Blue Jays Rookie League Grades K-4 Join us for a safe, fun, active and engaging baseball program for those who might not otherwise have the opportunity to participate in recreational or organized sport. Rookie League is a program that uses the game of baseball as a foundation to teach children the importance of team work, cooperation and self-esteem. Please register and remember to wear appropriate running shoes, warm clothing and bring a water bottle and ball glove. Gloves can be provided if indicated at time of registration.

Bounce Back League (BBL) 8-12yrs Registration required. With a team of two qualified staff members, the BBL Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada National Program, will show children that sports can be fun, healthy and help them manage the ups and down of life both in and out of the game. Each week will consist of a warm-up, drills for skills, game time and team time. Snack is provided each week.

Want to make a difference? If you have a special talent or simply want to make a difference in a child’s life, contact the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Okanagan if you would like to volunteer. We need: Floor hockey coaches, Coding and Science Instructors, Dance and Music lovers, Creative Chefs, Children’s mentors, and Special Needs Assistants. Birthday Parties Let us plan the birthday party for you! We will provide the set up, clean up, and a hot dog, juice and chips for the party goers. Parents provide the guests, cake and goodie bags. There will be lots of fun games and activities including time to play in our gym. We will have one staff party leader present, and we ask for a minimum of one parent helper. *Two weeks advance

A partnership between the Okanagan Boys and Girls Clubs and the City of West Kelowna.

As part of BC’s restart plan, the Westside Youth Centre reopened on June 9th with limited capacity. Staff are available by phone at 250-718-7065 or email at wyc@ bgco.ca for any inquiries or needs that arise. Starting in July, the Westside Youth Centre commenced small group programming. Virtual programing continues on https://www.facebook.com/ BGCOYouth at kits are available. There are Social Distancing measures in accordance with COVID-19 protocols. These include reduced numbers of capacity per program, social distancing markers in place, individualized snacks/meals, and increased cleaning/sanitization measures.

Drop-in Programs 12-19yrs The Westside Youth Centre’s drop-in programs and special events are geared toward youth. The Centre offers free supervised drop-in activities five days per week. Activities include: • Free afternoon snacks and dinner M-F • Nintendo Wii, computers and Internet access • Movies, music, cards and board games • Structured Life Skills, Employment, Leadership, Social Emotional Learning and Arts Programming

*Closed Weekends and Holidays Free! Creative Arts The Westside Youth Centre will be hosting opportunities for youth to engage in creative activities such as tie dying, painting, drawing, crafts and more.

Free! Life Skills Training There will be life skills training opportunities for youth including volunteer opportunities, and guest speakers on topics such as drugs and alcohol, sexual health and employment.

Free! Employment Support Staff are available to assist youth in building employment skills including resume building, job searching, and teaching interview skills.

Free! Youth Leadership The Westside Youth Centre provides a number of opportunities for youth to build leadership skills including volunteer opportunities, youth-led activities and projects and our Youth in Residence program.

Other Youth & Family Services

Free! Reconnect 13-18yrs The Reconnect program provides short term services to youth including parent/teen mediation, advocacy for high-risk youth that are homeless or at-risk of homelessness, alcohol and drug referrals, one on one support, hygiene and contraceptive education and products. Services are available Mon-Fri at the Westside Youth Centre. This program is free of charge. Please call 250-868-8541 Ext 205 to access services.
