The DINGLE NEW MUSIC CHOIR AND ORCHESTRA will be performing in the Diseart at 7.00p.m. on Tuesday 22nd and Wednesday 23rd and their concerts are definitely worth attending especially at this time of year. Well what a wonderful tradition we have here in Corca Dhuibhne with THE WRAN on St Stephens Day. So that this tradition can be passed on to the next generation we are encouraging young people to dress up and join with their respective groups for the first hour of their parades. After that its up to parents/guardians to decide where to spend the rest of Lá an Dreoilin. All the town wrens collect for various local and national charities so please bring plenty change when going out on Saturday next. We request all wren groups to have their street activities completed by 9.p.m to facilitate the free flow of traffic and reduce the risk of accidents or injury on what is one of the most enjoyable days of the year in town.

The RACE NIGHT to raise funds for the Fireworks Display will be held in DANNOS on Tuesday 29th and horses may still be purchased in Sheehys Spar, Supervalu, The Surf Shop, Sweet Pea or Griffins Gift Shop but hurry as entries close shortly. We hope that the night will be well supported as entry is free and bets are only £2 per race. The FIREWORKS DISPLAY will commence at 10p.m. on New Years Eve and what an attraction the event has grown into with people of all ages and nationalities joining in such a wonderful community gathering. Long live the Fireworks Display in Dingle!!!. Then its on to the Dingle Fife and Drum Bands MIDNIGHT PARADE starting from O Flahertys at 11.30 and ringing in the New Year at An Droichead Beag. Here one sees the real magnitude of the tourist attraction which Dingle has somehow cultured for itself and which brings much needed revenue to the entire Peninsula. With just a few shopping hours left just remember that SHOPPING LOCAL secures local employment and if you have run out of time or ideas then a VOUCHER from any local outlet is as popular a present as anything else. Coming up in January we will be rolling out the TEXT ALERT for residents and business outlets in the Dingle catchment area with further details in the next edition. Just heard some exciting news for Feile na Bealtaine and with the Rás coming in May as well as Star Wars and the Powerboat Race in June to add to all the other festivals roll on 2016.

Dingle Film Club Open to Everyone 8.45pm Tuesday Nights
The featured film at the next screening of the Dingle Film Club will be ‘The Lady in the Van’ on Tueday the 29th December . Led by a marvelous performance from Maggie Smith, Lady in the Van wrings poignant, often hilarious insight from its fact-based source material. This film tells the true story of the relationship between Alan Bennett and the singular Miss Shepherd, a woman of uncertain origins who ‘temporarily’ parked her van in Bennett’s London driveway and proceeded to live there for 15 years. The following week the Film club will feature the Film “Carol”. The film follows two women from very different backgrounds who find themselves in an unexpected love affair in 1950s New York. As conventional norms of the time challenge their undeniable attraction, an honest story emerges to reveal the resilience of the heart in the face of change. A young woman in her 20s, Therese Belivet, is a clerk working in a Manhattan department store when she meets Carol (Cate Blanchett), an alluring woman trapped in a loveless, convenient marriage. the innocence of their first encounter dims and their connection deepens. While Carol breaks free from the confines of marriage, her husband (Kyle Chandler) begins to question her competence as a mother as her involvement with Therese and close relationship with her best friend Abby (Sarah Paulson) come to light. 4 West Kerry Live

Dingle Christmas Day Swim This years Christmas Day Swim will take place at Doonsheen Beach at 12.30pm (in the water). The storms of the last few weeks have made it impossible to now swim at Bín Bán as there’s barely a grain of sand left there. Doonshene has already proven to be a popular and successful venue in previous years, it does however throw up a different challenge -the issue of parking space.
CHRISTMAS OPENING HOURS 24th - 10:30am - 4:00pm 25th - CLOSED 26th - CLOSED 27th - CLOSED 28th-31st - 8:30am - 5:00pm 1st Jan - 11:00am - 4:00pm 2nd Jan - 8:30am - 5:00pm
IF it is possible for people to car pool that would be great-if you do decide to drive all the way over then allow an extra 30 mins to get your car out of the spot afterwards. Patience is the key. There is also the option of parking at Bín Bán and walking the remainder of the way. For health and safety reasons the road cannot be blocked.
WE WILL BE CLOSING FROM 10th JAN - 1st FEB
The water temperature is warmer than other years so that is a positive and no matter what everything will always work out.

Farming News
ments are commencing in such a timely fashion to help with their income flow which, in turn, will assist the rural economy.
Louis Murchan Funding Awarded To Animal Welfare Organisations Funding of €2,541,000 has been announced to 140 organisations involved in safeguarding animal welfare throughout the country. The payments will be made with immediate effect. Animal welfare organisations make a tremendous contribution to the welfare of animals, in particular, by educating the public on best practice, by making effective interventions where appropriate and providing facilities for at-risk animals. The increase in workload for animal welfare bodies due to new animal welfare legislation, including the new dog microchipping legislation, and the continuing albeit decreasing reporting of incidences of animal neglect to the Department’s animal welfare helpline clearly demonstrates a need to assist animal welfare organisations in their important work. This is the fifth consecutive year that there has been an increase in funding to animal welfare organisations. Members of the public are asked to exercise discretion when considering gifting animals as pets this Christmas time. Owning pets involves extensive commitment and can be costly and there are clearly instances where such ‘gifts’, which may be well meaning, are often times abandoned by their new owners when the novelty wears off and it is left to the animal welfare charities to deal with the consequences of these abandonments which places unnecessary pressure on their resources. Finally, the Minister stated that he and his Department would continue to work closely with animal welfare groups. He reminded the public of the dedicated email address and helpline in operation in the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine for members of the public to report incidents of animal cruelty. The helpline will be monitored regularly over the holiday period. The phone number for the Helpline is 0761 064408 (Call save) or 01-607 2379, or email animalwelfare@agriculture.gov.ie Organisations in Co Kerry gets only €27,500 from a total national allocation of €2.5 million. Is this a reflection that we need to do more to care for animals in the county. While helpful, this is small potatoes, so if you have any spare cash and want to make a charitable donation this Christmas, why not keep a small puppy alive. And remember, if you get a pet, or Santa Claus brings a pet for Christmas, remember, a pet is for life and not just for the 12 days. Sheep Technology Programme 2015 Payments Begin Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney, TD, today announced that payments under the Sheep Technology Adoption Programme will begin issuing to successful participants in the coming days. “I am pleased to see that these payments are now beginning to issue to the farmers concerned” the Minister said, adding ‘the benefits of this Programme accrue not just to the individual farmers participating but also to the farming sector concerned’. The Minister confirmed that the total budget for this Programme in 2015 is €3 million, with an individual payment rate of €825. Farmers have shown their commitment to the scheme, with some 3,000 farmers successfully completing the 2015 programme. The continuing participation in such knowledge transfer initiatives can only help to further develop the skills base of farmers and thus feed into increased competitiveness and growth in the agri-food sector. Building on the success of the Discussion Group model, the new Rural Development Programme (2014-2020) includes support for the setting up of new Knowledge Transfer Groups across the beef, dairy, sheep, equine, tillage and poultry sectors. Arrangements are now being finalised for the launch of the first tranche of Knowledge Transfer Groups early in 2016. Beef Data Genomics Payments Also Out 2015 payments under the Beef Data and Genomics Programme (BDGP) have also been issued to participating farmers. This is a new and innovative measure introduced as part of Ireland’s Rural Development Programme, from which close to 27,000 Irish suckler farmers will benefit over the next six years. It is a world first in terms of bringing genomic technology to beef farming and has the potential to transform beef breeding, reduce the carbon intensity of our beef production and in so doing help to drive on-farm profitability. These initial payments, worth €28 million, will issue to 15,000 farmers who have verified their compliance with the 2015 requirements. It is particularly important given the difficulties facing farmers at present that these pay-
12 West Kerry Live
It should be noted that BDGP payments will continue to issue on an ongoing basis as famers verify compliance with the 2015 scheme requirements of data notifications and genomic testing. The Department indicated his determination to ensure that payments are maximised over the next few weeks and to this end he urged participating farmers to return all surveys and genotyping samples as soon as possible to facilitate payment. Gallipolii - Christmas 1915 Gallipoli was a disaster. Many died, including many thousands of Irishman, who fought for the freedom of small nations and in the hope of gaining favour with the British Crown, when it was to consider Home Rule for Ireland. As his brainchild, blame for the campaign failure fell directly to Churchill and he resigned from the War Cabinet. To see the situation on location, Field Marshal Kitchener went to Gallipoli in November 1915. He visited the Anzac sector. The decision to pull out was taken on several grounds, the coming of winter and the severe adversity this would bring, given the hills and the ridges and a possibility of rough seas severing supply lines, a direct rail link opening from Germany to Turkey meant Bulgaria (newly allied to Axis) could transport in heavy guns and direct firing 24 cm Austrian mortars, making a Turkish victory inevitable and the realisation in London that the defence organised by the Turkish Army was impossible to break through under the circumstances As planning for an evacuation [Turks call it the retreat] and its implementation began, heavy snow fell at Gallipoli on 28th of November, adding to the misery of soldiers on both sides of the trenches. The stealth of the evacuation (just as the landing) was a success story. The Turks did not realise 40,000 Anzac soldiers were leaving under the cover of night over several weeks. Had they become aware, Turkish soldiers would have rushed the depleted troops, reducing the operation to chaos. Finally, on 20th of December in the early hours of morning, the guns fell silent over the ridges of Gallipoli. The British and the French, operating in the south at Cape Helles, evacuated two weeks later. The Anzac soldiers were jubilant they could spend the Christmas of 1915 in peace on the island of Lemnos. There was also sadness at leaving so many dead comrades behind. The Turks, early in the morning, found out to their amazement that the Anzac soldiers had left and their trenches were empty. They ran down the hill to Anzac Cove, like little children and jumped with joy. There was jubilation in the streets of Istanbul and celebration of the victory against the best armies of the world. A feat not experienced for a century or more. The stores left behind by the Anzacs took several months to be carried away. There were many messages and presents as well. One Anzac soldier, left tins of bully beef and jam on a makeshift table and a note which said: “Don’t forget Johnny, we left – you did not push us off.” Turkish soldiers walked home with heavy heart, to their loved ones for a well earned break. During the nearly 9 months’ of fighting against Allied Forces, the Turkish army had lost 86,000 men, ten times as many as Australians had lost. It decimated the flower of Turkish youth, and just as in Australia, caused endless pain and suffering for generations to come. But the slaughter of young soldiers from both sides had only won a temporary reprieve. Just months later, both sides would be fighting each other again in the Middle East. This would involve mainly the Light Horse as most Anzac infantry had moved to the Western Front. This time the objective was desert oil-fields and the outcome would be exactly as Churchill planned: access to oil. Those who survived, made it through Christmas, but many of these were reassigned to units or as replacement units to the Western Front, where unfortunately many more perished. What has this to do with farming? Nothing, It’s just a story for Christmas. It’s also just a short story of humanity. In a quiet News Week, isn’t it good to have a story of how resilient we are. There have been many such cases of bravery and humanity over the past year, especially in light of the Charlie Hebdo and Paris November attacks. Let us hope we don’t see such attack in 2016. We feel for the families of the victims of these and all other terrorist attacks. May I take this opportunity to wish you all, farmer and non-farmer alike a Very Happy Christmas, and an eventful and prosperous New Year. Thank you, one and all, for your support, and suggestions and keep reading Farming News. We hope to have even more interesting and up-to-date news for you in 2016. HAPPY CHRISTMAS

Our young stars of the future, many of whom were playing their first games of soccer for our club, really enjoyed their games under lights. We would like to thank Camp juniors for having Christmas selection boxes for all the players..... A lovely touch by our neighbours. Many thanks to Oceanworld for helping us with our cake sale recently and also a big thank you to all the shops who gave us spot prizes.

Sr. Teresa Ann was laid to rest at St. Oliver’s Cemetary on Tuesday following Requiem Mass at The Church of The Sacred Heart, Western Road. May her gentle soul rest in peace. MEET UP IN SAN FRANCISCO Martin Falvey left his native Annascaul in 1963 for the far off lands of sunny San Francisco on the West Coast of the USA and made his home there with his lovely American born wife Betty, they raised a family and all are doing very well. The former Annascaul Club GAA footballer knows as much about home as we do and he keeps abreast of things through news in our local newspapers and the internet. Another Annascaul man in San Francisco, Brian Sheehy was hosting the Enterprise Ireland Silicone Valley Pitch in one of his bars on the night I called in and one of the winners happened to be a Kerryman too, a young man named Barry Liston from Ballybunion whose idea “A Skateboard Project” won second prize. And its alot about GAA and football here too and Martin Falvey was last home for the All-Ireland in September and he told me he walked up to the match in Croke Park with Kevin O Shea from Upper Camp, now living down the road in Burlingame,California, an Annascaul club former Goalie too. Martin Falvey is President of the Kerry Club Association for 22 years and was involved in the Development of the United Irish Cultural Centre in San Francisco where the 2nd Thanksgiving Dinner was held on 19th. November and was a great night of entertainmentand Irish song and dance. Mike Bowler whose father hails from Lispole, Joe O Leary from Killarney and Tralee native Claire Raftery, all members of the San Francisco Irish Pipe Band were among the pipers who carried out the tradition of “piping” in the turkey for the Thanksgiving dinner. And David Spillane is a Maharees man in San Francisco, I met him in his ultra modern offices at his company “Stripe” and he told me Jason O Mahony whoom I didn’t have time to meetup with, is in San Francisco too, Jason who worked in Siamsa Tire here at home is involved in the film industry in San Francisco. And Camp sisters, Regina O Connor and Marie Therese Sogabe keep abreast of things with the Irish Bay Area Network, love the Irish events and enjoy meeting visiting Kerry people ! San Francsico may well be on the other side of the world, but our West Kerry people there are still linked very much to home and keeping the Irish culture alive and well in their newfound land ! A Happy Christmas and good luck in 2016 to all of you and to all our friends and family all over the world ! NOLLAIG SHONA DÍBH GO LÉIR I MBAILE IS I GCÉIN.

Hampers for Cyclists The hugely popular Killorglin Cycling Club Hamper ride saw nearly 90 cyclists head out from the Sports and Leisure to tackle two routes – the short one over 50km and the longer distance of 75km. Both routes were controlled by the pace car for approximately two thirds of the route with the controls lifted at Firies for those on the 50km and at Farmers Bridge for the cyclists tackling the longer distance. Once the cyclists are released the race back to Killorglin is fast and furious as the first three riders home in the 75km route and the first rider from the 50km group have the choice of hampers. There are also many other prizes that were drawn amongst the other competitors. Denis the fastest over the 75km: Sliabh Luachra’s Denis Lynch was the clear winner of the longer spin and he was followed home by Moda Kingdom Endurance’s John Brosnan. Oran Pierce from the Tralee Manor West took 3rd place followed home by the first two Killorglin Cycling Club’s riders. Michael O’Shea took the 4th spot with his club-mate Edward Casey in 5th. John’s the 50km man: Riders from the host club, Killorglin, took two of the top three places over the shorter 50km cycle. John O’Donoghue was the first rider home with his club-mate Gabriel Gallagher in third. They were split by David Fitzgerald of Tralee Manor West in second place. 20 West Kerry Live

Scoil Cheoil an Earraigh shocked at Arts Council Cuts Having had the generous support of the Arts Council for Scoil Cheoil an Earraigh for the last 9 years, organisers are still getting over the shock of having Scoil Cheoil an Earraigh's Arts Council funding cut to zero for 2016 (down from €9000 in 2015). ‘Do not fear we are going to come back BIGGER, BETTER and STRONGER. Scoil Cheoil an Earraigh will go ahead. We will continue to offer high quality artistic events with outstanding artists. We will continue to celebrate our tradition and our culture. We will sing, dance, make music. We will enjoy it, share it, nurture it, celebrate it and pass it on to future generations. We are proud of what we do. We believe we do it well. We will not let them get us down.’ Says Niamh Ní Bhaoill, festival co-founder and co-director since the Scoil Cheoil began in Ballyferriter in 2005. ‘The support from the musical and local community has been overwhelming. There is a huge gap in funding - we would really appreciate your support in our fund raising efforts’ says Ní Bhaoill. ‘People can also show their support by letting the Arts Council know what they think of the decision to axe the funding. If you think what Scoil Cheoil an Earraigh is deserving of support from the Arts Council, please add your voice - write to the Arts Council and give them your view on their decision to cut Scoil Cheoil an Earraigh's funding. Please write to paul. flynn@artscouncil.ie and davide.terlingo@artscouncil.ie and cc us here at eolas@scoilcheoil.com’

by Breandán Fitzgerald West Kerry Minor Championship Final 2015 Dingle claimed the West Kerry Minor Championship for 2015 after a convincing win against An Ghaeltacht in the West Kerry Minor Championship Final played last Saturday 12th of December in Páirc an Ághasaigh, Dingle, Dingle 5-8 to An Ghaeltacht 0-8. From the start it was all Dingle and County Minor star Tom Leo O’Sullivan had the ball in the back of An Ghaeltacht net after a great run from his full back position after two minutes of play. O’Sullivan passed to Gareth Hickey Brosnan around the half way line, continued his run after receiving the return and then shot low and gave An Ghaeltacht keeper, Seán Ó Lúing no chance to score the opening goal. Conor Geaney then followed this up with another great individual goal after 5 minutes of play. Máirtín Ó Gormón responded for An Ghaeltacht with a well taken point from play, but points from a Liam Brosnan free, and one each from play for Conor Geaney and Patrick Sheehy kept Dingle firmly in control. The score after 15 minutes, Dingle 2-3 to An Ghaeltacht 0-1. Pádraig Óigí Ó Sé kicked a point from a free kick for An Ghaeltacht but it was Dingle that finished the half stronger with points from play for Conor Geaney and Gareth Hickey Brosnan and a fine goal from Tomás Sheehy to leave the half time score Dingle 3-5 to An Ghaeltacht 0-2. From the restart Tomás Sheehy for Dingle kicked a point from play and shortly after Sheehy kicked his second goal after a great team move. Liam Brosnan followed this up with a couple of points, one from a free and one from play and a well taken goal before An Ghaeltacht kicked their first score of the second half through a well taken Pádraig Óigí Ó Sé point from play on the 15th minute to leave the score Dingle 5-8 to An Ghaeltacht 0-3. An Ghaeltacht continued to bring the game to Dingle and points from Pádraig Óigí Ó Sé, PJ Mac Láimh, Liam Ó Bambaire and two from Cian Ó Murchú brought them back into the game. Dingle’s defence stood firm and well marshalled by Tom Leo O’Sullivan and Aidan O’Connor they stopped An Ghaeltacht from scoring those goals that they so badly needed. With Patrick Sheehy and the impressive Gareth Hickey 28 West Kerry Live
Cathaoirleach Bord Chiarraí Thiar Muiris Ó Fiannachta presented the West Kerry Minor Trophy to Dingle Co Captains Tomás Sheehy and Liam Brosnan. In his victory speech Liam Brosnan thanked his Management Team of Séamus O'Dowd, Seán Geaney, Murt Moriarty, Robbie Griffin and Paul Scanlon and paid special tribute to An Ghaeltacht for the sporting manner in which they played the game. The Dingle Cleaners Man of the Match Award was presented to Garreth Hickey Brosnan of Dingle. Munster Minor Footballer of the Year for 2015 Congratulations to Dingle and Kerry Minor Captain Mark O’Connor on being selected as Munster Minor Footballer of the Year for 2015. This is the second year in a row that a Dingle and Kerry Minor Footballer received this award as Matthew Flaherty won the award in 2014. Mark O'Connor is a worthy winner and this award recognizes the wonderful achievements that Mark has achieved over the last few years, two All-Ireland Minor Titles with Kerry, Two Hogan Cups with Pobalscoil Corca Dhuibhne, Two County Minor Championship Titles and though injured for the 2015 Final, two West Kerry Minor Titles with Dingle. The West Kerry Board would like to wish Mark O’Connor continued success both on and off the field of play. West Kerry U21 Championship Final The last game of the year here in West Kerry, the West Kerry U21 Championship Football Final between An Ghaeltacht and Dingle is scheduled for Tuesday 29th of December at 2pm in Gallarus. With An Ghaeltacht already having beaten Dingle in the County U21 Championship in a closely fought game in Gallarus, this has the makings of a very entertaining game. The Complete Guide to Christmas Dinner Mark Murphy - Dingle Cookery School It is that time of the year again when we get to cook a fabulous feast for Christmas day. The aim of this guide is to allow you to plan ahead and really enjoy what you cook. Since we opened Dingle Cookery School over a year ago we have had great success improving people’s cooking and allowing them to cook with confidence. We always focus on keeping everything simple but tasty and we really work on getting all the simple skills needed to create a beautiful meal so hopefully after reading this step by step guide you will have far less stress cooking this year and should be able to really enjoy what you have prepared. I always find that some people are daunted by the job and are terrified for several reasons such as it being their first time cooking it, or maybe there is a relation is coming over, or for whatever the reason it is to make them feel nervous. I always suggest to them is rather than looking at it as one big job, try to look at it as cooking a turkey, a ham and then serving it with vegetables and a gravy. In this guide I have included cooking times and recipes for the turkey, the ham and all of the vegetables. I have also included a timeline which will help you organise yourself so that you can get a few jobs out of the way maybe the day before. Before you start, make a plan to include the numbers of guests, time of dinner and exactly what you are going to serve. Then, once you figure out what you want to serve, you can write it down and start to draw up a full list of the ingredients you will need and equipment. A plan will also help you to cut down on food waste and stop you from cooking cooking way too much which inevitably will end up in the bin. So when buying food don’t be afraid to decisions about everything you put in your trolley.
Crab and Apple Salad
N.B. If you are including a starter for Christmas day always try to have a cold started as your stove and most of your pots and trays will be used for the main course. Serves 6 Ingredients 800g Crab Meat
Make sure you have a large tray, which is big enough for the turkey, and ensure the tray (and the turkey) fit in to the oven. It is worth buying a temperature probe to test if the turkey is done. You can find these in a good kitchen shop such as Utensils in Tralee; the probe is essential and will guarantee the turkey is cooked. Before you start get the exact weight of the turkey. Make sure the turkey comes to room temperature, this means having it out of the fridge at least two hours before you want to cook it. Before you cook it rub the skin with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and black pepper and some chopped herbs such as thyme or sage. Have the oven turned on to 180ºC before the turkey goes in. People always have different views on the stuffing, whether to stuff the bird or to make stuffing and leave it out. My advice would be to cook the stuffing separately to ensure that there are no uncooked juices of the turkey in the stuffing and I always find that when I keep the stuffing separate I can adjust the seasoning more easily. Ingredients for Cooking the Turkey 1 Turkey 2 onions chopped roughly 3 Carrots roughly chopped
Honey, Mustard & Sherry Vinegar Glaze
Ingredients
2 tbsp. Honey 100g Demerara sugar 50ml Madeira or a Dry Sherry 1 tsp. Mustard Powder 25ml of Sherry Vinegar Method To make the glaze, put the sugar, Madeira, sherry vinegar, and honey into a pan and stir over a low heat. Whisk in the mustard powder. Bring this to the boil to allow the sugar to dissolve. Lower the heat and simmer for a few minutes. Until you have a dark syrupy glaze. Keep stirring all the time to make sure that the glaze doesn’t burn. To Glaze the Ham Place the ham in a tray and pour the glaze over the ham. Put this in a hot oven (210°C) and bake for about 30 minutes.
1 bulb of garlic split in half
All of the following recipes serve six with some for leftovers:
Plenty of Herbs such as thyme, sage and rosemary some chopped and the rest lest whole
Ingredients
Olive Oil Salt and Pepper Method Place the turkey on a large tray. It is good to put some onions, carrots and herbs under the bird as this prevents the turkey from sticking to the pan and also the vegetables will soak in juices, which will taste good when making the gravy. Now you should be ready to cook the turkey. Cooking Times for the Turkey I have had a look at several charts and cooking times but I think the most straightforward guide to: is the following that is simple to follow and provides you with perfect results:
Crispy Roast Potatoes
1.5 Kg large Maris piper potatoes or roosters 2 cloves of garlic Rosemary and thyme Goose fat or duck fat Salt and black pepper Method Preheat oven 190°C Peel the potatoes, then cut into quarters, and place in a bucket of cold water. This can be done the day before. Boil a large pot of salted water and add the potatoes, then cook for 15 minutes. They should be half-cooked at this stage. You now can drain them and leave in the colander for a few minutes to remove as much moisture as possible. At this stage place the tray in the oven with goose fat or duck fat. Shake the potatoes in the colander to roughen the edges, Remove the tray from the oven and add the potatoes and place back in the oven. After 20 minutes you can add the rosemary, thyme and garlic. Continue to roast for a further 20 minutes or so shaking them every 5 minutes to cook evenly. Season with sea salt and black pepper.
Mixture of lettuce leaves (keep them small)
If the turkey is over 4.5kg/10lb, calculate 20 minutes per kg + 90 minutes. If the bird is under 4.5kg/10lb, calculate 20 mins per kg + 70 mins. To test if it's done, make sure the juices run clear when you pierce the thigh where it meets the body and use the temperature probe to check if the temperature reaches 75ºC. If not, put it back in the oven. For another 20 mins, then test again. The next step is one of the most important steps to prevent your turkey from drying out. Once you are happy that the turkey is done take it out and put tin foil over it and leave it in a warm place for at least an hour or so. This will give you plenty of time to get everything else finished off.
Dressing (Rapeseed Oil (3 parts), Cider Vinegar (1 part), Lemon, Salt and Pepper)
Ham (do this the day before)
6 cloves garlic, peeled
Ingredients
1 tbsn. Sherry vinegar
1 Ham (smoked or unsmoked)
2 tbsps. Hazelnuts toasted and crushed
Handful of cloves
Rapeseed Oil
Water
Salt and pepper
Cooking Times and method Place in cold water and bring to boil, change water and repeat, turn down to a simmer, Allow 50 minutes per kg or 20 minutes per kg. Once it is done, remove it from the water and allow it to cool a little. It is best to remove the outer layer of skin while the ham is hot and then use a sharp knife to score the fat in diamond shapes and place a clove in each diamond. Your ham is now ready to be glazed. If you are doing this the day before make sure you cool down the ham as quickly as possible to get it in to a fridge.
Method Heat oven to 210ºC (you can cook this when you are glazing the ham)
1 Apple (Granny Smith or a similar variety) peeled and cored and finely diced 1 Stick celery finely diced 100g Celaraic (very finely diced) 1 Small bunch of fresh chives and fennel finely chopped 80g Crème Fraiche 1 Lemon, juiced 1 tspn wholegrain Mustard Salt and pepper
Method All of this execpt the apple can be prepared the day before. Mix all of the ingredients together, and season. Just before you are planning to serve prepare and dice the apple. Mix everything together well and season with salt, pepper and lemon juice. To serve put a nice spoon of the mixture on the centre of a plate, dress the leaves and place them on top of the crab. If you have some nice smoked salmon, you could always put a slice down first and then lay the crab on top.
Cooking the Turkey
Before you start check that you have a few items in your house, which will help you cook the turkey.

Roast Brussels Spouts with Roast Garlic & Toasted Hazelnuts Ingredients
2 small bags of Brussels sprouts
Cut the bottom off the Brussels sprouts, and slice each in half top to bottom. Heat a pan over medium heat; once it is hot place the sprouts cut side down in one layer in pan. Put in garlic, and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Leave the sprouts here until they start to brown. Once they start to brown add a little butter and put them in the oven. Roast them in the oven for about 15-20 minutes remembering to shake them
every 5 minutes or so. When they are done season them well and add in the vinegar, toss the hazelnuts over them and serve.
Roast Parsnip and Carrots with Local Honey and Thyme
Gravy Ingredients 1 Onion finely diced 1 carrot finely diced
Ingredients
1 clove of garlic
600g carrots halved
Bunch of chopped herbs
600g small parsnips halved
Pinch of flour (use gluten-free if you can’t have gluten)
3 tbsp rapeseed oil Bunch of thyme leaves picked 2 tbsp local honey 2 tsp lemon juice Chopped Parsley Method In a large pot of boiling salted water add the carrots and cook them for about 8 minutes, once they are par-cooked place them in cold water. Repeat this process with the parsnips. (this part can be done the day before if you want) To roast them preheat the oven to 190°C . Place the carrots and parsnips in a large roasting tin with the thyme and salt and pepper, drizzle with oil. Roast them in the oven for 25 minutes, tossing occasionally in the oil during cooking, until tender and golden. Heat the honey and lemon juice for a few minutes in a small saucepan, stirring until you have a smooth, runny sauce. Pour this over the carrots and parsnips for the last 5 minutes of cooking, tossing the vegetables in the sauce to coat evenly. Scatter with the parsley just before serving.
Red Cabbage Braised in Cider
100ml of red wine 500ml of stock (use the juice for the turkey) Salt and Pepper Method Once the turkey has been cooked and you have removed it from the tray, skim off the excess fat from the roasting tray. Put the tray on the hob on a low heat and add the diced onion, garlic, herbs and the diced carrot to the existing vegetables that were there while the turkey was cooking. Add the red wine and cook it until it has reduced by half. Make sure to scrape the tray to help remove all the juices. Stir in a pinch of flour and add about 500ml of stock. Cook it for about 10-15 minutes, I usually stain it in to a pot so it can be warmed and seasoned with salt and pepper when needed. Once you are ready to serve the meal heat the gravy and pour it in to a warm gravy boat.
Homemade Cranberry and spiced Orange Sauce (This is easy and is well worth doing) Ingredients 100ml ruby port
N.B This is perfect made a few days before Ingredients Head of Red Cabbage, sliced very finely
100g fresh cranberries
2 apples sliced
Finely grated zest and juice of 1 orange
1 red Onion, chopped
½ cinnamon stick
2 tbsp cider vinegar
1 star anise
1 tbsp rich dark brown sugar
Method Place all the ingredients in a pot and cook over medium heat for about ten minutes. Make sure that there is some liquid still in the pot so the sauce does not burn, if it is drying up add a little water or a little orange juice. Taste and adjust season if required. Remove cinnamon and star anise and place in a blender and blend until it is the consistency required. Place this in a jar and keep in the fridge for up to one week.
Cider to come up ¾ way in pan (try to use a dry cider) Salt and Pepper Method Heat oil in a small frying pan. Add in the onion and fry gently until very soft. Mix together the fried onion, vinegar and sugar. Add red cabbage and add mulled wine to come up on the red cabbage about ¾ way, cover the cabbage with some parchment paper and cook very slowly for 2 hours (make sure to stir it every now and then to ensure it is not sticking to the pot, add a little water if it is).
75g brown sugar
Tasty Vegetarian Option
oil, cover the foil and place in the oven for about 15 minutes. Once it is browned slice this very finely. Sweat the onions in a pot over a medium heat. Add in the chilli and cook for a further 2 minutes. At this stage you can add the red pepper and a pinch of salt. Allow this to cook gently for a few minutes. You are building a nice depth of flavour by taking your time here. Add in the garlic and stir it all together. Put this mix in an ovenproof dish. Then arrange the sweet potatoes neatly in the dish, Cover with some oil and salt and pepper. Cover with foil and bake for about 25 minutes or so. Season this well with salt and pepper. Remove the foil and increase the oven to 205ºC and bake for about 10 minutes For the dressing you need to remove the seeds from the pomegranate - the trick to this is to place the pomegranate on a board with the centre piece (the crown) pointing upwards, half way down the fruit use a small knife cut into the skin all the way round. Pick up the pomegranate and twist both ends in opposite directions to leave you with two halves and no mess. Hold the fruit over a bowl with the seeds facing into the direction of the bowl using a rolling pin or a large wooden spoon gently tap the pomegranate until all the seeds are removed. Now that you have the beautiful red seeds removed you can proceed to make the dressing. Heat some oil gently in a pot. Add the orange segments, some juice and zest, and season with sherry vinegar. Add the coriander, taste and add salt and pepper to season. Once the sweet potato has softened but still has a small bite, remove from the oven, serve immediately and sprinkle the dressing over it.

Christmas Sports Tadgh Evans While many things grind to a halt over the Christmas Period, most notable our ability to remember what day of the week it is, one of the few things that we can depend on is a fortnight of great sports events to stare at as we nurse hangovers and think of ways to use up the remnants of an overfed turkey. Here are just a few of the highlights of the winter warmers ahead: Premier League Football ‘They said ‘Thierry, is this the best league?’ I said, ‘let me get back to you’.’ At the time, Sky Sports’ propaganda reel for the 2015/16 Premier League season was roundly deemed a magnificent piece of promotion, even when measured against their far-less-than-modest efforts over these last twenty-three years. That was August, and it seemed as if ninety seconds of watching a superimposed Henry looking on at some of the greatest moments in the league’s history would be enough for us all to leave our sitting rooms convinced that the English top flight remains the standard bearer in world football. It isn’t. What recently assumed the guise of an outrageously slick and beautifully made piece of advertising is now the kind of drivel that will keep comedy sketch writers interested for decades to come. This isn’t 2008. The Premier League isn’t the best league in the world, hasn’t been for quite some time, and the innocent minds that continue to swear by the top rung of English football are finally a dying breed. Sky Sports’ indoctrination can only go so far. We know this because England’s top teams have been desperately average in European competition this season. Manchester United’s hapless degeneration in the wake of Alex Ferguson’s departure has been accentuated by premature elimination from the 2015/16 Champions League, Arsenal will surely be butchered by the resplendent defending champions Barcelona, while Chelsea’s awfulness in their domestic travails this season hardly marks them out as contenders for European glory. Manchester City’s once considerable soul drowned seven years ago in the pool of Arabian oil that its owners possess, and though they provide a home for many exceptional talents, they’ve consistently proven that they are weaker than the sum of their parts. Be that as it may, the Premier League continues to enthral, and behind the irritating pretence of its grand claims resides genuine entertainment. Though most of the league’s supporters can rightly shiver at the thought of another title being near-literally bought by Manchester City, a great sense of warmth emanates from the efforts of Leicester City. It’s Leicester, and not the blue side of Manchester, that will sit at the top of the Premier League on Christmas Day, a possibility that was priced at 1000/1 at the start of the season, and understandably so. Twelve months ago, they were anchored to the competition’s seabed, and duly became only the second team in the league’s history to avoid relegation having been bottom at Christmas. Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy have arguably been the two most notable players in the entire league up to this point of the season, and have been invaluable in ensuring that the would-be scramblers find themselves beadily staring down at some of world football’s most famous names. Over Christmas they will attempt to hold their footing amidst back-toback challenges from Manchester City and a more hopeful Liverpool outfit shepherded by the affable Jurgen Klopp. The Foxes’ hunt for the title will inevitably be shot down at some point of the season, and the Christmas litmus test might well prove too challenging. But a decent haul of points over the festive period would surely be the catalyst in securing a remarkable invitation to next season’s Champions League. Leicester’s engagements protrude as the eye-catchers of what is conceivably the most exciting time of the year in the English football calendar. Horseracing Though Sky Sports’ preoccupation with Premier League football might lead you to believe that Christmas has nothing to offer sports fans other than helpings from ‘the best league in the world’, their claims are, would you believe, hollow. 32 West Kerry Live
The jumps racing season always simmers along gently before arriving at an irresistible boil for the Cheltenham festival in March. Prior to that, the yuletide season provides the most plentiful servings for racing fans, and 2015 carries with it immense promise. The King George VI Chase will be the poorer for the absence of Gold Cup winner Coneygree, but the old game’s second most prestigious chase can still offer a line-up of searing quality. The Paul Nicholls trained Silviniaco Conti will be bidding for a third consecutive win in the race, but the 9-year old has been cut adrift from the triumvirate of Don Cossack, Vautour and Cue Card in the betting market. Colin Tizzard’s Cue Card seceded wearily with the race seemingly at his mercy two years ago, but his imminent backers will point to an imperious performance in crushing Silviniaco Conti at Haydock in November as the font of their faith. But the battle that many see as most likely to manifest itself might well be between Willie Mullins’ sensational Vautour and Gordon Elliot’s Don Cossack. The latter was a disappointing third in last March’s Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham, but his form this season has garnered two easy wins. Vautour has arguably been the most impressive performer at the last two Cheltenham festivals, and could well be the first past the post in the Gold Cup’s next renewal, but an unimpressive seasonal reappearance at Ascot holds true to his oft indifferent early season form. On the same day at the same racecourse, his stablemate and champion hurdler Faugheen will be looking to banish the memory of his shock defeat in November’s Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown with victory in the Christmas Hurdle. The excitement will continue at Kempton when former champion chaser Sprinter Sacre should go to post as favourite for December 27th’s Desert Orchid Chase as he petitions to continue his resurgence from the wilderness, while RSA Chase winner Don Poli will be favourite for a star-studded Lexus Chase, the traditional highlight of Leopardstown’s Christmas Festival. PDC World Darts Championship Following darts’ acrimonious split 22 years ago, the game has been left with two organisations who are about as friendly to each other as two dangerously idle Kerry farmers arguing over a small patch of waterlogged ground for the sake of having something to focus their minds on. Of the two organisations, the PDC is clearly superior to its disappointing sister. While its glitz, glamour and beer-fuelled crowds might not sit well with darts’ purists, the organisation has done an exceptional job in dragging the sport from the languid reputation that once undermined it. While many of the ‘athletes’ who participate still struggle to stretch their shirts over bellies that protrude like the Corca Dhuibhne peninsula, their accuracy is a skill that can only be marvelled at, and the ongoing championship itself makes for absorbing entertainment. The first round tends to be little more than a procession, with the championship genuinely getting underway with the second round, which starts on the 26th of December. 2014 winner Michael Van Gerwen is the clear favourite to claim the Sid Waddell trophy, with the most testing opposition set to be flung by defending champion Gary Anderson, and the legendary 16-time winner Phil Taylor. Little Caribou Animation studio Barley Films arrived in Dingle in September to produce “Little Caribou” a feature length hand drawn animated film. According to director Barry O’Donoghue, the move was inspired by the “sheer beauty and powerful creative magnetism of the Corca Duibhne region”. Nine animators are currently drawing each frame of the film by hand to create the performances of the main characters and a variety of Arctic wildlife. The studio is also producing a documentary on the creative process featuring many of the artists, potters, weavers and other artisans working on the peninsula. Both films will be ready to share with audiences in 2016.

Herbs and Spices, not just for Christmas! Irene Ní Fhlannúra Preparations for Christmas are well underway and judging by the countless celebrity chefs on TV, the pressure is on to produce a feast to knock the socks off the mantlepiece! It is important to have some key ingredients for the Christmas menu, but for many - the herbs, spices and other festive foods are forgotten about once the last mince pie is eaten and left languishing in the back of the cupboard for next 12 months. Warm, aromatic spices such as cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg feature in many Christmas recipes but did you know that these spices can bring cheer to your health long after the decorations come down? The same can be said for herbs like sage, rosemary, parsley and thyme which are easily grown in the garden for a continuous supply of beneficial plants to add to your favourite meals. Make the most of your shopping and discover ways to include some of the most celebrated Christmas flavours well into the New Year. CINNAMON - probably the greatest Christmas smell of all! While it features in many Christmas recipes you may still find that you have plenty left over and not sure what to do with it! In recent years research on cinnamon has been mainly focused on its favourable effect on blood sugar. It naturally enhances the action of insulin, making it more effective regulating blood sugar. It is most beneficial sprinkled on carbohydrates such as cereals, grains and fruits - the foods most responsible for raising blood sugars in the first place. If using the cinnamon quills for making mulled wine this Christmas - use any left over quills for making delicious warm fruit teas for the cold days ahead. A hot Apple & Ginger Toddy (without the alcohol) is a lovely warm treat - use 1L fresh apple juice (not from concentrate), a small chunk of fresh grated ginger and a 1or 2 cinnamon quills. Place in a saucepan and gently heat - turn off the heat just before it comes to the boil and allow to steep for 10 minutes. CLOVES - Whole cloves are the unopened flower buds of the clove tree. They contain significant amount of an active component called Eugenol, which is a volatile oil contained in the bud. It is mildly analgesic and has been used for centuries for tooth pain and in dentistry. Cloves are still used in natural medicine to eliminate parasites, fungi and harmful bacteria from intestines. Nowadays, eugenol has been subject of many health studies including those on the protection of the effects of environmental pollutions, cancers of the digestive tract and joint inflammation. Pierce a peeled onion with whole cloves and add to soups, broths and poaching liquids. You can also add ground cloves to cumin, coriander and turmeric for an Indian-inspired flavour and much needed anti-inflammatory health benefits.
THYME - grows very well here in West Kerry and imparts a wonderful flavour to most dishes. Can be added to slow-cooked meals or used as a tea for chest ailments - cough, phlegm conditions, whooping cough and bronchitis. Thyme is a common active ingredient in most herbal remedies for coughs and colds. ROSEMARY - probably a personal favourite as it is a real all-rounder and a great addition to both the garden and the kitchen. Rosemary is hailed for a variety of reasons including its anti-inflammatory effect, a pain-killer, boosts circulation, a heart tonic and increase mental performance. Greek scholars used to wear a garland of rosemary while studying to improve memory and concentration. It is also a symbol of friendship, loyalty and remembrance - perfect for Christmas time when we think of those who have passed on and celebrate in the company of family and friends around us. NUTMEG - helps calm the mind, reduce anxiety and promote better sleep. It was often added to warm milk at bedtime for a restful night. It is also famed for its detoxifying effects - supports the liver, soothes digestion, stomach cramps and intestinal bloating. A little grated into the evening meal will add flavour to most dishes without over-powering them. Nutmeg is particularly good with Italian-style meals, creamy dishes and rice dishes (sweet and savoury). The most famed herbs for the Christmas dinner have featured in traditional natural remedies down through the ages. Before the chefs got their oven mitts on them, they were reliable remedies used for a variety of purposes. Again, modern science has validated what natural healers and herbalists have known for a long time. SAGE - a pungent herb, best used in smaller amounts. Sage tea and sage tincture is one of the best natural remedies for symptoms of menopause such as night sweats and hot flushes. Fresh sage leaves can be steeped in boiling water and the liquid drunk throughout the day to reap the hormonebalancing effects. Sage is also an effective anti-bacterial for mouth and throat infections when used as a gargle. 36 West Kerry Live

Lispole Carl O’ Flaherty The best location from which to view Lispole is the lofty heights of the An Stricín (2001 ft). On a fine day it offers a panoramic view of its extensive hinterland. Glance eastwards at An Cnapán Mór which is the highest point of the parish at 2134 ft and observe the Marian Cross which was originally placed on its summit in 1954 and replaced in 2012. Continue east past Puckisland and pause at Áth na Leac which forms its eastern border. Most of the land is comprised of hillside and moor. However, a cluster of villages, namely Lisdorgan, Gualainn, Boherbrack and Gowlane hug the fertile areas at the mountain slopes. Train your eye south to Minard East where the castle evokes memories from Cromwellian times. Here also lies Beál na gCloch which has as many rounded stones on the beach as there are stars in the sky. Nearby, the sacred Tobar Eoin awaits the weary pilgrim. Linger at the well and imbibe in its curative waters. Legend decrees that it cures all ailments from the shoulder to the crown of the head. Many locals will attest to its success. This unobtrusive, shady nook is a haven of peace and tranquillity. Release your soul from earthy tensions and submit to its early Celtic presence. Bypass this hallowed site at your peril! Adjacent to the well is the slipway. It can easily be bypassed or you may fail to notice it. Just follow the pathway for another fifty paces and you will be well rewarded. It's an ideal location on a sunny day to linger on the slip and read the paper,do a crossword or just tóg sos beag, relaxez-vous sil vous plait. You may have to share this nook with a ringed plover, a turnstone or a curious seal. You are spoilt for choice, open your eyes and delight in the togha agus rogha of defiant castle, multi shaped red sandstones, or glance across Dingle bay and follow a gannet on it's homeward journey to the Skellig Rock. The house situated near the slip is the former coastguard station, which acted as the eyes and ears of her majesty's navel service in colonial years. Here many of the local youth joined the navy, mostly to avoid starvation, including Tom Crean whose bravery and adventurous spirit is celebrated worldwide. Follow his footsteps to his homestead in Ballinclár and visit his final resting place. Then, continue west to the bountiful Glen Minard, the eerie slopes of Greenfields and the defiant Bullhead and Beál. Here, the Siorrach Seitreach (Tall Sea Stack) or neighing foal echoes its call to the motherland with a series of crashing waves. Historically, Lispole abounds with antiquities and early Christian remains (refer to Corca Dhuibhne , Archaelogical Survey by Judith Cuppage). The countryside is endowed with ringforts, more than forty in total. There are clusters of six in Gowlane, four in Ardamore and Minard and three in Ballynasare, Lisdorgan, Kinard and Reenboy. The area contains in excess of ten standing stones, including the three stone alignment in Ardamore which defiantly overlooks the Short Strand. Eight 38 West Kerry Live
holy wells adorn the parish; Tobar Mhártain (Ballineesteenig), Tobar Thomaís (Garrynadur), Tobar Fionáin (Kinard East), Tobar Muire (Kinard West), Tobar Michíl (do), Tobar Eoin (Kilmurry), an Tobar Caoch (Maumagarrane) and a final one in Lisdargan, where the pilgrams gathered on Good Fridays before sunrise. It would be nice if a visit to the eight wells or standing stones could be incorperated into the féile programe in the future! The wells were a hive of activity in olden times, offering cures for a multitude of ailments such as sore throats, impaired vision and mental illness. Large crowds assembled on pattern days to do the religious rounds. However, by the mid nineteenth century they were embroiled in anti-social behaviour almost countrywide. The music, singing and dancing were overshadowed by excess drinking and fighting. The church imposed wide-ranging bans, the old traditions lapsed into obscurity and the wells fell into disrepair. Ironically, as church attendances declined dramatically in the new millennium there has been a revival in Celtic spirituality and holy wells and pattern days are showing signs of revival. There is also a veritable selection of bullaun stones, souterrains, fulachta fiadh, rock art, calluraghs (cooking places) and burial grounds. A visit to the decorative cross slab at Ardamore or Púicín an Chairn (megalithic tomb) is forever a joy and worth sharing with friends. Lispole would be an ideal location for a multifaceted interpretive centre where rambling groups, hill-walkers, archaeological tours and language groups could bring much needed income into the parish. Padraig Ó Siochfradha (An Seabhac) offers many historical insights and explanations of the area. A leper colony is reported to have existed in Ballyristeen at Clocán na Labhar. Just as intriguing was the proposal for a canal to be undertaken on the river Lóndraigh from Puckisland to the Short Strand. The scheme was initiated and a portwall was constructed. However, the local landlords, Hussey and Hickson, abandoned the project due to lack of funding. What a pity! Can you imagine a fleet of gondolas laden with tourists gasping with excitement as they transverse under the railway aqua duct? Eventually reaching their destination in Puckisland, they alight and avail of the wild scenery and potter around the coffee shops – Yes! Lispole the Venice of Ireland! The Londraigh river rises in the lake at Bearna na Gaoithe. An extract from the “Ordnance Survey Ireland name books 1824/42, reveals an interesting tale ”.....a tradition that a man named Landers lived in Foheraghmore who to perpetuate his name caused the milk of thirty two cows to be spilled for six days down the river. He lived in a great house and after his death this mansion was called “Foheraghmore” or the great ruins from which also the townland is called...” In more recent history, Lispole is remembered as the location where the I.R.A. engaged the Black and Tans during the War of Independence. They were led by James Fitzgerald o/c (The Bridge, Lispole). Three ambush volunteers, Tom Ashe(Kinard and relation of hunger strike victim, Thomas Ashe), Maurice Fitzger-

ald (Doonties) and Thomas Hawley (Tralee) died in the exchanges. A memorial cross marks the site on the roadside. Lispole is similar to an ancient Irish principality with a modest population of nearly eight hundred people. It contains nearly forty sheep and dairy farms and is still defying the odds against the European beef barons. How long more they will survive is anyone’s guess but they are a dynamic and unyielding community. The parish has punched well above its weight in all areas of Irish life, both social and political. Irish freedom fighter Tomás Ághas who died on hunger strike in 1917 came from Kinard. Sporting legends Bill Casey, Johnny Moriarty and Liam Higgins were notable Gaelic footballers and assisted the Kingdom in gaining many Sam Maguire triumphs. Paudie Fitzgerald scaled to the pinnacle of Irish cycling when he won the Ras Tailteann in 1956. Present Lispole natives include politician Joe Higgins and Sr. Stanislaus Kennedy founder of Focus Ireland. It would be an aberration and a lie to recall my childhood and not relate the affinity between Paguines's bar and the people of Lispole . Since the establishment of O'Flaherty's Bar in 1958 my father Paguine had a close relationship with the eastern parish. There was no particular reason for this but a number of factors certainly came into play. The bar's location at Bridge Street meant that it was an ideal meeting place for patrons either entering or leaving the town. Whereas most households these days have access to at least one motor vehicle, this was not the case in the mid sixties. The majority of country people relied on the bus,Tomáseen Keane's mini bus, Fred Sheehy's taxi or a spin from one of the few cars in the parish. Most noteworthy was the fact that Paguine's was the nearest bar to Páirc an Ághasaigh which was the town's Gaelic football field. This was an era when football teams had no clubhouses or training facilities. Lispole and An Ghaeltacht football teams played all their matches on the Dingle pitch. For practical purposes all the local teams relied on a public house as an unofficial clubhouse. The quayside team (Na Piarsaigh) met in Bob Griffins, always called Poggins in Strand Street. The John Street team met in Johnny 'the Post' O'Connors and Lispole congregated in Paguines. The Lispole team had a long and distinguished history which pre-dated the foundation of the Gaelic Athletic Association. Gaelic football seemed to be ingrained in their DNA as this brief account from Siobhán Hanafin (Lisdorgan) during the 1880's testify. Football was then referred to as 'Caid' which was a roughhouse form of the game where each team tried to bring the caid home to their own parish '…..........there was always great tiomáint when Lisdorgan opposed Dunshean. They played on Christmas day when Dunshean came to capture the caid..... they assembled at O'Rourke's, the shoemaker's meadow and faced south towards their own parish. Seán Fitzgerald was their captain …...... he wore long stockings and knee high trousers and was dressed like a gamecock! The Lisdorgan team stood to the south and faced
their homes in order not to surrender the caid..... many discarded their Sunday clothes and were dressed in white drawers …... they wore large boots with peirceanna...... it wasn't long before hostilities broke out …. bhí rútaí aitinn is maidí acu...... many suffered bloody injuries before the Dunshean natives made bold their escape. D'réir mar bhidís ag dul síos thar muintir Lios Deargáin gheibhaidís buile de rúta aitinn. The toughest man on the team was Sullivan from Flemingstown. Moriarty from Lisdargan wrote a song of celebration Seán a'tSeanabhaile (an gamecock) Ag imeacht agus druinn ar Ag eálú cois na gclathach Is ag dul isteach sa diógaibh Within four years, in 1888 Lispole was formally established as a club within the rules of the new association. Their rise was meteoric and within twenty years they were competing with the elite teams in the county. Thomas Ashe, patriot, musician, teacher was the guiding light of the Lispole team which participated in the Kerry Senior Championship. He was both trainer and player in he senior county final of 1907 in which the Tralee Mitchells were victorious. The team disbanded during the troubles but were reformed again in 1956. By the mid sixties Lispole were again competitive in the West Kerry division. The team had a large and faithful following. Their supporters always congregated on the Alpine House sideline and often encroached onto the pitch side. In truth, this was a practice which all teams seem to adapt and engage in encouragement or whatever was needed to drive their teams forward. Tom Connor (Grague), complete with walking stick, was their spiritual leader and he occasionally became embroiled in the play. This never inhibited him from casting a swing at a player from the opposing side if the opportunity arose. Fortunately, he never succeeded. He had plenty of rivals from the other teams who were just as capable at throwing a swipe, leg or shoulder at a passing Lispole player while the game was in full flow. The present team still play with pride and passion. Unfortunately, they were beaten by St. Senan’s in the recent county novice final. The manager is Brendan O'Shea, trainer John Dorgan and captain Donncha Higgins. The team wear the unique green and gold vertical stripes which were adopted by the club during the 1940's. Mystery still surrounds the origins of the jersey. One version relates that the team were playing in Tralee and were kitted out in an array of different geansaí. Prior to the game Kilmoyley hurling club were playing and they lent their green and gold set to Lios Póil. The jerseys had seen better days and the north Kerry lads had departed home before the end of the football match. The lios Póil lads headed west with the colours and have retained them ever since.

My father Paguine was an unapologetic Lispole supporter. He admired their pride of parish, ruggedness and unquenchable spirit. They contested their first final in years in 1966 against Castlegregory. The teams were lead around the field by Denny Joe Griffin's accordion band. Thomas 'the Champion' Griffin lead the parade with the tricolour held boldly in his hand. The match turned out to be a damp squib. It rained goals and the Castle lads put Lispole to the sword. Within a year Lispole would return and achieve a notable victory. Kerry footballer Séamus Murphy was their trainer and he was ably assisted by Jackie Dowling.Paguine's bar was packed to the rafters as the cup was filled and refilled in celebration. These victories were just a stepping stone and a bridge to the all conquering Lispole team who achieved an unbelievable six west Kerry championships in a row from 1982 to 87. However, just as noteworthy was the development of a pristine playing pitch and a clubhouse in the parish comparable with any club in the country. The whole parish got behind the project. However, special mention should be given to the leadership of John L O'Sullivan and Johnny Barrett. The field was officially opened in 1979 in a star studded game between Dublin and Kerry. During the mid sixties I spent more time in the bar than I did in my own home in Grey's Lane. Like all youngsters I was attracted by the colourful characters among the loyal clientèle that frequented the small snug including, Sean 'Carney' O'Sullivan, Jama Griffin, Jimmy 'Jippy' Griffin, Francie Hickson, Danny Dan 'The Caonaí' O'Sullivan, Gearoíd Garret Fitzgerald, Michael Brosnan (Goulainn), Laurence Kavanagh and many many more. IRISH LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT IN CLOGHANE-BRANDON
Halla Le Chéile will be closed for Christmas from the 18th of December until Monday the 4th of January 2016. Thank you for your continued support and loyalty during 2015. We have put together a sample of some of the fantastic work the committee, CFLT team and local groups have carried out in 2015. I and the committee would like to take this opportunity to wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from everyone at Halla Le Chéile!
COLÁISTE LURGAN CLOSES THE COLÁISTE GAEILGE AN LEITH TRIÚIGH WITH A BANG! Comharchumann Forbartha an Leith-Triúigh could not have asked for a more successful Coláiste Gaeilge. The Irish language course attracted people of all ages, from all backgrounds and with different levels of Irish. Students truly experienced life in the Gaeltacht. There were cooking demos from the prestigious Dingle Cookery School, fishing trips on the Wild Atlantic Way with Brandon Boat Hire where students caught fresh mackerel, traditional sing song at the local Tinteán Ceoil, Session Ceoil in O Donnell’s Bar and hillwalking through the breathtaking Loch a’ Dúin. To finish the course there was a big surprise for students young and old, Coláiste Lurgan’s Cian Mac Gearailt and Clíona Nic Gearailt treated students to a music workshop. The blockbuster song Síoraí Spraoi “Cheerleader” le OMI as Gaeilge could be heard from every corner of the Parish of Cloghane-Brandon. The wheels are already in motion on what can be done for next year! Bhí bliain den scoth ag an gColáiste Gaeilge! Ghlac go leor daoine páirt ann idir óg agus aosta, agus bhí na múinteoirí ag freastal ar gach uile leibhéal cumais Gaeilge chomh maith. Chomh maith le ranganna Gaeilge gach lá bhí taispeántais chócaireachta ón Dingle Cookery School, turasanna mara le Duántacht Bhréanainn, ceol traidisiúnta sa Tinteán Ceoil agus cnocadóireacht i ngleann fíor-álainn Loch a’ Dúin. Chuir Cian Mac Gearailt and Clíona Nic Gearailt ó Choláiste Lurgan críoch leis an gColáiste Gaeilge le hamhrain Síoraí Spraoi a bhí, ní foláir, le cloisint mórthimpeall an pharóiste go léir! Táimid tosnaithe ar ár bpleananna do Choláiste Gaeilge 2016 cheana féin!
DISPENSING INFORMATION AT THE CLOGHANE BRANDON TOURIST INFORMATION AND HERITAGE CENTRE
Due to the inclusion of Cloghane-Brandon in the Wild Atlantic Way the community has seen a significant increase in passing traffic. People travelling the Wild Atlantic Way are spoilt for choice with the views, activities, restaurants, types of accommodation, pubs, etc. The people of Cloghane-Brandon noticed that visitors weren’t getting out of their cars and knew that something needed to be done. In July 2015, with the help of the local people, Údarás and local businesses, Comharchumann Forbartha an Leith-Triúigh opened a Tourist Information and Heritage Centre to help promote the area and give tourists much needed information on the spectacular area of Cloghane-Brandon. In the space of one month we had 800 people visiting the centre. Next steps for the Tourist Information and Heritage Centre are to see to it that the centre is Fáilte Ireland approved and to seek funding that will enable us to hire staff during the summer months. Toisc go bhfuil Clochán-Bréanainn anois mar chuid de Shlí an Atlantaigh Fhiáin, tá méadú mór tagtha ar líon na tráchta ócáidiúla a bhíonn ag gabháil tríd an bpobal seo atá lonnaithe faoi bhun Chnoc Bréanainn. Tá raidhse gníomhaíochtaí, bialanna, lóistíní, pubanna, radharcanna srl ar fáil do dhaoine atá ag taisteal ar Shlí an Atlantaigh Fhiáin. Mar thoradh ar seo ní bhíonn go leor ama ag daoine taithneamh a bhaint as na sráidbhailte beaga atá mar chuid de Shlí an Atlantaigh Fhiáin. Thuig muintir Clochán- Bréanainn go raibh gá ann díriú isteach ar rud éigin a dhéanamh go práinneach. I mí Iúil 2015, le cabhair ón bpobal áitiúl, ón Údarás agus ó ghnóanna áitiúla, d’oscail Comharchumann Forbartha an Leith-Triúigh Ionad Eolais Turasóireachta agus Oidhreachta chun an ceantar áitiúil a chur chun cinn agus turasóirí a chur ar an eolas faoi réigiún mórthaibhseach ChlochánBréanainn.

Comharchumann Forbartha an Leith-Triúigh has been working very hard as part of the Corca Dhuibhne Meitheal Plean Teanga to develop the Irish Language. Caitríona has been attending meetings to drive language development. A public meeting was held in May at Halla Le Chéile to identify what the community wants and needs in terms of language development. As a result of this meeting a new www.cflt.ie website is being developed to promote the great work that is being done in Cloghane-Brandon as a result of our location in the Gaeltacht. Drama and Music workshops have been held to give Children the opportunity to express themselves through the medium of Irish. These workshops have been driven by the incredible Seirbhís Iarscoile team. There are many plans in place for 2016 and what we can do for the language! We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Glór na nGael who won €1,500 for all their hard work promoting the Irish language. Best of luck in the future! Tá Caitríona Ní Churráin agus Comharchumann Forbartha an Leith-Triúigh ag obair go dian mar chuid do Mheitheal Plean Teanga Chorca Dhuibhne chun an Ghaeilge a fhorbairt. Reachtáileadh cruinniú i mí Bealtaine i Halla Le Chéile chun riachtanaisí an phobail a aithint ó thaobh forbairt na teangan de. Mar thoradh ar an gcruinniú seo beartaíodh suíomh greasáin nua a fhorbairt de www.cflt.ie chun an obair iontach atá bainte amach i gClochán-Bréanainn, go háirithe toisc é a bheith lonnaithe sa Ghaeltacht, a chur chun cinn. Cuireadh ceardlanna ceoil agus dramaíochta ar siúl do leanaí, le cabhair ón bfoireann sa Seirbhís Iarscoile, chun an Ghaeilge a spreagadh iontu. Tá go leor tuairimí againn maidir leis an Ghaeilge a spreagadh i 2016. Ba dheas linn comhghairdeachas a ghabháil le Glór na nGael a bhuaigh €1,500 le déanaí toisc an obair atá curtha isteach acu le haghaidh an Ghaeilge a chur chun cinn. Go n-éirí go geal libh sa todhchaí!

FÉILE LÚGHNASA 2015
The rain did not dampen the spirits of this year’s Féile Lúghnasa. Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh did the honours of opening the festival on the Friday night. The Hy Breasal Theatre group entertained the crowd with “Mikey Tatey Uimhir a hAon”. Some highlights of the festival included; sandcastle building, triathlon, sports days, parade, blessing of the boats, Talent competition, and Curragh display. The financial support (€3,000) given to the festival by Fáilte Ireland this year was a great boost. It enabled the committee to promote the festival on more platforms thus reaching a far larger market. Thank you to the support of locals business, Féile Lúghnasa committee members, Údarás na Gaeltachta and people who attended the events and made them a success. Who knows what crazy and exciting events the Féile Lúghnasa committee will come up with for 2016! Níor chuir an bháisteach isteach ná amach ar atmaisféar Féile Lúghnasa i mbliana. Micheál O Muircheartaigh a d’oscail an Fhéile ar an Aoine. Bhí sár-oiche ag an bhFéile Lúghnasa, nuair a cuireadh “ Mikey Tatey Uimhir a hAon” i láthair ag an Hy-Breasal Theatre. Seo a leanas cuid de bhuaicphointí na Féile; ag tógaint caisleán gainimhe, trí-atlan, lá spóirt, paráid, beannú na mbád, seó tallainne agus taispeántas naomhóige. Ba mhór an chabhair é an tacaíocht airgeadais (€3,000) a fuarthas ó Fáilte Ireland i mbliana. De bharr seo bhí an coiste in ann an Fhéile a chur chun cinn níos faide ó bhaile, i margaí móra. Míle buíochas le gnóanna áitiúla, baill coiste Fhéile Lúghnasa, Údarás na Gaeltachta agus gach duine a bhí páirteach ins na himeachtaí. An Nollaig ar an mBlascaod
Bhusiltí bollóg aráin te díreach ón oigheann i gcoinne an dorais ag rá an rainn seo:
Máirín Ní Shé
‘An sonas isteach, is an donas amach, Anocht agus bliain ó anocht agus an uair sin fein.’
(cur síos mo mháthar, Lís Mharas Mhuiris, ar an Nollaig)
Sea, an chéad lá den mbliain nua agus faid coiscéim coiligh air. B’shin an lá a bhfógrófa iarsma ar dhuine. Theidís timpeall ina mbeirteanna, na leanaí, ó thigh go tigh agus dá labharfaidís sara labharfadh muintir an tí d’fhógróidís iarsma orthu. Deiridís ‘Fógraím iarsma ort’ agus ansan thugadh muintir an tí iarsma, is é sin píosa de chíste deas nó féirín éigin don mbeirt agus ansan deiridís:
Ó, an scóp a bhíodh ar a raibh ann aimsir na Nollag bheannaithe.Bhíodh meidhreacht agus draíocht san aer. Bhíodh soilse agus na coinnle againn. Bhíodh na naomhóga ag déanamh amach ar an bhfaill ag déanamh ar Aifreann, glór na maidí agus an ghlioscarnach faoi sholas na gealaí. A dhia, thógfadh sé mairbh as an uaigh! Bhíodh caora marbh i ngach aon tigh agus í crochta sa chistin. B’shin í an turcaí a bhíodh againn. Bhíodh putóga déanta ag na mná agus an dúthracht a chaithidís lena ndéanamh – an siobhán bhreac agus an phingin a thugaidís ar na putóga caorach sin. Bhíodh boladh breá uathu nuair a rostaí iad maidin Lae Nollag. Gach éinne ag fanacht leis an bpóist roimh Nollaig, le litir ó Mheiriceá nó ó éinne a bhí in aimsir faoin dtír le súil le cúpla punt a chabhródh lón na Nollag a cheannach. Gach einne ag rá go raibh cuma na Nollag air. Ansan chaithfí dul ‘on Daingean chun an lón a bhailiú isteach. Dheinidís la mór den lá san. Cad é deoch agus cairdeas agus bailiú! An scóp – cístí agus subh agus na bairíní breaca móra rúnálta! Deirimse leat go mbíodh ithe iontú! Gheibhtí asal nó capall i nDún Chaoin agus siúd leo ‘on Daingean don mbailiúchán. Gach éinne ag paidreoireacht go mbeadh an aimsir go maith – gaoth anoir agus sioc ab fhearr agus gealach lán. Thugtaí dhá phaca – paca bán plúir a bhíodh nite go maith acu agus paca garbh chun an bailiú a thabhairt abhaile. Isteach sa phaca bán a théadh na sóláistí mílse. Bhíodh draíocht ag baint leis an dtnúth seo go léir. Sea, nuair a bhíodh an bailiú déanta, thosnaítí ar chóiriú na dtithe. An chéad rud ghlantaí an simné. Ghealtaí le haol na tithe istigh agus amuigh. Chuirtí eidhneán trasna bharra fhuinneog na cistine agus tamall anuas ar a dhá chliathán agus chuirtí bláthanna isteach san eidhneán a bhíodh déanta againn as pháipéir oiriúnach do gach dath le méiríní orthu. Bhídís go h-aoibhinn, ba dhóigh leat go rabhadar ag fás san eidhneán. Chuirtí eidhneán agus bláthanna os cionn gach aon phictiúir. Chuirtí na coinnle ina seasamh i bprócaí gloine líonta le gainimh, ó an draíocht nuair a bhíodh tine mhór lasta agus an tigh scuabtha agus gainimh ón dTráigh Bháin leata timpeall na tine agus lasair na gcoinnle ag cur compoird agus ag tabhairt sóláis. Óiche Nollag bhíodh langa i gcomhair an dinnéir le praiseach bhán nó geir leáite. Dála an scéil thosnaíodh an Nollaig aimsir dinnéir, is é sin timpeall a haon Oíche Nollag agus ní ar Lá Nollag. Bhíodh suipéar ansan acu le cístí agus subh. Thagadh am lasta na gcoinnle tar éis na Corónach. Bhímís inár mbeirteanna ansan ag dul ó thigh go tigh féachaint cén tigh ba dheise a bhí – na coinnle agus an ród gléasta go Dún Chaoin agus na soilse agus an ghealach agus an t-áthas agus an mheidhir. Deirtí nár cheart dul a chodhladh gan babhta beag rince a dhéanamh Oíche Nollag. Thógadh Ceaist amach an veidhlín agus dheintí seit. Gan dabht, thagadh Saintí go dtí gach aon leanbh san oileán agus a stoca ar crochadh acu ar an adharta. An simné glanta agus an fanacht fada, fada leis na féiríní! Bhíodh éinín Saintí, is é sin an ghlasóg sráide, sa bhuaile ag tabhairt gach aon chuntas go dtí Saintí mar gheall ar iompar na leanaí. Deireadh na seandaoine leis na leanaí a bheith go maith nó go n-inseodh éinín Saintí an scéal go léir do shaintí agus go mbeadh a stoca folamh. Gheibhimis úll, oráiste agus cúpla milseán, ribín nua b’fheidir nó peire stocaí, bréagán - fliúit páipéir b’fhéidir. Ó, an t-áthas agus na sceitimíní agus sinn go léir chomh sásta le Diúc! Amach go Dún Chaoin leis na naomhóga go dtí Aifreann. Glór na mara agus glór tomhaiste na maidí rámha. Tar éis teacht ó Aifreann boladh caoireola rósta ar fud an bhaile. D’fhágtaí coinneal ar lasadh i ngach tigh i rith na hoíche chun fáiltiú roimh an Mhaighdean Mhuire agus íosa a thagadh ar cuairt. “Mar luífidh Mac Dé sa Tigh seo anocht” - le Máire Mac an tSaoi Lá an Dreoilín, theadh na leanaí óga timpeall an bhaile ag bailiú ach theadh na fir óga amach go Dún Chaoin agus ó thuaidh ar an mBuailtín ag bailiú sa dreoilín agus ní chítí go maidean gheal iad mar théidís ag rince ar an mBuailtín. Ní bhíodh aon choinneal lastá oíche an Dreoilín. Oíche na Coda Móire – an oíche dheireanach den seanbhlian – bhíodh na coinnle lasta arís. An oíche sin d’itheadh gach éinne a ndóthaint mar deirtí muna ndéanfá go mbeadh ocras ort i rith na bliana nua.
‘Bóithre thoir agus bóithre thiar ort agus bóithre gach lá den mbliain ort’agus bhailídis leo go dtí an chéad tigh eile chun iarsma eile a fhógairt.” Thíos ar an dTráigh Bháin a chaitheadh na fir óga an lá ag imirt chamáin le rútaí aitinn agus liathróid stoca agus cuid eile fós acu ag lorg patacháin. Ansan an Nollaig Bheag – Nollaig na mBan, an Nollaig gan mhaith! Ghlaoití Oíche na dTrí Rí ar an oíche seo agus lastaí trí choinneal i bhfuinneog na cistine in onóir don dTrí Rí a tháinig ón oirthear go dtí an stábla. Deirtí go ndeintí fíon den uisce agus síoda desna clocha an oíche sin chun go mbeadh combord ag na Rithe ar an dturas. Bhí scéal ann faoi fhear a d’fhan suas chun é seo a fhiosrú agus, má dhein, níor chuala éinne tásc ná tuairisc air ó shin. Lá nollag beag an lá deireanach den Nollaig. Bhíodh deireadh ite agus uiagneas orainn ach thiocfadh sí arís le cúnamh dé Go mbeirimid beo ar an am seo arís.

Memories of an Aughacasla Christmas
arrival. I would polish the lino with the mansion polish, while my dad would be laughing at Laurel and Hardy on the black and white TV. My mom would be singing with Bing Crosby on the wireless. My sister Imelda would help decorate the Christmas and Dundee cake. The smell ravaged through the house. My brother John would be busy helping with wood for the fire and maybe planning a few funny tricks to catch us out.
Majella Diver My fondest memories of an old style Christmas growing up in Aughcasla North, Castlegregory. I grew up in a country cottage by the sea. We had two bedrooms and one room in the centre where we all gathered. The room had a green Stanley range in the centre of the room where we all gathered around. Our grey cat was constantly being scorched on one side from the heat of the fire.
And then Christmas Day was finally here. I woke up seeing my Mom stuffing the turkey from the bedroom. The fire was so hot it would on bands for you. Santa came that year and brought me a box of games and a Christmas stocking. We got hours of fun from the games. My aunt Eileen called down from Duagh with presents. My mom got upset. I couldn’t figure out why. I later found out the presents from America didn’t arrive on time so she had no presents to give back. That’s the only bad memory i remember about growing up in Aughcasla.
It was Christmas Eve and my Dad was gone to the forest by Aughcasla river to get a branch from a tree. This would later become our Christmas tree. We were so excited putting on those lights aunty Phil sent us from America. I can still see them twinkling on the oil cloth on the big table which seated six of us, including my Mom and Dad. The candles would be prepared, big red ones in jam jars and they would be covered in crepe paper. We would be later sent in turn to check them. We hung paper chains and big red bells on the ceiling and holly was put over every picture frame we could find. They were our simple decorations but we thought they were wonderful. My sister Mary would be coming with the turkey and all the necessities for Christmas, as her husband John lived in Dublin and worked in a butchers shop. My aunty Bridget and Uncle John would come down as well with all the goodies. My sister Mary had lived with her since she was sixteen. I would always put paint on the front door with white gloss for their

From Ireland to India is a new collection of 12 original songs written and recorded by John Ryan of the Wren’s Nest, Dingle. The cd represents nearly 25 years of songwriting since John first arrived on the shores of Dingle in 1991. With clear reflective lyrics the songs open a window on the freedom and wonder we experience as we journey through our lives. Inspired by the universal search for meaning and value the songs give rise to new expressions of love and spirituality as they move freely between themes of Ireland and India. Easy on the ear and easy on the heart, the cd is available at €8 from The Wren’s Nest, Dingle open over Christmas from 23rd December until 3rd January. The cd is also available to listen to or to buy online at www. johnryancd.com.

An Nollaig Tá an Nollaig againn. Seo é an t-am don mbliain go gcaitheann cách súil siar ar an mbliain. Is gnáthach gur iad na hócaidí spoirt agus cleachtan is mó a bhíonn ar a gcab ag furmhór na ndaoine ach bíonn an cuimhne ortha siúd a fuair bás, atá breoite nó atá i bhfad ó bhaile. Is cuimhin liom im óige mar a thagadh slua mór do fhearaibh agus do mnhna óg abhaile ó Shasana agus iad lán do cheol. B’é áthas a gcroí bualadh abhaile go dtí an bhfód dúchais agus gan amhras, go dtí a muintir. Ní raibh aon áireamh ar na scéalta seóigh a bhíód ag leithéide Dan Bric aagus Maidhcí Chosaí. Bhí agus tá fós sólas agus suailceacht ag baint leis an Nollaig. Baineann an chleachtadh agus an sólás an bhuairt do scata Éireann daoine. Bíd ar a shaimhneas. Bíonn ’saolú’’ an linbh Íosa i gcroíthe scata, grá Dé, grá muintire agus grá na rincí a leanann an Nollaig gan dearmad a dhéanamh ar na Dreoilíní. Oiche Nollag bíonn na páistí beaga go cíocrach ag fanacht le ‘Saintí’ agus bíonn sásamh aigne le braith ar ar na daoine fásta agus iad ag tnúth bualadh le cáirde, gaolta agus dinnéar Lá Nollag. An uair úd bhíodh máthracha ag guí chun Dé a gclann a choimeád saor ó achrann agus ó ghalair, cuid acu ná feicfeadh siad go brách. Ba fhada an turas san am é ó Mheiricea nó ón Astráil. I saol an lae inniu is mó san duine gan cíos cás na cathú. Ainneoin sin bíonn fadbanna sláinte, airgid agus droch-iompar ag cur cor sa lúcháir. Bíonn trua do daoine bochta a bhíonn buailte ag an nGorta i scata áiteanna ar fuaid na cruinne.
