Hello Lovelies! Welcome to the Winter/Spring 2014 edition of WedLuxe Magazine—The Art Issue. After more than a decade working within the wedding industry, it has never been more clear to me that as much as weddings are a wonderful and meaningful celebration of love, they have also become a legitimate art form made possible by the dedication and talent of an industry filled with true artists. With that in mind, this issue references art in all of its forms— photographic, painterly, illustrative, fashion, etc. Throughout the magazine, you’ll find page after page of beautiful ideas for your wedding, all inspired from the works of famous contemporary and historical artists. High school sweethearts Alicia and Joshua were engaged after ten years of dating. The romantic proposal took place at the couple’s favourite Italian restaurant in Toronto. Joshua had pre-arranged to have a special dessert platter served at the end of their meal. When their server presented a dessert with the words “Will you marry me, Alicia?” written in chocolate, Joshua bent down on one knee and proposed.

Alicia wore a princess-style gown by Pnina Tornai with a custom veil from KLEINFELD BRIDAL in New York and later changed into a white Marchesa cocktail dress for dancing at the reception. Her pearl earrings were a gift from a close family friend and her diamond necklace was from her grandmother. Sara wore a Stephen Yearick gown that had been custom-designed specifically to suit her vision and personality. The top of the gown was intricately beaded with Swarovski crystals, rhinestones and pearls. She wore a cathedral-length veil that was passed down by her older sister, the maid of honour. To customize it for Sara, her mother and grandmother placed Swarovski crystals on the frame of the veil. Sara’s headpiece was designed to match the design and beading of her gown. She paired the gown with a pair of heels from KATE SPADE NEW YORK. Sara and Hassan first saw each other at an event to celebrate the wedding of a mutual friend. In a crowd of many, they locked eyes throughout the night but never spoke. It wasn’t until later in the year that Sara and Hassan reconnected—this time, at the wedding of their friends. They have been together ever since! Two years later, the pair were engaged following a romantic dinner and dessert. Hassan presented Sara (an avid scrapbooker) with a box containing a scrapbook that Sara had originally given

Hassan on their one-year anniversary. He had updated the book to include more of their love story. Also enclosed was a one page letter describing one hundred reasons why he believed her to be the perfect person to spend the rest of his life with. A tab revealed his message, ‘Will you marry me?’ Considering Hassan isn’t known for his scrapbooking skills, Sara was very impressed and touched by his effort! Following the proposal, Hassan further surprised Sara with a family gathering at her sister’s house that included Sara’s father, who Hassan had flown in from abroad.

During the ceremony, a solo acoustic guitarist from BONGO & B ENTERTAINMENT played the couple’s favourite song, ‘Marry Me’ by Train, as the guests and bride entered the parish. The ceremony was a perfect blend of both Catholic and Syriac Orthodox faiths to represent both the bride and groom. A gold crowning ceremony also took place, originating from the orthodox traditions, blessing the bride and groom in their new journey. After the ceremony, the couple were transported to their reception in a 1969 White Bentley limo from B ROYAL LIVERY.

The floral and decor at the reception incorporated some of the bride’s favourite things—the colour pink, sparkles, antique frames and romance. Pink uplighting and plenty of candles added to the dreamy, opulent feel. The newlyweds were introduced into the reception with a bongo drum show, which also signaled that the dance floor was open! ROYAL ORCHID FLORIST created beautiful floral arrangements and a stunning ‘sweetheart-style’ head table. The bride and groom sat behind hundreds of rose petals and candles in crystal candleholders. The head table was connected to the cake table by a trail of fragrant rose petals.

All of the day-of stationery by INVITIQUE featured gold embellishments, and carried the same intricate design throughout. Petite square placecards resembled a gold frame and featured the couple’s custom monogram. A round menu with gold detailing graced every place setting. The tables were identified by custom-made rectangular ‘tents’ with rotating quotes that had been sourced from the bride and groom’s scrapbook. wedding

Lauren and Andre began dating while they were students at the University of Toronto in 2007. Years later, Andre proposed to Lauren at the couple’s special spot—a picturesque park in Toronto’s financial district. “We went to our usual spot and when the moment was right, I took out the ring and proposed. Joyful tears filled Lauren’s eyes as she smiled and nodded. I still vividly remember both of us being overwhelmed with joy that night and we were very excited to get married,” shares the groom. parisian

Lauren and Andre are both artistically inclined and opted to design their entire wedding day themselves. They created a luxurious “Rococo-themed” wedding which took place on August 17, 2013. “We had a clear vision of how we wanted the day to look,” says Andre who describes the day as “extravagant, elegant and, of course, fun.” The couple’s wedding ceremony was held in the TRINITY COLLEGE CHAPEL at THE UNIVERSITY OF TORONTO and was followed by a lavish reception at the PARK HYATT TORONTO YORKVILLE. Alexandria Pellegrino from CAKE OPERA CO. designed the couple’s ornate six-tiered wedding cake. The pale green cake featured a hand-painted image of a couple in love inspired by Jean-Honoré Fragonard’s “Progress of Love” paintings. Delicate gold adornments, similar to those found at the PALACE OF VERSAILLES, were used to decorate each layer of the structure.

The ceremony was followed by a reception in the Roof Salon at the PARK HYATT TORONTO YORKVILLE that boasts breathtaking views of the city’s skyline. The couple’s lavish white and gold wedding invitation from WILLIAM ARTHUR influenced the design schematic as did the Rococo period. “We were also fueled by the extravagant details from Sofia Coppola’s film ‘Marie Antoinette,’” shares Andre. For reception floral, the couple asked STEMZ to produce arrangements reminiscent of those found in Rococo paintings. Tables were topped with low floral centrepieces in shades that mirrored the bride’s bouquet along with hints of yellow and green foliage. Gold mint julep cups and small glass vases filled with seasonal blooms also adorned tables. Some arrangements were placed on vintage gold perfume trays for height. The couple’s head table featured two crystal candelabras that created a beautiful focal point in the room. The table linen and napkins for the head table were a soft blue colour with a taupe overlay that mirrored the gold fresco designs on the linens used for guest tables. SUSAN MURRAY INTERNATIONAL and CHAIR-MAN MILLS provided all of the gorgeous linens for the event. Along with the elegant chandeliers in the Roof Salon, the space was romantically lit with a sea of twinkling candles. Soft amber uplighting was provided by DJ FLOH BACK PRODUCTIONS.

Guests enjoyed a luxurious four-course plated dinner provided by the PARK HYATT TORONTO YORKVILLE that included warm duck confit with white asparagus. The couple also treated guests to a late night crepe station. “The chef attended to guests and made crepes fresh on the spot, adding to the overall French experience,” says Andre. The couple tell us they wouldn’t change anything about their day. Lauren and Andre are currently planning another wedding celebration with their family and friends in Asia. We’re guessing the talented couple will create an event that’s equally as fabulous as their Toronto union.

Afiya and Chris first crossed paths in 2010 on an evening when Afiya had reluctantly agreed to accompany some friends to a jazz bar. That same night, Chris was having a business meeting at the same venue. “From far across the loud and crowded room, our eyes met and locked for longer than a moment... we were introduced and the courtship began and continues to this day,” reflects Afiya. engagement

The proposal came at the end of an enchanted evening spent at the Children’s Aid Foundation’s annual Teddy Bear Affair gala. At the end of the night, Chris had arranged for their driver to stop at a beautiful and picturesque location along the waterfront. “As we sat under the clear night sky and the light of a million stars, Chris got down on one knee and asked, ‘Afiya... will you marry me?’ Shocked and surprised, in a voice barely audible, I said, ‘yes!’” planning

One of the first event professionals that the couple hired for their wedding was floral and event designer RACHEL CLINGEN OF RACHEL A. CLINGEN WEDDING & EVENT DESIGN. Rachel then introduced the couple to Laura Atendido of LAURA & CO. EVENTS who they hired to provide full-service planning and design assistance for the celebration. “After our initial consultation, Chris and I immediately felt like Laura was the perfect planner for us. She was in tune with our vision and immediately gave us a sense of calmness. She worked closely with Rachel to plan and design the modern, luxurious affair of our dreams.” The ceremony and reception took place on June 22, 2013 at the MILLER LASH HOUSE.

Afiya wore a custom gown designed by KEO, a UK based designer. “I spent a number of years in the fashion industry as a model,” explains Afiya. “KEO was one of my favourite designers in the UK, so it felt natural to have her design my dream wedding dress. I wanted something romantic and fairytale-like with lots of movement.” The bridesmaids wore strapless chiffon dresses from DAVID’S BRIDAL. The groom’s formal wear was from RALPH LAUREN. Afiya’s hair was styled by Dee Daly and her makeup was by David Goveia, both from JUDY INC.

The ceremony was personalized with meaningful readings from Afiya and Chris’s closest family and friends along with a symbolic sand ceremony. Jill Barry from DANCE FLOOR DÉCOR took the stunning lavender emblem created by PALETTERA CUSTOM CORRESPONDENCES and used this as the focal point on a custom vinyl floor treatment. LADY BE GOOD, led by lead singer Kat Langdon, provided the live soundtrack for the ceremony. “One of my favourite parts of the day was walking down the aisle to Kat’s rendition of ‘Can’t Help Falling In Love.’ Our recessional selection of ‘One Love/People Get Ready’ by Bob Marley was also a perfect fit for us!”

The guest list included high-profile athletes, designers and television personalities. Baseball legend Joe Carter, a dear friend and mentor of Chris, served as a groomsmen and was one of the couple’s witnesses. L.A. based fashion and lifestyle designer Nikki Chu and her partner Dolvett Quince, a trainer on the NBC show “The Biggest Loser,” were also in attendance. After the ceremony, guests were able to enjoy an outdoor cocktail lounge where modern lounge furniture allowed attendees to sit back and enjoy a cocktail among the scenic grounds of the MILLER LASH HOUSE. Wedding planner Laura Atendido designed a lavender lemonade that was served chilled in sleek champagne flutes and garnished with dried lavender. “Summer lanterns and lavender blooms, brought warmth and beauty to this area,” remembers Afiya.

A dinner reception followed (in the tent) where the white and lavender palette created a fresh, modern ambience. Afiya and Chris sat at a modern lucite head table accented with beautiful flowers. The table was positioned under a custom draped canopy with a softly-lit crystal chandelier suspended above the couple. One of Afiya’s favourite design details was the personalized place settings created for each guest that included individual menus with hand-tied lavender accents on every plate.

The wedding was catered by 10TATION EVENT CATERING. It was important for Afiya and Chris to have a dinner menu symbolic of their Caribbean roots. “We worked closely with Frank Cugliari of 10tation Event Catering to design the perfect ensemble of culinary excellence.” The menu included roasted corn fritters with tamarind sauce, sweet potato cakes with peach chutney, jerked rubbed chicken with pineapple mojo, traditional rice and peas, fried plantains, and ‘mac n’ cheese’ pie. To complete the meal, guests were treated to a mango parfait that was topped with a pistachio sugar glass. Christina Wong from TRUFFLE TORONTO designed the couple’s wedding cake and accompanying sweet table. “My favourite part of the cake table was the bite-sized lavenderthemed treats. The detail and artistry left guests speechless!” says Afiya. entertainment

Comedian Marc Trinidad was the master of ceremonies for the evening, while LADY BE GOOD provided live music for the event. “Seeing as we met at a Jazz bar, it seemed fitting to incorporate live Jazz into our wedding,” says Afiya. Joseph Langdon and John Collier met in May 2005 at the birthday party of a mutual friend. At the time, John had just moved back to Toronto from New York to run the Canadian division of Revlon.

“Afterwards, we decided to walk home down Fifth Avenue and stopped at the CARTIER MANSION,” describes Joseph. “Once there, we fell in love with and bought the engagement rings.”

The pair purchased matching “Juste un Clou” rings. The design features a gold nail curved into a ring and was designed in New York City in the 1970s by designer Aldo Cipullo to represent the edginess of the city at that time. Elizabeth Taylor had owned several pieces of the collection. When she passed away, Cartier bought back the pieces she owned and decided to re-introduce the collection at that time.

By 2012, the couple were living in Manhattan together after seven years of dating. Joseph and John describe their decision to get married as more of a discussion that took place during a romantic walk in Central Park, rather than a traditional proposal.

The ring’s design legacy felt like a perfect fit for the couple with both the New York City significance and the time frame of its design (both Joseph and John were born in the 1970s). Cipullo’s personal background was also something that resonated with the couple. The couple loved the design so much that it was woven into their wedding in the form of a logo created by Julie Gibb of PANTRY PRESS INC. The logo also incorporated the skylines of NYC and Toronto. Christine Flynn of LOVE THE DESIGN later used the same logo when she designed the wedding invitations and day-of stationery.

The grooms both wore matching watches, ‘Wax Seal Decor’ cufflinks and ‘Tank Française’ wedding bands—all from CARTIER. Their groomsmen also wore matching ‘Wax Seal Decor’ Cufflinks’ purchased at CARTIER MANSION on Fifth Avenue in New York City.

Invitation designer Christine Flynn drew an exact replica of the ceiling of MALAPARTE (the wedding venue) and incorporated it into the invitation. “Most guests didn’t understand the connection until they were in the room during our reception—then the design made total sense,” notes Joseph. Menus, stickers, t-shirts and silk-screened cocktail napkins also carried through the design.

Event planner Melissa Haggerty of SPECTACULARSPECTACULAR provided full-service design and planning services for Joseph and John’s June 8, 2013 wedding that took place in Toronto, Ontario at MALAPARTE. Living outside of the country, Joseph and John relied heavily on Melissa’s recommendations. “Her expertise meant we were comfortable with knowing the vision for the event would be executed perfectly and by the correct people.” fashion

Joseph wore a Giorgio Armani tuxedo and John wore Ralph Lauren. Both wore Tom Ford bow-ties purchased from the TOM FORD store on Madison Avenue in NYC. Makeup for the mothers and sisters was done by REVLON’s national product trainer and go-to makeup artist Jacquie Hutchinson. This was done at HOTEL LE GERMAIN, across the street from the venue and where many out of town guests stayed.

The intimate ceremony took place outside on the terrace steps at Malaparte with just close friends and family in attendance. The majority of the guests joined the newlyweds for cocktails and dinner shortly after the ceremony. Keeping with a non-traditional vibe, the grooms walked up the two side aisles instead of a traditional centre aisle. They came together on the landing where their “Best Men” were waiting. Once the ceremony was over, waiters appeared at the top of the stairs and champagne was passed out to all the special people that just witnessed the marriage. Pianist Kibwe Thomas performed during the ceremony and later during cocktail hour.

Lidia Tacconelli of FIORI FLORAL AND EVENT DESIGN, designed the floral and decor for the day. “It was a delicate line that Lidia worked with: we wanted it to look soft and ceremonial, but masculine at the same time. It ended up being the perfect combination of both.”

The reception moved indoors at MALAPARTE where event planner Melissa Haggerty and floral designer Lidia Tacconelli had been given free rein to create something “spectacular.”

Custom-made grey linens with a black border, designed by Lidia Tacconelli were made by LUXE-LINEN. Luxe-Linen also made the black seat cushions seen on the steps during the ceremony.

Green flowers were used in abundance along with black lucite troughs. “The real pièce de résistance was the head table area,” says Joseph. “It looked like we were dining in the chicest flower shop in Manhattan!”

After dinner, the party moved back outside into a tent erected by ADVANCED TENT RENTAL (a division of EVENT RENTAL GROUP). They extended the floor and carpet in the tent to the base of the stairs so that a two-sided bar could be set up. All AV was provided by ERG LIVE! (also a division of EVENT RENTAL GROUP). The dance floor was covered in gold vinyl from DANCE FLOOR DÉCOR and flanked by two sparkly gold carpets from REZNICK CARPETS.

Peter Somers—personal friend and neighbour of the couple and owner of CONTEMPORARY FURNITURE RENTALS INC., provided all furniture, chairs, bars, lounges and even the chandeliers which were brought in and rigged in both the tent and the main dining room.

Well-known Toronto comedienne and Celine Dion impersonator Laura Landauer was the Emcee for the evening. “She was so good that she fooled some of our New York guests for a while!” jokes Joseph. Transportation was a Rolls Royce Ghost (Joseph’s dream car!), from the ROLLS-ROYCE MOTOR CARS TORONTO dealership. Joseph and John share with us that the most luxurious part of their day was that the event unfolded seamlessly with fun energy and room transformations that kept their guests guessing about what was happening next.

The couple is planning a multi-country Asian tour for their honeymoon in January. They still reside in New York City where John is now Senior Vice President & General Manager of the U.S. Division of Revlon and Joseph is obtaining an MBA from Fordham University.

After an amazing meal and conversation, he bent down on one knee and asked to be my husband,” shares Jennifer.

Sonia and Andrea met while working together in 2005. The pair started off as friends and their relationship blossomed into a romance after Andrea drove Sonia home from work one evening. “As Andrea opened and then gently closed the car door for me, my stomach filled with butterflies. I knew this was the beginning of a new adventure together,” says Sonia. Seven years later, the wedding proposal took place at a picturesque park near their home in Richmond Hill, Ontario. The location held special significance for the couple as it was where Andrea first asked Sonia to be his girlfriend. The couple and their guests dined at a single, eight-foot long harvest table that was topped with lace linens. When guests arrived at the table, they were greeted with table cards that resembled old books and their place settings were adorned with a single page that appeared to be torn from a novel. One side of the page included Andrea and Soniaâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s love story that was written by the bride, and the other side of the card displayed the menu for the evening printed in the format of a bookâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s table of contents. Lisa De Rose created floral arrangements that were placed in vintage-inspired vessels displayed on top of old stacked books and barn wood. Peach candles in crystal candleholders were scattered amongst the design while a whole wall at the Stratus Vineyards was filled with rows of candles to further create a romantic ambiance.

In lieu of gifts, a donation was made to the ALZHEIMER SOCIETY OF CANADA in recognition of the couple’s family members.

The ceremony was followed by a “modern fairytale-themed” reception in the ballroom at THE RITZ-CARLTON, TORONTO. Event designers Tamara and Kevin beautifully draped the entire room in white fabric and designed the head table to be the star of the space. The couple sat on a raised platform underneath a draped canopy and crystal chandelier. Guest tables were adorned with floral arrangements in shades of blush pink and ivory that were placed in tall, lucite holders that complemented the clear Louis Ghost chairs rented from DETAILZ CHAIR COUTURE. The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto created a delectable meal for guests that included a dessert trio of crème brûlée, strawberry shortcake, and tiramisu. The hotel also created a late-night food station with an assortment of sliders and other savoury treats.

Former Major League Baseball player Roberto Alomar is famous around the world for his illustrious sports career as a twelve-time All-Star who won more Gold Gloves than any other second baseman in baseball history. He became the first Hall of Fame member to be inducted as a Toronto Blue Jays player and his trademark #12 was the first number to be retired in the franchise’s history. It was perfectly fitting—if not pre-destined—that 12.12.12 would mark the date for his marriage to Kim Perks, which took place in the city of Toronto, of course! Roberto and Kim’s love story began twentytwo years ago in Toronto when Roberto was first traded to the Toronto Blue Jays. At the time, Kim worked as a hostess at the SkyDome (now the Rogers Centre). Roberto would come early to practice and games so he could spend time with Kim. He would even throw the ball up to her when she was working in the private boxes!

Kim wore two gowns both created by worldrenowned, Toronto-based designer Ines Di Santo. Ines was also a guest at the wedding along with her daughter/business partner Veronica Di Santo. The first dress (for the ceremony and early part of the reception) was a one-shoulder, mermaid style gown. The second was a chic, soft, flowy gown for dancing. The wedding proposal took place in Roberto’s native country of Puerto Rico where he planned a romantic evening which included a candlelit dinner under a glowing moon with a surprise private performance from a Mariachi band. He placed a 10-carat diamond engagement ring on Kim’s finger and the rest is history!

Both Kim and Roberto were accompanied down a blue (naturally), carpeted aisle by each of their parents. An all-boys choir from Torontoâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s CRESCENT SCHOOL sang during the ceremony, accompanied by harpist Alyssa Michalsky. Each of the choir boys carried beautiful lanterns dressed with blue ribbons.

A wall of white, snow-dusted trees and beautiful white lamp posts created a backdrop for the head table, which was floating on a beautiful bed of white babyâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s breath flowers.

A dinner reception followed in the AGO’s Baillie Court where guests were transported into the dreamiest of settings. Custom mirror-top tables were created for the event so that the twinkling ceiling lights would reflect upon them. Each table was decorated with soft-blue tapered candles enclosed in glass vases along with white and silver candelabras that featured cascading floral arrangements. “We projected videos of falling snow onto the walls so it really looked as though they were having a gorgeous dinner outside,” notes Melissa Andre. Images of white blooms dusted with snow were also projected onto the floor.

The entire ceiling was wrapped in black fabric with thousands of miniature lights twinkling at different times to mimic a beautiful starry night sky. DANCE FLOOR DÉCOR provided vinyl designs for the dance floor. The Sole Power Live band, from SOLE POWER PRODUCTIONS performed at the reception, for dancing.

The dinner menu was also latin-inspired as the couple wanted a special menu that their guests would remember. The first course was a soup that Roberto’s mother made him as a child—Asopao de Mariscos with clams, shrimp, scallops, and rock lobster. A citrus-glazed pork belly with a salad of red watercress, oranges and avocado with crisp plantain chip and citrus vinaigrette followed. Guests also dined on seared beef tenderloin au jus with chimichurri, potato and sweet potato gratin and seared pacific snapper and shrimp escabeche. ‘K+R’ caramel-stuffed sandwich cookies provided a sweet ending to the meal.

Long-time friend of Roberto’s, Spencer Miller, (who was nine years old when he first met Alomar at a Toronto rehab centre in 1991) also toasted to his loyal friend and noted that “Robbie never, ever once looked at me as a disabled person. We’ll be there for each other for the rest of our lives.” Roberto also made a touching speech addressing Kim’s daughter, Robyn, and presented her with a beautiful ring. They also shared a dance just before Kim shared a dance with her father and Roberto shared a dance with his mother.

Jennifer and Matthew (Matt) first met in May of 2006 while interning together during University. After three years of dating, Matt planned a romantic proposal at the couple’s condo in downtown Toronto. Jennifer arrived home from work to a candlelit pathway of roses with Matt standing in a suit at the end of the path. Along the path, Matt had placed a trail of love notes each expressing why he wanted Jennifer to be his wife. When Jennifer reached the end of the pathway, he bent down on one knee and proposed. The couple were married at the LIBERTY GRAND ENTERTAINMENT COMPLEX on July 6, 2013. The ceremony was held in the courtyard of the LIBERTY GRAND ENTERTAINMENT COMPLEX. Officiant Sarah Bunnett-Gibson performed the ceremony and the couple recited customized vows.

The outdoor aisle was lined with small bouquets fastened to white Chiavari chairs and wrapped with ivory ribbon to coordinate with the bridesmaids dresses. Two large floral arrangements by Fuscia Designs flanked the altar. A string quartet from the ALEXSANDRE ENSEMBLE played throughout the ceremony further adding to the romantic feel of the event. After the ceremony, the couple were transported to their reception in a 1954 Bentley limo from A ROLLS CHOICE LIVERY.

The ceremony was followed by a reception in the Artifacts Room at the LIBERTY GRAND ENTERTAINMENT COMPLEX. CYNTHIA MARTYN FINE EVENTS and FUSCIA DESIGNS worked together to create a glamorous space with charming old-fashioned details. A whimsical exhibit of vintage doors was displayed in the cocktail reception area and was used to display framed family photos and guest’s table assignments.

Guests were seated at round dining tables with either tall or low floral centrepieces displayed in cut-glass vintage stands. Table linens were provided by HAVE A SEAT INC.

“The family photos were very special to me, since I felt that we honoured so many family members that were not able to celebrate with us on the wedding day,” shares Jennifer. White birdcages with small posies of roses, peonies and hydrangeas were set in Mercury compotes, placed on cocktail cruiser tables in the area. Tables were also topped with custom signs that displayed the couple’s two signature drinks, Jennifer’s “Forchetti Fizz” and Matthew’s “Russell Royale.” The Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex catered a delicious meal that included a scrumptious tiramisu served in a chocolate cup for dessert. Vintage video footage of the bride’s parents wedding was shown during the dinner. “It was so amazing to be celebrating my wedding day and watching my mother walking down the aisle thirty-nine years ago,” recalls Jennifer. cake

Jennifer and Matt’s wedding cake from THE WEDDING CAKE SHOPPE featured tiers of unfrosted cake cushioned with hundreds of real roses in shades of peach and pink. “The real roses gave off the most delicious scent next to the cake,” shares the bride. There was also a Mehndi celebration in honour of the bride at the Aleta Pool Cabanas at the resort.

Bill worked closely with floral designer Gisele Sterling of Toronto’s NOUS DESIGN GROUP who created the Mandap and other floral pieces across the wedding events. On the island, Ernie Hodge of COUTURE CONCEPTS aided with all the logistics and Bill Fulghum also enlisted the help of skilled European floral designer, Djordje Varda of VARDA. Sourcing design elements worldwide was a collaborative effort between Bill Fulghum, Gisele Sterling, Gabi Slaninova of SPECTACULARSPECTACULAR as well as the bride Anishka. seaside

The couple’s traditional Hindu ceremony was held at the Sunset Pool at the VICEROY ANGUILLA. Gaurav and his nephew rode to the ceremony on a white horse provided by SEASIDE STABLES ANGUILLA that was dressed in customary red and gold raw-silk fabrics. The bride was escorted down the aisle to the Mandap (the traditional wedding stage), by her uncle and closest male cousins.

Anishka wore a different outfit for each of the traditional Indian wedding events held over the five days. Anishka’s wedding ceremony and reception sarees by designer Manish Malhotra were purchased from the designer’s flagship store in Mumbai. She accessorized with jewellery from Bombay Trendz and Sia Art Jewellery, along with family heirlooms and a set of customary bangles from her Uncle. The bride’s hair and makeup was styled by Sana Nazer of BLISSFUL EFFECTS HAIR + MAKEUP. Gaurav wore a traditional white sherwani from SAAHIL EXCLUSIVE at the wedding ceremony and a Pal Zileri tuxedo at the reception that was purchased from HANFORD DREWITT.

Anishka and Gaurav’s Mandap was designed by Nous Design Group and built on a floating platform on the Sunset Pool. The Mandap was comprised of pink and ivory flowers that were placed in an ornate, Indian-inspired pattern. Floral garlands and hanging balls of carnations in shades of pink and green hung from the structure. Guests were seated under beach umbrella’s draped by MICKI’S (part of THE EVENT RENTAL GROUP) in the same shades of ivory and pink found on the Mandap.

Tables were strategically placed so that each guest could enjoy the breathtaking view of the waters below. Indian parasols from PANPALIYA ETHNIC INDIAN TEXTILES in Mumbai were used as decor throughout the wedding and were given to guests at the end of the trip as a token of the couple’s appreciation. Anishka and Gaurav couldn’t have been happier with their destination wedding. “It was not only a celebration of our love and union, but also the love that our entire family shares. It truly was a dream wedding,” says Ansihka. Tables were covered with purple linens from AROUND THE TABLE and fuchsia table runners with gold detailing from LUXE-LINEN. Spectacular floral arrangements hung above each table. Round glass balls were suspended from the overarching arrangements and filled with candles that twinkled throughout the reception. Authentic Indian rental pieces from were also used to decorate the space. Local rentals and logistics were managed by COUTURE CONCEPTS.
