8 Form guide
9 Age
10 Weight
Included in the form guide below each horse is a form rating, calculated from the horse’s previous performances, taking into account a number of variables such as finishing position, distance won/beaten by, horses beaten/beaten by weight carried, race time (compared with the standard time) going allowance, number of days since that performance, etc.
Horses which have not raced will not have a form rating, as may some horses which have raced but not recently in Britain or their performances to-date have not yet merited a rating.
1. Pick your Racehorse, look around for the best odds on course, try to proffer the correct stake money for your wager
2. Ask the Bookmaker for your bet by naming the horse. The bookmaker will repeat your bet to his clerk, correct bookmaker if he makes a mistake and receive your Betting Ticket as a receipt for your bet.
3. If your horse wins, give your Betting Ticket to the bookmaker, check your winnings.
4. Check with the bookmaker when placing a bet, the Place Terms. Place Betting, not all on course bookmakers accept each way bets, ie. for a win or a place.
5. In the unlikely event of a dispute after adhering to this procedure, the bookmaker will tell the punter to approach the Ring Official, who will advise you as to your rights.
6. Some course bookmakers have minimum stakes.e.g. £1, £5, £10 but small backers are catered for in the racecourse Betting Shops.
In conjunction with The RCA, the bookmakers have introduced standard each-way terms. Bookmakers will provide these terms, or better, when offering each-way betting.
• Fewer than 3 runners - all on to win
• 3 or 4 runners – 1/5 odds a place 1,2
• 5 – 7 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1,2
• 8 or more runners – 1/5 odds a place 1,2,3
• Handicaps with 12 to 15 runners (inclusive) – 1/4 odds a place 1,2,3
• Handicaps with 16 to 21 runners (inclusive) – 1/5 odds a place 1,2,3,4
• Handicaps with 22 or more runners – 1/4 odds a place 1,2,3,4
All bookmakers must display on their boards whether they are betting each way or to win only

THAT’LL DO MOSS was a ready winner over 2m here in January and only just failed to follow that up when a close second in a Grade 2 when stepped to 2m4f at Sandown last month. With her stamina not in doubt, Fergal O’Brien’s mare could be very tough to overhaul as she bids to continue on her upwards trajectory. Hay Meadow appeals most from the rest with previous hurdles experience, while Roxby Belle has a likeable pedigree and merits close inspection on her racecourse debut.

MY KIWI GIRL was a good second to That’ll Do Moss (declared to run in the 2.30) over C&D on her penultimate start before filling the same position behind a Willie Mullins-trained improver at Newcastle last month. Those efforts set a decent standard and the daughter of Walk In The Park has a golden opportunity. Count Adhemar showed ability in a course bumper in January and may improve with obstacles now part of the equation. Similar comments apply to the returning Moon Phases, who rates the pick of Lucinda Russell’s pair.

Nick Alexander enjoyed a hat-trick of winners at the corresponding fixture last year and, with that in mind, BALLYFORT could be worth chancing on his first start since undergoing wind surgery. Potentially well placed to exploit a lenient rating, it would come as no surprise to see the son of Fame And Glory go one better than the second-placed finish he registered over C&D on his penultimate start. Royal Rhythm is feared most after his runner-up effort at Wetherby, while Vampire Slayer and Mix De Gris are other strong contenders.

3RD 4TH TIME RACE RESULT DISTANCES
Gipsy Lee Rose bids for a third win from her last four starts and she warrants respect in her current form, while Le Grand Vert finished third over C&D last month. However, HOLD THE NOTE finished behind the latter in sixth on that occasion and, having shaped better than the beaten distance suggests, Ewan Whillans’ gelding could be worth chancing off a 4lb lower mark. Le Grand Vert is another to consider.
