Kaz took the time to fully understand everything we wanted for our new kitchen and gave us some great ideas and options that really helped give us the final design. It was refreshing to feel like we were working through a project with him rather than being “sold to”. We didn’t really know too much about the various materials and finishes but Kaz gave us all the information we needed to make our choices and we felt confident about getting good value for money.” Thank you KN Kitchens. Fashion & Leisure September in Halo is always exciting as there is just SO much new stock to see! All the brands we stock offer something a little different, yet mix and match together beautifully. We are always pleased to help you create a look all your own - so much nicer than duplicating a look from a High Street store or catalogue. This needn’t be expensive, in fact people are often surprised to discover our prices are usually less than if you bought the same product elsewhere or online! We love this Season’s strong new colour palette with easy to wear shades of blue, khaki and grey plus of course the ever popular black. Splashes of burgundy and ochre brighten things up and there are some very interesting knitwear pieces. The Autumn/Winter collection by Italian brand ANONYME proved very popular last year and the items received so far certainly don’t disappoint. We are very excited by the new collection of footwear from DOLCIS - embroidered ankle boots being a particular favourite. We celebrate both at The Summer Party – amazing people who inspire the widest audiences with the urgency of their work. We are delighted to welcome CHANEL as our partner for The Summer Party as we enter this new era for the Galleries. World class musicians from all around the globe will be coming to Rye throughout the Festival. For six years the classical music programme has been built around live opera with the hugely talented young professional singers of London-based Euphonia Studio. Rannveig Karadottir, the Icelandic soprano who starred in the La Traviata at Rye in 2014. There will be a big treat courtesy of The English Concert. Born in Spain, raised in Chicago, but now living in England, this consummate musician cannot be placed in one pigeon hole! From medieval to 1920s Cuban jazz to contemporary, her songs move around the ages, taking the audience with her on an outstanding odyssey. Make no bones about it, Sarah is not to be missed on Tuesday 26th September. This year’s varied literary programme kicks off on Saturday 16th September with Kenneth Clarke MP – the Father of the House and jazz-loving politician. And from the opposite benches comes Dame Margaret Hodge, the Labour MP who speaks on Thursday 28th. The award-winning young novelist Evie Wylde returns to the Festival on Saturday 23rd September. And local glass shopkeeper Andy McConnell will be talking about his varied life which has seen him become one of the
much-loved experts on the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow. He will give behind the scenes experiences from the TV show and talk about wine decanters on Friday 22nd September. The Film programme marks the 20th anniversary of Jane Austen with a screening of the cult comedy Clueless starring Alicia Silverstone, which sees the Emma storyline moved to LA in the 1990s! Check out Amy too, the Oscar-winning documentary on Amy Winehouse who died too young. Theatre also provides a focus on Jane Austen since this is the author’s bicentenary year. Karin Fernald brings her one-woman play called Jane Austen – The Early Years on Sunday 17th, which focuses of the writer’s works from her childhood and adolescence Austentatious come to town from Edinburgh. Dahlia Days at Pashley Manor Gardens Tuesday 5 September every day up to and including Sunday 10 September, 10am - 5pm
As summer turns to autumn the gardens at Pashley, on the border of Sussex and Kent, are ablaze with colour, provided by hundreds of dazzling dahlias, during the Dahlia Days event. Over 40 varieties of this diverse perennial are planted throughout the garden; pinks in the Rose Garden, sunny yellows in the Golden Beds, whites in the Elizabethan Garden, purples in the Pool Garden and more. The pièce de resistance is the hot reds and oranges, interspersed with darker burgundys and complemented by the second flowering of roses, canna lilies, late flowering perennials and other annuals, in the magnificent herbaceous borders, which are at their best at this time of year. During Dahlia Days Bloms Bulbs will be at Pashley with a gorgeous display of cut/potted dahlias, giving advice and taking orders and Pashley’s gardeners will be giving talks on dahlias. The café, with terrace, serves locally sourced and homemade cakes, scones and light lunches; the shop has gorgeous gifts, souvenirs and plants, and there are exhibitions of garden sculpture and floral art. Whether you want to learn more about dahlias or just enjoy the eyecatching displays of these vivid, multi-hued blooms do come and spend a day in the gardens during this week of fantastic early autumn colour.

Danson Tree Care would like to warn the public to be wary of uninsured tree surgeons. “The risks of hiring an uninsured tree surgeon include YOU having to take responsibility for damages to your property and possibly your neighbours’ as well as any injuries to the tree surgeons themselves! Even if a tree must be removed, safety and training is still needed to prevent additional damage (to both the tree and your property) from its removal. Like many other professional tree surgeons, we pay thousands of pounds for our insurances and credentials, not just to cover us, but to cover our customers, too. Nick Danson, owner of Danson Tree Care.
See pashleymanorgardens.com or call 01580 200888 for more information.
Read what our customers say on Checkatrade........ “Mrs Williams came to view the garden and discuss what could be done, as the garden had been neglected by tenants, what was left of the lawn needed to be removed as well as a lot of weeds. We decided that the best option would be low maintenance paving/ patio area and shingle. The price that she quoted was the price I paid. Carol and her team were delayed finishing due to rain that week, but finished it as quickly as was possible once the weather was dry. The cost was itemised in writing in a professional way. The garden is now easy to manage and Carol and her team did a very professional job.” ........ Customer in Eastbourne.

A Holiday for Mabel
Mabel at Wagging Tails just loves it when her humans go away for their holidays. It means that she can pack her bag and set off for a holiday of her own. Mabel always goes to stay with her Uncle Stuart and Auntie Wendy who live nearby. They love dogs but don’t have one of their own so they are really happy to have Mabel come to stay. They know all her routines and her funny habits. They take her for brilliant walks and don’t seem to mind how muddy she gets. They are always available for kisses and cuddles so Mabel never feels lonely. Wouldn’t it be fabulous if all dogs had a special person to spend their holidays with? At Wagging Tails we have the most amazing dog-loving carers who will look after your dog as if it was their own while you are away. Contact Mabel via her human secretary, Lesley Birch, if your dog needs a loving holiday home. 01424 814695 www. waggingtailsuk.co.uk/tn
