Top Wedding Cake & Sweet Trends
It's becoming extremely popular that couples are making their cake the centrepiece to their wedding, which is obviously exciting for us as cake stand makers! People are getting adventurous and going bold, really seeking something innovative and special to take their cake to the next level. The art of hand painted cakes is a championing favourite along with the natural, clean colour palettes which are perfect for the trendy, boho wedding that have dominated over the past few years with variations of the semi naked cake popping up everywhere. Contradicting the softer styles, geometric is in and here to stay, the industry has just got started with experimenting this one.

I expect to see a lot of elegance in the simplicity of cakes. Natural elements - woods, greenery, neutral palettes - are still trending in Colorado and clean cakes compliment any wedding, versus overshadowing colors and florals that are already going on. Matte/metallic finishes (rose gold, opaques and grays) with floral finesse is a sure fire 2020 wedding cake guide.

New and exciting flavors will be the next big thing for wedding cakes. A custom, signature flavor that was created by the wedding couple will take center stage and pay homage to t heir personality. We will also see bright, vibrant flavors, particularly more passionfruit and guava, pistachio-cherry, pineapple and pink champagne.
Simple elegance was the theme for 2019 and will continue into 2020. We will continue to see rustic buttercream textures, but with a touch of refinement and cleaner lines. We're also seeing that we will be using traditional florals for decorating, but also more natural elements such as citrus fruits, fresh berries, and edible flowers.
Buttercream textures with lots of greenery make for a more dimensional dessert, as well as hand-painted elements that pop on a simple, smoothly iced cake with touches of gold brushing.

Next season is all about the WOW dessert table. Think a huge table jam-packed with every single sweet treat you could imagine, including everything from intricately decorated biscuits to hand crafted macarons. A dessert table is all about impact and decadence so yes a cake should be featured as the centre piece but all the delicious truffles and treats are as important to the overall look. Couples want their guests to be blown away by the sweet centrepiece.
