“My wife and I had a really good experience with this company from start to finish. Kaz took the time to fully understand everything we wanted for our new kitchen and gave us some great ideas and options that really helped give us the final design. It was refreshing to feel like we were working through a project with him rather than being “sold to”. We didn’t really know too much about the various materials and finishes but Kaz gave us all the information we needed to make our choices and we felt confident about getting good value for money.” Thank you KN Kitchens. ..... Living in the modern world and finding balance for optimum wellbeing Kim Algar - Health & Wellbeing Coach and owner of Cinnabar Wellbeing based at The Wellington Centre in Hastings. It’s no secret that increasing levels of activity and eating well will improve our physical health. But how about making positive changes in your lifestyle for good. By establishing a positive routine of nutrition, exercise and sleep, I believe we can find our perfect balance for optimum wellbeing physically, emotionally and mentally. Chronic disease, stress and obesity are the epidemics of the modern world. Many people feel unwell, lack enthusiasm and feel pressured by the demands of their busy lives. When feeling pressed for time or stressed, we can make unhealthy lifestyle choices. We have seen a growth in the choices of support available. The more common practice of complementary therapies such as mindfulness, meditation and relaxation techniques to name a few, are readily available to help individuals to manage the demands of daily life, work and associated stress. Health and wellbeing coaches can play a vital role as they can support individuals in establishing positive lifestyle patterns. Really listening and assessing their daily habits, triggers and pressures to equip them to make healthier choices. By drawing on different techniques and tools, they can create a supportive plan for change. Cinnabar provides health and wellbeing coaching for individuals wanting to make a sustainable change. We are holding a free Stress In The Workplace workshop on 28th October at the Wellington Centre in Hastings as part of Wellbeing Week with any donations going to The Sara Lee Trust. To find out more and register your place, please contact info@cinnabar.co.uk as numbers are limited.

The future of hair removal is here! Tired of continually removing hair with traditional methods? It is estimated that 75% of women would like to remove areas of hair growth permanently! hair no more is the answer! Superfast and pain free! I went along to Infinate Beauty UK in Heathfield High Street to find out more about the Super Hair Removal system recently introduced using Cosmedico Medical Systems equipment. Trained Skin Care Technician and Hair Removal Specialist Emma Nixon explained the treatment to me and gave me a full list of instructions to be followed for both before and after the treatment.... What’s On Editor. See advertisement (Right)

How does hair no more work?

Utilising the latest evolution in Laser & IPL technologies – SHR is the latest method for the removal of unwanted hair, superfast, safe and pain free! A hair no more treatment uses selected wavelengths of low energy light rapidly pulsed onto the skin (180 times a minute) to gently heat the target hair follicles to cause terminal damage directly to the hair’s chromophores and prevent hair regrowth. Endorsed by leading medical experts the SHR technology is safe and highly effective in the treatment of permanent hair reduction.

How long does the treatment take?

Using revolutionary e-motion delivery a hair no more treatment is completed in minutes. The treatment applicator is swept back and forth repeatedly across the designated area whist rapid pulses of low energy light are pulsed into the skin ensuring full coverage and effective treatment.

Does it hurt?

Unlike traditional laser or IPL, using high energy levels that may cause discomfort and pain, a hair no more treatment is gentle and comfortable, resulting in a pleasant warming of the skin. Active skin cooling through the applicator capable of -4oc ensures complete comfort even in the most sensitive areas.

Osteopathy is an established and recognised system of diagnosis and treatment that is used for treating a wide range of conditions including particularly low back pain, neck ache and joint pains. Osteopathic treatment is a gentle series of manual techniques including manipulation, stretching and soft tissue. It helps to increase mobility to the spine and peripheral joints, relieves muscle tension and enhances blood and nerve supply to the tissues. This helps to relieve inflammation thus reducing pain. Advice on lifestyle posture and exercise may also be given. I offer a friendly and accessible service and have over 30 years experience with treating all age groups.

Who is it suitable for?

A hair no more treatment can be performed on all skin types. The SHR technology of low energy pulses allows for the successful treatment in both dark and fair skin types alike, even tanned skin. Suitable for both women and men, hair no more is the answer! How many treatments will I need? Each hair no more treatment effects approximately 30% of the hair within the target area. We recommend a minimum of 6 treatments, with some hair types requiring more. The average for a successful program is 8 treatments.

She is a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC), a voluntary register that has been accredited by the Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care (PSA), set up by the government to improve standards and safety for the benefit of the public. Acupuncture is now widely used and accepted all over the world. In the UK more and more people are finding out what acupuncture can do for them. Acupuncture works to help maintain your body’s equilibrium. It involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body to regulate the flow of ‘qi’, your body’s vital energy. An increasing weight of evidence from Western scientific research is demonstrating the effectiveness of acupuncture for treating a wide variety of conditions. From a biomedical viewpoint, acupuncture is believed to stimulate the nervous system, influencing the production of the body’s communication substances - hormones and neurotransmitters. The resulting biochemical changes activate the body’s self-regulating homeostatic systems, stimulating its natural healing abilities and promoting physical and emotional wellbeing. This approach also means that each patient’s treatment plan will be different. Eleanor specialises in • Women’s health including irregular periods, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), fertility (natural & assisted / in-vitro fertilisation (IVF)), throughout pregnancy & menopausal symptoms • Nausea • Pain management including joint and muscular pain, back pain, sciatica, migraines, headaches & arthritis • Depression, anxiety, insomnia & stress

ilates was developed by Joseph Pilates (09/12/1883 – 09/10/1967) who developed a unique exercise system to stretch, strengthen, and balance the body. He incorporated his experience of martial arts, body building, boxing and Yoga into creating his classical repertoire. The owner of Abs-Solute Balance, Glenda Petersen has first-hand experience of the life-changing benefits of Pilates training. In 1984 she was involved in a very serious car accident. After years of battling to recover she discovered Pilates, which transformed her life and led her on to her path of becoming a Pilates instructor in 2000. She is passionate about enhancing the Mind-Body connection to make positive and healthy changes in people’s lives. Following Pilates’ principles, the ethos of Abs-Solute Balance is to focus on developing core strength whilst bringing about awareness of correct postural alignment. The teaching style is focussed on empowering clients to understand the reason and benefit of correct movement. Working in the correct way can improve flexibility, stability, balance and help strengthen the whole body, thus leading to a supportive posture. The Abs-Solute Balance Pilates studio was established in Hastings in 2011. It was previously located at the Wellington Centre, but due to growing demand and limited space moved to its new location at the Isabel Blackman Centre in 2016. The new studio offers the ideal training experience; it is spacious and comfortable with lift access, changing rooms and a beautiful light feeling to it. The studio is fully equipped with the full range of Pilates equipment. This is a dedicated Pilates and fitness studio with regular instructors available six days a week. Safe Haven for Donkeys in the Holy Land was set up in 2000 to help some of the thousands of donkeys facing overwork and cruelty in Israel and the Palestinian Territories. Our programme consist of three key areas; Firstly our free veterinary clinics which operates to around 600 working donkeys, mules and horses on both sides of the Palestinian border, are offered wound treatment, hoof trimming, vaccinations and much more every month. Secondly through education and support, our aim is also to improve the lives of the owners who themselves suffer terrible poverty and rely entirely on their animal to earn a basic living. Thirdly, and based in Israel, the sanctuary is home to 240 donkeys all of whom have been abandoned or miss-treated in some way. Now with a home for life they can enjoy their surroundings and new friends. We receive no government help and rely totally on public donations in order to support the vital work we do. To raise money and awareness for Safe Haven there are many things that you can do: Adopting a donkey makes for a great gift or treat yourself – comes with certificate, picture and cuddly donkey, purchase our merchandise online – our Christmas cards are now in stock! Join our FRIENDS OF THE DONKEYS GROUP, or find us at the various events we hold throughout the year. Visit www.safehaven4donkey.org for more information or call 01444 470128.

A

great time to keep your eyes peeled on your garden birds, unusual visitors may turn up as they take their long hop back down south. The tiny Chiffchaffs and Willow Warblers can be seen darting around your shrubs to get themselves fit and full for what can be a tedious journey. Tho’ some fly to parts of southern Europe and North Africa the Willow Warblers often fly all the way to South Africa, one of the longest migration for such small bird. The Tree Pipit a first for me in the garden also makes the long trek to Africa. Here are some of my visitors....

A Holiday for Mabel

Mabel at Wagging Tails just loves it when her humans go away for their holidays. It means that she can pack her bag and set off for a holiday of her own. Mabel always goes to stay with her Uncle Stuart and Auntie Wendy who live nearby. They love dogs but don’t have one of their own so they are really happy to have Mabel come to stay. They know all her routines and her funny habits. They take her for brilliant walks and don’t seem to mind how muddy she gets. They are always available for kisses and cuddles so Mabel never feels lonely. Wouldn’t it be fabulous if all dogs had a special person to spend their holidays with? At Wagging Tails we have the most amazing dog-loving carers who will look after your dog as if it was their own while you are away. Contact Mabel via her human secretary, Lesley Birch, if your dog needs a loving holiday home. 01424 814695 www. waggingtailsuk.co.uk/tn
