Have an unmatched capacity of 550Wh and 1100Wh – most of the industry uses 300 to 360Wh. Battery quality is linked to the cells used and also the way it is packed. Using a state-of-the-art battery management system in our packs, each cell is connected to it before delivering the charge. This high-tech design balances the charge between each individual cell and can cut the connection in case of a short circuit. This ensures best possible performance while making the battery safer.

EDITOR PAGE Someone sent me a message saying that the word government is the Latin derivation of gubernare meaning to control. The truth is that it means to pilot, guide, steer, and navigate. Unfortunately it is some politicians that do their utmost to control for their own personal benefit. Although the UK has done its best to ruin completely the tourist season for Spain saying that it’s for the protection of the British population, we are still surviving with the rest of the world and many British tourists who cherish their Spanish holidays. It is all lies upon lies forgetting the larger picture, like the massive unemployment it has created, with the Corona Virus out of control and serious anger from Spanish politicians with regards to Gibraltar. I am but a mere editor with some education, even so it is as plain as daylight the damage that Brexit and the ignorance of the merry men is causing to Britain also overflowing its problems over to the EU. Better days are to come when the voters realize the serious mistakes made.

MUSIC

ROCK ANDALUZ ROCK ANDALUZ

Italian Baked Chicken Recipe

METHOD •

Preheat oven to 220 degrees C.

Pat chicken dry. Place a chicken breast in a large ziptop bag and zip the top (make sure to release any air in the bag first), then place it on your poultry cutting board. Using a meat mallet pound to flatten the chicken. Remove from zip-top bag and reuse bag and mallet to repeat the process with the remaining chicken breast pieces.

24

Season chicken with salt and pepper on both sides and place in a large mixing bowl or dish. Add spices, minced garlic, extra virgin olive oil, and lemon juice. Combine to make sure the chicken is evenly coated with the spices and garlic. In a large lightly oiled baking dish or pan, spread onion slices on the bottom. Arrange seasoned chicken on top, and add the tomatoes. Cover the baking dish tightly with foil and bake for 10 minutes covered, then uncover and bake another 8 to 10 minutes or so. Watch carefully. This can take less or more time depending on the thickness of your chicken breasts. Make sure chicken is cooked through. Remove from heat. Let chicken breasts rest (cover with foil or another pan) for 5 to 10 minutes or so before serving. Uncover and garnish with fresh parsley and basil. www.webexpressguide.com

TRAVEL & TOURISM

Once a liar and a cheat always‌ ‌from the side of the bus till now

26

After some 3 years, my daughter finally managed to make use of the time off work to come and visit us, her parents on the Costa del Sol, for just a couple of days.

returning from Spain. She was concerned at the likelihood of losing her job when getting back to UK for having to stay off work for a further two weeks.

We were getting ready to go and pick her up at the airport when she phoned us from her airport saying that she may have to cancel the flight because the UK was imposing an immediate 14 days quarantine on all

It was a point of no return, a choice between losing her flight and taking a chance on her return. Fortunately her employers were very understanding and confirmed her job was safe.

What a stupid thing to do! At the time there were more than 100,000 UK nationals visiting Spain on their holidays now worrying about their jobs and their business upon their return home. And they say the unemployment figure is growing by the day? But we are also talking of the announcement being made at the end of July, when an estimated two million more people had already booked and paid for their August summer holiday in Spain. It all sounds quite plausible when they say it was done for the safety of the nation to ensure that travellers were clean on their return, in reality it is definitely idiotic when it is the UK that has the greater problem with the corona virus. As the Spanish PM stated it is safer to be in Spain than in the UK. It seems like an attempt to cause deliberate damage to the Spanish economy which depends on tourism, especially when the restriction was imposed to include the Canary Islands (miles away from Spain) but to exclude Gibraltar right next to the Costa del Sol. I think this really goes to show how incompetent is the present UK government, not only have they shown they are incapable of managing the control of their pandemic but they continue causing problems to their own economy with airlines, airport and tour operators pushing a lot further up their own unemployment figures.

What is even more pathetic is that now they blame the corona virus for the and damage to the economy created by Brexit with the massive losses suffered by the value of the pound, companies closing down, foreign manufacturers closing down and moving to the EU. I really fail to see the wisdom in abandoning the largest and most convenient market right on the doorstep to go and look for deals across oceans and continent that serve no real advantages, and possibly even offer disadvantages. It is interesting to learn that the research from the Centre for Competitive Advantage in the Global Economy at Warwick University found that the parts of the UK with high levels of low-skilled and manufacturing employment have underperformed most since 2016. These are the areas that also heavily voted Leave in the EU referendum. It does seem to raise the question about irregularities with the referendum. As an additional note I would like to quote Anna Feuchtwang, the chair of End Child Poverty, who (referring to Boris Johnson) said: - “It is deeply insulting to the children and families swept into poverty, when data about them is used selectively and misleadingly at the whim of politicians. The simple fact is that by any measures child poverty is rising, but instead of tackling the problem, the government risks obscuring the issue and misinforming the public. The Guardian

WHATS NEWS

Did you know that..? World population set to decline. The global population is set to shrink by the year 2100, and nations need to start preparing for the economic implications, according to researchers at the University of Washington. Fertility rates have fallen, thanks in part to women’s greater access to education and contraception, and the researchers’ projection suggests that by 2100 populations in some countries could shrink by more than half. Globally, there would be twice as many people over 80 as under five, posing questions about how countries pay for aging populations, with migration likely to become essential. The Guardian WFH isn’t working for 100m people. Some 100 million workers in 35 countries are more vulnerable to job losses and pay cuts due to the pandemic as it is not possible to remote work in their roles, a recent IMF study found. Women and lowincome employees disproportionately make up a big portion of hard-hit sectors like food service and hospitality, while young workers and those without degrees are also more likely to work in jobs requiring in-person work. This could widen existing inequalities around the world, making more urgent the need to close the digital divide and retrain workers, the IMF warned. New York Times Personal standards slip during lockdown. Suspicion that people are letting some standards slip in lockdown has been confirmed by Unilever: it says worldwide

28

sales of personal grooming products such as shampoo have fallen significantly in the past few weeks, and that it suspects sales of deodorant are going to be lower than normal too. On the other hand, its cleaning products are flying off the shelves. Financial Times The link between COVID-19 and obesity. Government scientists are investigating whether Britain’s high death toll is the result of the obesity crisis after it emerged that the proportion of severely obese patients in intensive care with CV-19 is twice the proportion of servery obese people in the general population. With that in mind, here’s how to work out your BMI. Divide your weight in kilograms by your height (in metres) squared. So if you are 180cm tall and weigh 80kiliograms (like me), your body mass index (BMI) is 80/ (1.80²)=24.7. A healthy BMI is between 18.5 and 24.9; between 25 and 29.9 means you are overweight; 30-39.9 is obese; 40+ is morbidly obese. Editor The key to staying optimistic. Maintaining hope can serve as a powerful antidote to stress during hard times. In addition to showing compassion to ourselves and others and paying attention to everyday activities we enjoy, we must create space for our negative thoughts to fully embrace optimism. Optimism is not about putting our heads in the sand, but finding a way to sit with both the good and the bad. Editor

HEALTH & WELL BEING

THE RATS THAT SAVE LIVES An estimated 15,000 to 20,000 people are killed or maimed by landmines every year. TB claims the lives of 1.5 million people each year.

We are all so preoccupied with our daily problems that we just do not hear or pay attention to the various calamities that affect our human race. Some are natural but many are manmade and administered by the unscrupulous members of our own race. There are still many millions of active landmines in more than 60 countries causing life-threatening accidents. Most of the landmines’ victims are children, for example in Cambodia they account for 50% of the casualties, in Somalia they are state to be 55%. As many as 85% of these children die before reaching a hospital, the rest are maimed, blinded or disfigured. This is where our HeroRats are estimated to have saved the lives of over one million mine explosion casualties last year and another 16,000 TB victims.

HOW? You might ask. Can a rat do this? This is a Gambian pouched rat breed almost 3 feet long from nose to tail, your nightmare come true, but this giant creature has learned to detect landmines by scent. At a minefield, which is full of metal objects, while a human with a metal detector can clear just about 20 square meters a day, a rat can clear 20 times as much, just by detecting the scent of explosives not the metal. The rats, 100% reliable, are paid in bananas, peanuts, avocados and apples, and they don’t need body armour because they’re too light to set off land mines. The aid group “APOPO” was started by a Belgian, Bart Weetjens, a product designer who kept rats as pets and was puzzling about how to improve scent mine detection. The rats, named HeroRats, are trained in Tanzania and deployed as required in various countries. Over 2,060 landmines found and destroyed, over 4.5 million square meters of mine-free land cleared. But it is not just landmines that these rats detect. It takes a trained health worker with a microscope all day to examine about 25 samples of sputum to determine if they are positive for tuberculosis. In contrast, a HeroRat can screen 100 samples in 20 minutes, sniffing a row of samples and pausing when one is positive for tuberculosis. They are much more accurate than a human with a microscope.

The handlers grow attached to the rats and recognize each of them by face Apopo pampers the rats, which get better health care than most Angolans. The rats work only a couple of hours a day (they get hot in midday), and they retire at age 6 when they become less dependable.

The number of tuberculosis patients identified has risen by 48 percent, which means that more patients are diagnosed and treated, preventing the disease’s spread. Last year some 580,534 samples were sniffed resulting in the saving of some 16,000 lives.

So the HeroRats spend their golden years nibbling on avocados and hanging out with their handlers. When the time comes, the handlers lay them to rest in a rodent cemetery, with several people present to pay respects.

KELOIDS OR HYPERTROPHIC SCARS TREATED WITH LATEST LASER TECHNIQUES The main treatments available to us are:

“Treating hypertrophic or keloid scars can be • Cryotherapy challenging for the dermatologist.” • Injection of Intralesional substances into keloids Dr. Marta Frieyro, • Different types of lasers Dermatologist at HC Marbella International Hospital. •

Vascular lasers or light devices

The following is an example of treatment of one of these scars:

1. To locate the hypertrophic scar in the early stages using light devices to close the vessels. 2. Next would be to freeze the lesion with cryotherapy. This is very important in the active phases of these scars. 3. The following step would be the injection of intralesional substances such as 5-fluorouracil into the scar so as to lreduce its activity. After several sessions with light devices, cryotherapy, 5-fluorouracil injections, we would then manage to make the scar lose its activity and then carry out the treatment with the latest in fractional lasers (Frax 1550) for several sessions to achieve its aesthetic improvement. Currently we know that the earlier the treatment of scars is carried out, the better will be the cosmetic result and, at HC Hospitales, we have the best possible devices to achieve improvement in the shortest possible time.

WHATS NEWS TRAVEL & TOURISM

What’s to come after Brexit is still to be discovered by those who voted for it. According to a survey carried out by the FT the areas economically worst hit by the corona virus, are mostly the areas that voted in favour of Brexit. What’s to come after Brexit is still to be discovered by those who voted for it. According to a survey carried out by the FT the areas economically worst hit by the corona virus, are mostly the areas that voted in favour of Brexit. One thing is certain, no truth was ever written on that bus and the whole process to date from that day onwards is an accumulation of lies, false promises followed by the inability to run a government efficiently. I think that the price for backing Brexit will really start to hit home when British nationals realise what the “New Rules” for travelling mean when they take effect. This will become not just obvious but also felt when they start planning for their annual “sacred” holiday abroad.

38

www.webexpressguide.com

Have a taste of it for yourself and visit the official government website https://www.gov. uk/transition and see what you have to do after the transition period ending 31st December this year, and read between the lines. The first problem to overcome will be your European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) which will be no longer valid anywhere in the EU. Instead you will need to rely on your own private health insurance which may or may not be valid abroad or your travel insurance which, in the majority of cases will not allow pre-existing health conditions. Failing this be prepared with a hefty sum of emergency cash in your pocket. Having got your new “Blue” passport (made in Poland), you start to realise that you can no longer travel freely into Europe or within Europe. The EU border control may well be your first bucket of cold water poured over your head. What the full extent of the control might be is yet not known but you will almost certainly be asked to produce a return ticked and proof that you have enough money with you to pay for your stay.

ENTERTAINMENT

If you plan to take your pet with you, the present pet passport will no longer be valid. You will instead have the need to follow the process to get the right papers which can take four months to do. And, you may also need an acceptable international driving licence and appropriate car insurance if you are planning to drive in the EU. Forget free roaming in the EU with your mobile, EU law can no longer force UK mobile providers to allow you to use your UK minutes abroad. Your cost of a call back home will be another of those higher costs you could avoid before. And what about UK custom duty? Will you still be able to bring your free booze & tobacco with you? At what cost? That is the obvious just to cross the Channel, less obvious is the fact that UK citizens will no longer have the right to live or work in the EU. Any imports and exports to and from the EU will require an enormous amount of paper work just like importing or exporting to and from those wonderful non EU, distant countries that the British government is trying to make deals with.

Enjoy you stay in the EU while you can but please have some respect for the present anti-corona virus measures of safety imposed by the individual EU countries. It is not your personal freedom of choice that is being denied, wearing the masks in the protection of the country’s residents from the virus that you may be carrying with you from the UK, where it is far from under control especially when your own government officials make the law and flaunt it in public. Having considered the large number of visitors to Spain, not just from the UK, who continue ignoring the fact that they MUST wear masks at all times, except under certain circumstances, the mayor of Malaga, Francisco de la Torre, has asked the Andalucian Parliament to introduce PCR testing for tourists arriving at the Costa del Sol. It is hoped that this will reduce the number of imported cases. We have gone through months of hardships and too much of a loss of lives, we certainly do not want to go through it again, especially if it brought in from the outside. On the other hand, you can always join the large number of ex-patriates living in Spain, which makes all British nationals welcome to stay, live here and work as residents. All you need to do is to register as a resident provided you do so before Brexit.

PETS

Should you take your dog out for a walk in summer? Fresh air and exercise is important, but routines should be adjusted to suit outside conditions, and how your pet responds to the heat.

Once you surpass 32 degrees, heat stroke is a major risk. Pay close attention to how your pet is coping, and provide it with ways to stay cool.

Heat can be hazardous for people and animals, heatstroke, sun burn and dehydration can severely harm dogs, even being fatal in some cases. Hay fever is also a concern at this time of year, affecting about 10% of the canine population.

When it comes to heatstroke, note the following symptoms as signs of danger:

Walks in hot weather are generally safe but take care if it’s over 20 C Temperatures above 24 degrees can be high risk for dogs who are large, obese, flat-faced or very young. At 28 degrees is dangerous for all dogs, and potentially life-threatening for the aforementioned categories.

Heavy panting Glazed eyes Rapid pulse Excessive salivation Lack of coordination Vomiting or diarrhoea

If your dog is suffering from many of these symptoms, you should act fast to cool your pet, for example with wet towels, ice cubes and drinking water.

HEALTH

How clean is that can of drink? Whether it is a hot day, a party or any celebration, the first thing a person does is to drink a can of ‘soft’ drink or a beer. It may well be the most refreshing thing to do but what you do not know is where that can has been before reaching the mouth. The cans, in which the drink is kept, after going through a manufacturing process that resulted in packaging cans in cases, are then stored in a warehouse waiting to be delivered to a distributor. Once an order is received, the corresponding number of cases is loaded on a lorry and sent to the distributor who will also store the drinks in his warehouse waiting for orders. Finally the bar, restaurant or shop having placed their orders will receive their deliveries which might be kept in storage or even in the yard outside until needed by the consumer. It is a long process of deliveries and storages from the time the drink is sealed in the can and opened by the consumer. The drink is fine but where has the can been? Is the can top crusted with rat’s urine?

Dried rat urine can lead to a bacterial zoonotic disease commonly known as Weil’s syndrome. This became evident when, following the death of a woman in Belgium, the investigation revealed that the top of the can of her drink was contaminated with dried rat’s urine which is toxic and lethal. Prevention is largely dependent on sanitation and avoiding direct and indirect human contact with animal urine. There has been a rise in soft drink consumption, due to the various attractive advertisements shown by soft drink manufacturers to lure people that is why awareness is the best defence. “It is better to be safe than sorry”, wash all the canned beverages before consuming them just as you wash your vegetables and fruits.

THE BEST CONSUMERS’ MARKET ON THE COSTA is the middle represented by high level consumers who need to know you

To be known on the Costa you need to advertise your message all the time because PEOPLE COME AND PEOPLE GO CONSTANTLY Too many social media pages with announcements of short duration are time consuming for limited exposure.

Unless you can afford to advertise on National Radio and Television Channels your audience is limited to a few locals and only sometimes.

Unless you are as well known as Johnnie Walker or Pepsi Cola driving past large signs on the roads is not the answer.

Too many cheap publications promoting illegal businesses, leaflets and means to save money cannot have the desired effect on the desired market.

PRINTING IS YOUR BEST ANSWER BUT... Newspapers are expensive, they are not designed to target/reach your desired consumer, they do not represent the quality of your business and they mix your business with too many others including competitors.

Quality, expensive looking magazines are a good option but the cost is high and they do not justify the return.
