Did you follow tradition and have something old, new, borrowed & blue on your wedding day?

My something old was my engagement ring. It was my grandmother’s ring, which she actually bought for herself!

My something blue was my mom’s garter that she wore on her wedding day. The something new were my shiny Valentino Rockstud heels, swoon!

In terms of designing the look and feel of your wedding, where did you find your style inspiration?

I actually found all the inspiration I needed through magazine editorials. Interview and W are my favourites at the moment.

I went for an edgier look with my studded Valentino heels and boned corset dress.

How would you describe the style of your wedding?

My wedding was an absolute fantasy. My mom and I planned everything around one amazing flower wall. It was the ultimate romantic wedding and setting, and felt like a fairytale. The weather was perfect and the sunset KILLED.

We’d love to know about all the outfits and accessories you wore for the day of, and other wedding-related events leading up to and following your wedding. Are there any special stories about any of the items?

I wore a black leather and tulle T-strap gown by Stacey Bendet

by Alice and Olivia to my engagement party at Boehmer on Ossington in Toronto. My shoes were Blue suede Lita boots by Jeffrey Campbell.

E N G AG E M E N T PA RT Y:

I wore a simple white flowy Free People dress to my bridal shower with strappy sandals. We went on a duffy boat ride in Newport Beach, so flats were necessary.

B R I DA L S H OW E R :

I wore a T by Alexander Wang sporty white dress and simple Steve Madden strappy black heels.

R E H E A R SA L D I N N E R :

My dress was Monique Lhuillier from White Toronto and I also wore a veil from White. I purchased my Valentino Rockstud heels just a week before my wedding day!

W E D D I N G DAY:

I wore a Stone Cold Fox tuxedo dress as my dancing dress - it was a total favourite.

Let’s talk about your evening wear collection. As someone who is known first and foremost as a bridal designer, what inspired you to branch out and create an evening wear line?

I have actually been creating evening wear for private clients for many years, in addition to designing bridal, and over the past two years we have been preparing the company to launch ready-to-wear evening, as we felt it was the right moment.

I love to design beautiful, unique pieces but at the same time, it’s important to me that new collections are well thought out, and that we are able to preserve our high level of service for our accounts and our customers. We already have so much interest in the pieces, it’s exciting!

What did you have in mind when you were designing this latest collection?

This collection began to take shape during a recent mini vacation in New York. I love art and spent time at both MoMA and The Met to visit some long-time favorites of mine. You can’t help but be inspired by the brush strokes and paint colors of modern and contemporary art.

INES DI SANTO Do you have a favourite gown in particular?

My favorite is always the next one we are creating! I love the design process.

What is inspiring you this month?

We are playing with deconstruction in a shoot this month. To celebrate delivering some of our favorite looks from the Spring 2016 Bridal Collection, we’ll be revealing ‘behind the scenes’ imagery of the design progression, but in reverse. I like to be able to share what I love about the process with others; it intrigues and inspires.

If you were a colour palette made up of at least two colours, what would they be?

My answer today would be broad strokes of pastels, lightly anchored by a touch of primary colour and black.
