Just a few weeks ago people were doubting that the summer weather would actually arrive. “This is the coldest summer in 100 years” they were saying, well it’s nothing of the kind. The sun came out as punctual as ever and there is even a heat wave in other parts of Europe. Let’s make the most of it before the autumn and winter are upon us again. Unfortunately, it would seem that the trading season has again been reduced to the summer months and holidays, when people visit the Costa for holidays and breaks, but prefer the residence of their own country. It would have been so much more pleasant and intelligent if it were less obvious that longer term visitors get ripped off. The UK is made ridicule of for taking from the standard of living of workers to make the layabouts’ standard of living better than the workers’, while Spain just takes from everyone for the private benefit of politicians and figure heads. What crisis? Happy days! ¿Crisis? ¿Qué crisis? Happy days!

Did you know that..? A collection of useless but interesting facts for after dinner conversation in Andalucia

Singapore residents are the most downbeat in the world, according to a global poll. Residents from 148 countries were asked five questions about whether they were happy. Just 46% of Singaporeans said yes to all five. Top of the list were Panama and Paraguay, with 85%; the UK was on a par with Belgium on 77%. Daily Mail Gordon Brown was exposed as one of Britain’s least enthusiastic MPs. The former PM has taken part in only three commons debates since losing the election in 2010. He has declared 28 overseas trips since November last year. Guardian Google is catching up with Apple in terms of downloads of software applications. Last month, Apple announced its 50 billionth download on the same day as Google hit 48 billion. The data do not differentiate between paid-for and free apps. The Observer

Dogs are meant to be for life, not just for Christmas – but some owners don’t see it that way. The Dogs Trust charity reports that dogs have been given away this year for failing to perform tricks, not matching the sofa, not looking like their picture online and smelling too much like a dog. Daily Express Just 10 per cent of people manage to keep their New Year’s resolutions for at least six months, according to new research. Just under half break their resolutions within a fortnight, blaming a lack of will power. 55 per cent of us have made New Year’s resolutions in the past, but just 23 per cent have made some resolutions for 2013. Mail Betty Harris of Sydney left her neighbours £8m when she died. The neighbours had helped her with chores such as buying milk and taking out the rubbish. Her relatives, who said she was deluded when she wrote her will, failed to get the legacy legally overturned as they hadn’t spoken to her in 13 years. Times Mixed-race Britons are among the nation’s fastestgrowing ethnic-minority groups with at least 1m people now born to parents from different ethnicities. The findings coincide with new polling that reveals only 15% of people feel uncomfortable about interracial marriages. Twenty years ago, 40% of Britons expressed concerns about such relationships. Sunday Times

Net migration to Britain has fallen almost a quarter, from 242,000 in the 12 months to March 2011, to 183,000 in the year to March 2012. The main factors behind the fall were stricter rules on student visas, and more people leaving the country to work abroad. Independent 8

Possibly the most notable event on the Costa dels Sol is the

Feria de Malaga

This is a major fiesta that attracts visitors from all over the world as it combines the traditional grand local fair with the commemoration of the taking of the city from the Moors by the Catholic Monarchs on the 18th August 1487. It is also the longest lasting fair which this year will run “officially from the 17th August to the 24th, but you will see the activities starting as early as the 11th August.

10

www.webexpressguide.com

The fair today has two entertainment zones. The main one is the Real de la Feria in the Cortijo de Torres district, active in the evening for the “Feria de la noche” (“Night Fair”). Separately, in the historic centre of the city, is the “Feria de día” (“Day Fair”): by day, the city centre swarms with people, in part because the festival coincides with the enormous summer influx of holiday makers to the Costa del Sol.

During the Fair, the streets of the city centre are adorned with paper lanterns and floral displays. Booths are set up, there are performances for children and adults, music and dance (especially verdiales, the most characteristic local variant of flamenco), and decked out horses and carriages attempting to make their way through it all. The sounds of flamenco and copla are everywhere, along with less traditional music.

There is bullfighting each afternoon at La Malagueta, and after sunset the fair continues at the Real. The city’s public transit network is considerably reorganized during the fair, including the addition of several special buses to the fair districts from various parts of town.

IN MY OPINION

Behaviour breeds

Behaviour I have recently been back to England to see my family and enjoy a well deserved short break. It was a while since I last had the opportunity to get away. I am glad I did so because when I got there I realized that I had almost forgotten how well mannered and polite people are in England. I mean they are so well mannered that you feel obliged to respond the same way and say “Thank you, you have been most kind” and actually mean it. It felt like they could not do enough for you. Of course I realise that shop assistants have to be polite and caring with all possible clients, however for the short time they attend to you, they do mean it. What a refreshing difference! By contrast, here I usually get the feeling that I am a nuisance, interrupting whatever they may be doing. You walk into a shop or even a bar and get ignored until the attendant has finished dusting or other similar silly task. What about that never ending conversation with someone who just walked in to deliver a letter or say hello? Has this happened to 12

www.webexpressguide.com

you? Have you ever felt more invisible? Or unwanted? Even on the roads in England I noticed that drivers have the decency of moving over to another lane to give you the chance to join the faster road. They are considered and let you in or out of traffic, it is so refreshing to be able to be just as considered in return. I know that queues were invented in England; the public in general is most patient. No one will ever attempt to interrupt or jump in between you and the attendant, they will patiently wait until it is their time to receive the full attention they expect. I think this is called politeness and due consideration towards other people. “Tranquilo!!” They say here in Spain, when you lose your temper for having your conversation rudely interrupted by some a... hole (here I go; making me swear again!), who turned up from nowhere to jump the queue with the excuse that he or she is asking something terribly urgent and, before you know it, you are swept aside waiting to be served.

IN MY OPINION

I have never known before the feeling of being a nuisance or an intrusion, I always thought that clients are important and need to be encouraged to come again, especially during these difficult times. Fancy opening the shops when they feel like it, and closing them the same way and not answering the phone; then they complain that business is bad while blaming the crisis and their adverts for not working. And what about some good manners on the road? Overtaking on the wrong side, cutting up after overtaking as well as on roundabouts, not signalling, pulling out without looking, blocking the road to have a conversation through the window with a friend and this is to name a few. Unfortunately it’s not just the Spanish, it would seem that even some of the English seem to get their chip damaged here in Spain and behave just the same way. I wonder if it is something in the Andalucian air that affects people’s brains this way. I know they say that you do “in Rome as the Romans do”, but I thought that good education should prevail. The other difference I noticed is to do with parking. Despite the incredible amount of vehicles in the villages and towns in England, you will find a suitable parking place even if you have to pay a nominal amount of money. It is so orderly! Even residents living in highly populated areas have parking priority in their own streets although this may be limited during night hours. When you get home from work, tired and hungry, you just want to park your car and not have to struggle to find a parking place miles away!

is so short sighted! Not only it is unfair for the residents who already pay for using the local roads and other council taxes, it also discourages people from visiting or living in the area. While most of Spain, and especially Andalucia, depends on foreign visitors and residents to provide income, they do not seem to realize that the choice of where to go with just as much sun and even cheaper prices is much greater today than it’s ever been. You can’t take your pick and many are doing just that! The crisis? If shops were better controlled to make sure they own up to their responsibility and stay open when they are supposed might also help to encourage more business. There seems to be a new trend for shops to close on Fridays after lunch. Have you noticed? Provide adequate parking facilities, either free or paying, and people will find the reason to visit and spend money in shops and restaurants. Why should they struggle for a spot to park and even get fined when they have the choice to go elsewhere? No wonder the crisis is worse in Spain and especially in certain specific areas. Complaints seem to fall on deaf ears. What an attitude!

The local authotitirs here seem to think that the fewer are the parking spaces the greater is the scope for the more “multas” to can cash in. This www.webexpressguide.com

Wish you were here. Costa del Sol still is still one of the best holiday options available.

Despite the crisis and the property scandals Spain still retains its holiday appeal with all the Northern Hemisphere European countries and in particular Britain. I wonder how many still remember Freddie Laker back in the late 60s. His value for money chartered flights and package tours were a major contributor to making Spain one of the cheapest holiday resorts to aim for. The Costas were one of the favourites; it was the cheap holiday in the sun that most people could afford. Unfortunately in some ways this has created a stigma for Spain and the mental association between cheap holidays and Spain is deeply rooted. While it is true to say that the cheap holiday packages still continue, the popularity of Andalucia and in particular the Costa del Sol did reach extraordinary proportions. It is understandable when you consider that the temperature rarely drops below 18ºC, meaning that it will always be warmer than other places at the same time of year, the summer sunshine is guaranteed and the resorts within the Costa del Sol cover 150 kms. of coast line, with long stretches of sand leading into the warm Mediterranean Sea. Beautiful beaches with safe bathing for families with small children, water sports with varying degrees of excitement for the adults, magnificent golf courses, superb shopping and a vibrant nightlife, it is no surprise that so many people holiday here. The difference now is that the Costa del Sol, though cheap by comparison to other country’s resorts, it is not the cheapest in Spain, especially at peak times. The rapid growth of cheap airlines competing for business continues to make Spain one of the best holiday options available and of course it is within easy reach of home. It is perhaps regrettable though that the sheer volume of tourism has grossly contributed to the loss of exclusivity that the Costa del Sol, centred on Marbella and Puerto Banus, used to enjoy. 16

www.webexpressguide.com

cover feature

It is perhaps lamentable that during the past few years the Costa del Sol has lost a lot of its attraction for the celebrity culture and the rich and famous, nevertheless its infrastructure is still inviting to the better and more affluent type of tourist, especially in centres like Marbella, Puerto Banus and Sotogrande. Sun and beaches are not the only attractions, the night life on Costa del Sol is amazingly diverse and you can do anything from having a romantic meal in one of the many high quality restaurants to dancing into the early hours of the morning at a local disco. There’s plenty to see on Costa del Sol, even outside the busy summer period, and if you’re looking for a cheaper holiday then you’ll want to visit in May or October for the best deals. The climate makes the Costa del Sol an attractive proposition all year round, not forgetting that although golf courses in Andalucia can be played all year round, spring, autumn and winter offer a more favourable climate and some very special deals. Do remember that if you travel just a short way inland, you will find the small towns and villages, often built on the sides of hills, are in complete contrast to the coastal strip. The whitewashed and the colourful houses, with their tiled red roofs, nestle together along narrow winding streets. In the hills, the opportunities available for a wonderful country holiday are, among others, hiking, rock climbing, horseback riding, bird watching and hang gliding. The popular image of Spain as a land of bullfights, flamenco, sherry and ruined castles derives from Andalucía, which is the southernmost territory and the most quintessentially Spanish part of the Iberian Peninsula. Above all, it is the great Moorish monuments that compete for your attention here. The Moors, a mixed race of Berbers and Arabs who crossed into Spain from Morocco and North Africa, occupied alAndalus for over seven centuries. Their first forces landed at Tarifa in 710 AD, and within four years they had conquered virtually the entire country; their last kingdom, Granada, fell to the Christian Re-conquest in 1492. Between these dates, they developed the most sophisticated civilization of the Middle Ages, centered in turn on the three major cities of Córdoba, Seville and Granada. www.webexpressguide.com

17

In addition the Costa del Sol is host to many music, dance and theatre festivals particularly through the summer months. Flamenco dancing is especially popular as it is the traditional dance of the gypsies of Andalusia. Bull fighting remains part of Spanish culture and the Costa del Sol has its share of bull rings, even though the spectacle is no longer so popular among tourists. One of the spectacles not to be missed is the Dancing Horses at the ‘Escuela de Arte Ecuestre’ Costa Del Sol Based in Estepona, this is one of the best equestrian centres in Europe. For those who enjoy equestrian sports and spectacle then these shows are not to be missed. The Costa del Sol offers a diverse and eclectic nightlife from lovely quiet wine venues to modern chic cafes, trendy bars, and vibrant discos and night clubs. Do remember though not to start too early! The idea is to eat late, and party even later. All musical tastes are catered for, if you look closely enough, ranging from chill-out vibes to harder pumping house music. Whatever floats your boat, you are sure to find it on the Costa del Sol in Andalucia. Where else in the world would you find all this just a short flight away from home? 18

LIBEL ACTIONS

Is Tripadvisor being sued by more people they can afford to compensate? Defamation is a very serious criminal offence and it is not as difficult to sue someone for damages caused by it as you might have been led to believe. For a start, you cannot rely on your qualifications as a consumer to criticise a business with your opinion. To be a believable critic you need to prove that you are qualified to make the criticism, you cannot express your opinion based on a single personal experience even if that single experience is true it does not reflect over the entire business. So how much worse can it be when the statements are false? Search Google for ‘Tripadvisor legal action’ and see for yourself what’s happening everywhere. Even in the USA they have changed the law to ease the course of action for defamation. Check the following websites they may be of help to you if you have a case for defamation against Tripadvisor or even others. 26

www.webexpressguide.com

http://tripadvisor-warning.com/ http://tripadvisor-defamation.com/ By the same token, comments praising a particular business may also be false; they could have been placed there by the business itself, friends or others in exchange for a free meal or accommodation. The sad part about this is that Tripadvisor has had too much money to create a web market that is denying appearance on searches to other bona fide companies that deserve it. All I can say is that restaurants and hotels should discourage this website and request their entries to be removed. And yes, individual persons cannot hide behind the website with the pretext that they have been encouraged to express their experience. Their experience can actually cost unjustified serious losses to the company concerned which is certainly able to sue for damages, especially if it can be proven that the information was deliberately malicious.

This month we are pleased to inform you that the recipe and photo have been provided by Simon Taylor-Lane, Head Chef at Cocomo restaurant

COCOMO

Cocktail Bar & Restaurant

BBQ Mackerel with celeriac Mayonnaise Cooking mackerel on the barbecue will give the fish a divine smoky taste. Serve with the creamy celeriac mayonnaise to temper the intense flavour of the fish

Ingredients •

4 medium sized mackerel fillets, pin boned

1 small celeriac

200ml mayonnaise

4 slices Serrano/Parma ham cut in 2 cm ribbons

Little lemon juice

Pickle (100ml white wine vinegar,

400ml olive oil, pinch sugar, salt) Wholegrain mustard

Nice selection of organic young salad leaves

Preparation:

1. Peel the celeriac, turn on a Japanese mandolin or julienne by hand, salt for 1-2 hours, this will draw out some of the water. 2. Squeeze the celeriac in a clean cloth, bind with mayonnaise and season with the mustard, some lemon juice, a touch of vinegar and salt and pepper as necessary. 3. Season the mackerel fillets with salt on both sides and pepper on skin side only. Douse liberally with the pickle and gently warm on the bottom of a grill. 4. Spread some of the remoulade on four plates, arrange the parma ham around and finish the plates with the salad herbs. 5. When the fish is gently warmed but still pink, blow torch the skin side until beautifully chard and crispy. Place on top of the remoulade. 6. Dress the salad on the plates with a little of the pickling liquor

Has summer finally arrived?

You need to prepare for it! How to prepare you good looks for the summer, say the Prickly Pair It looks like summer may really be on its in, say July, we shall emerge for summer way after so many false starts, but can you looking just like the models portrayed? be sure? It that’s the case then, first on the list should Well, for starters just look at the local surely be a fake tan. Apparently you step publications packed from front to back with into a cubicle and are sprayed all over with a beautiful, tanned, slim, twenty something tanning solution. Well let’s hope the cubicle models gracing the pages dressed from top has the properties of Dr Who’s Tardis for to toe in gorgeous summer clothes made by some of the unfortunate 20 something stone ladies I have seen gracing the streets top fashion houses from around the world. this winter and that the spray equipment Does this mean that we really believe all we resembles the equipment used on protesters. need to do is to take a few steps now so that Ladies please note that the booth is not to 32

be confused with Mr Ben’s changing room; you will not be coming out as something completely different, you will still be fat, but browner. Next must surely be the hair, a golden sun streaked mass rolling provocatively down your shoulders, kept off your face by, not a hair band or even a primary hair accessory, (a scrunchy) but quite simply a pair of enormous diamante encrusted designer glasses. Of course for this part of your makeover the key issue is hair, you must have at least a decent handful otherwise no top class hair salon will be able to help (think Elton John). This means that, with cr-p hair, best forget the glasses considering they are apparently only there to hold up the tumbling mass of hair and add one more expensive designer label somewhere. Still for a cheaper version why not see Mr Lookey man down at the port.

What you should understand about beauty is if you are of a certain age and size and have never been a “looker” anyway, forget it. As beauty, if not natural, means a full time job and a very rich husband. Mentioning husbands, why is it that all these so called beautiful women have such ugly husbands, usually fat? Oh, go on ladies! You know it’s true! Say it! Yes, because they are rich! But when the trophy wife can no longer stay the right size and colour and starts to look mankey, no doubt the husband will buy a newer model. Unless they have beauty and brains (the brain part to siphon off a good size pension). I think I’ll stay as I am and not as an old Bette Davies look alike but without the money.

Moving on to the clothes, there’s not much to mention here! Look at the models used in the magazines; see that bikini with matching jewel encrusted thong? Yes? Well you would not see it on you, if you know what I mean. Remember what looks good on a size 10 would not quite look the same on a size 20 plus.

Insect bites and stings

Insect bites or stings usually cause no more than a small irritation, but for some this can lead to more serious allergic reactions. By Sonia Fendlay Director - STM Nummos Life It important to be aware of the possible risks when travelling to some countries, your GP can give you up-to-date advice about appropriate preventive treatments..

Symptoms of bites and stings In most people, an insect bite will clear up in a few days. The same is true of insect stings. Sometimes a bite or sting can lead to complications such as an allergic reaction or infection and, to a few people, they will cause a more dangerous allergic reaction called anaphylaxis.

Infection Bites and stings can become infected with bacteria and the area around the bite or sting becoming more red and sore, pus may build up. This may make you feel unwell with flulike symptoms and swollen glands and a red line coming from the bite may appear, going towards your armpit or groin. This is caused by inflammation in your lymphatic system and is known as tracking.

Allergic reaction

Treatment for bites and stings Urgent medical attention is needed for anyone who: shows signs of having a severe allergic reaction (anaphylaxis), has been stung by several insects at the same time, has been stung in the mouth or throat, where the swelling can interfere with breathing. Cream or ointment containing hydrocortisone can help reduce swelling and inflammation. Over-the-counter painkillers such as paracetamol can relieve some discomfort. If the lump or itchiness spreads beyond the original site, antihistamine tablets can relieve the symptoms. Prescribed antibiotic lotions or cream relieve the more serious discomfort. A course of oral antibiotics may be required for a more severe infection. Ask your GP or pharmacist for advice and read the patient information leaflet that comes with your medicine.

The allergic reaction is usually localised around the area of the bite or sting and clear up after a few days. However, some people can develop anaphylaxis, or anaphylactic shock. This is a rare but potentially fatal condition. Symptoms of anaphylaxis can include:

How to protect yourself

Dizziness, a rapid pulse, a sudden drop in blood pressure, swelling of the airways and throat, making it difficult to breathe, itching and swelling away from the area where the bite or sting is.

Stings are typically painful and cause swelling, but aren’t usually dangerous unless you’re severely allergic to the venom. Remove any sting. You can reduce your risk of insect bites and stings by wearing insect repellent, by sleeping under a suitable net, wearing long sleeves and trousers and keeping foods covered as much as possible.

If you have had a serious allergic reaction before, your GP may prescribe a dose of 34

adrenaline to carry with you. In an emergency, adrenaline should be given within minutes if severe symptoms develop. As a precaution, it’s wise to wear a medical identification bracelet or tag.

www.webexpressguide.com

Try not to scratch insect bites as this can make the symptoms worse. Wash the affected area with soap and water and pat the skin dry, a cold water compress can relieve the pain.

HEALTH & BEAUTY

Decisions, Decisions! What shall I wear? What makeup can I use in these hot summer days? By Marbella Beauty Academy All these decisions to be made and a busy day ahead. Well here are a few tips and tricks to help you along and make life just that little bit easier. Firstly when applying your makeup try facing the cool air of your air conditioner or fan. This will keep your skin cool to the touch and give you the benefit. This way, there is no sweat or redness to battle with even before stepping outside to face the heat. If you are going to blow dry your hair then the trick is to do this the night before and then re-style in the morning. Using a cool setting on the blow dryer will help if you feel that you have to blow dry in the morning. Cooler air will help set your hairs cuticle and also feel a bit like a personal fan. Another good trick is to store your cosmetic products in the fridge for a while before using them. Cool down your base, liquid foundation and moisturizer before applying. This will not only feel good but will help to reduce any inflammation. One word of warning though, do check the formula: Refrigerating certain cosmetics can turn the consistency a little wonky although some other products may have a longer shelf life

because of the chill. If you are going to the beach or for an outside adventure embracing the summer air, then it can be a good idea to skip a base makeup entirely and just stick to concealer. You can cover up any blemishes, spots and shadows with concealer that way you will not have any worry about blotting away any makeup along with shine. Also a slightly tacky stick concealer tends to stay put longer than a liquid one.

Now how about that outfit Now that you have freshened your makeup, here are a few useful tips on how to easily detox and freshen your wardrobe as well. Summer is here and it is time to rid ourselves of some of those old faithful outfits. If you have not worn it for two years then seriously consider throwing it out. Also any ‘posh frocks’ evening wear and wedding attire should be stored in a separate wardrobe or closet away from everyday clothes. If any item is too small, then the best thing to do is get rid of it, it will only remind you of the extra weight you have gained, also if you have www.webexpressguide.com

HEALTH & BEAUTY

managed to loose weight then new outfits will certainly make you feel good. Never keep mistakes! If you have never worn it for any reason then perhaps it is time to sell on to a friend or donate it to a charity shop. It is sometimes possible to change the outfit by dyeing or redesigning it in some way of course but if you still have not worn it after a month then out it goes. Remember also that as we get older then our decisions with regard to fashion must take into consideration our age.

A few things to remember. When buying clothes and makeup it is important to shop for the whole rather than the individual. Think ‘outfits’ not just individual items. If you are shopping for something to go with something else you already have it is a good idea to take the other item with you when shopping for that last thing to make the outfit complete. Always check your look in a full length mirror and if you have not got one then get one as soon a possible. It can be a girl’s best friend.

The Kill Room Jeffery Deaver

A sniper’s bullet abruptly ends the life of Robert Moreno, a US citizen living in South America. Everything suggests a highly expensive contract killing (the sniper’s bullet was shot from over a mile away) and the dead man appears to be something other than an innocent victim. There is evidence which points to Moreno planning a terrorist atrocity, an assault on a US oil company headquarters. He has verbally attacked the US and its influence throughout the world. His death may have been sanctioned in the highest echelons of American government but whoever killed Moreno is unlikely to remain hidden in the shadows for long. Assigned to the case is America’s most successful forensics expert and investigator, the formidable Lincoln Rhyme, with his resourceful associate Amelia Sachs. While Amelia looks into the murdered man’s behaviour in Manhattan, Rhyme travels to the Bahamas where the killing took place. 42

Spanish Fashion You may have noticed that the Spanish Fashion industry has recently taken the world by storm. All over Spain one can find the most attractive and stylish people who carry themselves with the utmost poise and panache. It is because of this that most of the leading fashion houses have now set up business in this fashionable Mediterranean country. Fashion is a very important part of the culture of Spain. Whether it is the formal suits and elegantly cut tuxedos or be it the slightly unconventional and experimental rainproof ponchos, balloon silhouettes and the fashionable checked and striped sweaters, Spanish men have an amazing choice of options when it comes to smart dressing. Women too have a plethora of fashion choices and can collect a haute-couture of some very stylish clothes in bold and dashing prints that are well cut with fine lines and silhouettes that accentuate the figure. There is also an amazing choice of jewelry and fashion accessories for women and men, making it so easy to add the final touches to that special outfit. 44

HoroscopeS Your future as foretold by the Sabinillas gipsy CANCER

(June 22-July 22)

This month there is a need to protect and self-invest possibly through broadening your horizons. A classic way is to do this is through property by creating more ‘room in the nest’. Another possibility is through self-investment and launching an enterprise.

LEO

(July 23-August 22)

In the last days of the month asset management grows in importance. Given that a large investment around your birthday is highly likely, knowing the bottom line of where you are now could matter greatly. Pay attention to information freely given around this month.

VIRGO

(August 23-September 22)

An encounter that could only really be described as fortunate, may be the driving factor in opening up a career path that until now has only been wishful thinking. Whether or not you can follow through will surely depend on the support you receive at home and from those who want you to succeed.

LIBRA

(September 23-October 22)

There is a possibility that you could move a rung up your professional ladder and yes, this should bring financial reward. Mars’ arrival in another of the Air signs (Gemini) early in the month, suggests financial in-flow will be connected to places of higher education or to overseas contacts.

SCORPIO (October 23-November 21)

There is likely to be a financial shift for many. It’s probable that Scorpios will tune into this change-about this month by taking even more interest in prices, estimates and through the use of comparison websites.

SAGITTARIUS

(November 22 - December 21)

There will be pressure to make a financial decision (very likely property-related) which will be very important. It’s not that you don’t see merit in purchasing an item: you just need to be reassured that the value placed on this thing is correct.

48

www.webexpressguide.com

CAPRICORN

(December 22 - January 19)

Expect to have plenty to do and to be rushed off your feet. As important are conversations with close colleagues as to the best environment from which you should work. It may be that you want to work from home or re-decorate your work space to suit your business.

AQUARIUS ( January 20-February 18)

Be prepared for numerous short journeys as you embark on a fact-gathering mission. True, the cost of travel might also dominate thinking: perhaps linked to an idea of spending some days away from home (not necessarily holiday-related).

PISCES

(February 19 – March 20)

This month there might be urgent need for asset management. Perhaps checking all your insurances are adequate would be wise. There might, in fact, be pressing need for this as it relates to transport. It may be that there are better ‘twin deal’ policies to be had.

ARIES

(March 21-April 19)

As we know, first come the dreams and then the reality. Financially then, the priority this month seems to be self-investment. A further - but outside possibility - is assisting a relative (with educational fees?). This too could be a sound plan though it would surely be wise to go over all the details.

TAURUS

(April 20-May 20)

As you may know, Gemini occupies one of the ‘financial’ areas of your solar chart. This is the area where your ability to buy and sell comes to the fore. This month you could enjoy moments of bargaining and haggling especially during the first half of the month.

GEMINI

(May 21-June 21)

It’s very likely that this month will bring a financial turning point. From the beginning it may be apparent that you need to budget more carefully and that investments need to focus more on what are deemed essentials.

THIS MONTH’S RECOMMENDED CAR

Mercedes-Benz SL The Mercedes-Benz SL has been synonymous with glamour through its 59-year history. This is the important version of the latest, sixth-generation Mercedes SL, the model most buyers choose. This SL’s long, jutting bonnet shields a 3.5 litres V6 engine of 302bhp and the 350 can still spear 99.8 kph in a swift-enough-for-most 5.9 seconds.
