hunderstorms typically spell doom for many types of motorsports. However, two types of motorized competition, seem to revel in the incessant downpours of late spring and early summer. Lots of rain means that great courses can be built for some awesome mud bog and snowmobile watercross action later in the summer. Page 4

GETTING WET AND WILD WITH TEAM HARD
As we head into the 2014 racing season we checked in with Team Hard, one of the major supporters of these mud-and watersoaked festivals of speed, partying, and wild competition. "We're going to be hitting three big midwest events this summer that we're especially excited about," explained Team Hard's Matt Pfankuch. "We'll begin with Howie's Mud Bog over the 4th of July weekend, then we'll attend the nationally-known Grantsburg Snowmobile
Watercross July 18-20. We'll then finish up the month at the Chad's Ranch Mud Bog July 25-27." Team Hard will be doing more than simply showing up with their unique and (ahem) interesting wares at these events, but they will also be sponsoring two of the most popular mudtrucks on the circuit, known simply as Fearless and Reckless. So what exactly is Team Hard, anyway? "The idea for our products began nearly 15 years ago when a small group of us were on a rained-out snowmobile trip to Wisconsin," recalls Matt. "My partner Craig (founder) and friends were at the bar and we started to come up with funny sayings for T-shirts, kind of aimed at the motorsports crowd [Matt and his pals at the time were heavily into snowmobiling]. "So the bartender says 'you guys get me some T-shirts with that stuff on them, and I'll sell a ton of 'em', and so we went from there. Later on we came up with the idea of Morning Wood Camo, which is like a take-off on RealTree and Mossy Oak and stuff, but there's scantily-clad women patterns instead of leaves. We figured the deer wouldn't notice the difference!" Today Team Hard has a huge selection of

competing in midwest mud events for several years and is typically a fan favorite. Reckless is owned and driven by Dustin Ramacher also out of Ogilvie. It's a '98 S10 Extended Cab with a custom-built tube chassis (1 3/4" DOM) and is powered by a 572 cubic inch BBC with 1425 hp and 1230 torque. It features an 871 Littlefield blower, TSI Powerglide transmission, ProFab gearbox, 5-ton axles, 18.4-26 R2 Custom Cut tires, and Fearless Motion 4.0 nitrogen shocks. It's sponsored by Fearless Motion shocks, Team Hard, and DND Fab Works.
all sorts of products, most of which includes a funny, and somewhat risque saying, that especially appeals to the off-road/outdoors crowd. "We tend to do very well at events where there are lots of people having fun and drinking beer," adds Matt. So how do they come up with the funny sayings? "We claim we're sponsored by Captain Morgan [not actually true] and that's how we come up with new ideas. Friends and customers sometimes toss things our way as well."
gotta try real hard not to LOL when you start reading the sayings. But the company's latest claim to fame are their Beer Fridge Wraps, which are large vinyl decals that feature full-color, life-size girls and beer which should appeal to any bro who happens to stop by for a brew. "We were the first company that I'm aware of to market Beer Fridge Wraps," Matt proudly announces. "And they've done quite well for us, too!" The Fearless mud truck is owned and driven by Tony Selle out of Ogilvie, MN. It's sponsored by Tony Selle's Customs, Team Hard, Fearless Motion Shocks, Lone Pine Tool & Die (Ogilvie, MN), and Bikeman Performance. The truck has been

A TRIKE THAT LOOKS LIKE A CHOPPER!
We wanted to build a Trike that is more like a Chopper than a Trike... long, clean and low. A combination between a Trike and a Chopper! The idea for the bike is all my husbands and little bit of mine, and Calles Chopperdelar Sweden build the frame after our specification. We built it in addition to make it work well for me since I have a muscle disease that makes me unable to drive a conventional motorcycle. The solutions that we came up
with make it easier for me to ride and drive the bike and allow me to be on the roads together with my husband and friends. From the beginning we didn’t knew if the Trike would work for me so I‘d like to say that the whole bike makes me happy and that it turned out so much better than we even hoped! After the rebuild it become even better and good looking. The auto clutch is really a cool part and it makes my driving so much easier. I just release the throttle and switch gear. It handles like a go-cart. The bike is great, smooth to ride, easy to handle, fast and very reliable. I just love my real brass knuckles in the rear that we found on an arms exhibition and my foot pegs, look like brass knuckles that I bought in the US. Also, I like the texts on the bike, which can be annoying for some people, especially Baggers. I’m taking the motorcycle out for the first trip in late of April. After that we will be around on motorcycle events and Bike Shows. We take the bikes for a ride and have coffee with friends. I’m using my Trike when I travel to and from work in the summertime.

WHO IS YOUR HERO? My usual monthly Boiling Point focuses on 2 and 4 wheeled machines, road safety, weather conditions, distracted driving or controversial topics. After giving the monthly topic some deep thought and drawing a big X through each of the topics I had on the table I decided to write a topic that all of us can relate to....our hero’s, who is your hero?
emotion and fear, but proud as hell that my son had the wisdom to recognize the future. I wish I had that at 18, don’t you?
If you sat down and thought it out, who was your hero when you a kid, a teen, a young adult? The easy answer is your dad, grandpa or brother. But I remember as a kid I bounced back and forth from the TV cowboy protector Lucas McCain also known as “The Rifleman” to hall of fame Left Fielder for the Boston Red Sox, Carl Yastrzemski. As a teen it was anyone that wore black and gold with a huge “B” on the chest, however my true hockey hero was Bruins legend Bobby Orr. I pretty much had everything Bobby Orr as in hockey gear. I even attempted to try some of his acrobatic hockey moves not just on the ice, but the living room as well. I remember taking out my mother’s cherished mirrored shadow box with a slap shot from the point also known as the front door area. Ok, so after a couple paragraphs I can see your wheels turning and reflecting your moments as a kid, mimicking your hero of yesteryear. But who is your hero today?
as he put it this way. He said “dad right now college isn’t for me”, “I can tell what is going to happen”. It was at that point I started to see my son wasn’t that boy that I tucked in at night; I was looking at and listening to a mature adult. He said, “Dad I am going to go to college with a bunch of buddies, drink a lot of beer, stay up late and probably drop out after a year or two and still have no idea what I want to do in life”. “Dad I want to get some structure, direction and discipline in my life, I want to be a U.S. Marine”. From a dad’s perspective I was stunned and had been overcome with
There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of my sons sacrifice, commitment and patriotic values of stepping up to the plate to serve our country. Like my son, many of you have also made that sacrifice, letting go of your sons, daughters, moms and dads that are serving in the United States Military or maybe serving our country yourself. For the Americans that don’t have that connection to a family member serving our country I can tell you this first hand – military families sacrifice quite a bit, holidays, birthdays, family gatherings or just sitting around hanging out as a family. The days and nights that are worrisome, no phone calls or letters for weeks and the constant thinking what is he or she doing now? The fear of what is happening on the other side of the world and the thought that no one wants to envision, of that day when there is a knock on the door. I know many of our Wheels of Thunder readers and I do know some of you have been on the receiving end of that knock. I honor each and every one of you and your family member that gave their life for our country. Every May I can’t help but think of the days when I was a boy that lead up to Memorial
For me that’s an easy question, it’s not a comic book superhero, a sports celebrity or TV detective; it’s my 19 year old son, a United States Marine. My guess is many of you can relate especially if you have a son, daughter, mom or dad serving in the United States Military. I can remember my son sitting down with me as a senior in high school discussing college options. The discussion wasn’t long Page 16

during the Boston Marathon in April. As Americans there is always that next generation ready to raise their right hand and take that enlistment oath to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. For as long as I live I will never forget that day when I watched my son raise his hand and recite the oath. That’s my hero and he always will be, he’s my son a United States Marine. For our Wheels of Thunder readers and beyond I pray every day for our members of the United States Military, their families and our country. I thank you all for your sacrifice, your support and your commitment to keeping our country safe and free.
Day. In school we would recite the poem “In Flanders Field”. I bet you in 2014 not one kid would has ever recited that poem. What do you think? The Memorial Day weekend would arrive but for the life of me I cannot ever remember that weekend being a festive one. There was no barbeque, no long weekend vacations, no excessive boozing. Our weekend was remembering
I somehow think that the meaning of Memorial Day has been lost to weekend sales, festive partying and backyard barbequing. It really is kind of sad when you think of the values we have lost in just a relative short time. The hero’s that we honored then are no different than the hero’s we honor today. In fact in the true spirit of Memorial Day those heroes’ as far back as the American Revolution should still be honored today. For the readers that have served, currently serve or have a family member proudly wearing our Military uniform you can relate. If it wasn’t for the sacrifices that the Military families have made since the days of the Minute Men our country would have folded. But we are free Americans we will never fold, back down or submit to anyone abroad or on our soil, as was demonstrated
YOU ARE ALL HERO’S IN MY BOOK. GOD BLESS AMERICA!
our family and friends that had died serving our country. As a young boy in Boston our family would get dressed in our best Sunday outfits, pack up the car and head to the cemetery to honor our brave Military personnel. My Grandfather would stop at the local VFW and get a bunch of the Memorial Day poppies and pin them on us like he was proudly pinning medals on his grand kids. We would visit the cemeteries by Military era, my Grandfather would tell us the story of each one of our relatives that had died in battle or survived but were honored with a military burial where they served. That was Memorial Day weekend 1960’s style.

ike many boys growing up in the upper Midwest, Jeff Fiala was into Go-karts, snowmobiles and motorcycles. His interest led him to snowmobile racing and eventually, at the age of 15, to stock car racing. Fiala learned early the importance of a great engine and how to get the maximum performance from a car. He probably didn’t realize then that the engine business would become his profession and his passion.

Today, Fiala owns Wheeler Dyno Service located in Blaine, MN, just North of Minneapolis. If the name Wheeler sounds familiar, it should. Wheeler is a well known name in the engine business with first class reputation. For over 40 years, Wheeler Racing Engines has been designing and building some of the finest and fastest racing engines around; producing engines for several national record holders, national event winners and NHRA world champions.
I asked Fiala to clarify the whole Wheeler Dyno / Wheeler Racing Engines relationship. He explained that “technically” Wheeler Dyno Service and Wheeler Racing Engines are separate entities with the Dyno side owned by Fiala and the racing engine side owned by Gary Schmidt. “Notso-technically” the businesses are more like a family tree. In 1962, the company’s founder, Jack Wheeler, started building racing engines in his basement. Eight years later, he opened shop in the current location in Blaine. It was at that same time that current coowner Gary Schmidt came to work for Wheeler. Fast forward to 1987 and Schmidt buys the business from Wheeler and Fiala starts working for Schmidt. Wheeler stayed on for a few years and the three continued building the business. They have always had a Dynamometer that they used internally but it wasn’t until 2002, when Fiala bought the Dyno part of the business from Schmidt, that they opened Dyno service to the public. Although Jack Wheeler is no longer a partner today, Fiala and Schmidt continue to operate under the Wheeler name. Fiala says there are no plans to change that. “People recognize the name and we have all worked hard to establish a good reputation and that’s what’s important.”

hectic schedules.” As well as running the Dyno Service, Fiala continues building and restoring engines. “We primarily work on domestic V8’s,” says Fiala. “Chevrolet, Chrysler, Mopar, Pontiac, that type of stuff.” Although some of Fiala’s customers are professional drivers like Randy and Mike Man, many are regular guys (and ladies) who have high performance street cars. “We also do a lot of restoration engines for people that are restoring old muscle cars,” says Fiala. “That is a big portion of our business.” Looking forward, Fiala doesn’t plan on changing the winning formula much. But one area where Fiala does see room for growth is in imports. “We currently don’t do much on the import side,” he says. “But my son Trent just started working for me and he is really interested in imports. I think that will end up being his focus here.” Fiala’s customers whole heartedly agree about Wheeler’s stellar reputation. “My dad and I have known Jeff for about 20 years,” says NHRA Super Stock driver Mike Mans. “First and foremost, he is a real honest guy. He is experienced and you can trust him. He always has top notch equipment. He makes sure he has the best stuff in town. We know when we go there we are going to get the best service with the best products. He has everything in the Dyno shop to make the job quicker and easier.”
ferent combinations. People come from all over Minnesota, South and North Dakota, Wisconsin and Canada to have their engines dyno serviced and built at Wheeler.” Along with top quality work, knowledgeable service and great products, Man makes note of Fiala’s willingness to be available for his clients. “Jeff is always flexible with his time, which is not always an easy thing to find. He makes himself available by phone and in person around our
This type of future vision has always served Fiala well. He sees what his customers need and want and he see ways to grow his business. Then he backs it up with top quality work and world class customer service. In the words of Hennum, “He has the enthusiasm and the passion that it takes to get better every day.” It is that enthusiasm and passion that will take Fiala and Wheeler through the next 40 years.
Another longtime customer of both Wheeler Dyno Service and Wheeler Racing Engines, Dan Hennum, says he has never been disappointed in any work Fiala has done for him. “He is extremely knowledgeable,” says Hennum. “In fact, I call Jeff ‘the encyclopedia’ because if you have a question he has an answer. He has a pretty good handle on everything. He has helped my kids and me through everything from go-kart racing up through outboard drag boat racing and now drag car racing.” Fiala says what sets Wheeler apart from other engine shops is the fact that they do all of their machining and dyno testing inhouse. “It’s always been that way.” Hennum agrees. “Because Jeff performs dyno service for a lot of customers and sees what’s out there in the marketplace, he knows what works and what doesn’t. I’d guess he dynos 200-300 motors of all difPage 22

The Street Car Showdown is Memorial Day weekend (May 23-25) and features the first race of the three-race Muscle Car Series on the drag strip, and the Sports Car Club of America’s (SCCA) Harvey West Classic on BIR’s 2.5-mile Competition Road Course. The Muscle Car Series is an amazing display of raw power and speed for the 300plus cars expected. At center stage are the seven Heads-Up Classes: Pro Outlaw, Outlaw, King Street, Real Street Unlimited, Real Street Natural, True Street and 660 Outlaw Street. This is old-school drag racing - both cars leave at the same time and the first one to the finish line wins. This is where speeds can top 200 mph and times
can dip below 7 seconds. Some of these cars are cranking over 1,000 horsepower. The 660 Outlaw Street Class was added last year and instantly generated a lot of excitement. The drag strip is shortened to one-eighth mile, and tire restrictions level the playing field for the cars racing. It’s anyone’s game as these cars can get up to 150 mph in less than 5 seconds. Lucas Mlinar and his 2001 Trans Am are expected to be back this year to defend his title from the inaugural season. In addition to the Heads-Up Classes, the series also features three Strip Eliminator classes, a Truck Eliminator class and10 Index classes. The winners of the Index classes have a run-off on Sunday to determine the Index Class Champion. For all classes, time trials and qualifying are Friday and Saturday, with eliminations on Sunday. The Muscle Car Series continues on the Fourth of July weekend during the PleasureLand RV Show & Go and then finishes up Labor Day weekend during the 26th Annual Muscle Car Shootout, when series champions will be crowned.

The drag strip will be busy all weekend with 12 class: Comp Eliminator, Super Stock, Stock Eliminator, Super Comp, Super Gas, Super Street, Sportsman Motorcycle, Top Sportsman, Top Dragster and two Junior Dragster classes. Testing is Friday, followed by time trials and qualifying on Saturday and eliminations on Sunday. BIR’s 2.5-mile Competition Road Course will be equally as busy all weekend, starting with the BIR Performance Driving School on Friday. On Saturday, the World Racing League makes its debut at BIR with a 12-hour endurance race. The league is affordable racing for anyone who can pull together at least three drivers and wrench on their car to keep it circling the track for 12 straight hours. morning and racing in the afternoon. The action will be crazy, as top amateur drivers from throughout the Midwest will be battling in early-season action. The action doesn’t let up the following weekend. Thunder at the Lakes is back May 30 to June 1 with a wicked combination of national-level drag racing and endurance road racing.
Page 28
Thunder at the Lakes features the NHRA West Central Division’s Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series. Some of the top Sportsman drag racers from throughout the country will battle for divisional points and a chance to compete for a national title next fall in California. Many of the drivers racing during the Thunder also compete at BIR during the Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals, so it’s a nice preview to that event.

Meanwhile in the off season, the Annual Princeton Speedway banquet was held with more than 160 fans, drivers, families and employee’s in attendance. Tim and Mindi Siercks thanked everyone for the attending and for the success for their first season running the track. MAY IS MOTORCYCLE AWARENESS MONTH clists on the road. Avoiding a crash is the goal. Your life may have been saved because a driver you encountered on the road has been trained by our volunteers. ABATE of Minnesota works closely with the Minnesota Motorcycle Safety Center (a division of DPS) year around to promote motorcycle safety training. There is a training class available for every skill level. Indoor informational classes such as Group Riding and The Seasoned Rider are also available. Many of our chapters offer group classes for their members. And ABATE of Minnesota will give you a free six month membership for just for passing a riding class. What a deal!
After six months of winter Minnesota motorcyclists are happy to be riding without the threat of snowflakes! While that is great news, it is important to remember that car drivers in our state are not used to seeing riders on the road after so much time. A common response from a driver who is involved in a crash with a motorcycle is “I just didn’t see it”. May is Motorcycle Awareness Month. And this year, as in past years, ABATE OF Minnesota will have several initiatives to promote motorcycle awareness to the driving public. It starts with asking the Governor to sign a motorcycle awareness month proclamation and meet with our members. This is a very positive event that brings much publicity to our message of motorcycle awareness. Also during the month of May, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS) sponsors the “Minnesota Washout” that many of our chapters participate in. We set up information tables, squeegees and buckMay 2014
ets of windshield wash. Our volunteers then hand out bumper stickers and awareness information and offer a free windshield cleaning so the drivers can “Start Seeing Motorcyclists”. It is a simple but very effective way to get our point across. ABATE of Minnesota has also worked with state officials in the past to use the electronic informational signs on major highways to flash a motorcycle awareness message when the signs are not being used for other purposes.
As you can see, ABATE of Minnesota plays an active role in protecting road riders. Ask your friends and family to join and support ABATE of Minnesota. Thanks, Mack
Our efforts are not limited to a single month of awareness. Through ABATE of Minnesota's Share the Road program, thousands of students, senior citizens, and service groups have been educated on motorist awareness of motorcycles. Our volunteers are extremely dedicated and professional. During a class, real bikers explain awareness of motorcyclists to a very receptive audience. Everyone who takes the class has a new respect and appreciation for motorcywww.WheelsofThunder.net

Coming off another successful snocross season Nathe says they are expecting the same kind of success this season on the speedway. Nathe talked with WOT about changes at the race park that he anticipates will bring in more drivers and more spectators along with them. The biggest and most exciting change, according to Nathe, is the sanctioning of IMCA Xtreme Motor Sports Modifieds and Karl Chevrolet Northern Sport Mods (BRRP previously sanctioned its Modified and ‘B’ Modified divisions with WISSOTA). The IMCA website states, “Since exploding onto the racing scene in 1979, the Modifieds have become the calling card of IMCA. IMCA Modified is the top division sanctioned by the International Motor Contest Association. Organized in 1915,
IMCA is the oldest active automobile racing sanctioning body in the United States.” Nathe adds that IMCA currently has 157 tracks and over 8,000 racers. IMCA and Northern Sport Mods will join the regular Sunday night classes of Wissota Mod-4's, INEX Legends, Pure Stocks and Hornets on the 3/8-mile semi-banked dirt track. “This is a great addition for IMCA,” said Jim Stannard, director of track relations for the sanctioning body. “Any time we can add a facility like this is an outstanding opportunity for our drivers.” Transition to IMCA will be gradual over two years. “Not much has to change the first year,” says Nathe. “It’s mostly tires and spoilers. But a lot of racers have already converted 100%.” IMCA requires the following as first year transitions: • A-Mod must have IMCA rear spoiler size. • A-Mod in the claimer motor has to run a 7800 rpm chip. • A-Mod must run the IMCA Hoosiers on at least the rear of the car. • B-Mod must have IMCA rear spoiler size. • B-Mod must run the IMCA Hoosiers on at least the rear of the car. Nathe explained the Northern Sport Mods are very similar to the current B-Mods, the differences being the tire and a few other small things.

• Sport Mod: $1200, $800, $750, $600 & $500 New IMCA Modified payout is $500 to win, $100 to start or $750 to win with 30 or more cars. IMCA Modified points earned at Buffalo River will apply toward Belleville Motorsports North Central Region standings. Another change at BRRP is the discontinuation of Motocross. This was a tough call for Nathe to make but circumstances forced his hand. In a statement on their website, Nathe says, “BRRP has agreed to discontinue motocross operations and level the motocross track. This was not an easy decision. BRRP would like to thank all of its motocross riders, racers, and families that participated in and enjoyed motocross operations over the years.” In an interview with IMCA, Nathe explained the reasons behind the switch. “We needed to make a change. We needed to find a sanctioning body with better cost control methods,” he explained. “A little bit of everything went into our decision to sanction with IMCA, from the crate engine to the point structure and the tires.” Another big part of the decision was that the switch opens the door for more racers to move into Modifieds because engines are much more affordable. “The best thing about both the Sport Mods, and the IMCA Mods, is the crate engine is legal in all of them,” points out Nathe. “So a guy can go to a Chevy dealership and buy a stock motor that comes out of a pickup for about $3,200 for a Northern Sport Mod.”
Page 46
“We have a lot of good ‘B’ Mod guys looking to go with a Modified now that it’s affordable,” he added. “A lot of people are really excited about it. We will probably double our modified count the first year.” Nathe also cited insurance benefits that accompany IMCA membership as well as point fund shares in his decision to switch sanctions. “Our track point fund is huge this year. With added local contributions, Modified drivers will run for shares of a $7,000-plus point fund next season. The Northern Sport Mod point fund will be in excess of $3,500.”
Although the closure is disappointing to many, we have to try and look on the positive side, says Nathe. “This opens up more car days. We can run during the week now so it really opens up the schedule for more races and special events.” BRRP has already scheduled a very special Thursday event. On August 21st, BRRP will be the host start site for the Rally America Super Point Event. Race fans won’t want to miss three-time Rally America champion Travis Pastrana take to the track. New this year, Rally America events will be broadcast on NBC so fans might catch themselves on TV.
New BRRP Point Fund Payouts: • Modified: $2500, $2000, $1500, $1000 & $500

NORTHERN THUNDER MOTORCYCLE RALLY DEBUTS THIS MAY AT MYSTIC LAKE
Local tribute bands will play throughout the weekend, with multi-platinum headliners Firehouse on Friday night and Warrant on Saturday night. Also appearing for Q&A autograph sessions are Erik Estrada from the hit TV show CHiPs and Paul Teutul, Sr., star of the reality series American Chopper and owner of Orange County Choppers.
Vendor Village will be open all weekend, showcasing a wide variety of bike and lifestyle merchandise from dozens of vendors. RacePro Motorsports' popular ProTour 110-foot display rig—one of the most recognized attractions at major motorcycle events across America—will be parked there throughout the rally. Northern Thunder is new this year, but it’s organized by some of the most experienced folks in the industry. Randy Burke of Roadshows has been producing events for more than 25 years. “We started out in the hot rod car business on the West Coast and eventually began producing motorcycle rallies. In the evolution of our motorcycle rallies, we find ourselves becoming more and more like a traveling circus. I like to say we’ve got everything but the elephants!” “And if you’ve never seen slow bike races, you’re in for a treat,” he says. “The name of the game is to be the last person to cross the finish line—and that’s not easy. Put your foot down, and you’re out. You won’t want to miss these races all weekend long right in front of the stage. They’re always a huge hit with the crowd.”

Everyone attending Northern Thunder is invited to the celebrity meet-and-greet autograph sessions. Kicking things off at 7 p.m. Friday night will be a Q&A with Erik Estrada, followed by autographs. Erik captured the hearts of millions of fans worldwide during his six years starring as highway patrol officer Frank Poncherello in the popular television series CHiPs.
When he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, he proudly dedicated it to all women and men in law enforcement. Paul Teutul, Sr. is the weekend’s other celebrity guest. Known to the world as the massive, mustachioed father on the reality series American Chopper, Paul has been the driving force behind Orange County Choppers for more than ten years. Orange
County Choppers originally started as a sideline to his steel manufacturing business in the 1970s. Paul began building custom motorcycles as a hobby and founded the now world-famous Orange County Choppers in 1999. He will be bringing several custom bikes to Northern Thunder that will be proudly on display all weekend. Paul will also be participating in a Q&A followed by an autograph session at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Fans of Eighties and Nineties rock won’t want to miss the free outdoor concerts Friday and Saturday night. Firehouse takes the stage on Friday, with hits like “Love of a Lifetime,” “Don’t Treat Me Bad” and “When I Look Into Your Eyes.” Saturday night Warrant will treat the crowd to classic anthems like “Cherry Pie,” “I Saw Red” and “Heaven.” Other local acts performing throughout the weekend include Led Zeppelin tribute band Whole Lotta Zep, ZZ Top tribute band ZZ-3, Tom Petty tribute band Free Fallin’ and DJ St. Joel. If you’re looking for late-night fun, you’ll want to stick around after the show. Open 24/7 and located just 25 minutes southwest of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Mystic Lake has live music on the casino floor every weekend, ten bars and restaurants, and is hosting a free slot tournament each night of Northern Thunder (open to anyone over 18). VIP and vendor Mystic Lake hotel packages are available, or you can book lodging in nearby Shakopee, Minnesota.
