70 Series Combines GreenStar™: Guidance and Documentation
Get hands-free harvesting in corn with AutoTrac™ RowSense™
AutoTrac RowSense – Reap the reward of a hands-free corn harvest. AutoTrac RowSense is the next step to pinpoint accuracy in corn harvesting. It fuses GPS data from the StarFire™ receiver with mechanical feeler data gathered from row sensors and enables you to operate hands-free in corn even in weedy conditions, curved passes and downed corn.
To get every dollar from every hour and every acre, consider some of the options available from John Deere GreenStar™ Ag Management Solutions. The biggest opportunity for corn growers is the availability of AutoTrac™ RowSense™ and AutoTrac™ RowSense™ Universal. Both deliver the accuracy and efficiency you expect from AutoTrac – even if you’re harvesting in down corn, around terraces, or on pivots. Our system fuses GPS guidance with mechanical feelers, giving you the most precise automatic guidance system for corn in the industry.
This system accurately guides the vehicle down each pass in the field using mechanical feelers that are installed on the corn head (either a 90 or 600 Series Corn Head).
When harvesting in other crops, add ease and convenience by using the everpopular AutoTrac™ Assisted Steering System. Both it and RowSense are scalable to the level of accuracy your operation demands. And because all 70 Series Combines now come AutoTrac Ready, you can take advantage of guidance efficiencies with little set up.
AutoTrac RowSense Universal – Hands-free corn harvesting with widespread appeal.
Keep track of what you’re harvesting with the standard GreenStar Harvest Monitor – view yield and moisture readings on the go. Add GreenStar™ Harvest Doc™, and record yield, moisture, and production details, as well as create maps and reports to help with next year’s planning.
GreenStar™ guidance – Whether it’s you in the cab or a less-skilled operator, a GreenStar 2 guidance system delivers a quick payback. Choose the type of manual or hands-free guidance – and the level of accuracy you need, from 10 inches pass-to-pass, to one-inch accuracy with the RTK system. To make it even easier, all 70 Series Combines come AutoTrac Ready for the best integration in the industry.
AutoTrac RowSense Universal brings the same benefits of AutoTrac RowSense to older John Deere combines or a mixed combine fleet. Paired with the AutoTrac™ Universal Steering Kit, this new solution allows less experienced operators to run like a pro. AutoTrac RowSense Universal is compatible with any combine that is approved for use with ATU; check with your dealer for specific brand and model information.
Documentation – Keeping detailed records is a snap! Every 70 Series Combine comes equipped with GreenStar Harvest Monitor – see the crop’s yield and moisture measurements as it’s harvested. Information is readily displayed right on the CommandCenter™. Capture and store harvest data with Harvest Doc, then download data later into the Apex™ Farm Management Software for future planning.

70 Series Combines 600D Draper Platforms
70 Series Combines 600D Draper Platforms
Harvesting at its best, even when conditions aren’t
HydraFloat™ suspension system – No more cutterbar bulldozing in soft soil! This exclusive hydraulic height sensing system lets you increase the hydraulic pressure so the cutterbar will float over the ground. Adjustments are made in the cab. Because there’s no manual float spring tension to adjust, no stopping is required. With the low, 1.5-inch cut height, this system is a winner in down, tangled crop.
Take a good look at the picture on the right. It’s not fake. The crop really was that dense and tangled. The photo was taken in an irrigated wheat field that averaged 170 bushels to the acre. Thanks to both wind and water, the wheat was a matted mess. And the 600D Draper Platform? It handled the field as if it were 40-bushel standing wheat. To attain this kind of performance, our engineers went to the field with the dual goals of extreme reliability and exceptional material handling. They achieved both. The dual knife drive system, with a built-in drive line protection system, provides years of trouble-free operation. Perma-Glide divider points are designed to minimize outer divider plugging.
Integrated road transport – Equip your 630D, 635D, or 640D with this optional transport system for absolute convenience. Converting from field to transport mode takes only minutes and requires no tools!
Performance features include taller belt cleats, wider belts, and a larger, 16-inch feed drum. You can even add an optional auxiliary top auger to keep bushy crops moving into the feederhouse. With a complete draper line that includes four sizes from 25' to 40', you’ll have the widest selection of draper heads for the widest range of crops and conditions.
1
2
For rice harvesting – If you’re using the 625D in rice, opt for the large, 25-foot steel tine reel. It has a 54-inch diameter with eight bats to ensure excellent crop contact for optimized cutting and feeding.
3
Draper belt cleats – Exclusive 1-inch tall belt cleats move heavy, down, damp crop efficiently. In addition, the belt speed is now 20 percent faster for more consistent, even feeding.
1. Cutterbar Tilt – A center-mounted hydraulic cylinder lets you tilt the cutterbar from the convenience of the cab, so you’ll get the optimum cutting angle and the lowest possible cutting height. 2. 16-inch feed drum – Four inches larger than previous models, this drum is sized to provide better feeding in high-volume and high-yielding crops. 3. Timed Dual Knife Drive System – You’ll appreciate the smooth, vibration-free cutting performance the shaft-driven in-line dual knife drive system provides. Standard on the 630D, 635D, and 640D.
Reel resume and reverse – With reel resume, you can store two reel positions so you’ll always match field conditions. And for the occasion that your draper gets too big a bite, a single button lets you reverse the reel, center feed drum, and center belt to remove material without stepping out of the cab.

70 Series Combines 600C Corn Heads
600C Corn Heads power through tough corn like no tomorrow. Bigger fields, higher yields, and hybrids with tougher stalks all add up to greater harvesting challenges. Meet them head-on with the 600C standard and StalkMaster™ chopping corn heads. Material handling is a core strength of the 600C lineup. Redesigned stalk rolls and larger gathering chains help crop flow smoothly from the row units to the cross auger and into the combine feederhouse. At the same time, less trash is fed through the combine, which further boosts its productivity. Another advantage of the 600C headers is that they get more grain into the machine. Redesigned gathering chains, auger, and trough result in fewer tossed ears, less ear shelling, and less free grain in the trough. Despite the demands placed on it in the field, the 600C is made to withstand the pressure easily. Durable design and construction, featuring Perma-Glide™ technology, ensure that the 600C will retain its rugged good looks. When it’s time for maintenance, easy servicing gets you back in the field quickly.
70 Series Combines Frontier Corn Heads
Stalk rolls now feature eight blades. The additional blades, combined with faster speed, help provide more complete residue breakdown.

The 600C StalkMaster™ Chopping Corn Heads The StalkMaster Corn Head Chopping System lets you size and chop corn stalks while harvesting, eliminating second-pass operations and saving time, fuel, labor and additional tractor operating costs. A single gearbox per row, along with two rotary chopper knives that spin at over 2,200 RPM, efficiently size and chop corn stalks into 4- to 6-inch pieces. Knives can easily be removed, if desired, and are doublesided for extended use.
One look at our massive gathering chains and larger sprockets, and you’ll know both are made to turn in a long-lived performance. They’re heavy-duty, ultra reliable, and in the case of the sprockets, greaseless too! Serviceability on the 600C is a snap! Ready access to maintenance points lets you finish quickly so you can resume harvesting and maximize your productivity.
StalkMaster is available on the 606C and 608C with 30-inch spacing, and the 612C with 20-, 22-, and 30-inch spacing.
Frontier Corn Heads: Wider spacing narrows the gap 4
1. Prevent ears from dropping through the head with ear savers. They’re made of elastic, abrasion-resistant polyurethane. This versatile material is sturdy for long-lasting performance, but still flexible enough to allow corn to pass through gently without knocking the ears off the stalk. 2. On the CH2208, two cast aluminum gear cases per row unit protect the heavy-duty bearings and feature O-ring seals to avoid oil from escaping or debris from entering. Slip clutches on each gear case safeguard the drive system when plugging occurs. 3. Header Height Sensing (HHS) gives you greater control and consistency for maintaining row unit height in uneven terrain. 4. On the chopping row unit, cutting blades are heat-treated and wear-resistant to offer superior durability for harvesting in tough conditions. Plus, they’re reversible to increase performance life.
Looking for that perfect fit to meet your harvesting demands? Frontier now offers two special options of headers. The CH2208 Chopping and the CH2112 NonChopping Corn Heads. Each model is uniquely designed to provide increased row spacing of 36 or 38 inches on 8-row and 12-row units to match your farming practices. Configuration is only half the benefit. Frontier Corn Heads allow for high levels of performance to help you get more out of each harvest. So what do we mean by performance? Well, both the CH2208 and CH2112 feature a fast, efficient cross auger that helps reduce ear loss and improves dry trash and down corn feeding. Rugged knife rolls give you the ideal stalk cut and sizing. And large gathering chains and sprockets keep the system running smoothly, one season after the next. Let’s cut to the chase. With the CH2208, corn producers get a chopping head that can withstand tougher stalks for more efficient processing and greater residue management. Plus, the CH2208 one-pass chopping system saves time and fuel to reduce operating costs.

70 Series Combines 600 Series HydraFlex™ and Rigid Platforms
Boost output capacity with the 600 Series Platforms What’s in front of your combine has just as much effect on productivity as what’s inside your combine. So we designed the 600 Series Rigid and HydraFlex Platforms to match the high capacity of the 70 Series Combines and equipped them with a range of performance-enhancing features, including:
Segmented skid shoes (available on HydraFlex platforms) provide more flexibility for ground-hugging harvests so you can reduce field losses in down or tangled crops.
Header height sensing (HHS), helps maintain consistent offground cut height in uneven ground. HHS is standard on HydraFlex platforms, optional on rigid platforms.
The heavy-duty epicyclic knife drive increases drive capacity and improves reliability. The straight-line oscillation makes the drive run smooth.
Smooth performance in windrows
Single-point hookup. All John Deere headers and platforms feature single-point hookup of electrical and hydraulic connections, as well as latchpin engagement.
The 26-inch diameter auger, with its 5-inch flighting, takes in a thick crop mat. Plus, long, retractable fingers running in-line the full width of the auger aggressively grab crop material once it’s cut. Result: smooth, highvolume crop feeding – even at faster ground speeds.
Double-cut knives with heavy-duty drive. Four-inch double-cut knives give you cutting capacity and harvesting speed, while the epicyclic drive offers reliable, smooth performance. HydraFlex technology. With HydraFlex, you can control how much of the cutterbar’s weight is on the ground without affecting the ultra low cutting height of this header. Custom cutters, you can dial up the pressure to maximum, locking the cutterbar into the rigid position, thus giving you one platform you can use for wheat or beans.
The stone dam (Flex only) helps deflect rocks, minimizing damage, while helping hold material on the platform. Stainless steel deck plates provide a smooth transition between the cutterbar and auger. A short stone dam is standard on all HydraFlex platforms; a tall stone dam is available for rocky, uneven fields and no-till soybeans.
No matter how rough the field or how thick the windrows, the 615P Belt Pick-Up gives you smooth, complete gathering of windrowed grain, thanks to a variety of exclusive features and innovations. Start with the belts themselves. Four, 44.5-inch rubber belts provide improved performance over designs using more belts – you’ll see tighter tracking, plus reduced seed losses. Connectors between the belts increase drive capacity, even in tough conditions, without the need for a center support on the drive rollers. Belts are driven by dual hydraulic motors, not a mechanical/hydraulic combination, for fewer moving parts and increased reliability. The exclusive FieldGlide™ suspension features an adjustable air spring and heavy duty hydraulic shock design to dampen movement during field operation and transport, allowing you to increase harvesting speed without bouncing the platform over windrowed crop. No tools required – simply set the air springs quickly and easily; once set, the air springs don’t need adjustment during the season.
Exclusive HydraFlex Platforms give you unmatched flexibility to run faster and cut cleaner over uneven ground. Float arms with hydraulic cylinders give you six inches of float, even when changing pressure to match harvest conditions. In-cab controls let you make adjustments, or run on “automatic.” For rigid operation, simply use the maximum pressure, or use mechanical lock-out brackets.

Heavy-duty feeding for high-yielding crops
Let Contour-Master Take Control of Header Tilt
sure s oint en Pivot p ent down consist sure. pres
Harvest more grain at faster speeds – in any terrain. Contour-Master is a self-leveling system that allows the feederhouse and header to tilt 4 degrees side-to-side for exceptional ground following. Sensors on flex platforms and corn heads detect changes in the terrain and signal the Contour-Master controller. Tilt response is instantaneous.
Your need for greater harvesting capacity continues to drive innovation at John Deere. An excellent example is our high-performance 4x4 feederhouse. An innovative design delivers a 15-percent increase in feeding capacity – without slugs. It sends a consistent, smooth crop mat into the combine every time. Durability was designed into this feederhouse, too. The slats are heavy-duty, heat-treated cast iron, so they can stand up to the biggest challenges your header equipment can throw at them.
The benefit? More consistent cutting height across the platform width, without bulldozing or gouging. And because you can harvest at faster speeds on sloping terrain, you’ll maintain your productivity.
1
And speaking of headers, this feederhouse came by its 4x4 name honestly. It can lift 4400kg (or 9,700 pounds) and carry up to a 40-foot cutting platform! All of the feederhouse components complement the CommandTouch multi-speed feederhouse drive. Designed to handle the 600C 12-row StalkMaster Chopping Corn Head, the CommandTouch drive is standard on all 9870 STS corn combines. It’s optional on all 9770 STS combines and on 9870 STS rice and grain combines.

1. This high-performance feederhouse features a unique pivoting mid-frame and front drum design that provides constant, heavier down pressure on the crop material entering the feederhouse. This results in faster, more even feeding and increased capacity at high ground speeds.
Unlike add-on designs, the tilt frame is an integral part of the feederhouse – not an afterthought. So there’s plenty of backbone to carry 12-row corn heads and 40-foot platforms, and exceptional strength to withstand the heavy “racking” loads generated by rapid tilting action. What’s more, the feederhouse is the same length as a standard feederhouse, maintaining visibility to the platform. There’s no compromise in feeding either, as with add-on designs that increase feeding distance and hamper material flow.
2. The CommandTouch Multi-Speed Feederhouse Drive provides the high torque needed to operate 12-row StalkMaster Chopping Corn Heads. It’s powered through a five-speed wet-clutch power-shift transmission. Select any speed from 495 to 747 RPM on-the-go. Speeds are spaced at distinct “steps” to better match gathering speed to ground speed. 3. The fixed-speed feederhouse drive is standard on all STS grain combines. It features a 520-RPM drive to optimize combine performance. 4. The all-crop variable-speed feederhouse with Posi-Torq™ Drive is standard on 9570 STS, 9670STS, and 9770 STS corn combines. It’s available with regular, heavy-duty, or high-torque drive.

70 Series Combines STS Bullet Rotor™
70 Series Combines STS Bullet Rotor™
Moves large volumes with a gentle touch
Bullet Rotor Technology reduces the force required to move material through the combine by as much as 20 percent. Less power is required to drive the rotor, while ground speeds can be increased; this easier, smoother crop flow reduces the potential for rotor 'growling' at high feedrates, even in damp conditions. This is especially beneficial when harvesting early or late in the day, or any time conditions impair crop flow.
2 1
John Deere took the rotary combine concept a step further with the introduction of the Single Tine Separation (STS) rotor. Today, the STS Bullet Rotor still leads the way in efficient separation.
1 The ‘rifling’ grooves on the elements allow the bullet-shaped rotor to move large volumes of crop material through the rotor more efficiently, the same way rifling in the barrel of a gun allows a bullet to move more efficiently. Rifled elements ‘grip’ crop material, providing a pulling action to help even the crop flow, allowing the rotor to deliver better threshing performance.
First, look at the tapered front section of the rotor. This design dramatically reduces the “growling” associated with thick crops and heavy rotor loads, making your operators and your combines more comfortable in challenging conditions. Next, notice the spiral vanes surrounding the rotor. Like rifling in the barrel of a gun, these vanes help guide the crop material through the Tri-Stream feeding and threshing area, reducing hesitation and improving productivity.
2 Heavy-duty vanes on the top cover of the STS module help propel the crop rearward through the threshing and separating system. Unlike conventional rotaries, STS module vanes never need adjustment.
As always, threshing and separating components are made from high-quality, high-strength materials for superior performance and durability.
To provide a premium harvest performance in rice, all 70 Series Combines are available in a rice harvesting configuration. Modifications to the STS system allow the combine to work extremely well in tough, damp rice, and yet still provide gentle threshing action. Extended wear-life components provide wear resistance in this abrasive crop. Best of all, your rice combine will still harvest corn, soybeans, and small grains with ease.
3
Extended-wear separating package doubles the life of components, and includes factory-installed extendedwear concaves, extended-wear threshing elements and separator tines, and extended-wear rotor top covers.
Dual-range separator-drive speed gives you a wide range of speeds to match conditions. High range provides 380 to 1,000 rpm; low range offers 210 to 550 rpm. Shift one lever to change ranges. Now, you can harvest close to the ground without worry thanks to a true stone trap. It helps catch rocks before they reach the threshing module. Flip one lever for fast and easy cleanout. Unlike conventional rotaries that have a concentric cage throughout the full length of the rotor, the John Deere STS module features a stair-step design. This gives the crop mat room to expand as it travels through the separator module, reducing the chances for roping – and lowering power requirements. The pull-and-release action frees trapped grain in the crop mat, boosting grain savings significantly.

70 Series Combines DynaFlo™ II with ICC Cleaning System
70 Series Combines DynaFlo™ II with ICC Cleaning System
Dyna-Flo™ II – high capacity cleaning with easy in-cab adjustment
Self-leveling Cleaning System for all STS combines Minimize harvest loss and maintain level-land productivity on sidehills with 8 to 12 degrees of slope with our innovative self-leveling cleaning system. It has two distinct design advantages over competitors:
Adding cutting capacity doesn’t do much good if your cleaning system is overloaded. To make sure your 70 Series Combine can keep up with faster harvest speeds and higher-yielding crops, there’s the Dyna-Flo II Cleaning System.
1. Four individual chaffer and sieve bays, versus a single large one. This approach delivers better control and handling of the grain on slopes; and there's no complex drive system for the bays to worry about or maintain.
We’ve equipped the big 9870 STS with a specialized Dyna-Flo II system with increased cleaning capacity (or ICC) that offers a 15-percent boost in cleaning capacity – a must to match the higher through-put of our largest Class 8 combine. The front chaffer has 1,100 square inches of additional cleaning area, along with a more aggressive sieve stroke and a higher fan speed. The rest of the 70 Series STS lineup also benefits from the longer sieve stroke, which shakes the material more and thereby improves performance. Together, these improvements help reduce cleaning shoe losses, especially in demanding, high-yield conditions.
Stage 1 Four conveyor augers are located beneath the concave, where the volume of separated material is highest, to evenly move material into the cleaning system. The deep auger troughs provide uniform distribution of material to the cleaning system with less bunching, even on side slopes or when going up and down hills.
Stage 2 The Dyna-Flo II cleaning fan blows a high volume of air across the full width of the cleaning shoe with an improved air distribution between the front and rear portions of the cleaning shoe. About 30% of high velocity air flows to the front chaffer; 70% of high volume air is guided to the rear chaffer and sieve. The result: maximum efficiency and a clean grain tank sample.
Stage 3 Material from the separator is pre-cleaned in two stages. The front fixed chaffer, the first step, helps to thin the crop mat. The raised front chaffer pre-cleans up to 40% of free grain before it reaches the rear chaffer. Air from the cleaning fan elevates any light material travelling over the end of the raised front chaffer. This results in more aggressive separation of material at the step pan and increased cleaning performance.
9570, 9670, and 9770 – Dyna-Flo II The proven Dyna-Flo II cleaning system (standard on 9570 STS, 9670 STS, and 9770 STS) pushes high-velocity air through a one-piece, raised-front chaffer. Meanwhile, high-volume air flow is spread evenly across the width of the shoe. This high air flow carries the chaff to the back of the machine, where it’s blown out. Not only does the Dyna-Flo II system give you cleaner grain, but it also helps reduce tailings returns.
2. An exclusive overcompensating system. The chaffer and sieve bays actually tilt past the level position. This distributes the grain over the full area of the bays for better, faster separation, as well as maximum grain savings.
Stage 4 The two-piece front and rear chaffer and the single-piece sieve are designed specifically for the STS combines. This robust design allows our cleaning shoe to operate at a longer stroke and higher speed than other combines. The result: a high performance, compact design that reduces slope sensitivity while delivering perfect results – proving again how our intelligent design makes the difference for you.
The result: Up to 95 percent level-land capacity in corn at level-land ground speeds – all with low losses. Compared to other self-leveling systems, we give you the fastest ground speeds and lowest crop loss on slopes. When equipped with the self-leveling cleaning system, the 70 Series are the most productive combines you can have on slopes!
So you don’t have to climb back into the cab, ground level adjustment of the cleaning system is standard equipment on all 70 Series STS Combines.
The high-inertia shoe drive, now standard on 9670 STS, 9770 STS, and 9870 STS Combines, provides smooth, consistent power delivery with less belt slippage.

70 Series Combines DynaFlo II Cleaning System
Grain handling capacity that keeps you running
Clean Grain Handling: A Closer Look The clean grain handling system on the 9770 STS and 9870 STS Combines keeps grain from ‘stacking up’ at the clean grain elevator. Larger upper and lower clean grain augers help preserve grain quality. Elevator drive sheaves are bigger, for more positive belt wrap, while faster elevator paddles move grain away from the cleaning shoe quickly.
High yields, tough schedules, and the Dyna-Flo II Cleaning System. Together, these factors necessitate a clean grain handling system that can keep up with your harvesting pace. Here’s how the STS combines deliver: Clean Grain Elevator Capacity – Our 9770 and 9870 STS machines boast a 98-bushel per minute capacity, so you won’t be slowed by plugging. The 9670 has a 79-bushel per minute capacity, and the 9570 STS handles 73 bushels per minute.
Rotating beacon lights on all 70 Series STS combines offer two benefits: First, all three turn on automatically when the grain tank is 3/4 full, and again at full, so the grain cart operator knows he’s needed. Second, they activate when road transport lights are on for added safety. Two beacons are located on the front corners of the grain tank and a third is mounted on the rear of the combine for added visibility.
High Unload Rate System – 91 seconds (that’s 3.3 bushels/second) is all it takes to empty the 300-bushel grain tank that’s base equipment on the 9670, 9770, and 9870 STS combines. 26-ft. unloading auger – 3.5 feet longer than any predecessor, this unloading auger pairs ideally with the 640D Draper Platform. The extra length makes unloading on-the-go a stress-free operation.
Today’s wider, centered platforms require a longer unloading auger. Our optional 26-foot auger keeps in-field unloading easy for both the combine driver and the grain cart operator. To ensure reliability, we redesigned both the auger and the support structure. A cast unloading auger turret brace helps carry the increased load and torque found with this larger auger. Plus, we added extra steel to the grain tank, thicker floor sheets, and more support on the right-hand side of the combine. 18

70 Series Combines Residue Management
70 Series Combines Residue Management
The Power to Spread...up to 50 Feet.
Chop, drop, size and spread: all with 70 Series residue handling Chopped, dropped, fine-cut or rough-cut…the 70 Series STS Combines feature residue handling systems and options that are designed to address your residue management needs without sacrificing valuable engine horsepower. For starters, the 9670 STS, 9770 STS, and 9870 STS all feature our 12-vane widespread tailboard. Perfect for spreading residue in widths to 30 feet, this simple, economical design is easy to adjust, and easy to swing up and out of the way for windrowing.
The optional PowerCast™ tailboard uses two powerful hydraulic motors to drive the variable-speed impellers. The impellers engage the residue coming out of the chopper, and give a powerful spreading ‘boost’ to the residue stream. With PowerCast, you can achieve a controlled spread of up to 50 feet wide! A twin-rotor straw spreader is driven by two hydraulic motors for uniform distribution of both straw residue and chaff. There are no belts to adjust, no belt-slippage. A 150- to 500-rpm disk speed lets you vary the spread width to match the width of your header. The straw spreader can be quickly raised out of the way to windrow straw for baling.
Growers who need a fine chop will appreciate the finecut chopper. The chopper blades, along with unique air shrouds in the chopper housing, give an ultra-fine cut while generating a strong blast of air for more even residue distribution. For growers who need an ultra-wide, fine-tuneable spread, there’s the PowerCast™ tailboard. Its deep, rotating impeller blades provide better engagement of the residue for a more even spread, even at widths up to 50 feet! Spread width is easily controlled from the CommandCenter armrest display.
Chopper blades feature large surface wings with long lasting, wearresistant material. The wings are positioned to generate maximum airflow to the outer edges of the chopper, giving you a more consistent spread pattern. Fewer blades make for reduced power requirements and lower replacement costs.

A stacked-bar readout on the Active Header-Height Control gives you a visual representation of relative header height. Select the feature or features you want active: header resume, height sensing, and reel resume. Reel resume lets you control reel height and fore-aft position. The bottom right corner displays the header position when equipped with optional Contour-Master lateraltilt system.
Long days in the cab are easier when you’re surrounded by quiet comfort. The cab of the 70 Series Combines is exactly what you need in a harvest command center. First, the air-suspended seat saves your spine from bumps and ruts. The 14-inch tilting steering wheel lets you get just the right adjustment for long days in the field or backing into the shed. Over 50 square feet of window area provides an unobstructed view. Turn the cab into a mobile headquarters with the optional Field Office™. Built into the training seat, Field Office gives you space for CDs, PCM cards, cell phones and chargers, even a laptop computer.
TouchSet™ Automatic Combine Adjust is standard equipment on all 70 Series Combines. TouchSet allows the operator to select one of 25 factory preset crops; the system then automatically adjusts threshing rotor rpm, cleaning fan rpm, concave clearance, main chaffer opening, and sieve opening.
And of course, cab climate can be adjusted precisely to your comfort, while the highquality sound system puts out all your favorite tunes. Visibility is an advantage that’s easy to see in the 70 Series cab. Over 50 square feet of window area give you wide, unobstructed views to the front of the feederhouse, the full width of the header, the stubble height, and the sides of the combine. Only an open-station combine could give you better visibility!
In addition to the 25 standard factory presets, operators can store one set of customized settings for each of the presets, plus up to nine personal crop settings. Any of the settings can be manually fine-tuned and adjusted through the CommandCenter display; the current setting and the set point will be displayed until the desired setting is reached.
The easy-to-reach overhead control console puts the lights, temperature control, radio, and warning lights out of the way, yet still easily within reach. Rocker switches give you simple finger-touch control of transport and field lights.
As an added convenience, external ground-level switches allow for easy adjustment of the shoe area if you’re checking losses. The same adjustments can be made in-cab while on the go.

70 Series Combines Drives and Axles
70 Series Combines Drives and Axles
The ProDrive gives you more control without the stick
Heavy-duty, single-reduction final drives provide the load-carrying capacity to handle large highflotation tires, 42-inch duals, and large header equipment. You won’t need to add costly planetaries. The large STS Combines also boast high-torque hydrostatic drives, plus heavy-duty transmission, brakes, and rear-wheel spindles.
The ProDrive is the latest advance in transmission technology. ProDrive delivers peak harvesting efficiency in all ground conditions. You’ll appreciate the precise speed control it offers, especially in hilly terrain and tough harvest conditions. There’s no need to constantly monitor and adjust the hydrostatic control handle or stop to shift gears while harvesting.
Main engine gearcase distributes power to the separator gearcase, grain tank unloading system, residue-disposal system, and ground-drive system. Hydrostatic pump, hydrostatic charge pump, main hydraulic pump, and steering pump are driven directly from the main engine gearcase. There are no belts to adjust or replace. Wet-clutch design provides longer life and greater reliability.
Seamless shifting. When ground conditions change, ProDrive lets you smoothly shift between two speed ranges with the push of a button. You’ll no longer have to stop to shift when going up or down hills or exiting fields. Up to 42% more torque at 6 mph (compared to a three-speed transmission) delivers the power you need in tough conditions. And to provide maximum productivity, the ProDrive system includes integrated HarvestSmart™ feedrate control.
The ProDrive Ground Drive System Get more precise, more consistent control of your ground speed throughout the travel range of the hydro handle. ProDrive lets you switch between two infinitely variable speed ranges with the push of a button. Using the CommandTouch armrest console, set the first range for typical harvesting speeds, and the second for transport.
HarvestSmart delivers peak results. To further sustain high levels of productivity, we’ve integrated HarvestSmart Auto Feedrate Control into 9870 STS Combines with ProDrive, and it’s available for all other 70 Series machines. Harvest Smart lets you choose either maximum capacity or minimum loss modes; the system continually adjusts the combine’s forward speed until either the capacity limits or grain loss limits are reached, and then disengages once you move the hydro handle.
This heavy-duty rear-axle spindle – standard on STS Combines – offers tremendous load-carrying capacity. It lets you go with larger steering tires without the extra expense of 4-wheel-drive. All 70 Series Corn Combines feature adjustable rear axles that let you adjust tire tread from 120- to 152-inch centers in 8-inch increments...ideal for ridgetillage operations.
The 9570 and 9670 STS combine models feature a variable-speed hydrostatic drive system and 3-speed transmission. An infinite speed range in each gear lets you match ground speed to the crop and conditions. The variable-displacement pump is gear driven directly from the main engine gearcase, so there are no ground belts to worry about. Plus, the 3-speed transmission gives you a wide range of ground speeds for harvesting, as well as brisk transport speeds.
Two-speed 4-wheel-drive lets you switch between torque ranges. In slow-speed mode, the high-torque rear assist is ideal for tough conditions. Use high-speed mode for low-torque performance and faster ground speeds.
Another benefit ProDrive delivers: An electro-hydraulic differential lock with a 4-pinion differential for greater traction in muddy harvesting conditions.
All 70 Series Combines feature a high-strength axle built from a one-piece rectangular tube welded to the separator uprights. Its load-carrying ability and durability are far superior to the bolt-together designs found on other combines.

If producing high-quality straw for baling is your primary objective, look no further than the T670 Small Grain Combine. We engineered this Class 7 combine to provide straw quality that’s second to none, even in tough, high-yielding crop. We accomplished this by pairing conventional threshing technology with the Tangential Tine Separator. This approach uses a tangentially mounted separator and a large wrap concave to give thorough separation, yet with fewer opportunities for grain and straw damage. From the threshing system back, the T670 uses straw walkers to gently separate grain from the crop mat. Aside from a different threshing and separation system, you’ll find that the T670 provides you the same excellent field performance you’ve come to expect from its STS cousins. Likewise, the cab controls are comfortable and easy-to-use. The T670 pairs perfectly with the 600 Series HydraFlex and Rigid Platforms, the 615P Belt Pickup Platform, and the high-capacity 600D Series Draper Platforms. Simply choose the platform that best complements your operation.

Engine Power – The 9.0L PowerTech Plus™ Engine found on the T670 provides 360 hp at rated speed for tremendous productivity, even in heavy crop. You’ll also appreciate the 7-percent Power Bulge and 33-HP Unloading Boost.
Straw Walker Separation – The T670 uses six long straw walkers to gently separate grain from the crop mat. Seven aggressive steps move the material, but with minimal horsepower use.

70 Series Combines Service and Maintenance
70 Series Combines Service and Maintenance
Put service and maintenance on an express route
The John Deere Dealership Promise: Standard with every piece of equipment we sell
Brisk harvesting is just the beginning with a 70 Series STS Combine. You’ll also breeze through your service and maintenance schedules.
In each one of the nearly 2,000 North American John Deere dealerships, you’ll find a committed staff of sales, service and parts technicians, all dedicated to keeping your 70 Series STS Combine running smooth and strong throughout the entire harvest season.
Start with accessibility. It’s excellent. Lift the side-shields, and you’ll see why. Thanks to gas struts, the shields virtually lift on their own. No heavy lifting. Service and maintenance points are easy to locate, too, thanks to the uncluttered layout on the left side of the machine. Everything for the separator and cleaning shoe is in view. Access to the tailings and clean-grain elevators is on the right-hand side of the machine.
The John Deere Dealership Promise: Standard with every piece of equipment we sell. You can’t see it and you can’t order it, but the John Deere dealership promise comes with your combine to keep it running smoothly all season long. Take a look:
Greasing a 70 Series Combine is a simple task, thanks to convenient lube banks. Or choose the automatic grease option. Plus, there are no daily lube points. In fact, the shortest lube interval is 50 hours. That means you can spend less time prepping your combine, and more time harvesting.
We promise to support your combine with a powerful dealer network that stretches across all of North America.
Engine air scoop pulls cleaner air through the radiator, reducing the load on air-cleaning components and helping maintain a cleaner cooling system.
Air filter replacement is a breeze. Filters can be conveniently reached while standing on the rear deck.
Unobstructed access to common service check points makes daily oil and coolant level checks quick and easy.
We promise to have trained parts and service technicians who can help you achieve high up-time and low maintenance costs. We promise to diagnose and speed needed repairs through the use of the latest computer technology. Invest in John Deere equipment and enjoy the benefits of a professional and knowledgeable staff that is always willing to lend you a helping hand.
We promise tremendous parts support through both our in-stock parts inventory, as well as with JDParts.com. And when it’s urgent, we offer next-day delivery.
From the time you first walk into our store, until we deliver that new combine to your farm, we’re there for you year after year.
