Our aim is to be the best there is as far as marketing and promoting businesses is concerned. This is what we do and what we shall continue doing for years to come. editor page I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and I extend my special thanks to all who supported and encouraged us in the course of the past year. It is unfortunate we live in such troubled times when some have so little regard and respect for others’ beliefs and traditions while choosing to bully their way with threats and murder. I can only hope that with God’s Will these future 12 months will see the end of this terrible plague that is affecting the world. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all!

Did you know that..? As many as 13 per cent of drivers still use a hand-held mobile phone while at the wheel. Four per cent admitted regularly sending or reading text messages while driving, according to a poll. Only 36 per cent believed the mobile phone ban should be extended to hands-free kits, the survey by road safety charity Brake and insurer Direct Line found. Daily Telegraph According to official Spanish statistics, the number of UK citizens registered as living in Spain fell by nearly 90,000, a drop of 23%. Germans and French citizens also left in large numbers. The only foreign nationals to increase their presence in Span were the Chinese, whose numbers rose 2% to 185,250. Daily Mail Retail prices are falling at the fastest rate since records began. Ferocious competition on the high street is forcing retailers to offer cut-price food, clothes, footwear and electrical items. The British Retail Council says typical prices in the shops were down by 1.8% in June year-onyear. Food prices mildly bucked the trend with a marginal inflation of 0.6%, but the cost of non-edible items dropped by 3.4%. The Times All passengers flying into and out of the UK have been told that mobile devices in their hand luggage must have enough charge to be switched on. The new guidelines come after the US announced extra security checks last week. The rules cover phones, tablets and other gadgets including razors and cameras. The Observer Foreign patients will be clobbered with a bill for 150 per cent of the cost of NHS treatment in a crackdown on health tourism. They will pay inflated charges such as £2,244 for having a baby, £2,800 for cataract surgery and £12,865 for a hip replacement. It is intended to recoup the £500million lost every year by not chasing people from outside the European Union for using the NHS. The Times Real Madrid is the world’s most valuable sports team. The club is worth an estimated $3.44bn (£2bn). Barcelona comes in second place at $3.2bn, with Manchester United third, thanks to a value of $2.81bn. How many New Year’s Eves? Did you know that you can celebrate New Year as many as six times in Spain? Well we know they take celebrations rather seriously in Spain… 1. The first New Year’s Eve in Spain usually takes place on the second Thursday before Christmas. It is the Noche Vieja Universitaria (University’s New Year), which takes place in Salamanca. The University New Year is for students of the famous university in Salamanca who will be unable to celebrate the normal New Year with their friends because of family commitments. The students pretend it is not mid-December and go through all the usual New Year’s Eve traditions, including the famous grapeeating! 2. Next up is midday (not midnight) on December 30, in Puerta del Sol in Madrid, for the bell-ringing rehearsal. Again, this celebration is for those who can’t attend the real celebration because of prior commitments or for those who can’t handle the idea of all the crowds that will congregate on the actual day (Puerta del Sol is as busy as Times Square or Leicester Square on New Year’s Eve proper). 3. Later on the same day is the Alternative

Bell-Ringing for Geeks which takes place at Plaza de Castilla, in front of the tree they have set up there! The Spanish friki (geek or nerd) subculture is quite big. 4. Also on December 30, at 8pm, the town of Lepe celebrates New Year’s Eve early (and they celebrate it again the following day too!). 5. Then, of course, comes the real New Year’s Eve on December 31. You may be surprised that, for a country famous for its drinking, that most bars will be closed on the stroke of midnight. This is because most people spend the time with their families. However, the city’s main square will certainly give you that communal New Year’s feeling. Of course they do party, but it doesn’t start until later. 6. Lastly, there is New Year’s Eve in August, which takes place in the tiny village of Berchules on the first Saturday of the month. Why? Because a power cut in the midnineties meant that New Year’s Eve had to be cancelled, so they rescheduled the big event for August. The re-run was such a success that they’ve run this second New Year ever since! Whatever you do, don’t forget your 12 grapes... www.webexpressguide.com

The first and most obvious is happening right here in Europe with the supermarkets that copy products marking them with their own brand. The idea being that the product can be offered cheaper than the well known more expensive branded counterpart. The core of the matter is that the products they offer under their own brand clearly has to reflect their local good reputation with clients and of course, right under the health & safety department nose, they have to be sure that such products meet with the required standards. The most daring high street supermarket would seem to be ALDI who ruthlessly copy top brands with good quality that is often even better than the original. Most of their products are usually made in the same country of their stores and made by the same suppliers of the branded products. Good House Keeping voted that Aldi’s Christmas Pudding was better than that of Harrods

There are two sides to copying a product or shall we say faking a product.

and Heston’s in a blind taste test. That is one secret of their success behind the cheaper prices and popularity with shoppers, the other is that they will only stock products which they know will sell, reducing the choice of products on sale but getting better prices from suppliers for the larger quantities they can order. But the main reason for its success is the way in which it markets its ‘own brand’ products riding on the back of all the established brands that spent years and millions to build. All of this is done above board and while the products are as good or better and cheaper who is to complain? Then there is the other side, the nasty side. Fake products have plagued mankind for centuries; next to prostitution, historians consider counterfeiting the world’s second www.webexpressguide.com

oldest profession. But it is criminal when such fakes and counterfeit are created with the intention of deceiving consumers, not just with an inferior quality product but often one that endangers the life of the user. Clearly the motive here is to line the pocket of the supplier at the expense of the consumer even if it does endanger the consumers’ well being. The number of cases exposed, unfortunately many when it’s too late, seems to be growing daily: •

14

Some 90 per cent of counterfeit drugs are thought to be made in China

Fake Viagra tablets that are linked to stroke, liver failure and even death

A source at a Las Vegas hospital said Viagra from China also contained cocaine and opiates.

Fraudulent items come into the US

Some 336 cases of counterfeit seeds, pesticides and fertilizers have been uncovered in the past six months in China

Fake fertilizers can destroy the soil, the food and your body.

Wheat gluten adulterated with melamine finds its way from China into “all natural” pet food in the United States, killing thousands of cats and dogs

Fake car wheels that break the moment they hit a small pothole at slow speeds endangering the lives of drivers and pedestrians

The list is endless. This is why I fail to understand

this recent familiarity with China, the number one country that produces more than 40% of the global fakes & counterfeits of the world. They can’t even copy properly! Surely the best solution ought to be to ban all imports from that country and include the other major culprits like Taiwan and Singapore. Of course many a top brand use the cheaper manufacturing costs in these countries but there should be some legislation requiring such products to be inspected before shipment by specially appointed, above corruption, inspectors from each importing country. While these threats to our health persist, is up to us the consumers to avoid buying any produces made in China and the like countries. Be especially careful when buying product online.

Bigger & better If you thought that Cocomo Restaurant closed for their usual annual break you could not be more mistaken! Yes, they did have a few days off but the unannounced surprise was that the break was mainly used to re-open as KOKOMO in other, much larger and better premises in Avenida Pernet, within the Urb. Atalaya Golf. It is quite easy to find, coming from San Pedro, take the Diana Park exit and turn right just before the Diana Centre, follow through and it’s on the right. The original premises were getting far too small to meet the demand that the excellent food and excellent service have created over the years, especially when they also represent best value for money. The new KOKOMO restaurant in its new premises is far more representative of the quality on offer to diners. It is bigger, more spacious on the inside with a view of the beautiful swimming pool at the rear and from the smokers’ terrace. Now there is also an additional bonus; there are the well kept gardens which are the ideal location for summer dining “al fresco”. Indeed they are and also perfect for B.B.Q.s and summer parties and receptions.

16

www.webexpressguide.com

The launch in the new premises took place on the 1st December. I don´t know how the diners managed to find the address of the new location but it was a full house which makes me wonder if the new, substantially increased capacity is going to be enough now that the news are out. When we called to take some photos for this article, the restaurant was buzzing to the delight of diners who were clearly having a great time. The atmosphere was incredible! I cannot imagine what it will be like

in the events of the Christmas Eve dinner ad New Year’s Eve special menu. Feasts for a king no doubt! How can I describe the evening? Live entertainment, music, lights, Christmas decorations, waiter and waitresses moving from table to table serving some exquisitely prepared dishes; I wished that I had booked a table for myself. There wasn’t one available anyway. In conclusion, KOKOMO is definitely one of the best restaurants of this Costa, not just for the atmosphere, the fantastic food and service but also for the excellent value for money that is on offer. This is why reservations are still recommended especially over the holiday period, but do bear in mind that they are closed on Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.

Put the flour and sugar in a large bowl, add the yeast on one side and the salt on the other. Add the butter & 200ml/7fl oz of the milk and stir together.

Add the remaining milk and form a soft dough. Transfer to a floured surface and knead until smooth and pliable.

Mix the nutmeg, cloves, vanilla, almond extract, almonds, dried fruit and mixed peel in a large bowl. Put the dough on top and knead to incorporate the dried fruit and spices as you go. Cover the bowl with cling film and leave to rise for 1-2 hours in a warm place, or until doubled in size.

Flatten the dough on a lightly floured surface to a rectangle. Brush with the melted butter.

Roll out the marzipan. Place on top of the dough in the middle. Roll the dough up to enclose the marzipan and transfer to a baking tray lined with baking parchment. Cover and leave until risen and doubled in size.

Preheat the oven to 190C/375F/Gas 5 (fan 170C), bake for an hour. Remove from the oven, brush with melted butter, and dust with icing sugar. Serve cold.

You must try Khinkali A traditional tasty & juicy dumpling from the Georgian cuisine On arrival in Tbilisi, border agents don’t just stamp your passport; they hand you a bottle of wine. It’s a fitting welcome to Georgia where dinner guests are exalted as “gifts from God” and traditional feasts called supras unfold in biblical proportions, sometimes lasting for days on end. Fusion cuisine is most certainly not a novelty in Georgia, it is traditional. It’s hard to find dishes anywhere that so deftly intermingle Eastern and Western worlds. The similarities aren’t coincidental; sitting at the midpoint of ancient East–West trade routes, Georgians could cherry-pick the best of what the Greeks, Mongols, Turks, and Arabs were cooking along the Silk Road.

22

www.webexpressguide.com

Variables aside, there are certain dishes you shouldn’t leave Georgia (or a Georgian restaurant) without tasting. These are the nonnegotiable—the unforgettable bites that keep Georgia on your mind. Khinkali is eaten plain, or with ground black pepper. They are dumplings filled with meat and juices trapped inside. Broth is often added to the meat to make the Kinkali juicier. The top, where the pleats meet, is tough, and is not supposed to be eaten, so that those eating can count how many they have consumed. There is a widespread etiquette to use one’s bare hands, the using of a fork and knife is not considered polite.

Beware of the Killer Turkey You can’t be too careful these days, especially with poultry. If frozen, follow the instructions on the wrapper. Thaw thoroughly in a cool room. See the table below for thawing/cooking times. Check the weight of your bird together with any stuffing against the left hand column then read off the correct thawing and cooking times. Take special care with large birds.

Separate raw and cooked foods and clean all surfaces/equipment well. Always wash your hands thoroughly after handling raw poultry.

Remove giblets before cooking and preferably DO NOT STUFF the bird. Cook stuffing separately otherwise stuff the neck area only.

Cook at a high temperature (Gas mark 7/425ºF/220ºC) for 30-45 minutes, then lower temperature (Gas Mark 3/325º/F170ºC) for remaining cooking time. Test if poultry is cooked with a skewer into the thickest part of the thigh juices should run clear with no sign of red or pink.

Ensure that any blood and water from defrosting bird does not drip or contaminate other food, work surfaces, or cutting boards.

Place any leftovers in the fridge (below 5ºC) within one and a half hours. Do not keep leftovers for more than 3 days.

Do you still believe

Tripadvisor’s clients opinions?

Here is another concrete example of Tripadvisor’s deceiving information as published by the Daily Mail on 10th November 2015. If you follow this link you will see for yourself that The Quay Restaurant in Ilfracombe shows 446 customers’ reviews and as much as four stars rating for food, service, ambience and so on (as at time of editing). http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_ Review-g191252-d1404852-ReviewsThe_Quay_Restaurant-Ilfracombe_Devon_ England.html Tripadvisor’s description is as follows: “The Quay restaurant in Ilfracombe is home to a unique and substantial collection of Damien Hirst's works. The classical fronted building has been beautifully restored and now relates well to the stunning views out to the Atlantic and the traditional harbour of this ancient port. Exmoor Angus beef served at The Quay has been bred within a few miles of the restaurant, and the Lundy crab and lobster 28

www.webexpressguide.com

is delivered on a daily basis by the fishermen who catch it just a few miles off shore. With a wine list to delight the heart of the average oenophile, and a stellar selection of West County cheeses and home-made desserts on the menu, The Quay is a genuine treat for discerning food and art lovers alike.” Unfortunately no one from Tripadvisor would seem to have been there to judge for themselves and their statement is entirely reliant on the opinion of diners impressed by the upmarket appearances. However when it came to a sanitary inspection, the restaurant horribly failed on food hygiene and safety especially when serving high risk foods like sushi, carpaccio and sashimi which are raw. Apart from the fact that comments, favourable or unfavourable, are unreliable, placed by people with resentment, competitors or by others paid by the restaurants themselves so as to appear to be what they are not, genuine clients are not experts to pass correct judgements. The moral of the story is that Tripadvisor is not a reliable reference because they do not care to ensure that the comments on their site are reliable. Restaurants and clients should stop using them and encouraging them to line their pockets.

Quince is not often seen but when you do you must try it.

It grows on trees like apples and pears, it even looks like an ugly apple or pear unfortunately if you try and eat it raw you will be disappointed, especially if it not quite ripe. It has a very tough and spongy flesh, difficult to cut up. The interior of a quince is woody, oddly spongy and yet unyielding.

So why bother with such a fruit? The first good thing about quince is the delicate, perfumed fragrance of vanilla, citrus, and apple that it brings in to your kitchen and although it is inedible when raw, it certainly is another story when cooked. Once the quince is cooked, it becomes soft and tender, usually with really lovely syrup derived from the cooking process. You simply stew quince in sugar and a little water, or even better wine, it becomes not just edible but delicious with a delicately pleasing fragrance. Once cooked, quince can be eaten as is or baked into a paste (membrillo) which is excellent with cheese.

32

www.webexpressguide.com

HEALTH & BEAUTY

Moderate drinking is sensible drinking. On this occasion, it may be opportune to mention alcohol. Beware of drinking & driving says Sonia Fendley, director of STM Nummos Life S.L. A drink or two may help you to relax and socialise, it may even do you some good, but regular drinking presents various health risks. Sensible drinking involves knowing what your limits are and being aware of how much you are drinking. It’s important to understand how to drink sensibly to enjoy alcohol in moderation as part of a healthy lifestyle.

women and men’s bodies cope with alcohol. Women are more likely to develop health problems, such as liver disease, at lower levels of alcohol consumption than men. Most of us are familiar with the pleasant glow that follows a couple of drinks. But there are other effects that alcohol has on your body and mind which may surprise you.

The guidelines recommend not drinking regularly more than three or four units a day for men and two or three units a day for women. Although Regularly means every day, it’s a good idea to have at least two alcohol-free days a week. So over a week, men shouldn’t have more than 21 units and women no more than 14 units.

Within minutes of taking your first sip, alcohol enters your bloodstream through your stomach wall and is circulated to every part of your body, including your heart, liver and brain. It acts on nerve cells throughout your body and slows down the speed at which your nerves send messages to each other.

This does not mean you can save up all the allowance for a weekend binge. A drinking binge is generally defined as drinking double the daily recommended units in one session. The recommended limits are lower for women than for men because women have different amounts of fat, muscle and water in their bodies than men. This affects the way

If you have one or two drinks, you may find you become more talkative and feel more cheerful and relaxed. But drink a couple more and you will take longer to react, you may misjudge situations and may also find that you start slurring your speech. Walking and co-ordination may also become more difficult. www.webexpressguide.com

LEGAL

Looking for a divorce in Spain? Do not spy on your partner you can end up in jail. Try it! Look up for “spy partner” in any search engine and you will find hundreds of technical applications and advice on how to invade the privacy of anyone around you. This is something that spouses or pathologically jealous individuals use when they suspect a partner of having an affair. The practise may be reprehensible from an ethical and moral point of view, however if the acquired information is used or divulged to others or indeed used in order to obtain some benefit or cause damage to others it is considered a crime. Spying on a partner by obtaining computer files or mobile phone messages so as to reveal the private secrets of a person is punishable with penalties that may even mean imprisonment. A test case took place in Court Nº4 in Girona 36

www.webexpressguide.com

when a man was sentenced to two and a half years in prison plus a fine of 6 Euros a day for 19 months when he used compromising photographs of his wife and copied her test messages to prove her infidelity in his divorce procedure. This verdict should serve as a warning to anyone who intends to spy on his or her partners’ computer or mobile phone. This type of crime seems to be on the increase due to the development of applications that allow tracking profiles on social networks. Under the present Spanish legal system, the right to privacy is considered to be a fundamental right and it demands maximum protection. This means that any evidence submitted in breach of this fundamental right will be declared invalid followed by the added penalty and punishment of anyone who violates this right. If you spy on your partner you can end up in jail.

THERE IS A WAY TO

STOP

PAIN! Stop pain naturally curing the problem with no medication, no surgery and no other remedies. (information provided by Arthropos)

Nature has gone out of its way to ensure that we experience pain so as to alert us to injury in order that we may protect our bodies from damage in the evolution of self preservation. But what happens when the pain becomes unbearable, when the cause of such pain is derived from a cause that cannot be stopped instantly such as arthritis, lumbar pain or sciatica? The first thing that doctors will recommend is pain killers and anti-inflammatory medications, which alleviate pain for as long as they are used, however they do not cure the cause. When medications fail to allow the body to cure the problem one alternative can be surgery. This is why in recent years patients have been seeking relief and even cure from natural methods such as getting more exercise, massage, herbal supplements, acupuncture and so on depending on the cause of pain. Constant pain and aches can cause stress and make life an absolute misery, unfortunately as we get older the more prone we 38

are to get aches and pains through wear and tear. The answer is simple and it lies in stimulating cellular regeneration to relieve and even cure all symptoms and pains. Treating patients’ with Thermo-Percussion brings relief and even cures in a natural, effective and durable way, safely, without operations or medication. Drugs treat symptoms, but when one stops taking them the pain returns with even more intensity because the root of the problem was not addressed. With the elderly, the degenerative process that caused the problem will continue. Artropos has been in operation for over 20 years. Thermopercussion has been used to treat thousands of patients of all ages and with all types of musculoskeletal disorders.

The treatment is painless and relaxing and it consist of deep thermo-therapy accompanied by a light but vigorous thermo- percussion massage, the combination of these two induces the cellular regeneration of muscle and soft tissue, gradually reducing the pain on a permanent basis while curing the problem. Artropos have recently opened a clinic in Estepona and they are offering a free consultation. Quite frankly it is well worth the effort to visit them. For further information please see the advert

The following are some of the most common afflictions that improve with thermopercussion treatment: Whiplash Sprains & strains Arthritis, Osteoarthritis Cervical ache and Fibromyalgia Lumbar pain, Sciatica, Herniated Discs Sport injuries Recently the Spanish Football team Burgos CF and Servigest Burgos wheelchair basketball team have reached an agreement with Artropos to treat all their players as they maintain that they are now sustaining less injuries and even if they sustain an injury, a faster and full recovery is possible due to the rapid and complete regeneration of soft tissues and muscle. www.webexpressguide.com

HYPERBARIC OXYGEN = QUALITY OF LIFE Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) means placing a patient in a hyperbaric chamber under increased atmospheric pressure so he can breathe 100% oxygen; Under this condition, oxygen becomes a medicament that begins therapeutic treatments on the body. The treatment is particularly recommended for reducing inflammation, generally helping wounds to heal, as well as difficult to heal wounds, like ulcers or diabetic foot. It can prevent the need of amputation. The beneficial effect on post operative recovery, including plastic surgery, is well proven.

It is also recommended for sports injuries, bone fractures, neurological damage, autism, relief from the effects of radiotherapy or burns, and reducing stress and chronic fatigue. It is the greater concentration of oxygen going through the blood that aids the body all-round. The hyperbaric chamber at the Hyperbaric Medical Centre is made of entirely transparent material with room for one person, allowing for direct communication with the medical staff. It is hygienic, comfortable, private and unhurried.

TAX FRAUD but who is the fraudster?

The “star prize legal measures introduced by Mariano Rajoy, supposedly to combat tax fraud could be infringing Community law. (ASESORES LEGALES) The European Commission has launched an infringement procedure against Spain for the new obligation to declare assets abroad when they exceed 50,000 Euros. It is a measure that came into effect for the first time in 2013 and has allowed the Treasury to obtain an unprecedented volume of tax information. Between 2013 and 2015, almost 200,000 taxpayers declared assets abroad amounting to 126,500 million Euros. The European Commission does not dispute that the Spanish government may request the information; however, it is wary of the tough sanctions regime and its conformity with EU regulations. If Hacienda detects 48

www.webexpressguide.com

that a taxpayer has not filed or presented the declaration prior to the deadline, it can account for the assets as capital gain subject to income tax. This means that it is taxed at the top margin of personal income tax, which now stands at 47% and that in recent years has even exceeded 50%. On top of the tax payable, the Treasury also imposes a penalty of 150%. Furthermore the taxpayer cannot claim that the undeclared capital came from an already taxed source. This particular aspect has raised serious criticism from advisors at the time.

This particular aspect, along with the severity of sanctions, has led to the opening of infringement proceedings in Brussels and it represents an initial victory for taxpayers and advisers who denounced Spain to the EU. One such person is Alejandro del Campo, DMS Consulting attorney’s office, stating that the decision of the European Commission is a “formidable argument for the victims of the 720 model who can defend themselves against the brutal sanctions.” For the record, on the 19th November 2015 the European Commission sent a letter to the Spanish Government. Now, the Treasury has two months, often extended, in which to reply with its arguments. Upon failure to produce a “satisfactory answer”, the Commission could issue a reasoned opinion requiring Spain to modify the law. Should this not be done, the conflict would then end up in the Court of Justice of the EU (CJEU). Recently the European Justice forced Spain to modify the inheritance tax for discriminating against non-residents. So far the Spanish government stresses that Brussels does not question the merits of the measure but the penalty system and say that the government announced these measures in the middle of the tax amnesty in order to frighten taxpayers and encourage them to benefit from the process of “extraordinary regularization”. It’s all very well but this excuse seems to contradict the reality when one of the first to be sanctioned was an Andalusian pensioner who had 340,255 Euros abroad and filed out of time. Hacienda imputed the whole amount as undeclared capital gain with unpaid income tax and imposed a penalty of 150% on the income. In total, the Tax Agency now claims 439,268 Euros.

SOCIAL LIFE

I

prickly pair

A world of

fakes!

Faked goods are costing the designer industry some 9 billion every year. Good Heavens! Those lookie-lookie men down the ports must be richer than I thought!

shoes, their Dior glasses with diamonds are definitely a fake.

Some publications give some advice on how to tell it’s a fake. Apparently paying only €10 for a pair of Gucci glasses after bargaining Mr Lookie down from €15 is not enough of a sign that they are fakes. Der!!

Personally I would never buy through eBay. I can’t really knock it but if I was offered an 8 karats diamond ring for €15, my alarm bells would definitely ring; or is it just me?

I also assumed that Victoria Beckham, Ivana Trump, Kate Moss and their type would normally wear the real thing while the cheap, low class old dogs hanging around the ports, drunk, wear the fakes. May be I got it wrong but I don’t think so. Anyway I would assume that if they paid around €12.99 for a pair of 56

www.webexpressguide.com

There was another tip on an article; it said: “Check that the designer jeans are an actual photo of the jeans and not just a photo taken from the designer’s website.”Surely, if I was going to con someone,

the photo I would place on eBay would be the photo of an original, and, after receiving the cash, I would then send out the fakes. It also said that you should check the tag inside the jeans, but what if the con artist also placed a photo of the real designer’s tag on the jeans? Der, again!!

thousands of Euros, so now listen carefully: - why would he sell them for €10? If he could afford to buy original Gucci glasses he would not have to drag around the port all night with all those glasses and certainly not alongside some 15 ebony elephants and an armful of fat ladies’ dresses (one size fits all).

Personally, I would not want to buy a fake, but if it were not for fakes, common women would never get to feel better than they really are. Anyway, if it is really that difficult to spot a fake, does it mean that the fakes are as good as the real thing? If so, why are the real goods so expensive and exquisite if four year olds in China can make them just as good?

But still why stop at fake sunglasses? Why not fake boobs, 3 for the price of 2? Fake nails, fake hair? Oh no, that is not acceptable! Fake pout lips? Why pick on designer goods on eBay?

Let me pass on a tip. If half way through a DVD, bought from the said Mr Lookie man down at the port, you see people’s shadows walking in front of the picture, the chances are it is a fake, as if paying €3 did not already start your alarm bells ringing. And another thing, if Mr Lookie man bought 100 pairs of Gucci sunglasses that would cost him

And what about all the dating sites? “Athletic, good looking, caring man seeks lasting relationship.” Well, come on ladies! Isn’t that the biggest fake going? Or, cuddly, homely mature women? Fake! It really means fat old hag, still not taken, getting desperate. O.N.O. W.A.A. (will accept anybody). So for a bit of advice on Designer Labels; lower your quality, lower your prices and you could be 9 billion better off. If Mr Lookie can do it so can you. Save your fake prices for your fake celebrities. www.webexpressguide.com

VIRTUAL HUMOUR

How on earth can West meet East when there is such a disparity of culture and understanding of values? If the East is so keen to copy what the West does and if it is so keen to send us its goods and to open its shops in the West, surely it should start learning how to spell and mostly how to communicate in the international language. Here is some more counterfeit language to giggle over.

MOTORING

Driving round on a Spanish Roundabout? 62

www.webexpressguide.com

I have driven a car for many years in various parts of Europe and I have found that there is nothing simpler in tackling a two lane roundabout than to keep on the inside lane if you want to go round it and signal out when you want to exit so that any car on the outside lane may allow you to do so. Simple really and quite natural until I came to Spain when a few years ago they changed this and therefore now it is not uncommon to see near misses and perhaps hits, when a car on the inside of the roundabout tries to exit only to have its route blocked by a car travelling all the way round on the outside. This is because now cars on the outside have priority and cars on the inside are not allowed to cut in front of cars on the outside, not even when signalling, so you could spend all day on the inside lane waiting for a chance to exit a roundabout. Who stands to gain here? The grua? The car repair shops? Or is it the ensuing multas? If this isn´t bad enough they are now introducing a new shaped roundabout, the turbo Roundabout. Having seen it all go wrong are they forcing to prove themselves right?
