One thing is certain out of all this; the Costa del Sol is still one of the best choices available for an enjoyable summer holiday with lots of sunshine, vino and paella. The foreign residents of the Costa, once the schools close for summer, as usual have gone away on their holidays visiting their families abroad, perhaps they might have been better off enjoying their vacations right here! Well perhaps they needed cooling off a bit; this summer seems to exceed the usual heat levels even on the coastline. Health & Beauty Muchas cosas han pasado desde la última edición y nada bueno. Primero fue el Brexit, a continuación, Niza y luego de nuevo Turquía. ¿Cuándo terminaran estas locuras? Una cosa es verdad; la Costa del Sol sigue siendo una de las mejores opciones disponibles para disfrutar de las vacaciones de verano con mucho sol, vino y paella. A costly nuisance Enjough is enough! I am delighted to learn that National Police officers in Valencia have made a huge seizure of counterfeit goods smuggled into the country from China. One of the most notorious international counterfeiters of high street clothing brands has also been apprehended in Benahavis by the Guardia Civil. Similar events have been taking place in Marbella and Puerto Banus. These “Looky, Looky” people selling fakes 8

& copies of known brands cost millions to companies that spend fortunes promoting their branded products, what is more damaging is that they are robbing trade from local busnesses who pay rent, taxes and high prices for their products. Still worse they are a nuisance when approaching people eating at restaurants or just enjoying Andalucia. This is not part of the Andalucia ambiance and it is not doing much good to tourism. Hopefully something more positive will be done in other areas of the Costa especially in Manilva where there seems to be an excessive number of such peddlers.

Can I seek asylum in Europe?
ÂżPuedo solicitar asilo en Europa? David Cameron assumed the referendum would confirm Britain in the EU. So did everyone else it would appear. In reality the result was quite different, perhaps he should have chosen another moment; he was wrong and he resigned. The aggressive and false campaign mounted by the opposition was not expected. Nigel Farage, Boris Johnson and Michael Gove, each with the intention to pave his way to Downing Street, found no shame in stooping as low as lying in order to achieve the objective.
Unfortunately they succeeded, even though they may have imagined they would not and, within a few hours, the pound dropped to its lowest levels in 30 years, the country’s credit rating was ruined, millions were wiped off the value of shares, while Scotland was given more ammunition to break away from the UK. Sneeky Michael Gove stooped even lower and stabbed Boris in the back; Nigel and Boris at least had the decency to resign. If this is politics in the interest of the nation and its people, I think I prefer the jungle. Once again Britain made itself the laughing www.webexpressguide.com

A new PM has been elected, Theresa May, a woman with a hell of a job to sort out, not just financially and politically but also racially as more than 3,000 hate crimes and incidents were reported to police from 16-30 June alone, thanks to Mr Farage. Trying to negotiate terms with the EU after the resentment created by the arrogance of the act itself and the insolence of Farrage in Brussels would not seem to be an available option. In my opinion the simplest way to resolve the situation is for the next Prime Minister to have the courage to admit it was all a mistake caused by a false information given to the public and either call for a new referendum under the present true light or decide that it requires a parliamentary decision in the interest of the nation and finish with this farce. Who the hell wants to go through the suspense of two years of negotiations’? What for? There is no doubt that we need a United Europe! The U.S.A is an example of what can be achieved; it’s the most powerful nation in the world, so why should it not work for us in Europe? Are we all so short sighted that we cannot see past our own imaginary little borders? Scotland wants to be independent, so do Wales and even N. Ireland and now the UK from Europe. What is this? A British sickness? What happened to all for one and one for all? We are breaking up and weakening, I am not against the idea of a United Europe as described by Angela Merkel who seems inspired by the USA. Britain needs to stop living in the long gone past; immigration and refugees are a problem common to all of Europe, a problem that needs to be solved with some urgency but certainly not by abandoning ship. what rats do. The U.S.A., Russia, China…, Europe need unity to make front to all adversities including the Middle Eastern. As a British national residing in Spain, I feel I should apply for asylum to any of the E.U. countries that will have me, after all my passport does say that I am a European Citizen. parlamentaria en el interés de la nación y no una pública y terminar con esta farsa. ¿Quién diablos quiere pasar por dos años de negociaciones ? ¿Para qué? No hay duda de que necesitamos una Europa unida! El U.S.A. es un ejemplo de lo que se puede lograr, es la nación más poderosa del mundo. ¿Porque no puedes funcionar en Europa? ¿Estamos todos tan miopes que no podemos ver más allá de nuestras pequeñas fronteras imaginarias? Escocia quiere ser independiente, también Gales e incluso Irlanda del Norte y ahora el Reino Unido con Europa. ¿Qué es esto? Una enfermedad británica? ¿Qué pasó con todos para uno y uno para todos? Nos estamos rompiendo y debilitando. Estoy a favor de la idea de una Europa unida como describe Angela Merkel, que parece inspirada en EE.UU. La Gran Bretaña necesita dejar de vivir en el pasado; la inmigración y los refugiados representan un problema común en toda Europa un problema que necesita ser resuelto con cierta urgencia, y no se hace abandonando el barco. Eso es lo que suelen hacer las ratas. U.S.A., Rusia, China ..., Europa necesita la unidad para hacer frente a todas las adversidades, incluyendo Oriente Medio. Como británico residente en España, siento que debería solicitar asilo a cualquiera de los países E.U que accepten, después de todo, mi pasaporte dice que soy un ciudadano europeo.

This month the Chef at KOKOMO recommends a delicious
Roast asparagus, ham & poached egg salad Method • Prepare a large bowl of ice water. • Fill the pasta pot with 3 quarts of water and bring it to a rolling boil over high heat. Add the coarse salt and the asparagus. Blanch, uncovered, until crisp-tender, about 3 minutes. Immediately drain the water from the asparagus in a colander. Plunge the asparagus into the ice water to cool down as quickly as possible and retain their crispness and bright green colour. Drain the asparagus and wrap it in a thick kitchen towel to dry. (Do not cook the asparagus in advance or it will lose its crispness.)
Ingredients • 3 tablespoons coarse sea salt • 16 green asparagus spears (1 pound), trimmed • 4 ultra-fresh large eggs • 1 tablespoon distilled vinegar • 4 cups torn soft greens, such as butter crunch lettuce • 1/4 cup minced fresh chives • Lemon and Olive Oil Dressing • 4 thin slices top-quality ham • Fine sea salt • Coarse, freshly ground black pepper • Toast, for serving 14

• Break each egg into a ramekin or small cup. Set aside. In a large, shallow saucepan, bring 2 inches of water to a boil. Add the vinegar. One by one, bring the edge of a ramekin or cup level with the surface of the water and slide the egg in gently. Turn off the heat and cover the pan. Poach the eggs until the whites are firm but the yolks still runny and covered with a thin, translucent layer of white, about 3 minutes. • With a sieve or slotted spoon, carefully lift the eggs from the water and transfer them to several thicknesses of paper towels. • Place the salad greens and chives in a large salad bowl. Toss with just enough dressing to coat the greens lightly and evenly. • Place the asparagus on a large plate and add just enough dressing to lightly coat the spears. Roll the asparagus in the dressing. • Arrange the dressed greens at one side of each of 4 large dinner plates. Carefully place a poached egg alongside. Arrange 4 asparagus spears next to the eggs. Carefully drape a slice of ham over each of the poached eggs. Season the greens lightly with fine sea salt and generously with pepper. Sprinkle with chives. Serve with the toast.

Choosing the right coach can make a huge impact on performance and level of enjoyment while playing. Our primary focus with Instruction is to ensure that our clients are understanding concepts while finding their optimum swing. One swing does not fit all, and it is our mission to find the right swing for each client. At the Golf Performance Center we believe that our method is the most effective way to put our clients in a position to have lasting results. It is a method that benefits players at any level, from beginners to higher standards and results can be seen right from the first lesson. With each lesson within our premises all data is collected by our launch monitor. This data is compiled into a comprehensive report which includes all the essential ball and club statistics. The report is sent via e-mail to each client in an easy to read PDF file. In addition to the launch monitor e-mail, we compose an e-mail with our notes from each lesson. It is extremely important for the client to be able to refer back to these e-mails so they can always have a clear idea of what they should be working on while practicing independently. Having data and notes will help to chart progress of each client as they are working towards improvement. It holds us, as teachers, accountable by having numerical 26

data so ensure that each client is improving. We also encourage golfers of any level to watch our video series. All aspects of golf are addressed in a series of short, easy to understand, and fun videos. These videos are free and can provide a baseline of information that can improve overall golf knowledge. Some topics that we cover include: - Swing Mechanics, Equipment, Etiquette, Ball Flight Laws, Biomechanics, Course Management, and Short Game. The Golf Performance Center believes that golf should be a sport for everybody, not just for the wealthy. It is useful to know who your guide is. In the fiirst instance there is Mike, he teaches all aspects of golf, but specializes in working with players who have limited mobility. As an accomplished player who suffers from limited mobility himself, Mike has become an expert on teaching players to reach their potential despite physical limitations. Mike is certified through TPI, Titleist Performacne Institute, to administer mobility examinations. Sixteen assessments are used to determine mobility in the ankles, hips, low back, thoracic spine, wrists, and neck. In addition to his TPI, Mike is also certified through K-Vest. This equipment is used to collect biomechanics data including hip turn, shoulder turn, stability, and the kinematic sequence. Physical limitations are generally the root cause of swing characteristics. Understanding the 28

causes and effects of mobility to golf swing puts Mike in a position to be able to understand, measure, and explain the issues that are specific to each client. This expertise and equipment allows each client to understand exactly where their limitations are, to what extent, and how to work around them. The core of his methodology is education. Currently, what percentages of women / couples have trouble having children? Recent statistics estimate that the percentage of couples having trouble to conceive is around 15%, this means that the general population in Spain would result in 600-700.000 infertile couples, either primary - those who never had children - or secondary infertility - couples who already have at least one child, but are unable to conceive again. What exactly is infertility, what are the problems and what are the most common?
Currently assisted reproduction is a subject much discussed in our society and especially by those who have had or have fertility problems.

The definition of infertility varies between different cultures, countries and scientific societies, for simplicity and for our location, we shall use those issued by the Spanish Fertility Society (SEF), who have 2 different concepts, depending on the main problem:

Primary Sterility: Never had a pregnancy Secondary Sterility: Already have one or more child, but unable to conceive again.

The risks are low but after 6 unsuccessful attempts it should not be repeated. Artificial Insemination • With partner’s sperm • Donated semen In vitro fertilization with or without intracytoplasmic sperm injection (IVFICSI). This is the technique mostly used today, with a success rate of 40-45% per attempt. Egg Donation: This technique is associated with a higher success rate, up to 60% per attempt. Pre implantation Genetic Diagnosis PGD: This technique is complementary to IVF, and used to identify the genetically healthy embryos by analyzing one of their cells, only the healthy embryos are to be used. This is perhaps the most innovative technique today.
How important is psychology, stress, etc. during these treatments? Infertility: Inability to produce a live birth, i.e. Repeated miscarriages. The causes for infertility are multiple and complex, in general we can say that the following are the main statistics: 1. Only affects women in 30% of cases 2. Mixed etiology 20%** 3. Unknown etiology 20%** What techniques are used, their advantages and risks? The techniques used vary depending on the cause (etiology) of infertility and very briefly are: •
Ovulation Induction: This is the simplest. A useful technique in cases of minor problems with ovulation.
It is very important that the couples understand perfectly the treatment procedure, its benefits and risks to give them less psychological stress; if they still manifest clear symptoms of anxiety, they should be referred to a specialist in psychology to be counseled and helped throughout the process making it a positive experience. En cambio... ¡Si hubieran podido verme! ¡Si hubieran podido ver con qué habilidad procedí! ¡Con qué cuidado... con qué previsión... con qué disimulo me puse a la obra! Jamás fui más amable con el viejo que la semana antes de matarlo. Todas las noches, hacia las doce, hacía yo girar el picaporte de su puerta y la abría... ¡oh, tan suavemente! Y entonces, cuando la abertura era lo bastante grande para pasar la cabeza, levantaba una linterna sorda, cerrada, completamente cerrada, de manera que no se viera ninguna luz, y tras ella pasaba la cabeza. ¡Oh, ustedes se hubieran reído al ver cuán astutamente pasaba la cabeza! La movía lentamente... muy, muy lentamente, a fin de no perturbar el sueño del viejo. Me llevaba una hora entera introducir completamente la cabeza por la abertura de la puerta, hasta verlo tendido en su cama. ¿Eh? ¿Es que un loco hubiera sido tan prudente como yo? Y esto lo hice durante siete largas noches... cada noche, a las doce... pero siempre encontré el ojo cerrado, y por eso me era imposible cumplir mi obra, porque no era el viejo quien me irritaba, sino el mal de ojo. Y por la mañana, apenas iniciado el día, entraba sin miedo en su habitación y le hablaba resueltamente, llamándolo por su nombre con voz cordial y preguntándole cómo había pasado la noche. Ya ven ustedes que tendría que haber sido un viejo muy astuto para sospechar que todas las noches, justamente a las doce, iba yo a mirarlo mientras dormía. Al llegar la octava noche, procedí con mayor cautela que de costumbre al abrir la puerta. El minutero de un reloj se mueve con más rapidez de lo que se movía mi mano. Jamás, antes de aquella noche, había sentido el alcance de mis facultades, de mi sagacidad. Apenas lograba contener mi impresión de triunfo. ¡Pensar que estaba ahí, abriendo poco a poco la puerta, y que él ni siquiera soñaba con mis secretas intenciones o pensamientos! Me reí entre dientes ante esta idea, y quizá me oyó, porque lo sentí moverse repentinamente en la cama, como si se sobresaltara. Ustedes pensarán que me eché hacia atrás... pero no. Su cuarto estaba tan negro como la pez, ya que el viejo cerraba completamente las persianas por miedo a los ladrones; yo sabía que le era imposible distinguir la abertura de la puerta, y seguí empujando suavemente, suavemente. Había ya pasado la cabeza y me disponía a abrir la linterna, cuando mi pulgar resbaló en el cierre metálico y el viejo se enderezó en el lecho, gritando:
-¿Quién está ahí? Permanecí inmóvil, sin decir palabra. Durante una hora entera no moví un solo músculo, y en todo ese tiempo no oí que volviera a tenderse en la cama. Seguía sentado, escuchando... tal como yo lo había hecho, noche tras noche, mientras escuchaba en la pared los taladros cuyo sonido anuncia la muerte. Oí de pronto un leve quejido, y supe que era el quejido que nace del terror. No expresaba dolor o pena... ¡oh, no! Era el ahogado sonido que brota del fondo del alma cuando el espanto la sobrecoge. Bien conocía yo ese sonido. Muchas noches, justamente a las doce, cuando el mundo entero dormía, surgió de mi pecho, ahondando con su espantoso eco los terrores que me enloquecían. Repito que lo conocía bien. Comprendí lo que estaba sintiendo el viejo y le tuve lástima, aunque me reía en el fondo de mi corazón. Comprendí que había estado despierto desde el primer leve ruido, cuando se movió en la cama. Había tratado de decirse que aquel ruido no era nada, pero sin conseguirlo. Pensaba: “No es más que el viento en la chimenea... o un grillo que chirrió una sola vez”. Sí, había tratado de darse ánimo con esas suposiciones, pero todo era en vano. Todo era en vano, porque la Muerte se había aproximado a él, deslizándose furtiva, y envolvía a su víctima. Y la fúnebre influencia de aquella sombra imperceptible era la que lo movía a sentir -aunque no podía verla ni oírla-, a sentir la presencia de mi cabeza dentro de la habitación. Después de haber esperado largo tiempo, con toda paciencia, sin oír que volviera a acostarse, resolví abrir una pequeña, una pequeñísima ranura en la linterna. (Continuara en la próxima edición)

Income Tax on Rent Revenues Non-residents who obtain incomes by means of the rental of a property in Spain must file the Non-resident Income Tax Return. It is common belief that non-resident have no tax obligations in Spain because they “pay their tax for their worldwide income back home”. Whereas it is quite true that one has to pay tax for worldwide incomes in the country in which one resides, in some cases, such as when the income derives from a property located in other country, the liability incurs in that country but it may then be deducted from the tax liability in one’s own country of residence. There are treaties to avoid double taxation between all countries in the EU. In practice, if you have a property in Spain and pay your worldwide tax in another EU country you first will have to declare and pay for your income in Spain and later report this payment in your usual annual tax return so that it may be deducted from it.

In Spain, non resident owners of properties must file their tax for rental income quarterly, that is in April, July, Oct and January in respect of business in the previous three months. The tax has to be filed individually by every co-owner of the property. This includes husband and wife if the property is owned by a married couple.
How much tax? The Amount of tax is a percentage of the balance after deducting allowable expenses. In 2016 the tax rate percentage is 19%. You can estimate your tax liability using the online tool on the Limit Consulting webpage. The tool also allows you to submit your figures to us if you choose to use our services.
What expenses can I offset against my rental incomes? 1) Ordinary and necessary. You can deduct any expense that is necessary to generate the income.
Notice: If the property is offered for rental only during part of the year and the rest of the year is given to other use, some expenses such as the utility bills may be attributed to the rental only in the proportion that it has been used to that end. 2) There must be a proper invoice as a documented proof backing the expense, containing all the required information. Notice: However genuine the expense may be the tax authorities in Spain will not allow it unless it is properly documented on an invoice.
Examples of common expenses. Purchase of necessary utensils, furniture, etc… Maintenance and repairs. Services and Utilities: water, electric, cleaning, etc… as long as they are paid by the owner. The local town halls own the cemeteries and anyone can be buried there, whatever their religion; however you may prefer a different cemetery such as the International Cemetery in Benalmádena. In any event the burial ceremony can be performed in any religious denomination or non-denominational. Pre-arranging with a Spanish funeral director will give the peace of mind one needs to enjoy retirement fully and what would be even more sensible is to subscribe to a prepayment scheme such as the one offered by Francisco Camero, which is a one off payment plan, or by instalments, at a cost fixed on the day of the arrangement with no further increments at later dates.

cheap is the health value?
Always looking for cheaper and cheaper products to attract sales. Now they also cheat us with what we eat.
Shops and supermarket especially are supposed to clearly show where their products come from and what their composition is. But do they? A number of products intended for human consumption are imported in large bulk from China because of their cheapness. The importers resell these to suppliers of food who pack these, often under their own brand, and sell to supermarkets and shops for us to consume and sometimes get poisoned. Watch out for cod and trilapia fish. There are no real health controls in China where the waters are over polluted. Trilapia fish is a bottom feeder, feeding on heaven knows what. China uses harmful pesticides on their food, so make sure where your apple juice comes from. The same goes for mushrooms. Garlic? Yes even garlic the pesticides used for this (mainly methyl bromide) it is just not safe and should be avoided. You can tell Chinese garlic because it is distinctively pure white. China is commonly plagued with avian flu and other food borne illnesses so watch out for poultry. The list is incredible, what is more incredible is the amount imported by the U.S.A. There is rice actually made of potato and resin; black pepper from mud; salt produced for industrial purposes, fake peas created with snow peas, soy beans, along with green dye and sodium metabisulfite (a chemical that is used as the bleach and as a preservative suspected to give cancer). Some supermarket state, in small print, where the actual content comes from, but watch out for food packaged by someone in a country outside China. Does it state the country of origin of the actual product?
