Before COVID-19 hit we were receiving over 1500 events each month from energetic island folks that love their community.
Now you don't have to wait for the magazine. All events will be available online everyday. The What’s On Digest will be hosting all Vancouver Island events on our website as they gradually re-appear.
Now more than ever, it is important to help stimulate our local core businesses and services on Vancouver Island. We encourage everyone to continue uploading their events to the What’s On Digest website, including virtual events, classes, workshops and sales. You create the event we will bring the crowd.
Do you have an event? Submit your event online at whatsondigest.com or by email. If you have an activity to add to the Things to Do email it to info@whatsondigest.com.
THIS ISSUE: The summer staycation issue has been carefully curated to include COVID operations and procedures in all activities and establishments. However, as we have all experienced, the process is evolving and things change rapidly. It is best to call ahead, make booking times, reservations, and be ready to wait. PLAN PLAN PLAN! And then plan to rest. Each area has been flagged with a colour for easy reference to each city. I hope this issue gives you the opportunity to find, explore and experience the many marvels and wonders of Vancouver Island, today, tomorrow and throughout the year.

The mission of Chef Ronald and Tricia St. Pierre is to showcase producers and foods readily available in the Comox Valley and Vancouver Island by offering cuisine that is fresh and innovative. The concept of Locals Restaurant responds to people wanting to know how, when, where and by whom heir food is produced. From the seafood to fishing, farming, harvesting, artisan beer, wine and food production, Locals offers cuisine that is authentically local, accessible, fresh, nutritious, and made exclusively in-house from scratch. As well, the St. Pierres are committed to ensuring a quality work environment for each employee, as they believe a happy employee it is fundamental to ensuring the delivery of quality cuisine and service. They hold to the philosophy that it is how they are as a couple directly effects how the employees interact with each other, and ultimately how they interact with the guests. This “trickle-down theory” of leadership and way of being has been apparent since their opening in 2008 when they were immediately recognized as having a “great vibe” and “comfortable” atmosphere. 250-338-6493 1760 Riverside Ln, Courtenay localscomoxvalley.com LUNCH daily from 11am-4pm BRUNCH A La Carte 10am-2pm Wkend Dinner daily reserve from 4pm-9pm

Merridale at the farm is now home to an al fresco eatery, tasting bar, store, brick oven bakery, cidery, distillery, and vinegar shack. Further landscaping of the property also allowed for the addition of a pond, gazebo and two well-appointed yurts, creating a new reason to visit.
