Dominique Thovex is in de streek geboren, houdt van het dal en kent alle schatten hier op zijn duimpje. Hij is de Mijnheer Erfgoed van La Clusaz. Tussen geschiedenis, wandeltochten door de bergen, een zinnelijke pauze en de uitzichten op het dorp deelt hij zijn favoriete plekken met u om u kennis te laten maken met de charme van het dal. U kunt hem vertrouwen, hij kent het skistation als zijn broekzak. Wij hebben deze geboren en getogen bewoner van La Clusaz dan ook carte blanche gegeven! Volg de gids!

ADMIRE THE SUNRISE OVER THE TOPS OF THE VILLAGE

To start the day well, there is nothing better than a beautiful view over the valley. I would take you to the Christ Roi which is an ideal, easy hike for a stunning view over La Clusaz, the Aravis range and the Beauregard massif. It is not complicated at all; you just need is to take the Tour du Village path! The path goes up towards the Aqua park and then climbs up to the ecological path, where you will find information boards about the local flora. A few steps more and you are almost there, as you emerge from the shade of the trees the track leads to scree with a wooden sculpture at its centre, the “Oratoire du Christ Roi” representing Christ with a royal crown rather than the traditional crown of thorns. In the early hours of the morning, the sun rises behind the Aravis range and as the rays of the sun pass over the peaks, the green alpine meadows appear lit up. From there, you can return from where you came or continue the hike along the surrounding tracks that take you back round to the village…

HAVE A TASTY SNACK AT THE CORBASSIÈRES FARM AND WALK BACK DOWN VIA THE FÉRIAZ LAKE

For a lovely outing at altitude, take the Beauregard cable car from the village, it takes about 15 mins. Once up top, you get an amazing 360° view over the massif and neighbouring valleys. Once you have taken in as much of the view as you wish (some people stay for hours!) walk down towards La Clusaz along the path that follows the MTB track. After passing the Piste Bleue hotel-restaurant on the left, the path leads down through meadows and the forest. In the summer you often find blueberries to nibble on along the way, I won’t reveal my secret picking zones though (laughs)! The Corbassières farm stands out on the track below, festooned with flowers and cow bells, a perfect place for an afternoon tea at the farm or a delicious meal made with cheese from the farm. Once you have filled up on delicious local produce, follow the path down towards the Fériaz lake and take a break here to admire the view over the forest before heading back into the forest and to the village. Once you arrive at the village, you’ll just want to head back up! More experienced hikers can replace the cable car ascent with a hike up to the meadows on the plateau.

DE ZONSOPGANG BEWONDEREN OP DE BERGEN ROND HET DORP

Niets is beter dan een prachtig uitzicht over het dal om de dag goed te beginnen. Ik neem u mee naar Christ Roi, eenvoudig toegankelijk voor iedereen! Een ideale kleine wandeling om La Clusaz, de Aravisketen en het Massif de Beauregard te bewonderen. Het is niet ingewikkeld, we nemen gewoon het pad van de Tour du Village! De route stijgt in de richting van het aquapark en klimt vervolgens naar het ecologische pad toe. Langs deze klim staan borden die de lokale flora beschrijven. Enkele tientallen meters hoger zijn wij bijna op onze bestemming, de laatste haarspeldbochten brengen ons onder de bomen uit en het spoor leidt naar een ‘pierrier’ waarin het Oratoire du Christ Roi troont. Een houten beeld van Christus met een koningskroon en dus niet de traditionele doornenkroon. ‘s Ochtends vroeg komt de zon op achter de Aravisketen en als de eerste zonnestralen over de toppen heenkomen, licht het groen van de Alpenweiden op. Nu kunt u terugkeren of de wandeltocht voortzetten over de paden in de omgeving die afdalen naar het dorp.

EVEN PAUZEREN MET LEKKERNIJEN IN DE FERME DES CORBASSIÈRES EN AFDALEN VIA HET LAC DE LA FÉRIAZ

Voor een mooie excursie in de bergen stel ik u voor om van het dorp naar de Pointe de Beauregard te gaan met de kabellift met dezelfde naam, dat duurt ongeveer een kwartier. Op de top hebben we een onbelemmerd uitzicht over het dal, de bergen en de naburige dalen. Nadat we zo lang we dat willen van dit uitzicht genoten hebben - voor sommigen is dat urenlang - dalen we af naar La Clusaz via een afgebakend pad dat langs de crossfietspistes loopt. We gaan rechts langs Hôtel-restaurant La piste Bleue en blijven afdalen tussen de Alpenweiden en het bos. Het kan best zijn dat u hier midden in de zomer bosbessen vindt. Ik ga u niet verklappen waar ik die vind (lacht), maar ze zijn altijd erg lekker om meteen op te eten of om een voorraadje aan te leggen voor later! Maar we dwalen af ... De Ferme de Corbassières wordt lager zichtbaar. Dit Alpenchalet is altijd herkenbaar aan zijn bloemen en zijn bellen. Het is een ideale plek voor een vieruurtje of een lekkere traditionele maaltijd met heerlijke kazen die ter plaatse worden gerijpt. Nadat we nieuwe krachten hebben opgedaan met de lokale producten, dalen we verder af langs het pad. Verderop wordt het Lac de la Fériaz zichtbaar. Daar zijn we al snel en houden we weer even stil om een laatste keer te profiteren van het uitzicht op het dal, voordat we weer het bos induiken tot het dorp. En als we beneden zijn, willen we maar één ding: terug! Liefhebbers van dagtochten kunnen in plaats van met de kabellift te voet naar de Alpenweiden op de hoogvlakte gaan.
