Registration Registration Information Registration will open March 1 for all activities. Payment is required at the time of registration. The most popular registration method is online via www.Waukee.org/Registration. However, a printable registration form can be found at www.Waukee.org/PrintForm. It can be mailed with payment or dropped off to Waukee Parks & Recreation at: 805 University Avenue, Waukee, IA 50263. Printed forms are also available in person at the Parks & Recreation Office.

FAQs – Frequently Asked Questions What is your cancellation policy? Programs, activities, special events and festivals that are canceled, postponed or changed in location will be announced as soon as possible. Please check Facebook, Twitter or www.Waukee.org for updates. We reserve the right to cancel a program or an activity that does not meet the minimum number of participants necessary to offer the program.

What is your program refund policy? Refund requests must be made ONE WEEK prior to the first day of the program or prior to rosters being made for leagues. A $5 nonrefundable handling fee will be deducted from the refund when an enrollee withdraws ONE WEEK prior to the first day of the program. Once the ONE WEEK deadline passes or rosters are formed, refunds will not be issued. For trip refund information, please refer to page 33.

What is your facility rental refund policy? Facility rental refunds may be issued for reservations only when cancellations are made 10 business days prior to the date of reservation. There will be a $5 cancellation fee for any shelter or pavilion refund. Community Center cancellations later than 10 business days prior will result in forfeiture of both deposit and rental payments.

What is your photo/video policy? Photos/videos taken of participants and guests in programs, activities, special events and festivals may be used in promotional materials, press releases, and on the City of Waukee’s website and social media channels. 4

Live Healthy Iowa 5K Run/Walk Join the Live Healthy Iowa 5K Run/Walk and 1K Fun Run on Saturday, April 8 starting and ending in Centennial Park. The 5K will serve as an end to Live Healthy Iowa’s 10 Week Wellness Challenge. Adult challenge participants will receive a $10 discount on registration. To register, visit www.LiveHealthyIowa.org. Easter Coloring Contest Help the Waukee Parks & Recreation Department spread some Easter cheer in Waukee’s Downtown Triangle Businesses by participating in the annual Easter Coloring Contest! To participate, please print a coloring sheet and entry form from www.Waukee.org/ EasterColoringContest or pick them up at the Parks & Recreation office. The contest will start March 1, and the last day to submit finished entries is April 3. Winners will be announced at the Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 15. Kids Day at the Dallas County Fair Join the Waukee and Dallas County Parks & Recreation Departments for a kids day in conjunction with 4-H Clover Kids and the Dallas County Fair. BALL FIELD RENTALS & RESERVATIONS Ball Field Rental Ball fields in Centennial and Warrior Parks are available for paid rental beginning June 19. Please contact Parks & Recreation Supervisor Josh VandeKamp at jvandekamp@Waukee.org for more information about fees and dates.

Ball Field Practice Time-NEW ONLINE RESERVATIONS!! Teams looking to reserve a ball field for practice prior to June 19 can utilize a new online reservation system. The online reservation dates and reservation weeks are shown in the table below. Teams are allowed one free hour of practice time per week (M-F). Free weekend time slots will be open as well for one additional hour. Available fields include: Centennial Park Fields 1-3 and Warrior Park Fields 4-7. Reservations will only be accepted online at www.Waukee.org/FieldReservations, starting at 12 p.m. on the online reservation date listed. Field users must complete a team form once prior to making reservations. YOUTH SPORTS Youth Soccer Clinic Join us for this three-session fundamental clinic for kids ages 4-5. Children will learn the fundamentals of soccer including basic rules, dribbling, passing and throw-ins. Shin guards and cleats can be worn, but are not necessary for this clinic. Parents are encouraged to stay and watch! This is a great introduction to the Little Kickers Soccer Program. Dates

Mini Sluggers T-Ball This program will run five weeks with separate leagues on Tuesday & Thursday evenings. Mini Sluggers gives kids the opportunity to participate in a summer T-Ball league while teaching them the basic fundamentals of the game through practice and games. Foam bats and balls must be used in this league and will be provided for each team. Teams will be formed at random. Children must be 4 years old by July 11, 2017. Volunteer coaches are needed! Dates

YOUTH SPORTS Parent and Child Blastball Not quite sure if your child is ready for T-Ball? This is a chance for your child to learn about baseball and softball with the comfort of you as their partner. Each participant will participate in drills with a parent, and parents will participate in most activities. Dates & Times

*UPCOMING REGISTRATIONS* 2017 Fall Girls Recreational Softball League Waukee Parks & Recreation offers a fall recreational girls softball league, and girls in 2nd through 6th grades for the 2017-2018 school year are eligible to play. The league will be a shortened six-game season that runs September 11-October 2 (games played on Monday and Thursday nights). Practices will begin at the end of August. ADULT SPORTS & FITNESS Coed Softball Leagues Adult Coed Softball Leagues will be offered at the Centennial Park fields. League action will take place on Tuesday nights only for B-League and Tuesday/Wednesday nights for C-League if enough teams are playing. Games begin at 6:15, 7:15, 8:15 and 9:15 p.m. There will be two separate leagues: B-League (competitive) and C-League (recreational). League

Men’s Softball Leagues Adult Men’s Softball Leagues fill up fast, so sign your team up today! The Wednesday night league is played on Field #1 at Centennial Park, and space is limited to eight teams. The Spring Season will begin on April 13 with a seven-game schedule. The Summer Season is scheduled to begin on June 1 and should be completed by August 24, with a 10-game schedule and a single elimination season-ending tournament included. Season

ADULT SPORTS & FITNESS Results Boot Camp Achieve your fitness goals by joining Results Boot Camp! Results Boot Camp focuses on working participants at their respective levels while making sure they get results. Participants will perform circuit training, high intensity interval training and endurance training. Attendees will be given workouts for off-days, along with nutrition coaching. Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention Tai Chi has been shown to help prevent falls and to improve health and quality of life. Tai Chi can help reduce pain and stiffness through a series of gentle, pain-free movements. It will help improve balance, strength, flexibility and stamina. Most importantly, Tai Chi can help improve quality of life both physically and mentally. This class can be done while sitting in a chair. The instructor is a certified Tai Chi for Health instructor. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

YOUTH CAMPS & ACTIVITIES Storywalk Take an adventure with a story this spring and summer! The Waukee Public Library and the Parks & Recreation Department have joined together to promote literature and exercise. Enjoy a different book each month displayed along the Heart of the Warrior Trail between 6th Street and the intersection of Ashworth Drive, Northview Drive and Warrior Lane.

Tot Lot Romp, stomp and play! We have the set-up to meet your children’s activity and social needs this spring. With toddler toys ranging from blocks to tunnels and mats, there’s no shortage of action here. We provide the fun. Parents provide the supervision in this open gym for toddlers where kids play and parents socialize with one another. This is a non-structured activity. Tot Lot will be cancelled when Waukee Schools are delayed and/or if there is inclement weather. It will be open the week of Spring Break. Dates

It emphasizes balance and coordination through basic tumbling moves, exercises and songs. Children will also practice listening and taking turns. Youth in the Parks This week-long service learning camp gives participants a chance to learn about community betterment by volunteering at various locations in Waukee and surrounding areas. The camp consists of morning volunteer activities, while the afternoons are filled with fun field trips. Campers will need to bring a sack lunch each day for this all-day camp, and will be notified prior to the start of camp of daily activities so they can dress appropriately. Participants will be transported by the Parks & Recreation staff during camp. Dates

Red Cross Babysitting Training Attend the American Red Cross Babysitting Certification class and gain life experience by practicing lifesaving babysitting skills on manikins and with other participants. This is a great class for girls and boys getting ready to start babysitting on their own or for those who will be in charge of younger siblings for short periods of time. Participants must be 11 years old and need to bring a sack lunch. Each participant will receive a Babysitter’s Training Handbook and a starter kit. Dates

YOUTH CAMPS & ACTIVITIES Engineering for Kids Junior Robotics (Grades K-1) The goal of this class is to introduce students to the concept of what robotics is as well as give the students a chance to build and program their first robot. This class is a perfect mixture of fun and learning using LEGO robots at the introductory level. They also learn how to program and operate their creations using a laptop computer.

Apprentice Robotics 101 (Grades 2-5) The Robotics 101 program is designed to introduce students to both robot building as well as programming. The students will build robots to accomplish a specific task while using their imagination to make their robot better than the basic robot. During the class, students will discover the Engineering Design Process in a real world setting as they test their robots multiple times. All sessions will take place at the Ridge Pointe Pavilion. Racing Challenge with Radio Controlled Cars Performing as engineers, participants will work together to design a logo and modify a racecar for superior performance. Experienced therapists strive to engage individuals in the group and with each other in order to provide rich social experiences not available in other settings. Participants will be an important part of the music-making by way of instrument play, movement and/or singing/vocalizing in each group as the therapist facilitates high-quality live music experiences. Located in Urbandale and offering year-round programming Monday through Saturday, Courage League Sports provides opportunities for every age group.

Villages of Van Buren County Journey to the southeastern part of Iowa to explore the Villages of Van Buren County. On the way, visit the famous Jaarsma Bakery in Pella, then continue on to view quality Amish craftsmanship during a visit to Yoder’s Indian Creek Furniture. Dine on a homemade lunch made by local Amish community members, and then enjoy a scenic ride through Lacey-Keosauqua State Park. The rolling hillsides of the 1,653acre park are home to wildlife, wild flowers, Red Bud trees and other natural beauty. Other stops include the Bentonsport Indian Artifact Museum and the Dutchman’s Store, which is also known as “A Quilter’s Paradise”. Participants will get to spend some free time in the Bentonsport National Historic District and the Milton Creamery as well. Come along on this one-day, all-inclusive journey! SUGAR CREEK MUNICIPAL GOLF COURSE Junior Golf Programs Registration information on page 4. All Junior Golf programs are coordinated and supervised by golf professionals with the assistance of local collegiate and/or high school golfers.

Pee Wee Golf Lessons Children who get a good start in golf will enjoy the game for a lifetime. Instruction includes an introduction to the full swing, putting, chipping, and rules and etiquette. There is a 5:1 student-to-teacher ratio, and juniors may attend more than one session. Missed lessons will not be made up unless weather-related. Affordable junior golf sets are available for purchase through the Sugar Creek Golf Shop. Please call 515-987-5247 and ask for the Clubhouse Manager to order prior to the class. Intermediate Junior Golf Camps The Intermediate Junior Golf Program is geared towards students who have some golf experience or have attended our camps before. The 12 hours of instruction covers golf rules, etiquette and course management, along with six basic golf skills—putting, chipping, pitching, fairway irons, woods and sand play. Instructors will coordinate the lessons to include fun contests and golf skills competitions. The week concludes with our popular Iowa PGA Skills competition. There is a 6:1 student-to-teacher ratio, and refreshments are served each day. Dates

Camper Discounted Play Program! At the completion of the Intermediate Junior Golf camps, all participants will be qualified to play golf for the discounted rate of $5 per 9-hole round. Ages 11 and under will need adult supervision for the Discounted Play Program. Ages 12 and up may play without adult supervision. The discounted rate is in effect for the remainder of the 2017 golf season, provided the junior golfers secure a tee time. 38

Waukee Community Center Reservations can be made up to one year in advance of the reservation date. Reservations are confirmed when completed form and deposit are returned to the Parks & Recreation Department. Payment for the center needs to be received at least one week prior to the reserved date.

Ridge Pointe Pavilion, Centennial Enclosed and Open Shelters, and Windfield Shelter These facilities are rented April 1 through mid-October with the exception of Ridge Pointe Pavilion which is rented year-round. Reservations can be made 180 days in advance of the desired reservation date. Reservations are confirmed when payment and deposit are received by the Parks & Recreation Department. Keys, if needed, can be picked up the week of the reservation.

FACILITY RENTALS Waukee Community Center 675 Walnut Street

Waukee’s Community Center, formerly the Waukee Fire Station, is available for rent. Inside the 2,800 square-foot building is a refrigerator, sink, microwave, oven, warming drawer and coffee maker. The building has 12 round tables, three rectangle tables and 90 chairs, making it an ideal location for family reunions, small wedding receptions and business meetings. Rental Fees: Length of Time

FACILITY RENTALS Ridge Pointe Pavilion

655 SE Legacy Pointe Boulevard The Ridge Pointe Pavilion sits on a 21-acre park and has a covered concrete patio overlooking the park. Inside the 660 square-foot pavilion is a refrigerator, sink and microwave along with restrooms that are shared with park users. The Pavilion has six round tables and two rectangular tables. Those tables will seat 48, and there is additional seating on the patio. The Pavilion features two charcoal grills. Winter reservations are welcome as the Pavilion is heated for winter months. The Pavilion is ideal for graduation parties or small celebrations. This is an all-day rental from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Rental fee: $65 fee/$150 deposit

Centennial Park Enclosed Shelter 1255 Warrior Lane

The enclosed shelter is located on the southwest corner of Centennial Park with a playground and restrooms nearby. The shelter has a small deck overlooking the park and a charcoal grilling area. Inside the shelter are 12 picnic tables. The shelter does not have heating or air-conditioning and is only available to rent April 1 through mid-October. This is an all-day rental from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Rental fee: $40 fee/no deposit

Centennial Park Open Air Shelter 1255 Warrior Lane

The open air shelter is in the heart of Centennial Park and is surrounded by an open grass area, a disc golf course, ball fields, playgrounds and restrooms. The shelter has 11 picnic tables and two charcoal grills. This shelter is available to rent April 1-October 31. This is an all-day rental from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Rental fee: $25 fee/no deposit

Windfield Park Open Air Shelter 114 Windfield Parkway

The Windfield Open Air Shelter is located in the newly renovated Windfield Park. The park features age appropriate play areas, a full basketball court and a backstop for baseball and softball. The shelter houses four picnic tables, a bike rack, 13 parking spots and a unisex enclosed restroom. This shelter is available to rent April 1-October 31. This is an all-day rental from 8 a.m.-10 p.m. Maximum capacity for this shelter is 25 people. Rental fee: $25 fee/no deposit

PARKS Centennial Park 1255 Warrior Lane

Centennial Park offers a wide range of recreational opportunities. The 33-acre park is equipped with two sand volleyball courts, three ball diamonds, a 12-hole disc golf course, three playgrounds, one basketball court, a newly re-shaped Sugar Creek, a covered bridge, one open shelter and one enclosed shelter. There is plenty of open green space for playing soccer or enjoying a picnic with your family. Centennial Park has it all!

G.E. Davis Park

Walnut and 7th Street G.E. Davis Park sits in front of the Waukee Community Center and honors George Edward Davis. Davis served as the mayor of the City of Waukee for 30 years. Most recently a bench and a flowerbed have been added by a local Eagle Scout and a “Little Free Library” was added by the Waukee United Methodist Congregation.

Windfield Park

114 Windfield Parkway Windfield Park was renovated in 2015 and features many new and exciting amenities. The park is equipped with a full basketball court, a new backstop for baseball or softball, age-appropriate play areas including an accessible swing, a “Little Free Library” and an open shelter. Walking and biking paths make it easier to connect from the park to the Heart of the Warrior Trail.

PARKS Southfork Park

Southbranch Drive Southfork Park is a three-acre neighborhood park with amenities including a playground, the Gordon Christianson open shelter, picnic tables, a grill and benches. In 2015 a “Little Free Library” was installed for neighbors to share and borrow their favorite books.

Songbird Park

Behind 1070 1st Pl., East of Southview Drive Songbird Park has been certified as a “Backyard Wildlife Habitat” by The National Wildlife Federation. This three-acre habitat is certified because of the conscientious planning, landscaping and sustainable gardening where wildlife may find quality habitat, food, water, shelter and places to raise their young.

Ridge Pointe Park

Triangle Park is a half-acre park nestled in the heart of the Historic Downtown Triangle District, featuring a large gazebo and many nearby businesses. It serves as host to many community events throughout the year.

Warrior Park 1050 4th Street

Warrior Park is a seven-acre park with four ball diamonds, one playground, a “Little Free Library” and a specially engineered sledding hill.

Fox Creek Park

522 NE Westgate Drive Fox Creek Park is Waukee’s newest and third largest park. Phase 1 of construction was completed in the fall of 2016. Within the park, there are two acres of prairie plantings to help the Monarch butterfly population increase and trails totaling 3/4 of a mile in length. The trails connect Grant Ragan Elementary to the surrounding neighborhoods. Future phases for the park feature the additions of a splash pad, shelter, parking spaces, a basketball court and more.

Grant Park

605 SE Driftwood Lane Grant Park is a one-and-a-half-acre neighborhood park that was remodeled during the summer of 2015. The remodeled park includes walking paths, new playground equipment and a halfcourt basketball area.
