From the increased feeding capacity of the CommandTouch feederhouse to the stalk processing ability of the 600C StalkMaster Chopping Corn Heads, the 70 Series STS Combines give you the features that fit the way you farm. But where does all the power come from?
Engine air scoop pulls clean air through the radiator, reducing the load on air-cleaning components, helping maintain a cleaner cooling system, and increasing walk-around space on the rear deck.
Take a look at the 13.5L PowerTech™ Plus engine on the 9870 STS. This hard-working powerplant gives you everything you need in an agricultural engine...durability, dependability, and fuel efficiency, in a package that meets all industry off-road emissions standards. Features like the vertical oil filter and gear-driven water pump help make maintenance and service easy...and infrequent. Wet sleeves and full-pressure lubrication keep all the internal components supplied with cooled, filtered oil. And we didn’t forget the other combines in the line. The 9670 STS and 9770 STS use the 9.0L PowerTech Plus engine, while the 9570 STS gets power from the 6.8L version. All feature a Power Bulge to help overcome tough crop conditions, and a Power Boost for unloading operations.
The cylinder block features a-deepskirted design, large front-gear support, large flywheel-housing flange, and big cam bore. Those beefy features translate into more strength, greater reliability. A single belt drives the air conditioner, alternator, and engine fan. An automatic tensioner extends belt life.
The 9.0L PowerTech Plus Engine delivers higher performance for the 9670 and 9770 STS. This engine features automatic fuel priming, fuel filter change indicator, water-in-fuel sensor and more.
The proven 6.8L PowerTech Plus engine pushes the 9570 STS along with 265 hp.

The PowerTech Plus engine’s cooling system provides consistent operating temperature in the most-extreme harvest conditions. A cartridge-type water pump provides more reliability and is easier to service.

The 440 hp 13.5L PowerTech Plus Engine powers the awesome productivity of the 9870 STS. You’ll enjoy the 471 hp maximum power bulge (at 2,100 rpm) and the 473 hp maximum unloading power boost. Order the Intelligent Power Management option (exclusively for the 9870 STS Combine operating with 612C StalkMaster chopping corn head), and you get 480 hp, with a power bulge of 514 hp and unloading boost of 513 hp.
