Randy ELVIS Friskie

Randy ELVIS Friskie has been referred to as “The World’s Best Elvis Tribute Act”. He has mastered Elvis in the three exciting stages of his career, the fabulous 50’s, the spectacular 60’s and the sensational 70’s. Randy seemed destined to be a performer. Born into a musical family, he began singing in his father’s country band at an exceptionally young age. A 12 year old Randy Friskie experienced the thrill of a lifetime seeing Elvis perform live in concert - thus change Randy’s life forever. By the age of 17, Randy began performing Elvis songs in a band he formed with his brother. Audience response was overwhelming, easing Randy to audition for the “Elvis, Elvis, Elvis” show. Randy was selected over dozens of applicants.

Spirit Radio - 88.7FM The station was launched in 2011 by Terry Somerville and Trever Wickens of Total Change Ministries and initially it featured a mainly-music format with the slogan “the best music this side of heaven” but it also had commentaries, prayers, messages for sponsors and community information. The station’s content is branching out to include a number of new features, most notably a new live show weekdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. hosted by veteran journalist John Twigg, which will include segments on community issues, coming events, local musicians, world religious news, commentaries and many other items such as contests for prizes. Twigg also will continue producing his new weekly radio show for Spirit-FM called the Holy Spirit Rock Show which is broadcast and streamed on Fridays at 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and features classic rock and roll songs that have Bible-based themes. It is rebroadcast on Saturdays at 3 a.m., 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Somerville, a renowned evangelist and healer, also will continue producing the morning program he has been doing since the station’s inception though it too will be including some new features, and the station’s general content and website will be expanded too. “We’re honoured to have become a part of the daily lives of many people in the Campbell River and Comox Valley areas and we’re looking forward to reaching even more people in the year ahead.

“Many people probably will have a hard time believing that groups such as the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and The Doors have songs that are Bible-based but I can show people where dozens of such songs have lyrics that are based on Bible scriptures.” “Music is a great device to help people understand and remember “The hit song Dangerous Times by Courtenay’s Sue Medley is an excellent example of how classic rock music can be used to do that. Another prime example is the Beatles song The Word, which is based on John 1.” The station’s website also includes a facility for making donations online and an easy-to-use listen-live icon.

Protein a Must

Results

The “tools” your body needs to repair damaged muscle tissue is mainly protein. Protein is used as a building block for muscle tissue. If your body doesn’t have access to protein, it won’t be able to effectively repair damaged muscle tissue and instead of getting stronger, you’ll get weaker. If protein can be described as the building material, carbohydrates are the workmen that put everything together. A shake is better than food because whole foods takes a lot longer to digest. LOVE THE ELIXIR OF LIFE

When last did you jump out of bed with the enthusiasm of a child? All that impairs our ability to do this is the effect of time. The joyfully enthusiastic child within us all has retreated more and more with each blow that life has offered. So now we place conditions on love before we give it and keep ourselves guarded until all these conditions are met. Our abdomen tenses in a defensive stance and can no longer erupt with belly giggles. We now believe that we are protected from all that which is not true love; but love obeys the natural laws of our planet: for every action there is an equal and apposing reaction. Simply put, you only get as much love as you are willing to give. This brings me to the health benefits of love and happiness. • Love makes you smarter because falling in love releases a hormone-like substance which helps to restore the nervous system and improves memory by triggering the growth of new brain cells. Love helps fight cancer because being in love increases desirable white blood cells Research shows that loving acts neutralise the

kind of negative emotions that adversely affect immune, endocrine and cardiovascular function. The brain becomes “fi red up” when talking to someone it finds attractive and sends impulses to the heart making it pound three times faster than normal. This results in increased blood supply to the body, specifically the cheeks and sexual organs. Studies have indicated that a lack of love, causing social isolation, increases the risk of early death by up to five times. The endorphins produced by the body when in love increase blood flow to the skin, which helps keep it soft and smooth, and reduce the development of wrinkles. Love makes you happy and happy people have younger hearts, younger arteries, and a younger RealAge. Happy people recover more quickly from surgery, cope better with pain, have lower blood pressure, and have longer life expectancy than unhappy people. Remember that no one can give or take love from you; you can only be in love.. Greet everyone with an open heart and a smile. Make your New Year resolution to love your way back to health, happiness and peace. ……………. Gary Freedom Yoga

health Food for Thought: Your Authentic Self in winter. If possible, start out into the wind so it’s not blowing into your face after you’re sweaty. And look for routes among windbreaks such as trees and buildings. 4. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate Since we often don’t feel ourselves sweating during winter activity, it’s easy to forget to drink fluids. Set a routine – say, a swig at every mile marker – and follow it throughout your run.

With the daylight scarce we hurtle into the brisk darkness to pursue our pastime; running. But a few quick tips can help us navigate the slips and slides of the season.

5. Go off the clock Put away the stopwatch for the winter months, as you should use this time to maintain what you’ve built up during the warmer season. Rather than risk injury on ice and in the cold, wait until it’s warmer again to push yourself.

1. Dress your feet It isn’t just your head and fingers that need an extra layer. Those breathable shoes that warmed your heart in summer might shiver your toes in winter. Choose a shoe with a closed-mesh construction or even a Gore-Tex upper to repel water and retain warmth. 2. See and be seen Throw on a reflective vest and even bring along a flashlight. Small LED lights are easy to come by and are as helpful in seeing where you’re going as they are in alerting drivers (and yes, cyclists) to your presence. 3. Manage the wind What was a refreshing breeze a few months ago can feel like gale-force torture

Whats On Technology

to a Web site or your computer. This means you can do things like e-mail photos of your trip while you’re still on vacation, or get pictures directly off your camera and to an editor quickly if you’re a photojournalist. As with non-WiFi cameras, your choice of camera will be dependent on how you plan to use it. WiFienabled point-and-shoot cameras retail for a little bit more than their plug-and-play counterparts, from about $200 on up.

Cool Camera Stuff

If you’re worried the simplicity of having a WiFi camera comes at the cost of image quality, your concerns are well directed. Certain models, especially early ones, may upload files at lower resolutions than what is stored on the camera. The high-quality shots remain on the camera, so they can still be transferred through a wired connection when you have the chance. You won’t have that problem with most newer models, though. So, once you’ve got your WiFi-enabled camera in your hands, you’ll need to set up basic features, automatic functions and the Web site or computer to which you plan to upload your pictures.

With the rise of social media and file sharing, consumers have become accustomed to capturing spur-of-the-moment photo oppor t unities on their smartphone device. But, smartphones do not offer the same image quality and offer less creative control than a traditional digital camera, leaving consumers torn beaten capturing quicksharing photos or capturing truly stunning photographic imagery. WiFi cameras let you upload pictures automatically to your computer or Web space from any location -- as long as there’s an internet connection. In this day and age, it may seem a cumbersome to connect something, such as a camera, to your computer to transfer information. WiFi cameras, which first made an appearance in 2005, are aimed at solving cable clutter by making it possible to transfer photos wirelessly from a digital camera

Panasonic has filled the gap with the LUMIX SZ5, A slim and compact digital camera which features 10x Optical zoom and integrates Wi-Fi connectivity quickly and seamlessly.

of the month Passengers on a small commuter plane are waiting for the flight to leave. The entrance opens, and two men walk up the aisle, dressed in pilots’ uniforms--both are wearing dark glasses, one is using a seeing-eye dog, and the other is tapping his way up the aisle with a cane. Nervous laughter spreads through the cabin; but the men enter the cockpit, the door closes, and the engines start up. The passengers begin glancing nervously around, searching for some sign that this just a little practical joke. None is forthcoming. The plane moves faster and faster down the runway, and people at the windows realize that they’re headed straight for the water at the edge of the airport territory. As it begins to look as though the plane will never take off, that it will plow into the water, panicked screams fill the cabin--but at that moment, the plane lifts smoothly into the air. The passengers relax and laugh a little sheepishly, and soon they have all retreated into their magazines, secure in the knowledge that the plane is in good hands. Up in the cockpit, the copilot turns to the pilot and says, “You know, Bob, one of these days, they’re going to scream too late, and we’re all gonna die.

Pet Tips

Cat’s need stability, they’re creatures of comfort and when there’s no change that’s when they’re happiest. That and hunting. The tricky part can be figuring out what happened. It may have been one or more visits of a strange cat to the sliding door months ago and, now gone, the spraying continues. Your cat may simply forget to turn off the flow. Other cats in your home may pick up on this and join in the fun. Sometimes you don’t even know who the culprit is because every time you jump around the corner to catch him in the act he’s just whistling idly like nothing’s going on.

Dr Stacey (Sunrise vet)

‘What’s your cat thinking when he edges over to the wall and let’s it fly all over the door jam painting it with urine? When you actually catch him in the act you might feel a little like “what the heck is going on, I give you a nice home and you repay me with this?” In fact he thinks he’s doing you a favor and he’s protecting you. He can’t help himself. 10,000 years of genetics are pushing him towards this and it takes everything he’s got to hold it back.

All kidding aside, what you need to do is get a roadmap to negotiate through all this and have a plan that makes sense and is easy to do and that stops the spraying.

What’s happening is something in or outside his home is turning on the tap. We may call it a stress but really what’s stress to a cat? We know cats are very attached to family. When a stranger, neighbor cat dog or person shows up, the drive to turn on the tap is overwhelming. That’s because they’re not family.

That’s what we do, we make your life at home more cozy and less nosey. So call us in January and we’ll help you out. Dr. Stacey of Sunrise Veterinary Clinic in Comox
