editor page I still remember the time when I started Web Express guide from my garage, this was just over 17 years ago. We certainly have come a long way since then! We were the first Costa del Sol web also printed as a magazine. I believe we still are (as opposed to publications with websites). Our aim has always been and still is to promote businesses on the Costa itself and worldwide. Let’s hope that the unfortunate political situation currently governed by fools that only seek their own personal glory is just a passing phase of no serious consequence giving us many more years to do our job.

Frequently needing the toilet in the middle of the night is a condition that affects more than half of 50s, leading to fatigue, irritability and a groggy feeling in the morning. But scientists believe they have found a solution, and it could be as simple as a slight dietary tweak. Japanese researchers discovered that lowering salt intake can significantly reduce excessive night time toilet trips, a condition which is also known as nocturia. The Guardian Support for Scottish independence at ‘highest level ever’. Support for Scottish Independence is at its highest recorded level, according to a study by ScotCen Social Research, although the popularity of the European Union has fallen in Scotland, which voted against Brexit last year. One year after opening her gallery in Marbella, Corinne Lewin, a Monegasque entrepreneur, confirms that her decision to establish her art business on the Costa del Sol has definitely been the right one. business people and art lovers and, last but not least, some philanthropic initiatives and projects as mentioned here below. When describing Atrium Gallery Marbella (www. atriumgallerymarbella. com) , it is important to underline from the start that we are not just talking about an art gallery that sells attractive

ometimes a client likes an artist and his or her style, but would like to get a unique piece, created especially for his or her home or office. Atrium Gallery’s “Artist at Home” project makes this dream
come true: client and artist can meet each other and the artist can then travel to any part of the world to meet the client personally at his home or building where together they will make an idea materialise into the perfect work of art for that specific place. This is what gives customers a unique experience and opportunity. With the “Art School Project Genesis”, Corinne Lewin’s aim is to help children from the age of 5 to university age get closer to the world of art. People are often afraid to open the door of a gallery and enter, even if just to have a look. Perhaps they think they are not experts; that they are not well dressed, not rich enough, and so on. With the “Art School Project Genesis”, children can visit
the gallery and meet an artist who wears the Atrium T-shirt with his or her name on it; they are encouraged to ask questions and to learn. When they visit the gallery they are immediately asked to choose the art work they like best, take pictures, and afterwards, as a school project, write down their feelings and their impressions. One may not be an art expert but everybody has feelings when standing in front of a picture, or a certain use of colours, a sculpture, an idea, a face, and even a sentence…The art is part of our life and of the history of humankind. Furthermore, depending on the school program and the agenda of the gallery’s artists, Atrium offers free master-classes to any schools that wish to let pupils live the experience of learning
Art School Project Genesis
in a different way, creating art works directly with an artist, step by step. The aim is to help children grow into adulthood not afraid to get into a contemporary art gallery, living the art as it is is a main part of being human, of their own inner soul. Some children may have problems at home, broken families, etc. Shouldn’t they at least be proud of their schools, the places where they spend ¾ of their time? Atrium also created for them the additional free project “Paint your School”, that is a mural painted by the children together with one of the gallery’s artists to let them feel they are doing something to be really proud of, something as important as making their school look nice; an experience that will
surely make the difference in their lives, hopefully helping some discover their vocation…as future artists? But this is not all. Atrium is preparing a new CD with music created for this project. The CD will be presented to all children, parents and artists participating in the project, and to those clients who somehow also participate to make Atrium a successful, powerful and enthusiastic “launch pad” for this and other similar initiatives already in the pipeline. Corinne Lewin,in order to create something exclusive, unique, elegant and impressive, appointed DJ Vincenzo Marbella as Atrium’s official DJ for the creation of the CD entitled “SIGN” that will be the leitmotif for the future years, full of pleasant surprises.

what’s news
Guest Artists for EL BALLET Gala on June 18, 2017 Although born in London, Sasha Mukhamedov boasts parents who are the royalty of Russian Ballet, Irek and Masha Mukhamedovs. Sasha received her initial ballet training at various schools in England, and completed it under the tutelage of her mother. Prior to being invited to join the Dutch (HNB) National Ballet in 2008, Sasha participated in several ballet competitions, winning a Bronze medal at the YAGP in Italy and the Most Promising Young Dancer award in Varna, Bulgaria. In 2011, Sasha won the Silver medal at the Beijing International Ballet Competition in China. In 2017, she was promoted to Principal Dancer with HNB. Her repertoire includes both classical and contemporary roles, with several roles created specifically for her by the noted choreographers Krzysztof Pastor and David Dawson. Jared Wright is a graduate of the Australian Ballet School. He has danced with the Australian National Ballet and Dutch National Ballet where he was promoted to second soloist in 2016. His repertoire consists of many prominent classical and neoclassical roles, as well as contemporary ballets, most notably Rudi Van Dantzig’s Four Last Songs.
Dan Haja was a soloist with the Sibiu Ballet Theatre before joining the National Opera in Cluj-Napoca, Romania as a principal dancer in 2011. He performs all major roles and often participates in international galas. Melissa Hamilton is an Irish wunderkind who became a star of the Royal Ballet and a member of the international club of the world’s elite dancers whose participation is eagerly desired all over the world. However, her talent wasn’t always recognized. An invitation to join Royal Ballet soon followed, as did the escalating amount of classical and contemporary solos. She created roles for the Royal Ballet’s resident choreographer Wayne McGregor in productions including Infra, Carbon Life, Limen and Acis. In 2011, she won the Gold Medal at the Soul International Ballet Competition, and in 2015, she was featured as “woman of the month” by Elle magazine. Melissa had just finished her twoyears principal engagements with Dresden’s Semperoper Ballett and Polish National Ballet and is now returning to Royal Ballet as First Soloist.
Andreea Jura is a Principal Dancer with the National Opera in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. She is one of the most prominent dancers in her country, and she is often invited to participate in international galas. Andrea also danced with Sibiu Ballet Theatre, and received gold medals at several ballet competitions in Romania and Italy. She also Tickets available at holds a Master’s degree in ballet pedagogy.

RECIPE
The Chef at KOKOMO recommends
Grilled Sardines
INGREDIENTS • • • • • • • • •
1 whole Piquillo pepper 4 slices sourdough 4 tbsp olive oil 1 garlic clove, peeled and left whole 2 spring onions, chopped 1 tbsp chopped parsley 1 red chilli, deseeded and chopped 4 sardines, cleaned and filleted 1 lemon, juice only
For the slaw • • • • • • • • •
150ml/5fl oz white wine vinegar 150ml/5fl oz water 75g/2½oz caster sugar ¼ white cabbage, finely sliced ¼ red cabbage, finely sliced 1 carrot, grated 1 small onion, finely sliced ¼ celeriac, finely sliced 2 tbsp chopped fresh coriander
METHOD 1. Using tongs, hold the pepper over a gas flame until black all over. Put it into a bowl, cover with cling film and leave for a few minutes. Remove the black skin from the pepper, scoop out the seeds and chop the flesh. 2. Now heat a pan to medium-hot. Rub the sourdough with half the oil and the garlic and grill on both sides until browned. Set aside. 3. In a bowl, mix the spring onions, parsley and chilli. Toss in the Piquillo peppers. 4. Preheat the grill to high. Spread the remaining oil on a baking tray. Add the sardines, season with salt and pepper and grill on one side for 1 minute, or until cooked. 5. For the slaw, place the vinegar, water and sugar in a saucepan and heat until the sugar has dissolved. Mix the other slaw ingredients in a large bowl. Just before serving pour over the liquid and add the coriander. 6. To serve, garnish on the bread with the pepper mix, add the sardines and finish with a touch more garnishes and a squeeze of lemon. Serve immediately with the slaw 16

Bodegon Gallery Wine Club & Restaurant This month introduce:
Villalar
A wine produced by La Mejorada Villalar gets its name in homage to the intimate relationship the Monastery of La Mejorada had with the defeat of the Comuneras troops by King Carlos I in the fields of Villalar; upon his orders General Padilla was buried at La Mejorada, and not in Toledo as originally intended by his wife MarĂa Pacheco. Grapes: Cabernet Sauvignon, harvested by hand Type of wine: Red 12 months in French oak barrels Alcohol: 14% vol. Ale Production Area: Castilla y Leon To the eye it is of a bright pillory red colour. On the nose it is very fine and complex as of ripe red fruit, spicy, balsamic, mineral, and elegant with hints of chocolate. On the palate it is well balanced: balsamic, mature tannins, fresh with a fruity finish.
We welcome you to join our unique style wine club where you can taste and discover some of the best wines while enjoying superb food in a classic environment. Members can take pleasure in a different experience each month AND ALSO benefit of a 20% discount off the wine of the month. Of course any wine can be reserved and kept in our cellars until needed.

my opinion
Who do they think they are, telling me when I can vote?
Some kind of rigged Democracy this is!!
By  The Count De La Perrelle.
Looking out of my window today and seeing the beginnings of a blue sky after the horrible storms of the last few days, I began to wonder if the coming British General Election in June will have even half a chance of brightening up any Brexit skies and offer a modicum of sensibility to this Tory mishmash of a fast put together flimsy right wing excuse of abandoning the EU.
www.webexpressguide.com
31
The referendum was, in my opinion, not quite democratic as many of us British Citizens (immigrants) were not allowed to vote because of the 15 year rule and many others were apparently denied their democratic right under EU and British democracy rules because although they did apply for the proxy papers in time and were registered to vote in UK during the last fifteen years and sent off the filled in documents, many did not receive the required papers/documents in time before the referendum vote!! Tory’s broken promises. It seems the Tory Government in the UK who promised to scrap this voting rule have reneged on their promise, which they made in October to scrap the time limit, no surprise there. In a letter to ‘The New Europeans.net’ campaign group on Friday, the Cabinet Office said that “unfortunately” British citizens who had lived abroad for longer than fifteen years would not be entitled to vote on 8 June. The letter has prompted a furious reaction from Britons living abroad, and in Europe in particular, with campaign groups accusing the Conservatives of breaking yet another promise. Nathan Lappin of the constitution group in the Cabinet Office told ‘The New Europeans’ that “there is not sufficient time to change the relevant primary and secondary legislation to enfranchise all British expats, scrapping the 1532

my opinion
year time limit, ahead of the dissolution of parliament before the general election”. Frankly readers, I think this is outrageous and totally unfair, especially to those of us living in Europe and who will no doubt face challenges post Brexit. The Majority of the people most affected by this decision are just regular people who have decided for reasons of their own to live in another European Country. It does not mean they feel less British, in fact they are usually very proud of their Country, so why in heavens name should they be disallowed a vote just because the British Government has failed again to honour its promise! Many of these British residents abroad have spent their lives working and paying into the system. Some even still pay British Taxes. I think it is disgusting and disgraceful for any Government can disregard so many of its Citizens. I wonder if there is an alternative reason? Of course this is a personal opinion but after some extensive research it appears that there are around three million British ‘ex patriots’ living in different European Countries. This is a subjective figure of course as not all of them bother to register with their relevant local Governments. It has though crossed my mind and no doubt other people have considered this, that if we all had been able to vote in the Referendum then the three plus million votes from us all in Europe would have negated the referendum result. Of course I am fully aware that not all British ex Patriots would have voted to remain. Now that raises another bone of contention I have. I watched a program on TV a few weeks ago where the commentators were asking the British ‘Enclaves’ in various parts of our adopted Country here in Spain which
way they had voted and wanted from the referendum. I was surprised and absolutely flabbergasted to hear them say that they were very happy for Britain to leave the EU and to be released from the so called constraints of the EU, reduce immigration and to gain back our British Parliamentary Sovereignty! They said this whilst sipping on Sangria and laying in the sunshine on the Costa would you believe. I have pondered this for some time now and I still cannot think of any feasible reason for anyone who lives in Spain or another European Country where you have a home and/or work or run a business enjoying the freedom of movement that we all respect….then why oh why would you vote for Brexit? In my opinion………and pardon the clichés In my opinion and after all that is what this article is….I feel that many British Ex Patriots should really study and consider exactly what the outcome of any Brexit deal will mean for us all. To those of you who consider that leaving the EU will have no affect on us living here….well I think you may have been wearing your rose-coloured glasses a little too long, so pull your head out of the sand or your ass whichever is deeper and start considering how all of this may affect our lives here and just what we can all do about it. Please if you have not already done so do get yourself on to the local Padron and register. Money can then be claimed by our local Councils towards the local infrastructure. Also do all the paperwork and get yourself fully resident here. The more of us that are registered and on the pardon then the more strings the foreign offices have to their various bows. We Brits don’t like to make a fuss but maybe for once we had better seriously consider it. www.webexpressguide.com

Don’t let bad sleep become your worst nightmare
Sleep advice from Sanitas
Rest is a very important part of our day to day lives, and we should aim for between seven or eight hours to make it effective. Usually we associate this with when we go to sleep, although we must bear in mind that sleep is not necessarily the same as rest: poor posture can ruin our rest making us feel more tired and in a bad mood. During sleep our body is still working and performs functions of great importance: hormonal regulation, consolidation of short term memory... Although our consciousness is resting, our body deals with its recovery and optimal preparation for the next day. That is why it is so important to rest effectively. The position that we adopt at bedtime is decisive for the quality of our rest: a position in which the back is not enforced, will make you wake up feeling refreshed and having recovered from previous day Recommended Sleeping Positions Try to remain laying on your back. This way your column maintains its natural curvature. Sleeping on a good quality mattress that does not warp also greatly aids a night rests rest. Sleep with a pillow that will allow you to maintain the curve of the neck: not too high as to take a stand (with chin almost touching the chest), nor too soft or the head may not receive proper support. Try putting a pillow under your knees, something very few people do but that is really quite comfortable.
36
www.webexpressguide.com
Lay on your side in the fetal position, with legs flexed. This position is highly recommended for people who suffer pain in the lumbar area, since the pressure between the vertebrae disappears, although the alignment of the column is not optimal. In order to avoid shrinking one leg and stretching the other, since the hips lose their alignment you can place a pillow between your two legs, basically, stopping one leg dropping its weight on the other causing pain., this helps the hip to be more aligned (this position is highly recommended for pregnant women). Avoid Sleeping Face Down You should avoid sleeping face down as by laying on your stomach, the column is misaligned putting great pressure on the vertebrae of the lower back. In addition, this position requires that the neck is strongly tipped to support you on the pillow, which can create neck tension. By stretching one leg, you flex the other causing pressure on the hip (only on one side is free while the other is still facing down), something that prevents proper rest.

HOW TO HELP YOURSELF IF HAVING A HEART ATTACK...... Article introduced by E. Gladstone
Let’s say it's evening and you're home alone of course) after an unusually hard day on the job. You're really tired, upset and frustrated. Suddenly you start experiencing severe pain in your chest that starts to drag out into your arm and up in to your jaw. You are only about five km from the hospital nearest your home. Unfortunately you don't know if you'll be able to make it that far and how long for the ambulance to arrive, if you can manage to make a call. You have been trained in CPR, but the guy that taught the course did not tell you how to perform it on yourself.
SO HOW DO YOU SURVIVE A HEART ATTACK WHEN ALONE? Since many people are alone when they suffer a heart attack without help, the person whose heart is beating improperly and who begins to feel faint, has only about 10 seconds left before losing consciousness. However, these victims can help themselves by coughing repeatedly and very vigorously. A deep breath should be taken before each cough, and the cough must be deep and prolonged, as when producing sputum from deep inside the chest. A breath and a cough must be repeated about every two seconds without let-up until help arrives, or until the heart is felt to be beating normally again. Deep breaths get oxygen into the lungs and coughing movements squeeze the heart and keep the blood circulating. The squeezing pressure on the heart also helps it regain normal rhythm. In this way, heart attack victims can get to a hospital. Tell as many other people as possible about this. It could save their lives! A cardiologist says: “If everyone who reads this tells it to 10 people, you can bet that he'll save at least one life”. When I asked an ambulance man what can I do too try save myself if having a heart attack with no one near to help me he said: NOTHING! Imagine how many people believe this or even believed this!

Your personal tax return in Spain All tax residents in Spain with any sort of income during 2016 are obliged to submit one. The annual tax return encompasses all types of incomes classified as follows: 1. Employment related revenues: Salaries, Wages, Pensions, payments in kind. 2. Revenues from Real Estate. 3. Revenues from Assets other than Real Estate. 4. Revenues from Business Activities. 5. Accrued Incomes (This is a kind of wealth tax). The above incomes may be taxed with the Regular Tax Scale or the Saving Tax Scales depending on whether the time for generating the revenue was less or more than 2 years. “Example: You receive dividends from a fund investment of 5000€ after a period of 2 years maturity. Provided that this is the only revenue under this category it will be taxed at 20% independently of your gross revenue under other concepts.” Double taxation agreements: Income generated outside Spain must also be declared. However If there is an agreement on double taxation between Spain and that country (these include all EU countries and some others), whatever tax paid for that concept in the foreign country will be deducted from you tax liability in Spain. 44
www.webexpressguide.com
Paperwork and documented evidence The submission of a tax returns does not require the inclusion of documented proof of the incomes, however it is highly recommendable to keep these safely in case of an inspection or you will not have enough time to gather them all. Allowances Personal allowances may be applied however while some will reduce the taxable amount, others will reduce the actual tax due. For example contributions to a private pension plan (within limits), contributions to a pension plan for a disabled member of the family, Maternity allowances are tax deductable. Final Figure. Payment or Rebate? Most likely, as a business owner, you have been making quarterly tax payments in advance. This is when your final tax is calculated and, if you overpaid, you will be pleasantly surprised with a tax rebate. Of course it could also mean that you do owe more when your personal tax rate applicable exceed the 20% default rate that is applied to retentions and advance payments.

Where do Undertakers go…? When their time is up?
Well, I suppose this is probably the classic question that applies to all professionals. Where does a doctor go when he is ill? He just needs another doctor, of course! One that he can rely on to make him better as quickly as possible and… with discretion. What would his patients think if they found out he used another doctor? Professionals can trust their friends but they do need professionals to rely on. Unfortunately the two do not usually go together thus leaving very little choice available. However there is a difference with undertakers, they do, especially those long established family concerns such as Camero.
WE ARE HERE TO LISTEN & HELP It may be wise to consider a pre-plan. Our Dignity Charter Plan could be what you’re looking for. It is a safe plan, not an insurance.

They get to know several of their colleagues over the many years; this means that they acquire a well balanced knowledge of whom they will trust with their dear departed. So what do you do when you need a professional? Whom can you rely on? How many undertaker friends do you have when you may need a funeral? Probably none; so what can you do to find your professional friend that you can trust? The common denominator can be described in one word: - “empathy”. Not many possess the gift of empathy, the ability to understand and feel what others feel, and the ability to cry when watching a sad movie. So if the person you’re talking to comes across as empathic and professional you’re definitely on the right track. Because you’re reading this we can presume that one of your favourite quotes is Benjamin Franklin’s “by failing to prepare you’re preparing to fail”. So how do you avoid “failure” in something where there are no second chances of getting it right? This is the reason why we ask you to call us, talk to us. Why not call three companies and ask them over the phone to send you information by email. You’ll be surprised how well honed your instinct is...trust it. And THIS is what we undertakers do….Trust Our Instinct Based on Experience.

STOP
YOUR PAIN! You can stop pain naturally with no medication, no surgery and no other remedies. (information provided by Arthropos)
N
ature ensures that we experience pain so as to alert us to injury and protect our bodies from damage. But what happens when the cause of such pain is derived from a cause that cannot be stopped instantly such as arthritis, lumbar pain or sciatica? The first thing that doctors will recommend is pain killers and antiinflammatory medications, which alleviate pain for as long as they are used, however they do not cure the cause. When medications fail one alternative can be surgery. This is why in recent years patients have been seeking relief and even cure from natural methods such as getting more exercise, massage, herbal supplements, and acupuncture and so on depending on the cause of pain. Constant pain and aches make life an absolute misery; unfortunately as we get older we are we are prone to get aches and pains through wear and tear. The answer lies in stimulating cellular regeneration to relieve and even cure all symptoms and pains. Treating patients’ with Thermo-Percussion brings relief and even cures in a natural, effective and durable way, safely, without operations or medication. Drugs treat symptoms, but

The worst dressed at the
MET Gala 2017 The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York has long been established to celebrate one of the most important events of the year in the world of fashion. And as in every red carpet celebrations, there have been visual alterations, skids, stylistic errors, carnival looks or simply seeking to attract attention. The following have been chosen as the worst dressed of that night. 54

Solange Knowles
Madonna
Most of the guests wore very little cloth but Beyoncé’s sister opted for a frightening feather-down dress with tail included.
A two-piece military look shaped by corsets and a long Moschino tail. The worst is that that it had a thousand accessories.
Celide Dion
Lena Dunham
Celine Dion has not scored with her silver and black dress from Atelier Versace. An unflattering model.
Too pompous! She has chosen a design of stamped of maroon plaids and asymmetric décolleté with maxi bow by Elizabeth Kennedy, little becoming. www.webexpressguide.com

o h w y l l a e r u o Are y ? e r a u o y y a s you Personally I have never pretended to be someone I am not and you get what you see. I always did the job I have been trained for and always tried to do it better. Doing your job right and well is all you need to do.
H
owever, living here on the Costa del Sol, I can see how tempting and how easy it can be to be someone or something else. With a bit of P.R., a lot of charity event attendances and quite a lot of bullshit I could have been a descendant from German aristocracy with Jewish ancestors and quite easily be known as Prickly von Cohen.
58
www.webexpressguide.com
But there is a trick in reinventing yourself in the first place and this is that you must inject just a tiny amount of truth, just a little something that appears reasonable but that cannot be easily checked. Living on the Costa for the number of years that I have, I have seen some incredible transformations; from some rich business man’s humble bit on the side mistresses to company directors of all types of businesses, normally something of which they know nothing about, yet suddenly they seem to have studied and trained for it since childhood. Businesses usually set up with payoffs from said rich men when they were replaced by younger models or when they decided to stay with the smarter wife, when the mistress was the cheaper option out (no kids). Common sense should also tell these transformers, as I call them, that if they used one organ on their bodies to get where they are, there’s no point now trying to use another organ (the brain) to suddenly become the female version of Stephen Hawkins. Some typical examples of transformations are: • • •
Wall painters suddenly transforming into interior designers. Opticians transforming into eye fashion experts. Women, who shopped a lot, suddenly become fashion designers just because they get a photographer, a hotel and some friends to some get together. Go on impress me! Get Kate Moss, Claudia Schaeffer or even Naomi Campbell! Not!
•
The sad computer nerds changing into graphic designers. • The cooks to Chefs. • Some are selling second hand dresses and calling them vintage Haûte Couture. • Others making cheap rubbish jewellery and pretending to be the Coast’s answer to Cartier. • P.R. and promotion experts thinking that getting a load of half dressed wannabe models, dressed as Rio Carnival dancers for local beach bars means putting them in the same bracket as Saatchi & Saatchi. • Others who started by clipping cheap photocopies together and reporting what’s going on locally (usually dogs shows) and boring dinner dances for old people at golf courses in aid of dogs, suddenly become Rupert Murdock. • Doctors of cosmetic surgery suddenly are harmonising art and science when I thought they just sucked out as much fat as possible or cut bits out. Well may be I am just old fashioned or not stupid or gullible. • Somebody who can use an old fashioned camera becomes a society photographer, magically up there with David Bailey. Show me your photos of real stars love, not other transformers at beach bars in the summer. Even I can do that! Mind you this trend also seems to encourage men to be something they are not. The cowboys’ era on the Costa del Sol is not over. If my partner wore a turban with a false ruby and hire a luxury car, could he be taken for a rich and wealthy millionaire from the East? Worthy of free credit? Next time I see you out and about and give you that knowing wink, you’ll know I have transformed momentarily into being discreet as usual. www.webexpressguide.com

PREY
TEKKEN 7
Prey takes place in an alternate timeline where United States President John F. Kennedy survives the assassination attempt in 1963. As President, Kennedy directs more funding into the space program, allowing it to flourish. Drawn by humans’ activity in space, an alien force made up of many different species, collectively called the Typhon, attacks Earth.[5] The United States and the U.S.S.R. band together to fight off and capture the Typhon. Together, they build the space station Talos I in orbit around Earth’s moon, to be used as a prison for the Typhon.
The game’s story will be much darker than ever before, closer in tone to Tekken 4 and will serve as the conclusion of the Mishima clan saga. It will provide answers regarding the feud between Heihachi Mishima, his son, Kazuya Mishima and his grandson, Jin Kazama, including the origins of Devil Gene among other Tekken mysteries.
