Skillet Unleashed Tour 2017 w/ Special Guests Sick Puppies and Devour The Day

Skillet lets their music speak the loudest. That’s how the quartet has cemented its place as one of the 21st century’s most successful rock bands. Their double-platinum single “Monster” is “the eighth most-streamed rock song of 2015” with a total of 57 million plays (and counting) on Spotify and would earn the distinction of becoming “the best-selling digital single in the history of Christian Music.” 2013’s Rise bowed at #4 on the Billboard Top 200 upon release and received resounding and eclectic acclaim from the likes of USA Today, New York Times, Revolver, Loudwire, and more. The 2-mile and 5- mile runs will be held on May 13, 2017. This Montana Women’s Run expects more than 9,000 athletes to participate in the yearly event. To best accommodate the athletes, to ensure the safest experience and to help every woman achieve her own personal goal, start times will be one hour apart. The 5 mile race will start first at 8:00 am, followed by the 2 mile race at 9:00 am. This time difference helps decrease congestion along the course and separate the 5 mile and 2 mile finishers. In addition to the Women’s Run, the Kids’ Run for kids aged 10 and under will be held on Tuesday, May 9 at the Rocky Mountain College. The goal of this event is to encourage active lifestyles for children. Every race time is rewarded and every runner wins! The Kick-Off Dinner and Women’s Health Expo will be May 12 at the Billings Food Bank, located at 2112 4th Avenue North. This evening is for runners, walkers and volunteers to enjoy the Health Expo, a delicious pasta dinner, presentation of the Cape and Tiara award and an inspirational presentation by the guest speaker. The Health Expo features interactive exhibits and presentations from which women can learn more about fitness, nutrition and better health.

Getting Started Clinics will be held on Monday evenings beginning on March 20 to help get in shape with instructor-led exercise and stretching techniques. These clinics are free and will take place at the Rocky Mountain College outdoor track and the Lockwood School track, beginning at 5:30 each Monday before the run. The 2016 Montana Women’s Run proudly donated $101,000 to women’s health and fitness programs in the Billings community. Over the years, the Montana Women’s Run has donated over $1,065,523 to local organizations in our community. Recipients of the funds are the YWCA, Billings Clinic’s Women’s Wellness program, the YMCA, and Women’s Cross-Country and Track scholarship programs at MSU-B and Rocky Mountain College. The headquarters for Montana Women’s Run is located at 213 N. 29th Street in the heart of downtown Billings. The headquarters will be open May 8-12, 2017 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. 2017 Spring Home Improvement Show

34th Annual Show The 34th annual Spring Home Improvement Show is bursting at the seams in two buildings - the Expo Center and Montana Pavilion. The Montana Pavilion is located directly on the main Metrapark parking lot and the Expo Center is located adjacent to the Montana Pavilion. The show is recognized as the largest Trade Show in a five state area (MT, ID, SD, ND, WY) with over 650 exhibits spanning from the East coast to the West Coast, from Canada, and most importantly from right here in Billings. The show typically draws over 30,000 in attendance. This year’s show dates and hours will be Friday, March 3rd , Noon - 8:00pm, Saturday, March 4th, 9:00am - 6:00pm, & Sunday, March 5th, 10:00am - 5:00pm. The show will encompass over 100,000 square feet of inside exhibit space along with over 35,000 square feet of outside exhibit space. Not only are admission and parking FREE but there is a free shuttle to and from the upper lot to make all parking convenient. By Saturday morning all of the exhibits will have been judged and the coveted 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place

“Best of Show” and “Most Innovative” awards will be proudly displayed. For expanded information go to the web site at: www. billingshomeimprovementshow.com. The show continues to grow and gain in popularity every year. The producers of the show, Mark, Rhonda, Beau, and Devon Hedin attribute this as a result of the attendees being able to see the quantity (650+) and the quality of home improvement exhibits all within one show, thus saving attendees valuable time and effort. With a record setting real estate market couples with historically low interest rates and the desire for home owners to turn their homes into a more enjoyable environment, remodeling, decorating, and building is at an all-time high. The majority of businesses exhibiting at the show are from Billings, thus all business transactions and the revenue derived from these transactions remains in our community. Many businesses use the show to introduce and test the waters with new products and services. Demonstrations of these products and services are always a big hit at the show. Specialty food and drinks will be located throughout the show for weary show goers.

Skillet Unleashed Tour 2017

w/ Special Guests Sick Puppies and Devour The Day Skillet lets their music speak the loudest. That’s how the quartet has cemented its place as one of the 21st century’s most successful rock bands. Selling over 11 million units worldwide, the Wisconsin quartet— John Cooper [lead vocals/bass], Korey Cooper [guitar/keys], Jen Ledger [drums/vocals], and Seth Morrison [lead guitars]—have received two GRAMMY® Award nominations and won a Billboard Music Award for the platinum-certified Awake. The group’s ninth full-length album, UNLEASHED [Atlantic Records], sees them turn everything up louder, amplifying all aspects of their signature hypnotic sound. Channeling an intense muse, John immediately commenced writing just months after Rise hit shelves. “By the time Rise came out, I could take a little bit of a breather and experience it,” he explains. “I remember thinking, ‘this feels important to me, but I need something a little more urgent.’ I didn’t want whatever we did next to be so emotionally heavy. I wanted to make a record that made people feel the music – an album that would connect people to the music as well as to each other. An album, like some of my favorites, that’d be like a party to listen to – where people could sing along - together. “At the same time,” he says, “It is also about not being fearful of who you are and breaking free from stereotypes and expectations; knowing there may be a cost to this freedom, and willing to face the consequences, because not being honest with ourselves, or honest with the world, is a steeper price to pay.” That idea solidified as Skillet toured Europe in 2013 with Nickelback. Night after night, John watched the non-English speaking audience sing every word back to him. It left an indelible mark on his writing process. “It struck me, how music is much bigger than a language,” he affirms. “There’s a universal feeling. We wanted to get that emotion across more through the music than with the words. I

aimed to write songs people could easily relate to anywhere and everywhere.” Getting off the road in 2015, John headed to Los Angeles to begin recording what would become UNLEASHED with producer Brian Howes—who helmed the 2006 platinum-selling Comatose and co-wrote the platinum No. 1 smash “Awake and Alive.” Cutting half of the album with Brian, John tapped the talents of multiple producers for the first time in Skillet history, working with both GRAMMY Award winning producer Seth Mosley in Nashville and Kevin Churko [Five Finger Death Punch, Ozzy Osbourne, Disturbed] in Las Vegas. “Comatose was a very special album for a lot of reasons,” he continues. “We wanted to record with Brian again and when the chance came up we were both ready to go. I’m also a huge fan of Kevin Churko, and it was amazing to have the opportunity to write with him. When I Continues on Next Page

met Seth we just clicked. The entire process with each of them was such a great experience.” “Feel Invincible” explodes to life on a swinging guitar chug transitioning to sweeping electronics and a theatrical vocal call-and-response. Everything culminates on a towering chant that’s impossible to shake just as a melodic guitar lead takes off. “It’s a fight song,” says John. “Sometimes, everything in the world makes you want to give up. This is a reminder not to. I think, ‘This is my life. This is my family. I can’t go around being scared all the time.’ I have the strength to face what’s happening.” “We are living in a world of violence, literally all over the globe,” he continues. “It's a dangerous world to live in. Something could happen any time, anywhere. And it seems that no one is safe. This song is about finding something/someone who makes you feel strong and safe. I found this in my Christian faith. It's the only reason I have found worth living; much less living with any real compass and resolution. On the other end of the spectrum, the first single “Stars,” shines with a passionate and poetic refrain, “Here I am, lifting up my heart to the one who holds the stars.” Amidst the shimmering electronics and orchestration, it carries a

message that John hopes will be easy to understand. “It goes along with wanting to speak to as many people as possible,” he continues. “On a deeper spiritual level, for those who may not believe, it’s saying that there’s something bigger out there. I think we sometimes take for granted that God is in control of the BIG things. The sun will come up, the oceans will ebb and flow, the earth will keep spinning because God is in control. But we have a hard time believing that God is in control of small things too. He's watching over me, taking care of my family, helps me when I'm afraid, always with me when I'm empty or lonely. If He can hold the universe in place then He surely can hold me in place. Securely.” Whether it’s the snapping crunch of “Burn it Down” or the skittering crash and burn on “Out of Hell,” the record exudes a propulsive energy that can speak to both sides of the band’s audience, whether they’re sharing a bill with Disturbed or Lecrae. “It’s been an amazing journey,” John concludes. “The fans, the Panheads, means everything to us. They’re the reason we’re here. They make our shows what they are. We wanted to give that energy back to them in UNLEASHED.” Ultimately, this is Skillet at their most potent, pure, and powerful.

Ukulele Virtuoso Jake Shimabukuro performs at Alberta Bair Theater on March 8 Critically acclaimed ukuleleist Jake Shimabukuro performs one night only at Alberta Bair Theater Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets, $37 and $20 for students, went on sale Friday, January 27 at the Alberta Bair Theater Box Office on the corner of 3rd Ave N and N Broadway, by phone at 406-256-6052 (box office hours are Monday through Saturday, 12:00 Noon until 5:00 p.m. ) and/or online at www.albertabairtheater.org. The ukulele, with its humble four strings and modest two-octave range, is an instrument limited only by the imagination and creativity of the person playing it. Along with his own original compositions, Shimabukuro became noted for his solo uke arrangements of such varied pieces as Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody,” Schubert's “Ave Maria” and Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah.” “A lot of those are just songs that I really love,” he says. “I’d sit at home and work out how to play some of them on the ukulele. A lot of it is for my own curiosity. I always wondered, ‘Man, what would “Bohemian Rhapsody” sound like on a ukulele?’ And then it’s my stubborn nature not to give up until I’d figured out how to do it.” Shimabukuro became an international phenomenon when a video of him performing the George Harrison song “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” went viral on YouTube. Widespread acclaim following brought high-visibility collaborations with a wide range of artists including Yo-Yo Ma, Jimmy Buffett, Bette Midler, Cyndi Lauper, Jack Johnson, Ziggy Marley, Dave Koz, Michael McDonald, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Tommy Emmanuel, and Marty Friedman. Jake Shimabukuro has topped Billboard’s World Music Chart on numerous occasions, and has sold out prestigious venues and festivals such as the Hollywood Bowl, Lincoln Center, Sydney Opera House, Wolf Trap, Bonnaroo, SXSW, and the Playboy Jazz Festival. He even played for Queen Elizabeth II at The Royal Variety Performance in Blackpool, England.

Shimabukuro’s busy touring schedule—140 dates a year—is complemented by a rich and varied catalog of albums that capture the many moods of the uke. His most recent CD, Nashville Sessions, is one of his most adventurous, multifaceted and engaging records to date, blending elements of jazz virtuosity with heartfelt melodicism.

The Greater Billings Area

Shaped by the Yellowstone River and sheltered by the Rims, Billings is a regional hub for commerce. Whether you’re looking for bronco busting rodeo action or the relaxation of fishing or hunting, you’ll be in good company around Billings. Watch Montana’s wildlife by grabbing your binoculars and heading to the plains or hiking in the mountains that surround Billings. Use Billings as a central point to the best western attractions, events, hospitality, shopping and cuisine. Folks have found Billings a comfy haven for at least 2,000 years—just study the paintings at Pictograph Cave State Park. The wildlife drawn on the cave’s rock walls still roam this area— catch real-life glimpses along the Rimrock Trail or on a Yellowstone River float. Then fast forward to more recent history at the Moss Mansion, Pompeys Pillar National Monument or Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument, less than an hour’s drive off I-94. When it comes to dining, Billings spans classic cattletown flare, authentic world taste, and even modern eating scattered all over. Where ever you go, you will find something tasty. For the microbrew fans, Billings features Montana’s only walkable brewpub crawl—six craft breweries all within walking distance in Downtown Billings. Start your tour at Angry Hanks. Billings also sports one of the states largest art galleries Yellowstone Art Museum. It houses many works from local and world artists. Courtesy of VisitMt.com
