If you claim Universial Credit you could be entitled to cheaper internet from BT. The BT Home Essentials package is available from just £15 per month offering fast and reliable internet and phone packages without a long contract.


water.

The Here2Help Scheme can offer a reduction of water bills to any Hafren Dyfrdwy customer with a household income below £16,385. You don't need to be behind on your bills or on benefits to apply and eligibility is based on an assessment of your income.


utility.

You could get £140 off your electricity bill for winter 2022 to 2023 under the Warm Home Discount Scheme. The money is not paid to you it’s a one-off discount on your electricity bill, between October and March. Applications open in the summer.


council tax.

Depending on your circumstances you may be entitled to a reduction on your council tax bill. For more information regarding the single person discount or reductions that you may be entitled to contact your Financial Inclusion Officer.


DAF.

The Discretionary Assistance Fund provides 2 types of grant that you do not need to pay back. Emergency Assistance Payment (EAP) A grant to help pay for essential costs, such as food, gas, electricity, clothing or emergency travel. You cannot use it to pay for ongoing bills that you cannot afford to pay. Individual Assistance Payment (IAP) A grant to help you or someone you care for live independently in their home or a property that you or they are moving into.

There are various organisations that can help you with debt. The National Debtline has produced a guide on how to deal with debt and the organisations which can help you depending on your individual situation.

Speaking to our Financial Inclusion Officers can help you understand and maximise your benefits. From helping you submit an application to reviewing your current benefits and seeing if you may be entitled to more our team can assist you.

If you need help finding work, writing a CV or gaining valuable skills and experience our Financial Inclusion Officers can signpost you in the right direction. We offer services in all of the above and more.
