Although the idea was copied, we still maintained a map within the magazine because it promoted and generated business from outside the immediate area, still at silly prices. Now we see that even the local council has copied the idea of selling advertising on a map and even displays it on a large sign in the street. In view of this we decided to put our pages to better use and do away with the map altogether. At the same time, we have now added smaller individual advert opportunities for those businesses that still want to be promoted by a well established magazine and portal of the Costa del Sol & Gibraltar.

editor page It would seem that this year is a year that marks changes in the air. It seems very likely that at the next general elections there will be a change in government in Spain or for certain a radical change of party policies as a result of the rising “Podemos” party. Amongst the many complaints, people have had enough of lining the pockets of those in charge and banks. I doubt it though that the same people will be re-elected. I hope that events will make the difference that we all need and wish for. Parece que este año se huelen los cambios en el aire. Es muy probable que en las próximas elecciones generales haya un cambio de gobierno en España y seguramente un cambio radical, como consecuencia del creciente partido “Podemos”. Entre las muchas quejas, la gente esta harta de que se llenen los bolsillos los responsables y de los bancos. Dudo que el partido popular sea reelegido. Espero que los acontecimientos marquen un diferencia que todos necesitamos y deseamos. Кажется, этот год знаменует собой изменения. Весьма вероятно, что в ближайшие всеобщие выборы произойдёт смена правительства в Испании, либо определённые радикальные изменения партийной политики в результате набирающей силу партии “Podemos”. Люди устали от набивающих себе карманы банков и тех, кто стоит у власти. Я сомневаюсь, что те же самые люди будут переизбраны. Do as I say and not as I do

I believe that one of the greatest problems in today’s society is hypocrisy. Why can´t everyone just be honest and put right so many wrongs?

There are several different definitions of hypocrisy; the dictionary defines a hypocrite as someone who “pretends to be better than he really is or to be pious, virtuous without really being so.” I have a much simpler definition for a hypocrite: a two faced son of a gun (to be polite). As piety and virtues are some of the main qualities behind which hypocrites hide, let’s start with the problem of paedophilia that has reached ever increasing momentum in the news in respect of the Church, Catholic and others. For instance, Pope Francis has stated that, according to reliable data, 2 per cent of clergy are paedophiles, which includes priests, 12

bishops and even cardinals. My question is why did we have to wait this long before an open admission is finally made? And now that the cat is out of the bag, what is being done about it? Many survivors of abuse by priests are angry at what they see as failure to punish senior officials who have been accused of covering up scandals. If it’s ok for the clergy then how ok is it for everyone else? Talk of double standards! To be seen going to church on Sunday yet, once out of the door, get back to living the regular life. Yet another recent example of religious hypocrisy is committed when according to Vatican City Associated Press, Pope Francis called for governments to redistribute wealth to the poor in a new spirit of generosity to help curb the “economy of exclusion” that is taking hold today. The appeal was made during a speech to U.N. Secretary-General Ban KiMoon and the heads of major U.N. agencies.

Vanilla and gingerbread cheesecakes Ingredients • 50g/2oz readymade gingerbread, sliced • 450g/1lb cream cheese • 250g/9oz caster sugar • 250g/9oz crème fraîche • 475ml/17fl oz double cream • 2 vanilla pods seeds scraped out For the strawberries • 200g/7oz strawberries • 2 tsp caster sugar • 2 tsp balsamic vinegar

Use ready-m ade ginger for these individual ch cake as a base e with straw berries infu esecakes topped sed in bals vinegar. amic

Preparation method 1.Place the gingerbread onto a tray and leave out overnight to dry.

and leave at room temperature for five minutes.

2.When dry and hard, place into a food processor and pulse until fine crumbs are formed. Set to one side.

7.Place the ginger crumbs onto a plate and carefully pick up the chefs’ rings and dip each end of the cheesecake into the ginger crumbs.

3.Place the cream cheese, caster sugar, crème fraîche, double cream and vanilla seeds into a large bowl. I have become famous, collectable, and lucky and I have a good P.R.! Then I wake up. The reoccurring comment you hear associated with this kind of art is: “What do

you think the artist is saying?” The truth is he is saying: “Good job no-one has caught on yet. The fact is I can’t really paint any decent pictures”. And what about the people who buy these paintings for millions? There’s not much to say, I mean that literally, art-wise. These are people who would buy any Warhol vomit on canvas for 100 million pounds if Andy Warhol’s agent, for instance, said that in that picture Andy Warhol was showing us his inner turmoil.

Us, normal people, would choke laughing, but your rich, abstract buyer would say: “Wow! Wrap it up, here take my million. Thank you for giving me a personal viewing before the auction.” While the agent clutches this hands and probably replies: “Well, you are our most special client”. Now, I am guessing, the special super rich buyer probably has many more arse licking friends. Step forward the one who says: “You paid how much for this vomit canvas?” I bet no-one, in fact everybody probably praises the buyer for his keen eye for art, and so the farce continues. Don’t think this happens only in paintings. Let’s talk contemporary poetry, wait a second, let me look in Google. Yes, here we are, it’s called “A sort of a song” “Let the snake wait under his weed and the writing be of words, slow and quick, sharp to strike, quiet to wait, sleepless…” Ending with “Saxifrage is my flower that splits the rocks” What the heck is this crap? Again, if you can’t actually write good old fashioned poetry why write this kind of contemporary shit? Hey, I am sure many will say: “Wow! How true, how deep! Yeah, right, so deep it has no meaning. Or perhaps you have to be soooo

clever and deep to understand it? Certainly NOT, everybody should get it, that is the point. I mean what would a mother’s day card be in the hands of one of these deep poets? All about suckling breasts and, milk of life? The fallopian tube of life? That would scare the living daylights out most 5 year olds. On the one hand we had Amy Winehouse, a brilliant talented singer who died. Her songs, her voice, her music were all good. Then on the other hand, you have Lady Ga-Ga who brings out a couple of catchy songs followed by a load of trash and still expects people to buy. Let’s not mention how she dresses, she looks like an explosion in a transvestite clothing warehouse. Let’s make up a word:”Truthique” a mix of true and critique. При ввозе товаров в Испанию из стран, не входящих в ЕС, ввозная пошлина и другие налоги, такие как НДС (исп. «IVA»), рассчитываемые по значению CIF (страховка и транспорт), подлежат к оплате до отправки товаров в пункт назначения. Это относится ко всем предприятиям или отдельным лицам. Ставка пошлины зависит от вида товара и страны, откуда они происходят, поэтому важно установить реальный размер пошлины. Ставка IVA в Испании составляет 21% (может быть снижена до 10% или до 4% для некоторых малочисленных товаров). Ставка рассчитывается от общей стоимости включая и размер пошлины. Пошлина не взимается в случае если стоимость товаров, за исключением стоимости доставки и страховки, не превышает €150. Что касается стран Европейского Союза, бизнес, зарегистрированный в Испании, имеет право на свободный экспорт и импорт товаров в пределах ЕС. После того как товар был ввезён на территорию ЕС, он может быть свободно транспортирован по всему ЕС, даже если был произведён за пределами ЕС. Хотя пошлина при торговом обмене между странами ЕС отсутствует, текущая ставка IVA, установленная страной конечного назначения (в данном случае Испанией), всё равно подлежит к уплате. Запреты или ограничения могут быть также установлены на экспорт, импорт или на товары в транзите, если суть данных товаров противоречит общественным интересам, морали, общественной безопасности, защите жизни и здоровья людей, животных или растений, либо охране окружающей среды. Предприятие, зарегистрированное на территории ЕС, не должно взимать НДС/ IVA на товары, которые оно отправляет в Испанию при условии наличия документального подтверждения по факту экспорта. Оно также обязано получить регистрационный номер IVA испанского клиента и указывать его на счетах. В этом случае IVA уплачивается импортирующей стороной. В случае, когда испанский клиент отдельное лицо, незарегистрированное в качестве плательщика IVA, предприятиеэкспортёр из страны ЕС должно взимать IVA/НДС. I really do not get this one. Because Spain has changed its copyright law, Spanish news media now demand Google to pay for providing news in Spain with the result that Google told them where to get off and, quite so, stopped providing news in Spain altogether. My question is since when are news subject to copyright? They are not the result of intellectual or artistic creativity; news information does not belong to anyone, it is just reporting news and information. In my opinion this infringes on the freedom of the press. Ask Reuters! By the same token, if this is the law in Spain does it mean that foreign media can now sue the Spanish media for producing news they published? Does it mean that Sur in English can sue the Euroweekly and vice versa? Surely you can’t have it one way and not the other, can you? Can Spanish Newspapers take legal action against Spanish TV programs? Is this another scam to get money for nothing from foreign organisations?

IS COPYING FLATTERY? They say that copying is a form of flattery! If this is the case then we must thank the Euroweekly for copying our “DO YOU GET IT?” idea which we have been publishing in print and online since 2011. Is this not an infringement of Spanish Copyright law? What about the other (unmentioned) publications that copy the designs of our published adverts? Should we sue them or thank them for their lack of imagination?
