrior Park fields #4-7. Reservations are only accepted by PHONE at 515-978-0007. Teams must complete a Ball Field Reservation Form at www.waukee.org/parksandrec and return it to the Parks and Recreation office at 805 University Avenue prior to calling in to reserve a ball field.

**NEW** Kansas City Royals Baseball Trip

Come with us on a trip to Kansas City on July 26 to watch the 2014 American League Champion Kansas City Royals, take on the Houston Astros. The game will be held at Kauffman Stadium and game time is 1:10 p.m. There will be one stop for restrooms and food each way and travelers are welcome to bring food and beverages on the bus. Youth Camps and Activities Rockets Away

Blast off towards an action-packed adventure in math, engineering, aerospace, and physics with this study of rocketry science. Activities in motion, gravity and aerodynamics send interest soaring and lead up to the ultimate thrill—building and launching a two-liter pop bottle rocket. Cooking up Science: Cookie Factory

Enter the Cookie Factory and become a scientist by putting different cookies to the test using various ingredients and baking methods. Students will see how every ingredient, temperature and even the type of baking sheet in the recipe serves a purpose. They will learn how changing just one of these factors changes the outcome of their baked goods. Kid Fit Camp

Bring your child to meet new friends and polish their large and gross motor skills. Each class will consist of games, songs, music and movement. The kids will leave happily worn out. Kids Cook!

Milk and cookies may be a classic, but there are plenty of other easy-to-make snack options full of flavor and nutrition. Enjoy these two hands-on cooking classes taught by Waukee Hy-Vee Dietitian, Erin Good, and learn to prepare delicious snacks with a healthy twist. During “Red, White, and Blue Breakfast Foods” chefs will prepare delicious breakfast foods the entire family will enjoy on the 4th of July. “Veggiecation” is designed to take the taste buds on a vacation around the world with Italian, Asian and Mexican cuisines. At Bricks 4 Kidz® Saturday Workshop, students will complete a combination of formal model building with B4K’s signature kits and model plans, as well as creative building with 1000+ LEGO® Bricks. Put on your Picasso painting hat—it’s time to get artistic! Artists will be able to create a variety of age appropriate masterpieces to take home and share with their families, including a personalized canvas. Each day we will begin and finish a new project. This half-day camp is perfect for any sports enthusiast. Cheerleading Camp

The Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with the Waukee High School Cheerleading Squad to offer a four-day Cheerleading Camp. This camp will provide girls and boys an opportunity to learn cheerleading techniques and new cheers. Parents are encouraged to watch on the last day when their cheerleaders perform a short routine. Cheerleaders will receive a t-shirt and poms. Please remember to bring a water bottle. Join us for an action-packed week of summer fun. Participants will enjoy three days of field trips to an aquatic center, an indoor activity center and much more! The other two days will be spent playing games and activities in the park for a total of five days of camp with lots of activities to enjoy. Parks and Recreation staff will supervise and transport camp participants to and from each destination. Campers will be notified prior to the start of camp of Monday’s activity and will get to collectively vote on the remaining camp schedule. Super Snackers

This class will teach kids new, fun and healthy after-school snack ideas they can make any time of the year. At the end of each class, each chef will be able to sample their snacks! Explore the Outdoors and More

Get away from the electronics and back into nature! This camp will include nature play in different parks and creek beds, activities that help children relate with natural elements, and a field trip to the Kuehn Conservation Center. Join us for an exciting week of nature, fun and learning. Campers will be notified prior to the start of camp of daily activities so they can dress appropriately. This week-long service learning camp gives participants a chance to learn about community betterment by volunteering at various locations in Waukee and surrounding areas. The camp consists of morning volunteer activities, while the afternoons are filled with fun field trips. Campers will need to bring a sack lunch each day for this all-day camp, and will be notified prior to the start of camp of daily activities so they can dress appropriately. Participants will be transported by the Parks and Recreation staff during camp. Romp, stomp and play! We provide the fun, parents provide the supervision at this open gym for toddlers. We have the setup to meet children’s activity and social needs this spring, and with toddler toys ranging from blocks to tunnels and mats, there is no shortage of action. Kids love to play and parents get to socialize with one another in this non-structured activity. Kids are free to play with adult supervision. Tumbling Tots

Parent/Child Tumbling This 30-minute, developmental play-program is a very basic beginning program for little ones, designed to get them exploring large motor movements in a group environment emphasizing balance and coordination through basic tumbling moves, exercises and songs. Children will also practice listening and turn-taking. A parent or guardian must accompany their child during each session. The child must be of the required age prior to the start of the session. Tumbling Tots 2

This 30-minute program is designed for little gymnasts to learn and increase their basic tumbling motions. They will improve upon their tumbling skills and movements, coordination, strength, and balance by learning somersaults, front flips, back flips and more. The child must be of the required age prior to the start of the session. Coed Softball Leagues—Tuesday Nights

Adult Coed Softball Leagues will be offered at the Centennial Park fields. League action will take place on Tuesday nights with games at 6:15 p.m., 7:15 p.m., 8:15 p.m., and 9:15 p.m. The first season will start June 9 and the second season will start August 4. There will be two separate leagues: B-League (competitive) and C-League (recreational).

Men’s Softball Leagues—Wednesday Nights

Adult Men’s Softball Leagues fill up fast; sign your team up today! The Wednesday night league is played on field #1 at Centennial Park and space is limited to eight teams. The Spring Season will begin on April 15. The Summer Season will begin on June 3 and should be completed by August 26, with a 10game schedule and single elimination season ending tournament included.

Bags League—Wednesday Nights

Bags League is played on Wednesday evenings at Centennial Park. The league has space for 16 two-person teams. Registrants must sign up as a team, individuals will not be taken. Bags League will start June 10 and should be completed by August 12. Teams may be split into Competitive and Recreational Divisions.

Coed Sand Volleyball Leagues

League play takes place at the sand volleyball courts in Centennial Park on Thursday nights starting at 6:00 p.m. or Sunday nights at 5:00 p.m. This is a “call your own” league, so no referee will be provided. Thursday and Sunday Leagues will run separately and both will have B and C divisions. Sugar Creek Golf Course Golf Leagues Women’s League—Thursday Nights

All Junior Golf programs are coordinated and supervised by PGA Golf Professionals with the assistance of local collegiate scholarship golfers.

Pee Wee Golf Lessons

Children who get a good start in golf, will enjoy the game for a lifetime. Instruction includes an introduction to the full swing, putting, chipping, and rules and etiquette. There is a 5:1 student-to-teacher ratio and juniors may attend more than one session. Missed lessons will not be made up unless weather related. Intermediate Junior Golf Camps

The Intermediate Junior Golf Program is geared towards students who have some golf experience or have attended our camps before. The 12 hours of instruction covers golf rules, etiquette and course management, along with six basic golf skills—putting, chipping, pitching, fairway irons, woods and sand play. Experienced PGA Instructors will coordinate the lessons to include fun contests and golf skills competitions. The week concludes with our popular Iowa PGA Skills competition. In addition, all participants will receive a junior golf tee gift. There is a 6:1 student-to-teacher ratio and refreshments are served each day. Junior Camper Discounted Play Program

At the completion of the Intermediate Junior Golf camps, all participants will be qualified to play golf for the discounted rate of $5.00 per nine-hole round. Ages 11 and under will need adult supervision for the Discounted Play Program. Ages 12 and up may play without adult supervision. The discounted rate is in effect for the remainder of the 2015 golf season, provided the junior golfer secures a tee time during the following times: Monday-Friday *Before Noon Saturday-Sunday *After 6:00 p.m. *Tee times are subject to course availability.

When you host a corporate golf outing at Sugar Creek Municipal Golf Course, you have the ability to customize your outing to fit your organization’s needs. Inside the 2,800 square-foot building is a refrigerator, sink, microwave, oven and warming drawer. The building has 12 round tables and 90 chairs, making it an ideal location for family reunions, small wedding receptions and business meetings. Inside the 660 square-foot pavilion is a refrigerator, sink, and microwave along with restrooms that are shared with park users. The pavilion has six round tables and two rectangle tables, seating for 48 with additional seating on the patio, two charcoal grills, and is heated, making it available during the winter as well. The pavilion is ideal for graduation parties or small celebrations. Rental fee: $65 fee/$150 deposit Centennial Park Enclosed Shelter..............1255 S. Warrior Lane The enclosed shelter is located on the southwest corner of Centennial Park with a playground and restrooms nearby. The shelter has a small deck overlooking the park and a charcoal grilling area. Inside the shelter are 12 picnic tables. The shelter does not have heating or air-conditioning and is available to rent April 1–October 11. Rental fee: $40 fee/no deposit Centennial Park Open-Air Shelter..............1255 S. Warrior Lane The open-air shelter is in the heart of Centennial Park and is surrounded by an open grass area, a disc golf course, ball fields, playgrounds and restrooms. City of Waukee Facility Rental Policies

Waukee Community Center Reservations can be made one year in advance of the reservation date. Reservations are confirmed when completed form and deposit are returned to the Parks and Recreation Department. Payment for the center needs to be received at least one week prior to the reserved date. A Parks and Recreation staff member will unlock the center at your reserved time. Ridge Pointe Pavilion, Centennial Enclosed and Open Shelters and Windfield Shelter Weekend shelter rentals can be reserved six months in advance of the reservation date. Weekday shelter rentals can also be reserved in advance; however, weekday reservations are not accepted until after March 1 for the months of March– July and after August 1 for the months of August–February. Reservations are confirmed when completed form, payment and deposit are returned to the Parks and Recreation Department. Keys, if applicable, can be picked up the week of the reservation. This three-acre habitat is certified because of the conscientious planning, landscaping and sustainable gardening where wildlife may find quality habitat, food, water, shelter and places to raise their young.

For lunch, we will eat at Spaghetti Works on Court Avenue. Following lunch, we will head over to the State Capitol and take in the beautiful architecture and learn about the history behind it.
