Get To Know Our Team
Clarissa Petri Facility Coordinator
Clarissa’s journey with the City of Wheat Ridge began in 2009 at the young age of 16 when she took her first job at the concession stand at the Anderson Outdoor Pool. Inspired by her grandmother’s 30-year dedication to the recreation field, Clarissa pursued studying Parks and Recreation and Public Management at CU Denver’s School of Public Affairs.
In 2017, Clarissa was promoted to Facility Coordinator. In this role, she has received many accolades and skillfully blended insights from her education and mentors with her own innovative approach to facility operations. Driven by a passion for mentorship, she is dedicated to uplifting the community and those around her, both professionally and personally.
Clarissa believes in embracing life with curiosity and a growth mindset. She enjoys caring for her Australian Tree Frogs and cherishing time with her son outside of work. Her hobbies include exploring nature, capturing moments through photography, soaking in the hot springs, painting, and cooking for her loved ones.
Michelle Richardson Active Adult Center Recreation Supervisor
Michelle joined the City of Wheat Ridge as the Recreation Supervisor at the Active Adult Center in 2018 when she relocated from Texas. Throughout her childhood, Michelle’s family spent every summer on the Western slope camping, fishing, panning for gold and riding motorcycles over the switchbacks.
Michelle has a diverse background with a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Fisheries Science and a Masters’s degree in Geography and Environmental Education. She has worked as a Webmaster, an IT analyst and a Geography educational advocate for National Geographic in Washington D.C. Michelle found her way into the field of Recreation after serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Guatemala teaching Mayan families the in’s and out’s of tourism. She even authored a book in Spanish for the local tour guides. When Michelle returned to the U.S., she began working as a Trip and Outdoor Recreation Coordinator with Active Adult Recreation Centers throughout Austin and Dallas, Texas
In her spare time, Michelle loves to dance and spend time in nature with her daughter, husband and two dogs. She also loves musicals and watching her daughter sing and perform with local theaters.

Reiki is an ancient Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that promotes energetic healing. It is used holistically to promote healthy and wellness within your being. This practice is gently administered with light physical touch, in combination with natural elements, such as essential oils, natural crystals and sound bathing. These elements are combined to restore, energize, revitalize, rejuvenate, and cleanse the mind, body and spirit.

Introduction to American Canasta
Canasta, played like Rummy, is often a nostalgic game for seniors, easy to learn, and it encourages strategic thinking Many people find Canasta easier than Bridge, so it might be a good starting point for seniors who have less experience with card games Unlike Bridge, enough of the game can be learned in 20 minutes for beginners to play confidently at their first sitting The cards themselves become instrument of enchantment, waving a spell of mental agility and strategic thinking . With every meld and discard, players engage their cognitive faculties, sharpening their minds like a wizard’s wand Register by Jan 31 to let us know you are coming.
