editor We have certainly had lots of visitors this summer, yet many businesses have complained that their sales were nowhere near what they had hoped for, while others claim to have had a bumper season. The difference being that those who did well offered a good quality service, quality products, quality ambiance (if needed) but not at extortionate prices. Those who seem to have suffered are the ones that could not justify their prices and those who catered for the lower market. It is the effect of the crisis, consumers who can afford to spend will not be fooled into paying more that the service is worth and at the lower end of the scale (the majority) were quite content to visit the supermarkets and eat sandwiches on the beach. Meanwhile the local councils still fail to learn their lesson and keep putting desirable tourists and residents off by dishing out unreasonable parking fines and failing to provide adequate parking facilities. I suppose they will not be happy until they have discouraged all the desirable element and are left with the last of the “big spenders”.

What’s News
As the readers’ demand for our magazine seems to be on the increase again, we have decided to increase the print run accordingly. Hopefully this time we shall satisfy the demand. We could print even more but our pace is dictated by advertisers; after all we are offering a quality product free of charge! I was glad to see an article about Tripadvisor on one of the local newspapers. I quite agree! You cannot rely on the veracity or accuracy of what is recommended.
Premier League clubs have spent almost £5bn on players since the transfer window was introduced 10 years ago with this summer’s spending set to match last year’s figure of more than £450m. Chelsea is the biggest spender with £681m going on transfer fees. Manchester City (£572m) and Liverpool (£414m) occupy second and third place. Deloitte
How can you possibly attach any credence to a website where anybody can freely express their own opinion and recommendations? This is just asking for abuse by the parties in question, their friends, their families and whoever they may make payment to. Why there are so many good restaurants, even some unheard of, is therefore of no surprise.
Neil Armstrong, the first man on the moon, died aged 82. He was commander of the Apollo 11 mission that landed on 20 July 1969. As he stepped onto the lunar surface, he famously declared: “That’s one small step for (a) man, one giant leap for mankind.” BBC
On the other hand a solitary comment by one client who has a bad experience (or has been put up to it) can hardly represent a reliable commentary about a restaurant or a hotel as a whole. As an example, I hardly think that a diner, who sprinkles Tomato Ketchup on his spaghetti, can express any opinion at all about cuisine. Personally I am also wary of any restaurants and hotel guides where one has to pay in order to be included; the more you pay the larger and better is your entry. This is why there are “Official” and professionally recognised, impartial guides that need to be purchased or subscribed to, such as the Michelin Guide. Naturally there is always that “excellent hotel” or “first class restaurant” that may have been omitted from a guide but then you will find out about it anyway when you get there or even try it. Just use your common sense.
Footballers’ wages have risen by a staggering 1,200% over the last 20 years. Players’ wages now account for 70% of club turnover on average, up from 48% in 1997 and fans are paying the cost. Even the cheapest tickets have risen by 1,000% since 1989 while we have seen record levels of club debt and poor performances by the national team. 6

Here is a lesson to be learned by our local councils in Spain. Chewing gum can lead you to a sticky situation in Singapore, where it is strictly forbidden. The law was introduced because it became difficult and expensive to remove stuck chewing gum from public spaces.

PEOPLE SAY
I AM EGOCENTRIC......TCEFREP MA I But enough about them …….
Recently in my business travels and whilst advising people, I have noticed that Business Proprietor and Company management narcissism is spreading with epidemic proportions throughout the business world. If you want your business to survive in the 21st century and survive the financial crisis then think on…………………. Whether small or large, Company narcissism occurs when employees become personally loyal to their bosses and superiors creating a need to seek approval before making any decisions. Unfortunately for the employee the Narcissistic employer works hard to cultivate this type of behaviour in their staff. This enhances the Narcissists’ self esteem but will do absolutely nothing for the long term security or stability of the business. All that happens is the business, whether small or large becomes a totalitarian style operation. Narcissists’ will always profess loyalty to the company or business but actually they are only really interested in their personal agendas, therefore all the important business decisions they make are based on the Narcissists’ own selfish interests rather than the interests of the business as a whole. Corporate Narcissism can materialize when a Narcissist becomes the owner, general manager or a 10

member of the senior management team and collects a specific mix of co-dependent staff or colleagues around him or her who will support their Narcissistic behaviour. This will inevitably lead to the deterioration of the whole business performance. Someone is codependent if they unable do things or make decisions without someone else being there with them.
would go to a legal advisor, for a financial problem one would make use of an accountants expertise and with all of these professionals one tends to take the advice given. So why not listen to experienced businessmen, business advisors, business therapists and trouble-shooters? Especially those who have been in the same type of business for many years.
The word ‘narcissism’ comes from the Greek myth of Narcissus. Narcissus was a handsome Greek youth who rejected the desperate advances of the nymph Echo. As punishment, he was doomed to fall in love with his own reflection in a pool of water. Unable to consummate his love, Narcissus lay gazing enraptured into the pool, hour after hour, and finally changed into a flower that bears his name, the narcissus.
To have a healthy business venture one must work towards creating a team that has the entire interests of the business at heart and all work together towards furthering the aims and improvement of the business. This will enhance the business and lift moral which will be noticed by the Clients and Customers and will do no harm at all to the turnover. Make sure you work together as a team, show respect to each other and trust in each other’s expertise. Whether you are the owner or the office cleaner, remember that you are all working for the business as a whole and it is the business that will pay the wages and expand with the input from the entire team. No single person is more important than all the other cogs in the wheel.
My main reason for writing this comes from the amount of businesses that I see or advise who are slowly but surely slipping into that area of no return. Unfortunately the Narcissist’s tend not to listen to anyone else but themselves or their hangers on. There have been many times when I have been asked to help motivate a struggling business where my advice has not been followed or even listened to properly and the business has moved into difficult times. If one has a health problem then one would go to a medical advisor, if one has a legal problem then one

BACK TO SCHOOL Well, if you go to school in England you would have started your term early in September, unfortunately for those in Scotland it would have been much earlier in August. Private international schools on the Costa also start in early September, whereas Spanish students seem to have the longest holidays lasting until the 17th/18th September. University for students in the UK has become a serious expense. Those who started last year will end up with a final bill of around £26,000, but those starting this September are being hit with the new fee regime and could face bills of nearly double in total. An alternative might well be to go to university in Ireland where the tuition fee is £1,760. Denmark and Norway both offer free tuition to students from within the EU, but the cost of living is much higher. The advantage is that the tuition is in English but some are significantly tougher than in Britain. Underperformers are can soon be weeded out. Although summer is now over, there are still a couple of things on that you might like not to have missed, but you need to visit them before they close for the season: Games for Children, Charity Sardine Party & Football Tournament at the Municipal Statium in San Fernando on the 8th September from 5pm. For parents who want to make sure their children are well looked after while they go out for their break they may need a Reliable Babysitting Service. You may call Typhaine at any time on 618 273 481, she personally vets all her qualified, experienced babyminders to ensure that they have good references and speak your language. This is your last chance to see “The 12

See how the human body works; all human bodies and various organs on display are real and preserved with a unique rubberising process. This fascinating exhibition is one of the most popular science exhibitions worldwide and has come to Spain for the first time. Not for the squeamish or the very young. The Palaeontology Museum, at the Bullring in Estepona will remain open until the 16th September. See some dinosaurs and other pre-historic fossils. Self Defence Classes The ideal time to teach children to defend themselves in this aggressive world is when they are young. Tempest Kickboxing school teach children from age 5. PONY CLUB ESTEPONA & YOUNGER KIDS CLUB Most of you should by now be aware of the Pony Club located at the Riding School in Estepona, which is most definitely the most prestigious and best equipped riding School in Andalucia and probably in the whole of Spain. It most certainly is more modern and far and above the quality of standard offered in the UK. Last month we did mention that Julia Gladstone is now back at the Pony Club and I am sure this news will please many a child as well as parents, many of whom have already expressed their delight. Some of her past young students have now become serious riders and even distinguish themselves at international competitions.
Julia teaches BHS (British Horse Society) standards and B.H.S. certificates are recognised all over the world. It may be worth mentioning that the riding school is also a B.H.S. examination centre. When I asked her what her future intentions are she replied that, given the support, she would like to re-introduce some of the popular events such as the Halloween Party and the Christmas Show for the benefit of parents watching their children perform. Meanwhile she has started a Saturday afternoon Club for the benefit of the younger children and start showing them that there is a lot more to learn beyond keeping their balance sitting on a saddle. There are serious courses to be followed in stable management and many a good career opportunities anywhere in the world.

Baileys and chocolate cheesecake This can be a WOW at dinner parties
I was born in 1947 in Newcastle Northern Ireland. I was taught my sport at Royal County Down in Northern Ireland. My whole family were involved in my chosen sport. One of my relations was a green keeper for 50 years and another was a club professional and a very famous club maker. I was bought golf clubs from a young age and it grew from there. My parents didn’t have a lot of money so I decided I would turn professional when I was 18. I went to a very famous professional golfer called Fred Daly and I learned a great deal. We used to hit balls every day and he was very encouraging. One of the outstanding things about my chosen career is that it introduces you to everything and everybody. You can meet the most incredible people from all walks of life. Throughout my career I have played with royalty and movie stars as well as some of the most famous players in the world. I represented Great Britain and Ireland team in the Ryder Cup (1973). I won the European Tour four times and the European Senior Tour twice. I have been living in Spain since 2010. Who am I? Wow UK Olympics 2012
main feature
What can we say? What a fantastic couple of weeks for UK limited. Wow. London promised us the greatest show on earth and by George they did it!. The venues were superb and were not only finished on time but were finished to an excellent standard. Everything that was planned went off brilliantly. The Police, M15, the Army and of course the Home Office kept everyone safe and secure. Around 70,000 volunteers kept everyone organised and happy with their banter and smiles. All the transport links worked and even the weather turned out nice again. London town had a wonderful buzz and showed off its impressive grand, noble and aesthetically stunning Capitol City to its best. What a proud time for all Brits. What more could anyone want for a great day out. How amazing were all the volunteers, always smiling and giving off a fantastic happy vibe indicating how pleased they were to be a part of London Olympic history. The Team GB Athletes were to my mind inspirational and became sporting heroes to many people young and old. All of the medallists have helped to lift the Nation’s spirits immeasurably I am sure have motivated a generation of young people to use sport on their way to their own glory. I hope we can harness all this enthusiasm and invest in a future sporting generation. Now it is all over and the world’s athletes have headed home and the wonderful party is all over the question of the legacy of London 2012 and its £9bn price tag begins to rear its serious head. Lord Coe has been appointed as the new legacy ‘Boss’ which should come as no surprise. With his experience, commitment and sheer drive, he is an obvious choice to play a central role in ensuring that the Olympics were not just 16 days of fantastic sporting and logistical achievement but will also make a lasting contribution to Britain. His achievements in putting together London’s winning bid and then delivering it spectacularly and with such stylish imperturbability, deserve our praise and thanks. Perhaps though his new job will prove to be a tad tougher. One of the best things about London 2012 was the fantastic support all Team GB competitors received
from the fans at all the venues and from the British public everywhere. Even though it may be hard to imagine right now, the Olympic Park and surrounding areas are to be transformed into five neighbourhoods with 8,000 new homes, three schools, nine nurseries and believe it or not 29 playgrounds. The Athletes Village is to be turned into affordable living accommodation following the sale to developers for around 557 million pounds. Hopefully the new residents will be able to move into the Village as early as next summer. This is all part of a grand plan which will regenerate one of London’s poorest areas. It is good to know that this area will definitely benefit from the legacy of the games. It is hoped that around 8000 permanent jobs will be created by 2030 and it is expected that a third of the population will be living in affordable homes. The Aquatics Centre is to have its capacity reduced and open for public swimming. Those of us who were inspired by Tom Daley will be able to try out the two 50m pools in the Aquatics Centre, for the same cost as using a local leisure centre. Many of the eight venues will also be opened for use by the community. Tourists will be able to climb the ArcelorMittal Orbit tower for views across London, while music fans will be able to watch gigs at the Copper Box which will be used as a multi-event arena. The body, which owns the 559-acre park, expects a short-term change within two to three years as the park reopens and the first homes are inhabited. Let us hope that it all comes to pass and that the legacy of the London 2012 Olympics The Paralympics are, of course, still to come, and our understanding from the media is that ticket sales are rapidly selling out and it will be a brilliant success. With the serious business of the Olympic legacy already under way let us hope that the final outcome will be a fantastic legacy of re-development for East London and a boost to the Country as a whole. www.webexpressguide.com

HEALTH & BEAUTY
Introducing the Raindrop Technique now available at MBA The Raindrop Technique is an amazing body treatment, using aromatherapy essential oils, but it is not a traditional aromatherapy massage. The technique starts by treating the feet with Vita Flex (Tibetan reflexology). Then the treatment continues on the client’s back, and the pure essential oils are ‘dropped’ like raindrops up the spinal area which helps with structural alignment. It is designed to bring balance to the body with its relaxing and mild application. It will help align the energy centres and release them if blocked, but without using hard pressure or trying to force the body to change. Medical grade, therapeutic essential oils from Young Living are applied in a particular sequence, starting with a blend called Valor. Valor oxygenates the blood cells preparing them for the oils that are to follow. The treatment then continues with the essential oils of oregano, thyme, cypress, wintergreen, marjoram, peppermint, a blend called Aroma Seize and finally Valor again. A vegetable blend oil complex is also used throughout the treatment to dilute the essential oils. The treatment then continues by using a warm compress over the back which helps the oils to penetrate and a neck stretch, a cranial hold and a neck flex completes the treatment. Most people would agree that massage is soothing, relaxing and pleasurable, but Raindrop Technique is unquestionably far superior as it combines essential oils with special massage techniques to add greater therapeutic benefits and the results are amazing. If you suffer with any kind of muscular pain, the Raindrop technique will certainly help. The majority of the oils are anti-inflammatory, as well as anti-bacterial, anti-viral and of course anti-septic. It is a fantastic treatment for sciatica or any kind of muscular problems. There is also an ‘emotional release’ Raindrop, which uses different essential oils. Marbella Beauty Academy offers the Raindrop as treatment in the salon, and also runs short courses for therapists to learn a new treatment or for anyone interested in using essential oils to reduce pain. Anyone can do the Raindrop Technique as it is not a massage and really easy to learn. Please call for more details.

What is cholesterol? Cholesterol is a type of fat. It’s found in all the cells in your body and forms part of their outer layer. Cholesterol is also an essential part of many important hormones including oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone.
There are two main types of cholesterol. • Low-density lipoprotein (LDL). This is also known as ‘bad’ cholesterol. High levels of LDL cholesterol can lead to atherosclerosis, a process in which fatty deposits build up on the walls of your arteries. This can reduce or block the blood flow in your arteries, leading to heart disease and stroke. • High-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. This is also known as ‘good’ cholesterol. It carries excess cholesterol out of your blood to your liver, where it’s processed and removed from your body.
Sources of cholesterol There are two different sources of cholesterol – some comes from the food you eat, but most of it is made within your body. Not many foods actually contain cholesterol. Examples of some that do are: eggs – liver – kidney- prawns. However your liver can produce all of the cholesterol your body needs so
dietary cholesterol isn’t an essential part of your diet. Your cholesterol levels are mainly influenced by the other fats that you eat.
Saturated fats The saturated fats you eat have the biggest impact on cholesterol levels in your body. Saturated fats are found in foods such as meat, cheese, butter, cream and pastries.
Unsaturated fats Unsaturated fats actually reduce levels of LDL cholesterol in your blood. For this reason they can be a healthy choice, and it’s a good idea to replace saturated fats in your diet with unsaturated fats. Unsaturated fats are found in vegetable oils, sunflower spreads, nuts and avocados.
Trans fats Trans fats are artificially solidified vegetable oils. Similar to saturated fats, trans fats raise levels of LDL cholesterol, so try to save foods containing these fats for an occasional treat. Trans fats are found in many types of processed foods, including, biscuits, cakes and pastries.
Your cholesterol level Your cholesterol level can be measured with a simple blood test. You can have a cholesterol test done at your GP surgery. However, it’s important to remember that as well as your cholesterol level, other factors such as smoking and high blood pressure increase your risk of heart disease and stroke.

Totally inspired by the 20’s look, my collection reflects all the tendencies of that era, short coats, knee length skirts over two coloured clothes...
Forest green is one of the characteristic colours used to include jackets, trousers as well as handbags and accessories highlighted with golden chain appliqués and decorations; baguette bags, handbags trimmed with imitation diamonds. A special mention mus be made of necklaces in false carey and necklaces and rings with mink pompoms. Mine is a clear intention to please all the ladies who visit my collection, created for dynamic and somewhat risqué women with the idea of wearing a different, distinctive fashion with the savoir faire of someone who loves them.

BUSINESS & MONEY
Sell In May And Go Away!!
By Richard Alexander Dip. PFS
As far as stock markets are concerned, you may well have heard this saying, as traditionally, markets can be fairly lackluster during the Summer months but not this year it would seem!!
It is always wise to retain a certain amount of cash on deposit where it can be readily accessed in the event of an emergency and how much really depends on each individual but beyond that, a sensible spread of investments should be considered and as far as possible, tax efficiency should also be a consideration.
Since the end of May 2012, apart from a couple of corrections along the way, the Ftse 100 share index has been steadily climbing in value, admittedly on very thin trading but nonetheless, the index has moved from 5272.30 at the end of May to 5860+ by the middle of August – that’s a 11% rise over a 10 week period. So did the Bulls forget to go on holiday this year perhaps?
A mixture of investment types across a range of asset classes is the ideal and thankfully, there are a number of Multi Manager options available to choose from which should ensure the right mix can be accessed and this can be arranged to meet individual risk tolerance as well.
Now of course it is fair to say that most people will not be invested in the 100 share index directly but even so, it is not a bad barometer to get a feel for what is going on. Now that we have seen that growth in value, unless you were invested in markets, you have missed that particular boat, but where do things go from here. Whilst we know that the wrong time to enter a market is when prices are high but judging where markets may go from any point in time is always very difficult. It is no different now, given all of the uncertainties that exist today that we are all too familiar with. However, when markets run, the place to be is in them and not sitting on the sidelines. For some while now, big institutional fund investors and major corporations have been stockpiling cash and effectively sitting on their hands waiting for the feel good factors to creep back in but as the holiday season starts to draw to a close and the children are going back to school, there is a view that says the Bulls will indeed return to the markets and that we will see some of those cash mountains piling into markets and if that happens, we are likely to see the results in even higher market values still. All very interesting stuff perhaps, but what should the average investor be thinking right now and what action should be taken. 28

Well, the Olympics are now over, and yes well done England, and yes no surprise China won most of the medals, and now starts the muttering: “It must be something they put in their food”, “may be drugs”, “may be they are robots” ( I made this one up). So a very young girl did very, very well in swimming. So what? Are young girls not allowed to be great winners or are they only allowed to be the best singer, best dancer, Miss World... It would be strange if Miss World had to declare anything artificial in or on her body. There would be nothing left to judge. Now it’s the turn of the Paralympics, you know, those elite people who just want to be treated the same as everyone else. But if so, why were they not in the first round of the Olympics? Does this mean that we could be seeing special “obese” people’s Olympics, “anorexic” Olympics, and Olympics for people with anger management issues? (I would buy a ticket for this one). In a certain Sunday paper, some woman was bleating about deaf people not getting enough recognition. What’s she after? Deaf Olympics? What’s stopping deaf people anyway? As an example, swimmers can’t hear almost anything once in the water surely! Although it might be a bit awkward with the
I

starting pistol. If you are deaf, go for it, I say, put your name down for the next Olympics. Oh! you can’t swim? Not fast enough? Well join the real world, neither can I. And what’s with the girls throwing balls or hoops around and dancing. What kind of sport is that? Just thought I’d ask. So back to China. I have my own opinion on why they are so good and that’s because the trainers are allowed to shout at their pupils I expect, or tell them when in practice their performance is s--t. Don’t forget in England they go for non competitive sports so as not to make the useless kids feel bad, and I know; I was partnered with some when I was young. You know the type, their socks would always stay up and their pony tails would stay perfect all day long. Well now you know why they were useless, they never did anything and were pathetic at anything they had to do sport wise. You know what I? I mean the ones that always hit the ball up in the air at rounders, yes the ones that were always the last to be picked but always ended up in my team. I have met a couple since and they are still pathetic. Sorry! They still bake great cup cakes and can iron really well (bless). So if you want to excel at anything don’t get upset when your trainer occasionally shouts at you and says: “that was c—p”. Until next time... keep on track!

LÍNEA DIRECTA ADVISES YOU HOW TO ACT IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT Línea Directa Insurance advises you of the steps to follow in case of a road accident in Spain. Call the emergency number: 112. They will coordinate the procedure and will ask you in detail about the circumstances of the accident. Remain calm at all times. Switch on the emergency lights and if the state of the vehicle permits, remove the vehicle from the road, in order to avoid delays and further accidents, to the extent possible. Signal the accident location. Before stepping
out of the car, put on your high-visibility jacket, which is compulsory, and place the emergency triangles correctly. The first must be placed about 50 metres behind the car in the direction of the traffic, and the second about 100m. If someone is seriously injured, never try to move them, except if in danger of fire or imminent explosion. Cover the injured person, keep them calm and wait for the emergency services to arrive. If the circumstances of the location allow, always fill in the European accident report, which is an essential document for speeding up the procedures and handling between the insurance companies. If you have any doubt about how to do this, don’t hesitate to call your insurance company.

It’s a mini Mercedes! Well, more or less. It’s been a strange journey for Smart. It launched a truly revolutionary three-cylinder engine city car, and then disappeared off the rails in a vain search to expand on the idea, even going so far as to launch a bland hatchback. Now sanity returned and we’re back to the revolution of a car you can park nose-to-kerb. The smart Fortwo Cabrio is a little bit of sunshine every day. The hard-shelled urban driving champ makes city driving a joy, parking stress-free and brings your fuel consumption and emissions right down. You can even pop down the electronically-operated sunroof and feel the wind in your hair. The Fortwo Cabrio is available in Petrol or diesel Obviously you have to get past the idea this is a twoseater. Anyone who occasionally needs more has to get a regular little car. A Smart’s boot isn’t a bad size and the passenger seat folds forward. But you can’t fit a tow bar. For a more detailed review see BBC Topgear at: www.topgear.com/uk/smart

the films Margaret Director: Kenneth Lonergan Starring: Anna Paquin, J Smith-Cameron, Jean Reno, Mark Ruffalo, Matt Damon DRAMA
A Dangerous Inheritance By Alison Wier Publisher Hutchinson The year is 1562. Lady Catherine Grey, cousin of Elizabeth I, has just been arrested along with her husband Edward. Their crime is to have secretly married and produced a child who might threaten the Queen’s title. Alone in her chamber at the Tower of London, Catherine hears ghostly voices, echoes, she thinks, of a crime committed in the same room where she is imprisoned. The story flashes back to 1483 and another Catherine - Kate Plantaganet, bastard daughter of Richard III. She has heard terrible rumours of the death of the young deposed Edward V and his brother (the Princes in the Tower) but loyalty to her father prevents her believing them. After his death at Bosworth, she is viewed with suspicion by Henry VII’s court, even more so when she becomes pregnant. Catherine, too, is pregnant, a friendly warder having sneaked Edward into her room. She finds documents relating to Kate’s life and gets swept up both in Kate’s story and the mystery of the Princes, which she realises Kate never solved... 36

HoroscopeS Your future as foretold by the Sabinillas gipsy VIRGO
(August 23-September 22)
Mercury is back in your sign from that time, around the 9th, so there’s a feeling of completion at last regarding certain situations left undone or undefined for far too long. Full moon on 12th deepens emotions and meaningful connection within all relationships, especially romance and a beautiful aspect between Mercury in your sign to lucky planet Jupiter around the 14th opens your mind (and therefore the door of opportunity) towards your heart’s desire/s.
LIBRA
(September 23-October 22)
Quite quiet up to midmonth, then Sun moves into your sign on 15th and 23rd. Events around 17th put you in touch with some intense emotions – it’s a chance to let go of feelings about past relationships that are not relevant for who you are now, and 26th is a full on kind of time.
SCORPIO (October 23-November 21)
Fabulous first week. Your ruler Pluto links up lovely with expansion planet Jupiter. It’s superb for relationships, and for big relationship talks. No more moving in circles, things actually spiral with development when these two planets are working together. Work problems are highlighted around the 17th.
SAGITTARIUS
(November 22 - December 21)
Your ruler Jupiter links up to transformation planet Pluto on the 2nd, which indicates an excellent period of expansion and development in store this month, particularly around the subject of finances. It’s a kind of clear the clutter urge in general that hits you, and as ever with Pluto, the challenge is to let go of the urge to control the uncontrollable.
CAPRICORN
(December 22 - January 19)
You are going through a bit of a transformation with yourself at times this month, maybe literally with a make-over or style change, but also through your impact on situations; creatively, romantically, it’s all feeling powerful and profound and you’re the one who makes it happen. Career or long-term plans dominate your focus from the 15th and especially around 17th/18th.
AQUARIUS (January 20-February 18)
Relationships are a bit up in the air for a while this month, and it’s you who feels a bit foggy with details or oblivious about what others are trying to convey. It’s a temporary blind spot that changes from the 19th, and especially on the 23rd, when passionate Mars sharpens your focus, powers up your intentions and quickens the pace of events around relationships, and also travel and education.
38
www.webexpressguide.com
PISCES
(February 19-March 20)
Friendships, groups and gatherings are a focus of growth, change and development all month, and sometimes it’s plain sailing, sometimes a rollercoaster, but the underlying vibe is positive progress, even with a rather challenging new moon on the 27th. Romance feels fun and contented around the 10th, and deepens in intimacy after midmonth.
ARIES
(March 21-April 19)
Your ruler Mars moves into the most creative angle of your chart from the 19th; it’s all about what makes your heart sing, so follow your bliss and the entertainment value of that. Interesting month relationship-wise; there’s a cosy comfort zone feel around the 10th, but 17th speaks of sudden moves and unpredictability; both extremes seem to feed events around new moon time on the 27th
TAURUS
(April 20-May 20)
Lovely vibe for big change and transformation up to midmonth; it feels natural, easy to accommodate, and very much wanted, despite indicating some doors closing it’s easy to trust that what you need will be there when you need it. It’s lovely for love around the 10th, and from the 17th there’s not much time lag between problem and solution, which makes problems much sweeter to bear.
GEMINI
(May 21-June 21)
Around the 8th there’s potential for confusion or uncertainty in communication or connections; this might echo events from early August, or perhaps a resurfacing issue is a chance to tie loose ends or find certainty over vagueness. Love dynamics are at their most passionate at the end of the month but before that, go with the flow and no trying to force circumstances your way.
CANCER
( June 22-July 22)
Go for communication (especially in romance) around the 10th as you hold a perfect blend in attitude, pushy yet harmony-seeking. Full moon on 9th brings feelings of fulfilment from a learning curve; the joy really is in how you view the journey, which is good to remember around the 17th. Finance/career opportunities can surface suddenly around the 23rd.
LEO
( July 23-August 22)
There’s a temporary blind spot in love around the 8th. Love-struck Leo’s might not feel the full picture then, but also this could be a residue of events from early August (hard to feel heard and easy to feel absence). It’s temporary. Mars into Leo from 19th means motivation is high and momentum easy to maintain. You want to keep moving and active, and your view of what’s possible is positive.
VIRTUAL HUMOUR
A blonde, a brunette and a red head were smoking cigarettes one afternoon. The blonde had Camels, red head had Marlboros, and the brunette had Kools. It began to pour down raining, so the red head and brunette both pull out a condom and put it on their cigs. The blonde says “what are you doing?” and they say “we’re saving it for later!” Impressed, and in a hurry, the blonde goes to the nearest store and asks for a condom. The clerk says “What size? small, medium, or large?” She said “I dont know... one to fit a camel?” I was having dinner with Garry Kasparov (world chess champion) and there was a check tablecloth. It took him two hours to pass me the salt. I tried water polo but my horse drowned. What’s the difference between a politician and a vampire? A vampire only sucks the blood out of people at night. My Dad used to say ‘always fight fire with fire’, which is probably why he got thrown out of the fire brigade. I’m in a Chinese restaurant and this duck comes up with a red rose and says: “Your eyes sparkle like diamonds.” I said: “Waiter, I asked for a-ROMATIC duck.” A woman has twins, and gives them up for adoption. One goes to a family in Egypt and is named Amal. The other goes to Spain and is named Juan. Years later, Juan sends a picture of himself to his mum. Upon receiving it, she tells her husband that she wished she also had a picture of Amal. Her husband said: “But they are twins. If you’ve seen Juan, you’ve seen Amal.”
