Performing Arts Workshop
tagecoach Theatre Arts summer workshop this year is the West End musical ‘Guys and Dolls’. A fun packed five day course for children aged between 8 and 18 years old. The classes led by Stagecoach’s fun, energetic and DBS (formally CRB) checked teachers will work towards a performance on stage on the final evening with lights and costumes.
The workshop is open to anyone with an interest in the performing arts, there is no audition, places are allocated on a first come first served basis and they are filling up fast! Workshop students will experience the process of casting, rehearsal and all that goes into putting on a show condensed in to 5 days. Sound like hard work? It is. But Principal Avril Crawford believes that’s what makes it so rewarding. Children will sing, dance and act for the whole week, learn new skills, make friends and grow in confidence. The high student teacher ratio means that every child is able to reach their potential. There is also a separate workshop for younger children aged 4 to 7. They will be working on basic theatre skills as well as preparing a short musical presentation of the well known children’s fairytale Cinderella . For more information about Stagecoach contact Principal Avril Crawford on 01424 772255 or visit www.stagecoach.co.uk/hastings

“All’s Well That Ends Well”!
T
he folly of youth. The changing phases of love, and a heroine who will stop at nothing to get her man. This is the stuff of Shakespeare’s romcom All’s Well That Ends Well. This vivid and intelligent staging directed by Stephen J John and performed by his company Bowler Crab Productions weaves fresh ideas and cleverly conceived interactions between actors and audience. The production continues until 2nd July at Half House Farm, Three Oaks. (bowler-crab.com) The strange world of ‘All’s Well’ is made credible and involving and Shakespeare’s language is delivered clearly and made easy on the modern ear. The performances are excellent. Sian Hutchinson stands out as Helena, stalking and trapping her treacherous mate in a hard-fought quest for honour. Charles Julius Willis’s well-rounded portrayal of her love interest, Bertram, keeps us interested in this royal brat & John Turners Lavatch is just delightful.

Why write a will?
Shakespeare’s rollicking comedy of love, jealousy and deception set in merry old Windsor. Tradition has it that Queen Elizabeth I so love the character of Falstaff in the Henry History Plays that she commanded Shakespeare to write her a Comedy with Falstaff as the main character. Thus the story of the lecherous old Knight attempting to seduce Mistress Ford and Mistress Page to lay his hands on their husband’s money was written for Royal entertainment . Come and see this most farcical of the Bard’s comedies in the intimate Barn Theatre in the beautiful grounds of Smallhythe Place. The grounds will be open at 6pm so bring a picnic. July 21 - 30. Walk Among Thousands of Tropical Butterflies at RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2016
A
n enormous (283m2) tropical Butterfly Dome at this year’s RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show (5 – 10 July), supported by Viking Cruises, will give visitors the rare opportunity to walk among thousands of exotic Indonesian and South American butterflies, displaying their fascinating colours and patterns as they take flight or settle amid the vegetation. On entering the dome, visitors will be transported into a lush paradise garden featuring tropical planting to re-create the butterflies’ natural habitat. A range of vibrant, colourful species including blue morpho, pale owl, postman and swallowtail butterflies will feel at home flying freely among towering Ficus trees and settling on brightly coloured flowering Hibiscus. Special feeding stations will give visitors the chance to admire the striking species up close. Butterfly Conservation’s The State of the UK’s Butterflies 2015 report found that 57% of butterfly species in the UK have declined over the past 40 years. With this in mind, the Butterfly Dome at RHS Hampton Court
Palace Flower Show will be surrounded by a wildflower meadow full of native flowers designed to attract British butterflies and other wildlife. As well as using plants recommended on the RHS Perfect for Pollinators plant list, the meadow will feature plants that caterpillars feed on such as thyme, holly, ivy, honeysuckle, foxgloves and cistus. Pupariums will also give visitors the opportunity to watch the magical moment a butterfly emerges from its pupa. Show Manager Dave Green said: “We’re really excited that the Butterfly Dome is back at the show this year, it will be a great interactive spectacle and definitely a highlight not to be missed. We hope visitors will leave the show inspired to make their own gardens more wildlife friendly and help halt the decline of Britain’s butterfly population.” The RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show runs from 5 – 10 July 2016. For further information or to buy tickets, please visit the RHS website at www.rhs.org.uk/ hamptoncourt

At 23 I opened my own Salon, was married & had three children. I employed 3 hairdressers and put 2 junior hairdressers through their apprenticeships. Years later I returned to college to achieve my Advanced level 3 Hairdressing course. I started my Post Graduate Degree in Post Compulsory Education so I could become a Further Educational Lecturer in Hairdressing. During the time I found myself a post in a Further Educational College as a Hairdressing tutor to gather the experience. Since then I have had the absolute joy of teaching in colleges for 15 years and met loads of great students of all ages. Now I have moved back to the seaside and would like to build my Freelance Hairdressing Service in this area and of course use animal cruelty free products when possible. ....Another dream to make a reality.
