FREE BALLS!! TAPAS WITH EVERY DRINK! DANGEROUS
It is one thing trying to stop cars mounting the pavements or parking on zebra crossings, but more consideration should be given to the overall road users when placing these solid iron ball barriers.
Here above is a photo showing two such balls right in front of a zebra crossing. This is where, while watching for traffic, I have personally tripped over the ball and fell straight on my face. My shoulder still hurts from the fall. It even makes a mockery of the ramp intended for wheel chairs. And here below is another example of misplaced balls. When you sit in the car ready to move off, you do not expect a ball
to be in your way. Sitting in the car you cannot normally see it. From the scrape marks on the balls you can see how many cars have gone over them causing damage to the vehicle.
Bodeguita
Hierbabuena It always used to be this way and this very typical Spanish custom is still practiced in other parts of Spain except on the Costa because of tourism. Thankfully the custom is back at the new Bodeguita Hierbabuena in Estepona. This is where you will get a free tapa of your choice with every drink and enjoy a very typical Spanish ambiance. The jamon, manchego cheese, chorizos, and various other free tapas with every drink at same prices as elsewhere make this little bar a highly recommendable. It is in Calle Real 52, a pedestrian only street which makes it even more characteristic.

ONE FARSE
AFTER
ANOTHER Are we still the American lapdog? If only Theresa May used her persistence and arduous efforts to maintain membership of the E.U. and to argue better conditions for the U.K.’s position, not only would it solve a lot of problems but it would ensure the continued success of a strong market and a United Europe. I believe that we must not ever lose vision of the fact that the world is divided by 4 great powers and nations: U.S.A. – Russia – China – Europe. Anyone else falling outside that division is just a small fly into the ointment that can easily be dealt without batting eyelid, say for example North Korea and Iran. This I believe is the direction the United Kingdom is taking, at par with the rest of the world, outside Europe. So what does the present U.K. government decide to do? We have seen the pound fall every time T. May opens her mouth, we have seen the value of shares hit their lowest levesl, we are seeing the threat of substantial foreign companies leaving the U.K. to move to Europe, we can see the financial strength shifting from London to Europe, we have seen the reluctance of E.U. companies to give any concessions to the U.K. and in the meantime we are bamboozled into believing 14
www.webexpressguide.com
that the economy is better now than before Brexit. Of course it gives the appearance to be better, when consumers are thrown into panic buying in fear of substantial imminent price increases after Brexit! A deal with the U.S.A. will never be enough to replace the market loss represented by the E.U. market. That is if a deal can be reached; did not Trump say he would make a deal after and not before Brexit? What kind of irresponsible P.M. would rely on these words given the volatility of the man and the evident differences that exist? Of course there are substantial differences for Britain to have to disagree with Trump when British M.P.s like Zahawi may be banned from the U.S.A. What about the Mayor of London? Is he banned too; and all other UK “bona Fide” Muslim citizens? Is it not false and two-faced not to disagree with Trump at a public press conference? What makes Teresa May believe that Trump will make a deal after Brexit? Basing the future economy of the United Kingdom on a “passing comment” is irresponsible in my book. To say that Brexit would be achieved even ignoring Parliament’s rejection to the issue of Art. 50, not only is illegal but totally irresponsible. Parliament was elected and trusted to decide in the best interests of the people it represents. As far as I can see T. May was never elected in the first place. I thought that my forefathers fought a war to protect us from tyranny and dictatorships; we just cannot allow it to take place. Of course the U.S.A. welcomes Brexit, it suits them to weaken and break up the European Union. It undoubtedly also suits Russia and China. What is happening? Is the greed for personal ambition taking over common sense?
We hope to reach again a Europe United but purged of the slavery of ancient, classical time - a Europe in which men will be proud to say “I am a European”. We hope to see a Europe where men of every country will think as much of being a European as of belonging to their native land, and that without losing any part of their love and loyalty to their birthplace. We hope wherever they go in this wide domain, to which we set no limits in the European continent, they will truly feel “Here I am at home. I am a citizien os this country too” Winston Churchill Amsterdam 9th May 1948

Did you know that..? Women spend ‘three months of life’ preparing for Christmas. Every year, British women spend 33 hours each preparing for Christmas – amounting to three months over the course of a lifetime. This is about a third more than the average man, according to the study commissioned by Scottish Widows. In total, the value of the time spent by women on festive efforts amounts to about £20,000, using the ONS unpaid work calculator. Daily Mail Social media ‘fuelling rise in self-harm in children’. The NSPCC has warned social media is making UK children unhappy and fuelling an increase in self-harm. In 20152016, 14% more 11 to 18-year olds were admitted to hospital in England and Wales after harming themselves than in the previous year. The NSPCC says it took 50 calls a day from self-harmers last year. Daily Mail Our days are getting two milliseconds longer. Scientists say the slowing rotation of Earth means a day is getting two milliseconds longer each century and will last for 25 hours in two million centuries’ time. LOVE IS IN THE AIR!
....or is it?
February 14th is when lovers exchange gifts in the name of St. Valentine, but what has a saint got to do with a pagan celebration?
Al Capone chose the 14th of February 1929 to carry out the famous Saint Valentine’s Day Massacre. It was certainly not an expression of love.

* The Romans had celebrated a pagan festival in mid February commemorating a young man’s rite of passage to the god Lupercus.
The history of St Valentine’s Day and its patron saint is shrouded in mystery, but we do know that February has long been a month of romance. St. Valentine’s Day contains vestiges of both Christian and Roman traditions. For eight hundred years prior to the establishment of St Valentine’s Day, the Romans had celebrated a pagan festival in mid February commemorating a young man’s rite of passage to the god Lupercus. The celebration featured a lottery in which young men would draw the names of teenage girls from a box. The girl assigned to each young man in that manner, would become his sexual companion for that year. In an effort to turn people away from the old pagan rites Pope Gelasius ordered a change in the rules of the Lottery and instead of the names of maidens the names of saints were substituted, women were allowed to enter the draw as well as men and the object was 30

to emulate the ways of the selected saint throughout the year. To re place a pagan god, the church looked for a suitable patron saint of love to take his place and found appropriate Valentine, who in AD 270 had been beheaded by Emperor Claudius II. One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. Emperor at that time, Claudius II decreed that single men made better warriors and with this thinking, outlawed marriage for young men. The injustice of this ruling forced Valentine to go against his emperor and perform marriages in secret for young soldiers and their sweethearts. The inevitable outcome was discovery and sentence to death. According to another legend St Valentine sent the first Valentine Card, the story goes that whilst in prison Valentine fell in love with a young girl, thought to be the jailer’s

seventeenth century, although by the middle of the eighteenth century it had become common for people of all social classes to send some small token of affection to a loved one.
The truth or otherwise of the many legends surrounding this enigmatic Saint have faded into insignificance when e *St.Val ntine compared to the need for a recognized symbol of love and a yearly excuse for lovers to express their feelings for each other. In 1835 the remains, or what are believed to be the remains of St Valentine were given to an Irish priest named father John Spratt by Pope Gregory XVI, after Spratt impressed the pope with his passionate preaching during a visit to Rome. The gift, in a black and gold casket, can still be viewed every St Valentine’s Day, at the Whitefriars church in Dublin. The first true valentine card was sent by Charles Duke of Orleans to his wife in 1514, whilst he was imprisoned in the Tower of London. In England Valentine’s Day didn’t become popular until around the
These gifts would usually take the form of a hand written note, in which the recipient would be assured of the sincerest intentions of the sender. By the end of the century printed cards began to appear, due to the enormous advances in printing at that time. Readymade cards were an easy way for people to express their emotions at a time when strict moral standards made any form of affection difficult. Today, somewhere in the region of 4 billion Dollars is spent on Valentine cards and associated gifts every year, proving that romance is still very much alive.
So I leave you with the words of Shakespeare; who, after all puts it better than anyone: Sonnet 18 “Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?” *The first true valentine card

HEALTH & BEAUTY
This could be the solution that helps you bear your ILLNESS We are talking about complementary medicine, a set of practices that supplement conventional medicine, and that can help alleviate the side effects of your illness.
Complementary medicine can be applied to rheumatic diseases, fibromyalgia, cardiovascular diseases, urological, gynaecological, oncological, even to fertility processes.

We want to emphasize that it is complementary to conventional medicine, it must never replace it though its positive effects are evident, especially in respect of the side effects caused by cancer treatments (radiotherapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy). At HC Marbella International Hospital we help patients to achieve the highest quality of life possible and to prevent them from making the mistake of looking for types of alternative medicine treatments that do not have any scientifically proven benefits. Complementary Medicine, coordinated by a doctor who controls and coordinates according to your needs is the most advisable practice. The following are the most frequent questions asked about the use of complementary medicine:
When is it advisable to use Complementary Medicine? At any time, complementary medicine has many uses adaptable to different pathological situations.
Are there any specific treatments recommended for certain illnesses? The positive effects have been shown in: Acupuncture: to treat nausea and vomiting after chemotherapy, against leucopoenia (decreased number of leukocytes in the blood) - with 1st levels of evidence - and to control pain. Mindfulllnes: to reduce stress, anxiety and depression. There are numerous studies in breast cancer. Physiotherapy: to decrease anxiety, and pain, in particular after radiotherapy. Yoga: To relieve pains and chronic diseases such as Parkinson’s, multiple sclerosis, respiratory diseases, etc. Nutrition and Psychology are undoubtedly health aids, but each case needs to be personalized. Although each patient is treated individually according to the response, it can be checked this with our Complementary Medicine Unit.
Should it be my doctor to send me to this Unit? Medical supervision is important as it is worth bearing in mind that plants and “natural products contain active ingredients that can interact positively (but also negatively) with traditional pharmacological treatments.

Breastfeeding is important, wherever you are Extract from Bupa Global health advice provided by Sonia Fendley of STM Nummos Life
To begin, it's worth noting that breastfeeding is almost universally recognized as the best way to nourish a baby. A recent worldwide survey of pregnant women and new mums found that a majority felt breastfeeding is better than using infant formula, and would feel guilty if they did not breastfeed their babies. 36
www.webexpressguide.com
When it comes to the ideal length of time to breastfeed a baby, however, there was more variation between both individual respondents and countries. In Brazil, China, Germany, Hungary, Mexico, the UK and the USA, most mothers felt six to 12 months is ideal, whereas French mothers favoured a shorter period of three to six months, and Turkish mothers felt it better to carry on for 12 to 24 months. In every country surveyed, a sizeable percentage (between 26 and 58 percent) of respondents felt that a two-year-old is too old to be breastfed – although the WHO recommends that breastfeeding should continue throughout the first two years of a baby's life.
•
In many countries, including India, there is a widespread belief that colostrum (the nutritionally-dense liquid produced by a mother immediately after her baby’s birth) is impure or “dirty”; hence it is often expressed and then thrown away. The baby is then fed formula for the first few days of its life.
•
In Lebanon, it is commonly believed that a mother’s stomach ache can be passed to her baby through her breast milk. Similarly, many believe that eating foods such as cauliflower and cabbage can cause the nursing baby to develop gas and bloating.
•
In predominantly Muslim countries, breastfeeding is often seen as a religious duty, as the Qu’ran specifies that babies should be breastfed by their mothers or a wet nurse for approximately two years. In the past, shared breastfeeding was not uncommon, with relatives or neighbours with babies of a similar age sharing the nursing amongst themselves.
•
In some areas of Kenya, women are advised not to breastfeed after a quarrel until they have undergone a ritual cleansing, whereas in other regions it is believed that breastfeeding in public makes the mother and child vulnerable to the evil eye.
•
In Mongolia, breast milk is considered so healthy and appetising that even adults will occasionally indulge. It is not uncommon for a nursing mother to offer excess milk to her husband or another family member, and it is often given to the elderly for medicinal purposes.
Attitudes to breastfeeding in public The survey also revealed varying attitudes to breastfeeding in public, with 41% of mums in France and 47% in China the most likely to find it an embarrassing experience. On the opposite end of the spectrum, only 7% of the Hungarian mothers and 13% of the Mexican mothers who responded found it embarrassing to breastfeed in public. A large number of respondents in all the countries (between 19 and 63 percent) believed it was perfectly natural to breastfeed in public.
Breastfeeding practices in individual cultures Many cultures have their own individual beliefs and customs when it comes to breastfeeding. Some of these are helpful to mothers and babies; others are fairly harmless; while others could potentially have a negative impact on a baby's health. Here are a few examples of breastfeeding traditions in various cultures:

I died for 45 minutes yet here I am talking with you! A lunch interview with Jorge Keller accompanied by his wife Alexandra Licintuña. I did not know what to expect at the meeting with Alexandra and Jorge, but the first thing he said to me after our brief introduction is “Do you know what it is that happened to me? You are talking to a man that died for 45 minutes!” “I woke up that fated morning with a bit of stomach pain. I believed it might have been for something I had eaten. I did not feel well all day long; in the evening I took a paracetamol tablet and sat down to chat with my wife for a while before watching a film after she went to bed. I think Alexandra can take over from, here because that is when I died.” “Suddenly I was awakened by some agonising screams”, she continued “I realised he was having a heart attack, I called 112 and they told me how to give him a heart massage until the ambulance arrived. He seemed not to have a pulse but my neighbour helped to hit his chest while I kept on massaging until the ambulance arrived. I believe this is when the brain damage was caused, through the 42

lack of blood flow and oxygen to the brain. Apparently the main aorta was blocked, so they placed a stent, however I was not given much hope at the time yet I was not going to give up, I thought I could rely on the best coronary unit in Spain at La Paz. Jorge survived on a life support machine, in a coma, a never ending coma. At some point I was advised that it might be better to disconnect the life support because even if he survived he would be as a vegetable. I refused to accept this; I did not want to lose my husband and I kept believing that he will soon wake up and be all right.
Weeks later he finally woke up: “Where am I?” “What Happened?” he asked. But that is all he ever said. He spoke no more and it became evident that he just did not know me or anyone else; his memory had all gone, it was like a disc that has been totally erased clean. He couldn’t walk, he wouldn’t talk, and he couldn’t even hold a spoon to feed himself he became a 30 years old baby. After 9 months of rehabilitation in a clinic there was no improvement but I still refused to accept there was no hope left, so I avidly started to look for solutions. I believed there had to be one so I studied nursing to help Jorge and then I came across an association ‘Ayuda a la afasia’; I learned that there was not enough research made in cerebral hypoxia, but that an Israeli doctor was experimenting with hyperbaric medicine, which seemed to give some positive results with one of his patients. It is then that I decided to try this and I took Jorge to an oxygen chamber (hyperbaric chamber). Miracle or not, the visible improvements were almost immediate; at first he started to talk and with some mental exercises his brain seemed to start gradually working again. Putting him through some mental effort with numbers he then even started to write too. There was the answer all the time! At first I put him through 2 sessions a day, about 40 in all. This proved to me and his surgeons that the technique actually recovered the neurons in the brain making them start to reconnect to each other. And here he is today.
From Madrid, some 3 1/2 years ago, we moved to Estepona for a quieter and healthier environment and this is when I had to master all my financial efforts and with a lot of help I acquired a hyperbaric chamber because the only one available in the area was for multiple occupations and a different type of use. I could see the benefits in my husband’s recovery, so what’s the use of money if life has to end up this way? This is how it was that the Centro Medico Hiperbarico was started. Not an easy task to start with but my husband continued improving and he is the living proof of the benefits one derives from the Hyperbaric Chamber. I am glad I can now also offer the same benefit to others who join my clinic for a number of different afflictions.” Jorge at this point interacted to say: -”I am very proud and thankful to Alexandra. I died for 45 minutes, she brought me back to life but my brain had gone. From a successful business person I became an incapable vegetable, but thanks to her I have and continue recovering my faculties. I get very tired very quickly, 45% of my heart is necrotic, but here I am talking with you. I am happy to be the living proof of what this new Hyperbaric Oxygen Medicine can actually achieve even in a most hopeless of cases”.

Secrets of Rejuvenation with Immediate Results We all want to stay young and beautiful as long as we possibly can!! • What if you would wake up looking and feeling younger each and every day? • What if you could achieve your ideal weight easily and effortlessly? • What if you could have smooth skin and radiant complexion without trying? • What if your health challenges could quickly become 'thing of the past', regardless of how long you had it for? • What if you could learn how to rejuvenate with immediate results?
AGEING IS A MYTH The incredible ancient knowledge combined with the cutting edge research as well as the experience in area of nutrition can help you start reversing the so-called 'process of ageing' and accelerate rejuvenation through correct nutritional intake. What we call "ageing" is actually toxicity and dehydration, which causes our cells to shrink. Therefore, an "ageing body" is a toxic dehydrated body. Years of incorrect food choices, even "healthy" ones are responsible for our cells to shrink. As time goes by we lose precious, life sustaining water on the cellular level. When we are born, our body is 90% water, by the time we reach puberty it drops to approximately 70%. When we die it's only 50%. Unfortunately, we can't properly rehydrate our cells by simply drinking water.
46
www.webexpressguide.com
Due to the lack of nutritional education and therefore incorrect food choices we accumulate a mass of toxic waste, which is stored everywhere: in our fatty tissues, blood vessels, organs, tissues, joints, and so on. This toxic build up prevents our systems from functioning correctly. It slows down and hinders our energy flow; it blocks our electro-magnetic field. We eat three, four, sometimes five meals a day but mostly we are chronically starved. Our food is usually void of essential nutrients: essential fats, proteins and sugars. While our body works hard to extract whatever possible to sustain itself from that bulk of "food", it also has to work even harder to process it all and get rid of the by-products and toxic waste. In many cases having worked it for nothing. Headaches, migraines, dry dull skin, anaemia, low energy levels, insomnia, Candida, thrush, PMS, digestive & emotional issues, hormonal imbalance, inflammation, weight issues, IBS
... you name it, often are associated with the same root problems: toxicity, dehydration at cellular level and the END, the Essential Nutrient Deficiency, of which the majority of people on our planet are not aware of and most likely suffer from. By removing toxins, rehydrating on a cellular level with nutrient in dense substances (such as highly structured distilled plant juices, smoothies and meals) packed with proteins, essential fats, amino acids, vitamins, minerals, enzymes, you can in fact reverse the "ageing process" and grow young - detoxify, instead of age (toxification). Without going into further detail as the subject is vast we offer you the opportunity to learn how to undo the damage and start to rejuvenate rapidly. Afraid to be buried alive? Following my article in November last year “Talk to me”, I am pleased to say that some have actually contacted me to help them put their mind at rest mainly from the fear of dying. We often have clients and friends asking us strange questions or making comments that they believe are highly unusual. I thought that on this occasion I would like to quote a comment that was made by “Eddie”, (shhh…! the editor of this magazine).

He told me that his mother had made the request that when her time came that she be cremated rather than buried. The reason given was her fear that she might be buried alive or that she would come back to life after burial. Eddie asked me if this was really strange and if others had ever spoken of this. The fact is ….not THAT strange…..the fear of being buried alive (vivisepulture) is as common as fear of death itself. Deciding to make sure that it does not happens, opting for cremation does take courage, if you believe you may still be alive. The truth is that the chances of any of this occurring nowadays are practically impossible. There was a time where cases of catalepsy could be diagnosed as “death” but those days are truly over. I thought that this comment or short story is particularly interesting in that it represents a good question that I have often been asked in the past and a natural fear to overcome. I know this is not something you want to talk about, but I am here to try and help you. As I said before I deal with death every day of my life. Any questions you may have are good, so if there’s anything in particular you’d like to share or ask about drop me a line, give us a call and tell us about it, or, if you prefer just let me know what topic you would like dealt with and we will bring it up in the next issue. LONG LIVE ROMANCE! A few words of invaluable advice for all lovers on St. Valentine’s As usual we kick off with a big thank you to all our readers for your valuable comments over the Christmas and New Year period. I am glad you all enjoyed and survived the festivities intact. I like to think, in part due to the many useful tips we provided and my selfless work for the Samaritans; yes I do like to give a little something back and manning the phones with my usual mix of common sense and morbid fascination for the poor unfortunates of society, gives me a cozy glow; not to mention some really good ammunition.
flower covered, overpriced piece of paper for the Esmeralda of his dreams. I am talking St Valentine’s Day; now nobody really knows the actual truth behind the patron saint of ugly people, but it can be safely assumed that he was, like myself, a caring humanitarian and maybe even a latterday champion of the underdog, again, like myself. One thing is certain however, and that is, thanks to his legacy, the aesthetically challenged are guaranteed at least one
So what do these sad B*****ds all have to winge about? Well it would seem on average the main gripe would be loneliness and a general inability to get a hold of someone to s**g. I would not be the sort of person to be too familiar with this particular malaise, but that doesn’t mean I can’t sympathize with Jane and Johnny no-mates, after all beauty as they say, is only skin deep. So what kind of advice do I offer to the Grinch’s? Well, luckily enough there is one day a year that could have been made for these poor unfortunates; a day when, without fear of ridicule, even Quasimodo himself can walk loud and proud into a card shop and buy a big, soppy, 58

might add a word of advice, hold back on handing over the choky’s until you see the way things are shaping up, after all a 10 euro box of chocolates is quite an investment and if the ice queen isn’t going to give out, you will need something to eat whilst waiting for your bus. What to wear is important, try not to wander too far away from your usual mode of attire, keep in mind that you wear what you wear because you feel comfortable in it, being in a strange place, with a complete stranger, for the first time is uncomfortable enough as it is without having the point of a brand new Ben Sherman shirt collar burrowing its way into your shoulders. Avoid buying any new items of clothing as you may find yourself in some unfamiliar positions (if your luck is in) and therefore don’t want to be squirming about in too much polyester, I am sure I don’t need to tell you that a build-up of static electricity, could lead to some nasty scorching! A favourite starting point for the repugnant Romeo is a darkened restaurant and this time honoured tradition of meeting the intended victim in the dark and filling them up with alcohol as quickly as possible has worked miracles for some over the years, take for example Chris Evens and Billie Piper (although having said, a few million pounds works just as well as a bat cave!) rose is all well and good if you have the kind of looks to carry off such a stingy gesture, but unless you are the Milk Tray Man type, do yourself a favor and look as if you don’t mind paying for a bit of the other. Chocolates are traditionally a love token, here again, you need to go for a big flash box, a family bag of Revels just isn’t going to swing it, and if I
At the end of the day, the path of true love never runs smooth and beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so my advice to all those seeking true love but carrying the burden of severe ugly stick abuse, would be, remember, not all frogs turn into prince charming, but that didn’t stop Miss Piggy and she was a bit of a babe!

ENTERTAINMENT
Gaming: This month I am introducing another couple of absolutely epic games that are guaranteed to impress gamers. Sebastian
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard
Tom Clancys: Ghost Recon Wildlands
The game is set in 2017, approximately 4 years after the events of Resident Evil 6 in the fictional city of Dulvey, Louisiana in the Southern United States. It features a new protagonist named Ethan Winters, a civilian who offers fewer combat skills than most previous Resident Evil main characters. Ethan is searching for his missing wife, Mia, which leads him to a derelict plantation mansion, home of the Baker family.
The game is set in Bolivia, which has become increasingly unstable as the Santa Blanca drug cartel gains more power and influence to the point where Bolivia has become the world’s largest producer of cocaine. The rise in power of these drug cartels concerns the United States Government, as Santa Blanca’s influence has begun to spread beyond Bolivia. As a result, the United States Army dispatches an elite special operations unit called “the Ghosts” to destroy the cartel and reveal the connection between Santa Blanca and the local government.
