Sunday 30 May 2021 In the light of the issues relating to Covid-19 (the corona virus) we regret that we find the only sensible option now open to us is to postpone the Wendover Celebrates event planned for 24 May 2020. We have held on for as long as possible in the hope that we could run the event, but it has become apparent that doing so might increase the problems we all face. Additionally, our audience tends to be in the family age groups and we are particularly sensitive to that fact. We would like to apologise to everyone who was looking forward to the event and we have appreciated your supportive messages over the last few weeks.
We feel the only option to ensure the best event for all is to postpone it until this time next year, so the event will now take place on Sunday 30 May 2021. All entertainers, stall-holders and caterers who are already booked will be contacted separately and given the chance to transfer their booking to the new date. We hope that Wendover Celebrates 2021 will be just as good or better than this one would have been. Thank you for your understanding at this most difficult time for our organisation. Naturally if you have any questions please do get in touch via our website, www. wendovercelebrates.com. Bob, Fiona & Matt Directors, Wendover Celebrates.
You Write Bonfires
Is it really necessary to light a bonfire? We have a very efficient team who regularly collect our household waste, and another team to collect garden rubbish. What else can anyone possibly need to burn? Those of us on the receiving end have to endure the smoke, smell and bits of burnt ash blowing around, making it most unpleasant and rendering it necessary to keep windows closed. It is also a health hazard for the many vulnerable people who live in this beautiful village. E Cullen, Wendover

The map on the reverse of my letter was totally illegible, NO help to anyone who has just moved to the area or an elderly person with poor eyesight. Therefore I phoned National Grid to advise them of this, however the response which I received from them was UNBELIEVABLE. The young lady told me it was “clear on her computer (several times). She was truly shocked to learn that however clear it was on her computer, it had little bearing on the quality of their printing. (perhaps in the ludicrous cost of HS2 they have factored in the price of a new iPad for all Wendover residents). She seemed truly astounded that I had the nerve to ask whether anyone checked the print quality of the letters before they posted them. No response!!!!
Worrying Letter
I hope that this lunacy does not reflect on I received a worrying letter, as did many the quality of other things originating from others I suspect, from William Boulder of National Grid and HS2. B Prior, Wendover National Grid working for HS2. 22
