Apricot Stuffed Pork Loin Ingredients • • • • • • •
11 oz. dried apricots 1 pork loin 6 clove garlic 2 1/2 tbsp. fresh chopped rosemary 1 1/2 c. low-sodium fat-free chicken broth Salt Freshly ground pepper
Method 1. In a medium saucepan over mediumhigh heat, bring apricots and 1/2 cup water to a boil. Remove from heat and let sit until water is absorbed, about 10 minutes. 2. Using a long thin knife, cut a 1 1/2-inch-wide slit through the centre of the pork loin lengthwise. Insert a wooden spoon handle and widen the opening. In a small bowl, mix apricots, half the garlic, and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Pack the mixture into the opening 3. The pork loin at 1 1/2-inch intervals with 10- to 12-inch lengths of kitchen twine. 4. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Using a mortar and pestle, grind together 24

chopped rosemary, 3/4 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon of pepper to a coarse rub. Mix in remaining garlic and rub all over the pork loin. 5. Place the pork loin in a medium roasting pan fitted with a rack and roast for 45 minutes. Remove from oven and pour broth over the pork loin. Return to oven and continue to roast, basting every 15 minutes, until the meat’s internal temperature reaches 150 degrees F, up to 1 more hour. 6. Transfer the roast to a wire rack to rest for 20 minutes before slicing. Garnish with rosemary sprigs. Meanwhile, strain pan juices into a gravy boat (reheat juice in a small saucepan over low heat if necessary).

the mammography of the future. *Early detection of apparently precancerous breast lesions saves lives. *Advances in imaging techniques make a more precise and clear view of breast tissue possible. *Women with an average or high risk of breast cancer can benefit from these advances. Despite mammography being the best available early-detection tool in breast cancer today, it does not detect all breast cancers. A new technique has been developed to improve breast disease diagnosis: tomosynthesis. More sensitive and effective in the detection of lesions, breast tomosynthesis overcomes some of the limitations of standard mammography.
What is Tomosynthesis? Performed at the same time as normal mammography, tomosynthesis (3D mammography) consists of taking very thin (1 mm) tomographic slices of the breast, which prevents the superimposition of tissue. In reality, this is a 3D mammogram, which is especially useful in dense breast tissue. During a mammogram, two X-rays of each breast are usually taken from different angles, from top to bottom and obliquely from side to side. To do this, it is necessary to move the breast away from the body, compress it and hold it between two glass plates to

guarantee complete visualisation. Although compression is necessary to obtain images of the breast, it can cause overlapping of breast tissue and the abnormal tissue can be hidden while superimposed normal tissue can appear as abnormal. As in conventional mammography, only 1 compression is performed in each breast.
How does a tomosynthesis mammogram work? It is similar to performing a breast CT, however, instead of acquiring four X-ray

images, the usual projections obtained with mammography, hundreds of images are taken. These enable the discovery of possible smaller lesions, as the chest is seen as it is, not as a result of the overlay of images. From the outside, the equipment which performs tomosynthesis tests is very similar to a mammography, although with one significant difference, it has a tube head which is not static (unlike traditional mammography) but which moves over the breast, taking images whilst moving around in an arc. “The three-dimensional reconstruction of these images provides higher sensitivity associated with more effective detection of breast pathology.”
What are the advantages of this technique? Tomosynthesis increases sensitivity (up to 40% more cancers are identified) and with specificity (it is easier for the radiologist to know whether the pathology seen is breast cancer) than with conventional mammography, significantly reducing the indication for unnecessary biopsies and
improving the detection of very small lesions. If cancerous lesions are found when small, it is possible to give less aggressive treatment. The dose of tomosynthesis radiation is very similar to that of conventional mammography.
The fundamental use of tomosynthesis mammography is early detection of breast cancer. 25,000 new cases of this cancer are diagnosed in Spain every year. According to data presented at the 3rd Spanish Breast Congress, this technique can detect up to 43 per cent more cases of cancer than mammography, thanks to the greater amount of information which can be obtained.
While innovative diagnostic imaging is being implemented widely, it is certainly still not available in all centres. At HC Marbella we already use tomosynthesis as a diagnostic test, to ensure a fast and accurate diagnosis, at the same time improving the patient’s experience.

HOW STUPID CAN YOU GET.COM As of May 2018 there are around 1,805,260,010 active and non-active websites in the whole world! We are slowly approaching 2 billion. Now if we talk in terms of web pages, let’s start from 60 trillion web pages and this number is constantly growing, according to Google. Every business on the internet wants his web page to be on the first page of Google searches, but according to my calculations, regretfully, 3 into 2 will not fit, never mind 60 trillion into 10 per page. Oh! Well! Let’s pay Google to put us first on the result pages or pay by click! 38

Joke! See how long that will last before Google defies its own objective again and pushes everyone else at the back. Unfortunately the Internet is not being used as it should be or as it was meant to be. As far as I am concerned this means that for advertising purposes the internet has become and is becoming
more counterproductive, even more so every day. Meaning that the most effective way of advertising becomes more reliable in PRINTED magazines and other conventional advertising methods. Back to square one. Of course web pages are useful and even essential to every business just as

often malicious viruses. It is just as bad with the mail when you have to look for your messages amongst a flood of SPAM. What a joke! We are allowing the internet to destroy our world as we know it simply because it is not being used as it was intended and because we are allowing it to be exploited and used by criminals, terrorists, large corporation and yes, even governments for their own benefits. Social pages, like Face book, have defied their own objective too. I mean see for yourself! As soon as you enter your Facebook page, within seconds you are flooded with message after message and, as you scroll, you cannot find them again. Your best bet is to have and maintain a Facebook page dedicated to your business and advertise that address, saving yourself the cost and maintenance of a web page amongst the 60 trillion. Our younger generations are far too concerned with games and gossip and showing off to actually learn anything useful or of valued importance.

The www. was invented by Tim BernersLee, a British scientist and, as usual, taken over by the Americans to end up with the mess we have today. The 6 August 1991, the World Wide Web went live to the world and it was not long afterward that the founder of Web Express Guide realised that the most efficient way of promoting one’s business and other businesses is to PRINT the website as a professional magazine. A basic principle that is still working now for all its advertisers. Not just a publication also placed online but a fully blown database website also printed. Such as Google might have been if it was printed.

Of course the Internet is a great discovery and invention; we can communicate from one corner of the world to the other within seconds. Never has every small corner of the world been so quickly and so well informed, but like everything else the information needs to be sifted to eliminate and discourage the bad elements; even punish the bad elements. Should we introduce a licencing system before granting use of the Internet? Should we have an age limit before allowing children to use the Internet? Should we ban pornographic and gambling websites? Should we issue licences before websites can be placed online? Should we not have a central point where users can formalise their complaints, expecting action to be taken? Should there be restrictions and fines applied to advertising agencies and similar companies that shower to all and sundries with SPAM? It certainly a sad state of affairs when some fanatic can blow up a bomb and kill innocent people by pushing a button on his internet mobile phone.

The good news is that the pressure created by animal protection groups has managed a significant victory in Korea resulting in the closure of the largest dog meat slaughterhouse in South Korea. The pressure is now mounting to make the consumption of dog meat illegal. A survey by Gallup Korea conducted in June 2018 shows that 70 percent of South Koreans say they will not eat dog meat in future, and a series of recent moves to curb the dog meat trade reflects a society increasingly ill at ease with the industry. Can you imagine eating you loyal friend? Roughly 20 million dogs are killed for consumption each year in China, making the People’s Republic the world’s largest consumer of dog meat. Although consuming dog meat is not illegal in mainland China, the Chinese Ministry of Agriculture has never issued quarantine procedures for slaughtering dogs.
Selling dog meat as food is against the Food Safety Law of the People’s Republic of China. According to the Animal Epidemic Prevention Law of the People’s Republic of China (2013 Amendment), dogs need to be vaccinated.
Dogs for eating are not vaccinated, so they are illegal to transport or to sell; however, despite this, approximately 20 million dogs each year are slaughtered for consumption. This should highlight the hypocrisy and lack of hygiene and controls in that country. www.webexpressguide.com

Ending Employment Contracts Even if the termination is amicable, the paperwork that follows can be a headache. When the contract is not renewed

Workers employed for more than 6 months need to be given 15-day notice of nonrenewal. This must be a written notice which includes details of all the documents and payments that the employee will receive on the last day of work, namely:

1. Pending Salary 2. Un-taken holiday pay 3. Redundancy payment (Finiquito) The redundancy payment is 9 days per each year employed by the company.

ALSO: 1. Latest wage-slip 2. Redundancy report where all categories of payments are specified. 3. “Certificado de empresa” where the last 6 month contributions to Social Security are listed. Disciplinary measures A contract may be terminated due to gross misconduct or disrespect of the company despite repeated warnings. Here are some examples:

Repeated and unjustified absenteeism or lateness Abuse of trust in contractual relationship with the employer Stealing from the company Lack of discipline or disobedience at the workplace Verbal or physical abuse toward the company or its employees or families Repeated Skiving Drinking or drug abuse Racial or other discrimination
The reasons for termination must be clearly stated and must be valid enough to stand up in court, if need be. Make sure you have evidence i.e. witnesses, documentation of the offense, video recordings etc. In serious cases, you must explain the facts in writing to the employee including the date which the dismissal will take effect. This must be done within a maximum period of two months (60 days) from the date of the offense which leads to the termination of the contract. A notification period is not required and no redundancy payments.

A one month notice must be issued to the worker in writing, specifying the reasons for the dismissal.
The first step is to advise the employee in writing the facts and the dates of the dismissal. The employee then has a 20-day period when he has the right to sue the employer. Verbal dismissals are inadmissible.
The causes for objective dismissals are: •

Inefficiency of the worker: This is controversial and is rarely used since it is difficult to demonstrate the ineptitude of an employee before a court. Lack of adaptation to modifications: Failure & inability to adapt to new technical innovations that have been implemented into the workplace If the situation persists after receiving adequate support and education, after 2 months, the employee may be dismissed. Absenteeism: Absenteeism means, for example, more than two consecutive days of unexcused absence in the workplace. Need to reduce labour force: For economic, technical, organizational or production reasons. This is the argument most used by the employer to lay someone off, and must objectively credit the need to reduce costs to maintain the business showing that dispensing with the worker will produce real savings in the company.
On receipt of a claim the Court may classify the dismissal as follows: Null dismissal: It is understood that the reason for the dismissal is due to some form of discrimination or a violation of the fundamental rights of the worker. The employer must readmit the worker immediately and pay the salary to include the duration of the litigation. Dismissal: The judge considers that the employer has provided sufficient evidence for the disciplinary dismissal. This entails the termination of the contract with the employee without any compensation. Unfair Dismissal: This is when the dismissal does not meet all the formal requirements. In this situation, the employer has the option to readmit the worker or pay a compensation of 45 days of salary per year worked, up to a maximum of 42 monthly payments.

Empty-nesters ‘resent live-in adult children’. Parents whose adult children return to live in the family home suffer stress and conflict, a new study has found. One muffin could exceed the daily sugar limit. Analysis by health groups has found some supermarket American muffins contain more than the recommended adult daily dose of sugar. The daily limit is seven teaspoons of sugar – and some of the cakes were found to contain as much as eight teaspoons. Among the most sugary were McDonalds, Prêt A Manger and Tesco. El método exquisito para organizarnos El método Bullet Journal es la promesa milagrosa para organizar el caos de la vida moderna que lleva unos años petándolo. Cientos de miles de personas en todo el mundo lo siguen, compartiendo consejos en internet sobre cómo llevarlo a cabo de la manera más efectiva y bonita. Porque estas agendas DIY, además de un sistema de organización, son un fenómeno viral en torno al que ha surgido toda una comunidad. Su creador es el diseñador neoyorquino Ryder Carroll que, después de intentar organizarse por todos los medios con aplicaciones, calendarios y programas sin que nada funcionara, dio con su propio método. Se trataba simplemente de volver a lo básico. Para ponerlo en marcha solo necesitó una libreta (cualquiera vale) y un bolígrafo. Con este sistema analógico acabó encontrando no solo la efectividad que buscaba sino también una forma poco estresante de repartirse el tiempo según sus propios estándares y grados de importancia. El sistema es tan sencillo como anotar tareas, eventos y notas en el espacio dedicado al día que corresponda. A estas tareas solo hay que dedicarles una sola línea a cada una y distinguirlas asignándole un símbolo. Carroll propone un punto para las tareas, un círculo para los eventos y un guión para las
notas pero cada usuario puede usar los suyos propios. En el caso de necesitar desarrollar más en profundidad alguna de estas entradas puedes hacer un desglose más amplio en la página de al lado. Sobre todo es importante que el cuaderno tenga una estructura por lo que el primer paso, una vez hayas elegido tu libreta, es numerar las páginas y elaborar un índice con los temas que quieres incluir. Una vez los tengas solo hay que especificar dicha sección en una esquina superior cada página como, por ejemplo, “tareas pendientes”, “cumpleaños” u “objetivos mensuales”. La clave del método es que tú elijas el contenido según tus preferencias. Tú decides también el diseño. No te agobies con la dedicación artística que algunos han decidido prestarle. Los dibujitos son opcionales y el bullet journal es igual de efectivo si decides simplemente escribirlo con tu letra normal. El éxito ha sido tan rotundo que su creador acaba de publicar un libro, El método Bullet Journal (Planeta, 2018). I am living in some kind of macabre nightmare, on the night that Sampson died my wife was understandably very upset, I gave her my full support as any loving husband would. After the initial shock I was hoping things would get back to normal, imagine my horror when, returning from work, I find my wife has decapitated ‘Sampson’ with the intention of having his head stuffed so as to hang it above the bed. God knows I am an understanding guy but this has got to be wrong. While searching for a taxidermist is more of a challenge for my wife, ‘Sampson’s head is in our freezer. Please help, I am a good many years older than my wife, so you can imagine what kind of fears this is conjuring-up for me. Terrified... Malaga.
