Ed Enns
1964
At River Sportsman “Between the Bridges”, we 1967 Ken & Dave En ns
are celebrating a milestone.
Our Grandfather, Les Hoover Sr., built our original store in 1946 with the phone #66Y. It was called the Campbell River Woodworkers, a building supply business. Our parents turned the building into a sporting goods outdoor retail store in 1964. My brother David and I grew up working for them, then bought into the business. We took 4 years to design our new store behind the old one, and then 2 years to build it as a family. On April 1st, 1998, a sad moment as the old store came down, but the new one appeared. We are proud to be the second longest-running family-owned business in Campbell River.
Ken, Dave & Ed
Entering our sixth decade, marks River Sportsman 50th anniversary as the time to give back to the Campbell River watershed and the great outdoors that nature has provided for family, customers and friends for 50 years.
“At River Sportsman, where Conservation Comes First !” Kenny Enns

Exercise as part of your stress and pain management routine When we exercise, our bodies release endorphins, the chemicals that interact with the receptors in the brain that diminish the perception of pain. Endorphins also trigger positive feelings in the body that are often accompanied by an energizing outlook on life. Regular exercise has been proven to: reduce stress and anxiety, boost selfesteem, and improve sleep. But even with this awareness, maintaining a regular exercise routine can be a challenge. Here are a couple of things that can help you get there; First, realize that ‘trying’ is not ‘doing’! Don’t start out by telling yourself that you will try to
exercise two or three times per week. Instead DO it every day. Spend only 15 or 20 minutes a day if necessary. This way it will become a healthy habit; break the habit of ‘not doing’ and replace it with ‘doing’. Second, no excuses. If you don’t allow for excuses (e.g. too busy, too tired) they won’t have the power to hold you back. Unless there is a valid reason (not an excuse) DECIDE to exercise. Make that decision every day - one day at the time - and you will get there! To Your Success! Gabriela Eikeland DN, CSMC,RT-CRA

My wife came home yesterday and said, “Honey, the car won’t start, but I know what the problem is.” I asked her what it was, and she told me there was water in the carburetor. I thought for a moment, then said, “You know, I don’t mean this offensively, but you don’t know the carburetor from the accelerator.” “No, there’s definitely water in the carburetor,” she insisted. “OK Honey, that’s fine, I’ll just go take a look. Where is it?” “In the lake.”
