After 35 years of marriage, a married couple came for counselling. When asked what the problem was, the wife went into a passionate tirade listing every problem they’d ever had over the years: neglect, lack of intimacy, emptiness, loneliness, feeling unloved and unlovable, an entire list of un-met needs she had endured. After allowing this for a length of time, the therapist stood, walked around the desk and after asking the wife to stand, he kissed her passionately as her husband watched with a raised eyebrow. Silently the woman sat down. The therapist turned to the husband and said, “This is what your wife needs at least 3 times a week. Can you see to it?” “Well,” he said, “I can drop her off here on Mondays and Wednesdays, but on Fridays, I go fishing.”

Community Mental Health • Three specialized practicum placements. • Earn your diploma in only 54 weeks. Attending the Community Support Worker program at DCC was incredible and rewarding. I not only achieved my academic goals, I was encouraged to discover new and exciting career opportunities. The support and training I received during the program gave me insight into this exciting field. The three practicum placements further solidified the training I received and gave me the opportunity to engage with people in a professional and genuine environment. I am now working full time as a Community Support worker. Positively influencing people’s lives feels great! Sarah 2015 Grad
Join one of the most indemand professions in BC • Earn your Diploma in only 39 weeks • Training at a Long Term Care Facility After Hairdressing for 12 years, I found myself longing for something with a steady income. I checked out DCC’s program and found their schedule to be very flexible allowing me to continue working. The instructor was a good fit with my learning style. I loved the program!!! Upon graduation I felt very prepared to start working in the field. I was hired 2 weeks after the program ended, as a casual. 2-3 weeks after that, I received a permanent full time line with benefits!! I love my job! I work 2 days, 2 evenings and 2 nights. All in All, it is “pretty Awesome”! My long term goal is to go back to DCC to continue on with the Practical Nurse Access program. Leanne 2014 Grad
