I founded WedLuxe as a daughter of design. Eleven years ago (which truthfully feels like yesterday!), I saw a vacancy when it came to showcasing the marriage of interior, fashion, graphics, textiles, architecture, and other forms of design with weddings. It continues to be a joy to celebrate design in this way, and it’s amazing to see how the world of weddings continues to evolve as contributors and readers become more globally aware than ever. Social media has erased borders, resulting in new inspiration being served up by the second! It’s an exciting time to be a design enthusiast, yet one thing remains true: there is nothing that makes a statement more than bold and beautiful patterns! This issue, we were inspired by prints, patterns, and collaborations between artists of differing genres and how these statement pieces and projects influence the luxury wedding industry. In this issue’s Real Weddings, our couples and their creative partners stopped at nothing to create memorable, statement-making events! From large-scale floral floor decals, to walls made entirely of flowers, the bold design choices resulted in standout events that we hope will inspire you in planning your own big day. Starting on page 70, we showcase the brilliant work and statement concepts produced by our WedLuxe Glitterati Members. The seven featured collaborations between florists, planners, stationers, photographers, and other luxury wedding professionals are a love letter to statement print and pattern—ranging from stark black and white stripes to vibrant Batik textiles. Each pattern was brought to life through these styled shoots in ways that are nothing short of inspiring. On page 116, our team explored pattern and light with ‘Light Matters,’ photographing the latest patterned and textured bridal fashion at the Aga Khan Museum in Toronto, Ontario, a venue that in itself is a pure celebration of pattern, design, and architecture. Before I sign off, please allow me to personally invite you to our sixth annual WedLuxe Show, taking place in Toronto on Sunday, January 15th, 2017. H
oda emami and amir hessam bahreman met through mutual friends in 2015. “it was love at first sight,” says hoda. the pair instantly felt a connection and found themselves lost in conversation for hours; it was evident from that moment that they were going to be inseparable. One evening, the couple was planning on going out for dinner to celebrate Amir’s birthday when suddenly, just before they were about to leave, Amir took Hoda by surprise. He began to tell her how much she meant to him and how much he loved her. Hoda did not realize what was happening until Amir got down on one knee and presented her with a spectacular ring. Through her tears, she happily said “yes!” to spending the rest of her life with him.
The bride wore a Galia Lahav gown purchased from panache boutique in Beverly Hills. Her earrings were designed by George Agopian of lugaro jewellers. Her necklace and earrings were designed by the groom and custom made by mozafarian jewellers.
The couple quickly settled on a glam, floral-filled, fairytale-worthy wedding and worked with Soha Lavin of countdown events planning & design, who provided full-service planning and design assistance, resulting in a spectacular affair. “Soha and her team were very creative and made the experience of planning the wedding worry-free and above all else, fun,” shares Hoda. To achieve the glam, and completely customized vision Hoda had in mind, there was no better person to have by her side than her twin sister (and maid of honour), Neda Emami, who also happens to be the Creative Director of éclat decor inc. Neda and her team spent hours designing and finessing every detail, providing their decor design services and decor rentals. Tina and Hassan Aghamohseni of tala florist created the lush floral designs for the wedding.
Amir designed Hoda’s engagement ring and wedding band, which were produced by david levi & sons jewelers. Amir’s wedding band was purchased from cartier.

A FULL-CIRCLE CEREMONY
Hoda and Amir were wed on July 30, 2016, at the fairmont pacific rim. Hoda had always dreamed of having a wedding outdoors, but preferred the feeling of a luxurious indoor ceremony. The tala florist and éclat decor inc. teams gave Hoda the best of both worlds and created an intimate indoor setting inspired by the Versailles Gardens. “I couldn’t believe my eyes when the doors opened and I walked down the aisle,” says Hoda. A series of botanical arches accented with suspended crystal chandeliers lined the aisle with large white arrangements composed of hydrangea, delphinium, and a combination of David Austin roses, English Garden roses, and Spray roses placed on transparent pillars in between each arch. The white aisle runner was lined with floating candles in glass vases. The Sofreh table sat on a stage against a backdrop of floral and greenery-covered walls. “I wanted a Sofreh that was contemporary and unique, but still romantic,” says Hoda, “and Neda couldn’t have designed it any better.” Every item on the table was custom made by Éclat Decor Inc. for the event. Hundreds of roses were peeled back by hand one petal at a time to achieve a lush, fully bloomed look. Amidst this heavenly oasis, with their family and closest friends present, Amir and Hoda became husband and wife.
The maid of honour and flower girl wore dresses designed by Manuel Mendoza Couture. Guests entered the reception area through wrought iron gates rented from art of the party design, which were then wrapped in garlands of greenery and white blooms by Tala Florist under Soha Lavin’s direction.
After the ceremony, guests convened in the Star Sapphire Ballroom of the Fairmont Pacific Rim. The couple entered the ballroom to percussionist Morris Hedvat performing the couple’s favourite Persian song while guests tossed fragrant rose petals onto them. “It was such a magical moment,” Hoda recalls. The custom made walkway was covered in a faux-marble vinyl designed and produced by Éclat Decor Inc.

A SPARKLING SETTING
The éclat decor inc. and countdown events planning & design teams worked together to transform the venue into a sparkling setting. The ballroom was draped in white, sheer fabric by Éclat Decor Inc., who also provided white silk linens and crystal chargers rimmed with a gold pearl detail. Every inch of the space was overflowing with flowers designed by tala florist, achieving Hoda’s

vision of a heavenly, fragrant, floral-filled garden. To create a modern set up, the long guest dining tables featured two different designs. Tables featured candelabras and crystal candleholders with a floral runner covering the length of the tables. Alternating floral arrangements housed in French white urns were wrapped in blooms that cascaded onto the tables.
Hoda and Amir watched over the festivities from their own stage that featured a personal seating area. A white chaise with a hydrangea garland sat adjacent to a 9-ft tall floral tree. The tree featured hanging crystal chandeliers, adding an extra dose of sparkle.

The focal point of the room was the curved head table decorated in a series of cloud-like centrepieces, composed of roses, orchids, and pink anemones flown in from Holland. These designs sat atop transparent pillars creating the illusion that they were floating in mid-air.

éclat decor inc. created a custom crystal chandelier with over 12,000 crystals for the reception. This design was placed above the blush-hued flower printed dance floor, which Éclat Decor Inc. also designed.

life studios inc. was on hand to capture the spectacular event on film for the couple. The fairmont pacific rim catered the wedding meal. DJ Mohsen from radio javan provided musical entertainment for guests both before and after dinner was served. The pair currently resides in La Jolla, California where Hoda is a civil engineer and Amir is a physician. For their honeymoon, the newlyweds intend on travelling to the South of France.
Tanya Muller of le gateau bake shop designed a four-tier white fondant cake inspired by Hoda’s wedding gown. The design featured a 24-karat gold pearl border and cascading sugar flowers. The cake was presented on a tall crystal pillar, which was draped in a floral garland. The design was intertwined with a 7-ft tall chandelier from Éclat Decor Inc., which hung suspended beside the pillar, illuminating the cake.

elissa brown met ashton kerzner on a blind date in 2014. melissa had been living in new york city, and ashton was residing in vancouver, so it took a lot of outside forces to bring them together. at the time, a friend of melissa’s brother was dating ashton’s brother, and the two decided to try their hands at matchmaking. They concocted a plan to get Melissa and Ashton together, and although the geographic separation proved to be a bit of a roadblock initially, Ashton finally took a leap of faith and flew to New York City to take Melissa out on their first date. Instantly after their first date, they realized they shared a unique connection and decided to go out on a limb and give a long-distance relationship a try. However, the novelty of long-distance dating got old relatively quickly, and Melissa moved to Vancouver in 2015, sharing with us that, “it was the best decision of my life.” On December 6, 2015, Ashton proposed to Melissa in their kitchen. Melissa had always dreamed of an elaborate proposal, but instead Ashton caught her completely off guard by proposing with three flavoured ring pops, which Ashton said were to act as a placeholder until she selected the perfect ring. Melissa played along with this scenario and put on one of the ring pops before heading into the kitchen to get a glass of water and to start calling family and friends with the good news. When she opened the fridge, her perfect ring was sitting right in front of her. To commemorate this moment, the ring pops have since been framed and now hang in the couple’s living room. The couple’s “Enchanted Garden”-themed wedding on July 3, 2016 was held in the backyard of Ashton’s grandfather’s home. The couple exchanged vows underneath a 10-ft tall chuppah constructed by scene ideas with a rabbi officiating the ceremony. Philip Coppieters and Rene Marcoux of living design décor created a space that was just as Melissa envisioned—elegant and delicate. Before the ceremony, white pashminas were thoughtfully placed on the backs of the lucite chairs to ensure guests were cozy and warm. The existing garden and blooms offered the perfect lush setting for the chuppah, which was accented with greenery and delicate white flowers by v & j plant shop.
Pat Rekert of in any event design inc. was on-hand to manage the setup of the event and installations, and Philip Coppieters and Rene Marcoux of Living Design Décor provided decor design services, fine-tuning the overall look and feel of the event, playing a crucial role in creating Melissa’s dream wedding. The couple’s laser-cut, garden-inspired ketubah designed by Danny Azoulay was sourced from ketubah.com
The bride wore a lace Ines Di Santo gown from bisou bridal paired with a bracelet designed by Ashton’s parents, and her grandmother’s blue ribbon tied around her ankle. Her bridesmaids were all dressed in long, black gowns from jenny yoo and carried bunches of long-stemmed calla lilies. The groomsmen wore Jean Yves tuxedos from black & lee and the best men wore Ralph Lauren tuxedos. www.wedl u xe.com

The newlyweds’ reception was also held outdoors in a 22-ft tall tent constructed by amazing tents and events that was decorated with twelve glittering suspended crystal chandeliers. A combination of long and round dining tables featured both high, winding, tree-like centrepieces and low vessels filled with white and dusty roses, peonies, and lush greenery designed by v & j plant shop. cakes by nicole designed a 6-tier wedding cake with raspberry filling, decorated with delicate sugar ruffles. Three feathery, blush sugar peonies decorated the design. “They were dainty and exquisite and looked too real to eat,” shares Melissa.
An ice sculpture was provided by cool creations and featured the newlyweds’ custom monogram designed by wedge and lever.

A live band from side one entertainment performed for the couple and their guests during their first dance and after dinner. “I was initially nervous about the band as they can make or break the wedding, but they blew us away!” says Melissa. girl on wax DJ’d while guests danced the evening away. vincent + theo provided cinematography services for the occasion and av strategies provided lighting/AV services. Both Melissa and Ashton work for rocky mountain chocolate factory, so it was only fitting that they gifted their guests with boxes featuring a layer of candy pearls and filled with delectable truffle bombs. Ashton, a travel fanatic, planned the couple’s honeymoon himself and didn’t let Melissa in on the plan until they had checked in at the airport. She thought they were flying to Mexico City as he had purchased tickets for the destination to throw her off, but they were actually en route to Asia. The couple visited Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand staying at the St. Regis and the Conrad hotels during their travels.
The evening culminated with a surprise performance from voc sweet soul gospel choir. The singers led a large procession to the street, leading guests to their next destination—the after party at pierre’s lounge in Yaletown. “It was the true cherry on top and was the best end to the night!” exclaims Melissa.

love by phoebe designed a stationery suite featuring a hand-painted peony motif. Envelopes were lined with a hand-painted floral paper and finished with a seal of the couple’s custom monogram, which featured two elephants kissing—a symbol with special meaning for the couple.
Fiona wore a Vera Wang gown from blush bridal. Evan of flowerz created a bouquet comprised of over 65 fragrant peonies.
F
iona chang and binh tran first met in 2007 at a mutual friend’s house, neither expecting the meaningful relationship that was about to transpire. initially, they built a foundation of a strong friendship rooted deeply in respect before their relationship slowly developed into something romantic. The couple had been dating for approximately seven years when Binh proposed during an intimate, cliffside candlelit dinner to celebrate Fiona’s champagne birthday (her 26th birthday on the 26th of October).
The overall design of the wedding was inspired by Fiona’s favourite flower, the peony. When she met with her event planner, Alicia Keats of alicia keats weddings + events (who provided full-service planning and design assistance), Fiona shared her single request, that her wedding be filled with the lush, fluffy flower. To execute a wedding abundant in stunning peonies, they enlisted Evan Orion of flowerz to design all of the flowers for the wedding, with over 10,000 peonies used in all of the floral arrangements! Fiona and Binh were wed on June 11, 2016, at the vancouver club’s University Room while a trio from musical occasions performed. “I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house,” shares Fiona.

A ROMANTIC RECEPTION
The custom made blush-coloured aisle by Evan Orion of flowerz and koncept event design was delicately lined with scattered fresh petals and lit candles to create an air of romance in the room. For an elegant focal point, Evan created a draped canopy composed of blush linens and bunches of pink and ivory peonies. After a long courtship, it was especially sentimental for their family and friends to see the pair become husband and wife in such a dreamy setting. After the ceremony, the couple and their guests moved into the Ballroom, where their dinner reception was held. When entering

the ballroom, guests walked through a peony-covered arch designed by Flowerz and Koncept Event Design, who also provided all of the beautiful floral and decor design, rentals, and uplighting. Guests dined at long tables from a&b partytime rentals ltd., which were covered in blush shantung linens from Koncept Event Design. Gold rimmed glassware from upright decor added a subtle touch of sparkle to each place setting. Peony-filled gold vases from Koncept Event Design were grouped together down the centre of each table, creating a bountiful floral runner effect.

Every window of the ballroom was framed with custom sheer blush linens topped with a peony accented valance. Evan used over 500 peonies for each window design! “They were so breathtaking, and I loved that the design was so different and never done before,” says Fiona.

Guests were treated to a delectable five-course meal catered by the vancouver club, presented with exceptional fully synchronized, white-glove service. The one moment that Fiona will never forget was Binh’s speech during the reception. “He dedicated parts of the speech to our families, our friends, and to me. He said parts in Chinese, parts in Vietnamese, and parts in English. I loved how thoughtful this was—it was such a heartfelt and warm moment, and it definitely had me in tears,” recalls Fiona fondly. After dinner, guests were invited to indulge in sweets from a decadent dessert table that was placed in front of a spectacular floral wall composed of 700 peonies. cakes by nicole designed the couple’s cake, which featured a bottom tier decorated entirely in pink ombré sugar petals. Hand-painted cookies from letterpress bakery, and candy from karameller candy shop inc. and Sugarfina at nordstrom completed this delightfully sweet, pink presentation. The Vancouver Club provided a midnight Chinese buffet that kept guests satisfied and energized for more dancing. Once the famous players band started performing, guests continued partying on a white vinyl dance floor designed by koncept event design. Naturally, in addition to custom made, peony scented candles from yummi candles, each guest went home with an armful of fragrant peonies! It was the perfect takeaway from this peony-packed celebration. For the reception, Fiona wore a red dress designed by Lover.
For their honeymoon, the couple plans on travelling to Europe to visit Croatia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Greece, and if time permits, Italy. “Binh loves spending time at the beach and I love discovering new places,” shares Fiona, “so visiting Europe gives us the perfect mix of both!”

Teresa Sena of teresa sena designs created the floral designs for the wedding. Keeping with the deconstructed garden theme, she created a full bouquet of white blooms, including fragrant tuberose, and cascading greens.
Justine wore an Ivy & Aster gown from frocks bridal boutique in Calgary, Alberta. She pinned an arrangement of delicate flowers from Teresa Sena of Teresa Sena Designs into her hair and completed her look with Givenchy earrings from nordstrom.
J
ustine and adam fortuitously met on halloween in 2008. both of them had previously made other arrangements, but their plans had fallen through and they both happened to end up at the same bar. Dressed as a police officer and a hockey player, the two struck up a conversation and talked the night away. Exactly five years later, Adam proposed during a special date night at home. He filled their house with white candles and flowers and surprised Justine with a five-course meal prepared by a private chef. After dinner, Adam presented a slideshow of photos detailing the course of their relationship to a soundtrack of their favourite songs. The final photo in the slideshow was one showcasing their best friends in Las Vegas holding a sign that read, “Congratulations! See you tomorrow!” Trying to put everything together, Justine looked over at Adam who was kneeling down and holding a ring, ready to propose and begin the next chapter in their journey as a couple. The next day, the couple flew to Las Vegas to celebrate with their friends.
SECRET GARDEN CEREMONY
The couple were married on June 11, 2016, at the stunning haiku mill property in Maui, Hawaii. Maui had been the first place Justine and Adam visited together, so it always had a special place in their hearts. When the time came to decide on a wedding location, the couple didn’t hesitate in the slightest, they knew it had to be Maui. Lindsay Miller of elements by k.h & co. helped the couple plan a romantic, ethereal Hawaiian wedding and provided full-service planning and decor design services. A colour palette of white and accenting neutrals was integrated into the design, letting the existing natural elements of the outdoor venue take centre stage.
Justine and Adam opted for a modern ceremony and incorporated traditional Hawaiian customs; their officiant performed a Hawaiian chant, and the couple exchanged leis. Guests were even entertained with a ukulele performance by Marvin Tevaga during the ceremony. The earthy environment was decorated in vines with suspended crystal strands and a crystal chandelier creating the elegant ‘Secret Garden’- inspired wedding that Justine had long envisioned.

simply ink designed blush ombré place cards along with the table numbers featured on wooden planks. The dinner menu was showcased on an antique mirror from Pua Le’a at Haiku Mill featuring a design by miss b calligraphy.
Guests dined at a long, raw wood farm table provided by signature event rentals decorated with unstructured centrepieces of rose geranium leaves, green hydrangea, Polo garden roses, Bells of Ireland, Majolica spray roses, Italian Ruscus, and pink Astilbe. Refined, dark wood accents were brought into the space, allowing the lush, green arrangements and the glittering green glassware provided by set maui to shine. Ecru hemstitch napkins from island rents added an element of texture to the place settings. Sporadically placed succulent plants added a botanical element to the rich design. The groom’s Chiavari chair from Island Rents was accented with a green garland, and the bride’s chair was covered in delicate lei strands. A massive crystal chandelier from Signature Event Rentals was suspended over the table directly above the couple and decorated in vines, creating a striking focal point for the newlyweds that delicately illuminated the heavenly oasis. cake fanatics designed the two-tier wedding cake. Having never travelled to Italy before, the couple decided to visit Rome before journeying down the Amalfi Coast where they spent the remainder of their blissful honeymoon. “It was absolutely picturesque and filled with the most amazing food and wine,” shares Justine.

The arrangement was tied with a blush satin sash and accented with a pearl and crystal brooch.

lly jalali and ioan pablo palacios first crossed paths at the university of connecticut’s school of dental medicine on july 2, 2012, their first day of orientation as dental residents. when ioan first spotted elly sitting a few rows in front of him, he admits he couldn’t take his eyes away from her. At that moment, he promised himself that he would win her over and he indeed followed through on that promise. They soon began spending time with one another and every day Ioan would surprise Elly with notes on her locker door, under her windshield wipers, and at her work station in the Radiology department. It quickly became evident to Elly how effortlessly happy she was when they were together and since then, they’ve been by each other’s sides. Ioan proposed three years later on December 29, 2015. The couple was walking along Coal Harbour in Vancouver when, just as the sun was setting, Ioan fell to one knee, took Elly’s hand and asked if she would let him see her beautiful smile for the rest of his life. Through her tears, Elly didn’t hesitate before agreeing and letting Ioan place the ring on her finger. The couple were wed on July 2, 2016, in a ‘Romantic Floral Glam’ celebration, which they achieved with the help of Haleh Tafteh of details by haleh, who provided full-service planning and design assistance, and Sahar Sarband of modern mint event coordinators inc., who provided same-day coordination. The couple sourced their invitations from paperless post, which were inspired by the couple’s Latin and Persian cultures. Elly and Ioan selected invitations from Oscar de la Renta’s line of stationery with the late designer’s Latin background in mind, featuring an ikat and floral design.
As a nod to their respective Latin and Persian backgrounds, the couple first exchanged vows in a traditional Catholic ceremony at holy rosary cathedral church, where Reverend Pablo Santa Maria performed an impressive ceremony. “It brought tears of happiness to guests’ eyes. He was very kind, patient, and insightful throughout the entire process,” says Elly.

FAIRYTALE FUSION After the church ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests convened at the fairmont waterfront hotel for the Persian ceremony. Tall pillars with hanging crystals lined the aisle and showcased round arrangements of orchids, roses, hydrangea, and peonies. When guests entered the space, their eyes were immediately drawn to the spectacular peony-covered wall that was placed behind

the couple’s Sofreh table. details by haleh designed the plexiglass Sofreh, and collaborated with Hassan Aghamohseni of tala florist on the clustered floral designs that decorated the table. Framing the couple were two umbrella-like arrangements comprised of orchids, roses, hydrangea, hanging orchid leis, and crystal strands. It was the embodiment of Elly’s “floral glam” vision.
HANGING GARDEN
A reception in the ballroom followed, where a blush and white glimmering crystal oasis awaited guests. To create a multidimensional tablescape design, orchid and hydrangea centrepieces designed by tala florist appeared to float above tables, which created clear sight lines allowing guests to engage in unobstructed conversation. Crystal beads and glass bubbles offered an additional glittering effect, and a compact floral runner of lush hydrangea completed the mesmerizing design. Round tables were decorated with tall crystal candelabras accented with roses, orchids, peonies, and hydrangea with hanging crystal strands. During the reception, guests were seated on crystal Chiavari chairs with ivory cushions from upright decor, who also provided the pink satin and sequin linens for the occasion.
Three oversized crystal chandeliers were suspended over the dance floor for additional ambient lighting. Tala Florist decorated these chandeliers with garlands of white orchids for a textured result. “They instantly gave a touch of opulence to the setting and offered the most ambient, magical lighting,” shares Elly.

The couple’s five-tier wedding cake designed by ganache patisserie could only be described as gravity-defying! The cake’s design reflected the design of the bride’s wedding gown and featured a pink fondant base, an intricate white stencilled design, quilted pattern, white ribbons, and edible crystals, with sugar blush peonies decorating the top tier. The cake was resting on a bed of fragrant roses, peonies, orchids, and hydrangea, which was suspended from the ceiling with crystal chains.

One of the couple’s favourite moments was when the legendary Andy Madadian and his band surprised the couple with a performance arranged by the bride’s parents.

The design highlight of the venue was undoubtedly the backdrop behind the couple’s head table. upright decor draped the wall in ivory velvet fabric with a sheer overlay that featured a wall of pillar candles with a waterfall of orchids.

The fairmont waterfront hotel catered the wedding meal and psav offered AV services at the reception. In addition to photographing the wedding, hong photography and cinema inc. provided cinematography services for the occasion. “We were in love with everything and if we could go back, we probably would have just tried to enjoy every minute that much more!” shares Elly. The couple now resides in Miami and both work in the dental industry, helping other people smile as beautifully as they do when they are by each other’s sides. The newlyweds plan on visiting the Galápagos Islands in December of this year to celebrate their union and discover the incredible islands while seeing rare creatures and enjoying the white sand beaches.
Both the groom and the bride’s cultures were represented throughout the reception in the Flamenco dancers from karen flamenco dance studio and the Turkish dancers from chicaklar dance group who performed a traditional Lezgi dance.

lnaz jahankhani and sunny dhillon were first introduced by mutual friends in 2013 when they were dining at adesso bistro in vancouver, one of elnaz’s favourite restaurants. the pair learned they had much in common and soon after met for their first date, where they rendezvoused at the original Glowbal Grill Steaks & Satay in Yaletown. The rest was history.
One of Elnaz’s favourite hotels in Vancouver happens to be the rosewood hotel georgia. Armed with this knowledge, Sunny planned a full day of activities at the hotel for her 30th birthday. Unbeknownst to her, Sunny had something a little more special in mind than just a spa day and had reserved the entire patio, which had been decorated with flowers and candles. When they reached the heavenly space, Sunny surprised Elnaz and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him. As a luxury wedding planner and owner of paisley events inc., Elnaz was well-prepared to take on the task of planning her wedding. When planning her dream day, Elnaz drew from her background in interior design and incorporated her admiration of French Provincial into the chosen pastel colour palette. “The goal was to astound all of the guests the moment they entered the ballroom,” shares Elnaz. The finished product was a reflection of something from the Disney movie, “Beauty and the Beast,” thanks to the assistance of Evan Orion of flowerz and koncept event design who created all of the floral and decor designs for the wedding.

POETIC CEREMONY
The couple were wed on July 29, 2016, at swaneset bay resort & country club. Although vows are traditionally not exchanged at either Sikh or Persian ceremonies, the couple worked together with the officiants to personalize the wording. “Our Sikh wedding ceremony was the most beautiful, spiritual experience of our lives. It was the first promise to each other to share the same purpose for the rest of our lives,” reveals Elnaz, “Our Persian ceremony, on the other hand, was more romantic and began with my uncle reciting Persian poetry.”
For the Punjabi Sikh ceremony, the bride wore a custom made gown from India featuring mirrored embellishments and gold embroidery. She paired this gown with a red veil that had been hand embroidered in India. Her custom jewellery was purchased from made in india. The groom wore formalwear from Made in India.
The outdoor ceremony featured a round Sofreh table designed by Elnaz. Guests were seated on gold Napoleon chairs from koncept event design. Evan draped the backdrop behind the couple and also decorated the aisle with a path of suspended greenery-covered orbs. When the couple was announced as husband and wife, they released 500 butterflies as a symbol of them taking flight on their journey as newlyweds.

Elnaz’s Persian ceremony gown was designed by Justin Alexander from sposa bridal and featured a 12-ft long train. Her mother created her veil, which was embellished with Swarovski crystals, ivory pearls and French silk lace. The bride’s hairpiece was custom designed by Elsa Corsi to match her other jewellery.
Elnaz and Sunny hosted their guests for their wedding reception in the ballroom of the swaneset bay resort & country club. The back wall of the space features grand, 24-ft high windows, which Evan Orion of flowerz adorned with a dreamy, massive floral arch and panels of blooms. The wall of windows acted as the focal point for the space, and was where the newlyweds’ seating area was situated. Crystal vases with floating candles and gold laser cut butterflies decorated the scene. The plush chaise lounge provided by koncept event design was flanked by two tall floral arrangements. Inspired by a floral fabric swatch in Elnaz’s family’s home, Evan of Koncept Event Design designed and produced a 28-ft long by 28-ft wide dance floor covered in a large-scale pink and purple rose printed pattern.

Rectangular guest tables were decorated in gold candelabras topped with panels of blooms and featured suspended gold origami butterflies. Round tables featured tall cream centrepieces filled with white and purple roses, dahlias, and hydrangea.

Ivory table linens, lavender napkins, and gold charger plates from koncept event design completed the gold and pastel table design and further enhanced the glittering gilded design of the venue. The wedding meal was catered by the swaneset bay resort & country club, and for an added special touch the couple also arranged for traditional Persian dishes to be served as a way to honour the bride’s culture. The couple’s biggest priority was to ensure that guests did not stop enjoying themselves throughout the evening. “We organized entertainment, such as Punjabi and Persian dancers, a same-day video presentation, live musicians, and live percussionists to ensure the night flowed and the guests remained completely engaged,” shares Elnaz. DJ Taba from taba entertainment kept guests dancing all night long. Koncept Event Design also provided purple uplighting and rose patterned lights, which were cast onto the ceiling and dance floor. brellow produced the couple’s same-day edit video. The newlyweds travelled to Greece for their honeymoon, where they stayed over the course of three weeks at the andronikos hotel in Santorini and at cavo tagoo in Mykonos, relaxing, enjoying delicious local food, and warm, romantic evenings by the beach.

Juxtaposed against contemporary interpretations of Arabic architecture, here we showcase some of this season’s most statement-making gowns. Pattern and light are explored through mashrabiya, a form of latticework that uses geometric shapes to provide shade, resulting in patterned sunlight where light passes through. IN BLOOM Chinoiserie is having a major moment in the design realm and we are smitten. The iconic textile design house of de Gournay specializes in exquisite hand-painted wallpaper, fabrics, furniture, and porcelain; following traditions dating back to the 17th century and still producing some of the world’s most breathtaking Chinoiserie patterns. We recently photographed their ‘Earlham’ wallpaper for our Statement Issue. This exact pattern was also the decor star of the 2015 Met Gala where it was installed as a striking backdrop for the reception dinner. Guests sat at tables adorned with custom Chinoiserie linens while Rihanna emerged for a performance from behind cascading de Gournay silk drapes. A statement-making moment, indeed.
