2020 Destination Themes
"Some of the top themes for destination weddings that will allow self-expression in 2020 will have a large focus on eco-conscious decisions. The themes will gravitate around our existing base concepts with unique and modern twists: - Luscious Textural Greenery - mixed textured greens with luscious tropical influences, gold accents, luscious florals, and textured elements.
- Fresh Decedent Elegance - Clean and fresh monochromatic colour pallet with luxury floral blooms, decor and statement pieces.

- DayDream Traveller - This theme is about the experiences couples are creating on their journey together. In 2020 DayDream Traveller is about finding that one breathtaking out of the box location that creates the most spectacular imagery. Whilst accompanied by one or two statement pieces it is designed to immerse the guests in the experience and creating last memories with minimalist breathtaking decor t hat enhances t he surroundings.
- Retro Twist - Keeping the splashes of retro in full swing with the added elements of the country and added an edge of vintage to their decor. Retro is still as vibrant with the added infusion of softer tones. This theme is everything and more in 2020 when music and reminiscing about the good old times infuse to create a fun and edgy experience.
I see that florals will continue to move away from structured designs with brides and grooms opting for fully bespoke designs that are unpackaged, unstructured and possess natural fragrance. We will see a move from muted, soft and rich tones to bolder, brighter and st ronger colours moving into 2020."

"Adventure and action packed programs are increasingly popular, with the luxury vibe still strong for celebrity, high fashion influenced clients. And naturally an authentic family celebration hosted in a low key, rustic villa, vineyard, or chateaux will be themed around the season, surroundings and locality. Next generation clients looking to reduce their impact on the environment and support sustainability are opting for a pared back, hands on, and less is more theme."

"We are seeing couples plan more intimate details that celebrate their unique love story, rather than plan a theme. Serving wine that the couple drank on their first date, gifting favors from their favorite stores, incorporating favorite movie quotes and song lyrics into vows."
Kristin Watkins, Owner and Lead Designer, Stephanie Rose Events
"I don't think there are top themes for destination weddings. I think our couples want to see their personality, their common history and not a specific theme reflected in their wedding."
Pilar Herrero, Owner, Pilar Herrero Wedding & Event Planner
"Couples are taking inspiration from the wedding location and surrounding areas to embrace the area and country that they have chosen.."
Jane Riddell, Owner & Creative Director, Planned for Perfection
"Not too much on the theme side, but I think navy will be a base/neutral color with the accent being what they focus on."
